Back from the clinic. I can now face down both the flu and Covid for another season. In my county masking is required for any medical facility from 11/1 until 03/31. Not a single belligerent or complaining person in sight - nice when people don't make issues out of everything.
The only drawback is that the clinic starts at 9:00am. By that time parking is becoming hard to find. But I was there at 8:15 and waited in my car with my Kindle, a cup of coffee, and the radio on a classic rock station. The sun was shining ... life can be good even in dark times

DH and I cleaned the rain gutters on the house today. Yuk, what a job. DH rode the ladder and I held the bucket while mud rained down on me. We filled a contractor garbage bag with the muck up there. Our jackets are in the wash, we need showers. The nasty job is done till spring. I had these put in on this house a year or so after I moved in, and they are fantastic. idk if you get coupons in the mail (valpak?) ever, but there's always one from them in there. www.leaffilter.com/

I am sincerely sorry if my words have offended someone; I did not mean to. However, I strongly disagree with labeling comments on topics ranging from one's personal emotions and mental health to one's personal finances as "political." We live in a country governed by leadership elected in partisan elections. Virtually every aspect of my life is affected by legislation enacted by these partisan leaders. My property taxes, my income tax, my government benefit programs, my flood insurance, my cost of living, my access to healthcare, my investment portfolio - all are impacted by votes that often follow party lines. This leaves me at a loss for anything to say here lest it be misconstrued as "political" - so I won't mention my grocery shopping today (inflation), the need to fill my gas tank (oil prices), the track of Hurricane Rafael (possible elimination of NOAA), the rising cases of RSV in my county (vaccines), or our unseasonably hot weather (climate change). I certainly won't mention our encounter with a panhandler this morning (you know, poverty, mental illness, housing, all that human stuff). Doesn't leave much to say here anymore. Thinking it’s tagged as political because the posts are referring to the timing of a political event

I received a package today from Amazon, hubs opened it to see what it was. It was a ultrasonic denture cleaner and a masticating blender to make juices from all kinds of fruits and vegetables. It separates the peel from it and makes juice. I never ordered either of those. I hunted and hunted as I was going to see how to return them. I finally found a form and filled it out and submitted it. They said keep the products and not return them. I looked the juicer up it was between $100 and $139. I'm not sure we will use it but if we don't DIL can have it. It was our address and everything, have no idea how we got it. They had me send the tracking number, guess they can tell who should have gotten it from that. Lots of people use these to cleaning their jewelry - just don't use it on pearls Yep, this is what we use it for.

I found the last 4 turkey wings in town at Whole Paycheck. They are roasting off in the oven right now, to be used for stock for the gravy. If I can get this done, it’s one more thing we don’t have to do.

Just faced down a big scary call where I had to talk a lot in front of a bunch of Important People. Now puzzled and annoyed that it isn’t quitting time yet

Is this even a thing? My mom just texted me that she must have touched something on the oven because it's locked now. Does anyone know about that? I've never had an oven lock and I really don't want to go over there right now.

My son did something one time and screwed it up where the self-clean was turned off, but it stayed locked. I don't remember how we got it to open.

I asked her to see if she set it to clean. I swear my mom manages to break absolutely everything she owns, including herself.

Mine is a GE and it has a "lock control" button that if pressed for three seconds, locks the controls (obviously). I just have to hold it for another three seconds to turn it off.

The last time a certain poster objected to my "political posts" I removed them all. I will not do so this time as many others here have also posted within the same time frame with similar thoughts concerning the personal and financial impacts of the election on themselves, their friends, and their families, and at least one strongly advocated for a candidate prior to the election.
As previously noted, everyone here is free to scroll on by or block a poster but that does not suffice for some. I would suggest that those offended by my words, or any others, request the moderators remove them.
There will be no need for anyone to concern themselves about posts from me going forward. Heretofore I found this forum dynamic, impassioned, thought-provoking, and at times, challenging. It was also full of wisdom, empathy, compassion, and human kindness. If sanitized of all potentially troubling words or ideas, it will be much less so.

Taking a break from picking up after hosting Coffee this month. Almost done and I will be enjoying the cinnamon roll that was gifted to me here in a few minutes.

We received a small discount for my DH's military service. Every bit helps!

Sitting at our favorite Friday eatery with a glass of wine. Waiting for DH to get here from the office. I had my covid shot this afternoon and fully expect to be out of commission tomorrow.
