Quietly celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Spent the morning at the local casino, no big wins but broke even and had fun doing it. Had lunch at a local deli and then chilled out at home. A nice day for a couple of old retired folks. Congratulations and happy anniversary to you and your DH!

I just did our pills, now I'm painting my nails.
I'm also reading about it being so hot in England that for the first time in history the source of the Thames has dried up and moved downstream, 5 miles.
Also reading that the river Rhine is getting so low they may not be able to run ships on it soon. Climate change is effecting levels of rivers all over Europe. Just wow! And leaders are ignoring it.
Hubs called, they are getting ready to eat hamburgers on the grill. They are going out for DIL's birthday tomorrow night. That's very nice. I just don't know if DD can stand trips out there and back. She is better this evening, but not great.

I almost finished mowing the front lawn then the mower started smoking like crazy and I had to quit. I think it's the deck belt again. i just replaced it a few weeks ago. It doesn't look broke, but I'll have to take the deck off to know for sure and that's for another day. Headed to bed now because I want to be to work at 6 to get as much as I can done before the birthday party at noon. So sick of everything breaking.

We had a bearing go out in one of the spindles the belt went around and it did that.
I got mine done yesterday, glad I did. I see another big limb down I'm going to have to haul out of the yard.
I really need to mop and dust tomorrow. I'm not motivated either, need to get myself in gear.

I went out for a very short walk, due to the heat. I saw a man from Gabon wearing a beautiful tunic-suit of white and gold. I saw a bunch of Jamaicans grooving to a boom-box playing reggae. I saw an old Italian man, playing Italian ditties on his accordion. I saw a woman from Africa, wearing a stunning billowy dress of many colours, with a matching turban. And I came home with Portuguese piri-piri chicken. I love the vibe of this town. I so miss stuff like this from living in the city! but I as I sit here about to say I don't like people, I feel like I need to just put it out there that I hate the average American that is what I would largely encounter if I left my quiet house in the woods. how do I fix this? I've joked recently that I'm best classified as feral after 2+ years of WFH. if I'm not going anywhere, I'm not brushing my hair or showering every day if I'm not sweaty/stinky. but I still clean up nicely when given a reason, and I'm still excruciatingly polite and professional in my communications. I just have zero patience for the general lack of decorum, and even less for entitled assholes of any flavor. I was feral before WFH. I'm absolutely wild now!

Good morning, fabulous and feral invisipeeps of Y Ma'am. Welcome to Saturday. I hope your day features the finest beverages of your choice and that all barriers fall away from your progress.
Today I'm going to start intermittent fasting again. I do the 24-hour, limit of 500 calories, alternating with 24 hours of whatever. I've put on enough weight already from eating out for months.
I'll also be wrestling with more boxes to empty and put away. Two more days of dedicated work should do it.
Yesterday I was emptying some boxes for the kitchen and I found some glasses my cleaning person had carefully wrapped in Maryland. They looked like they could use a good cleaning so I started to put them in the not-yet-used dishwasher when the top rack fell out. I knew we were going to need to replace it anyway; the racks had spots of rust on them, but it was startling. Guess we'll be replacing it very soon.

Went to Walmart this afternoon and bought a new planning book. Have ordered water for the fridge, a large scale dog for this upcoming winter, Just had fresh corn for dinner. Have finally made the dentist appt along with hair cut. Biggest is that I got the big sewing tables out so I can get all the paperwork out and finally get this all done. Oh, and can't forget, I got some of the first college football games on my planner along with the college ladies volley ball games. For the first time in a long time I feel like I'm really making process. BG I keep trying to guess what you meant by this one. Why would you be buying a "bigger" dog for winter? It made me think of Three Dog Night and laugh. I was going to offer the twins. They're very large scale dogs.

I did not make it to work by 6 like I'd hoped. I was just too beat. Punched in at 6:50 and will just have to scramble a little more to be done by noon.

Today is party day. I can't wait for it to be over. I cooked all night last night and just have to make the rice today. I told my sister that mom is not allowed to have birthday party again.

happy Saturday, kids. we've got a heat warning here again today, the windows in my house are all fogged over and it's already sticky out. gross. pups have been fed, I'm working on some coffee, and I need to go return the loaner car this morning. current plan is to stop and meet finnime on my way home. other than that, I think today's going to involve some more pool time for the pups. I may dip my feet in, but it's already pretty filthy in there from Punk rolling around and going back for another dunk. I definitely see myself draining and rinsing this thing on Wednesdays, when they aren't here. lol...

I'm "cramming" for my trip- the tour guide sent me a link to a 6-part BBC documentary on the breakup of Yugoslavia when I expressed interest and told her what I was reading. SO sad and so complicated. Even within the independent republics there are pockets of other ethnic groups that don't feel like a full part of the republic and in many cases are mis-treated or discriminated against. Resentments between groups can be traced back to atrocities that happened centuries ago. I can see why the "united" Yugoslavia didn't work and I can see why the independent republics aren't a solution for everyone. Now I feel like I need to re-read "Balkan Ghosts". This is why I travel. ETA: The Airalo app has a lot of poor reviews and the good ones seem to be form people who used it in the US or Canada. I'm planning on getting a physical SIM at Heathrow. www.trustpilot.com/review/airalo.com?gclid=Cj0KCQjworiXBhDJARIsAMuzAuwSL8iRtjYLaCIekBoBsfug6Kl20vhn1HENYgoqh1AUrUfpszdNZmsaAqLNEALw_wcB

My parents had a water bed. I'm sure my mother still has it. (I've not been in her bedroom in several years.) I think it was orignally purchased because (a) it was the 70s and (b) my dad was severelly injured in Vietnam, so it helped him. I remember it having to be drained once when we were in my second childhood home. The bed was upstairs, so they ran a hose up the side of the house through a window to fill it back up.

It is raining cats & dogs here right now. DH & I are celebrating one of those "landmark" anniversaries this weekend, so we're bringing cake to church tomorrow. The problem is, I have to pick it up in about a 1/2 hour, and the rain shows no sign of letting up. In a drought, why did the rain have to show up this morning?

Usually wake up around 8:30/9:00. Minding son’s 2 dogs and 2 goats Dogs woke me up at 6:30 by pulling pillow out , how dare they!! Gave them food and fresh water, they can go out anytime through doggie door. They didn’t eat, think they wanted company. Son usually wakes at 5:00 Went back to sleep till 9:00 then went out to barn to feed goats. Goats stay in the barn, if put in the pasture they just stay by the gate and complain baaah , I want to go back to the barn Successfully keeping dogs and goats from each other Very disturbing call with DIL last night. Last weekend she was in hospital again which I knew. She thought she was dying so started process to give away her very beautiful mare for free. So her husband would have less to deal with when she died. But she’s better and back home now. On large doses of diuretic to decrease swelling and strain on heart. If she can keep fluid off lungs docs think she can have heart valve replaced. Or even reduced fluid might possibly allow heart valve to stop leaking? Had hard time sleeping finally took a sleeping pill and glass of wine. Then the 6:30 doggie wake up GRRRH

She's still pushing for 3 cakes but we've already told her it's not happening. I still have to run to get her cake an make a ton of rice. I should probably bathe myself too.

I'm going to kick around the yard this morning before it gets too hot. Lots of odds and ends to attend to. I need to rake up all the pine needles before the grass gets cut. It makes the best mulch for my flowerbeds.

I hope you feel better soon. Thanks. I had breakfast with an adult person this morning, which helped.
It's a bit of everything: perimenopausal rage, being done/burned out, feeling being taken for granted, wanting to do something other than parent and work for me. Some of it is rooted in reality and some of it isn't.
