My hands and feet still are hurting this morning. I don't want to have to take pain pills all the time. I still have enough from Indiana for some time. Don't know if will be able to get in pain management up here or not. I may use OTC when I can. Yesterday evening after drying my hair I put my hands in the bonnet of the hair dryer and the warm air helped the pain a lot. Back home after hubs docs appt, at 10 checking on scrips to see if they are ready. Do you have any Tiger Balm? I had a coworker who would use that for her hand pain on rough days. I know a little goes a looooong way with it.

I don't get it how new managers can act like that. I got tossed into managing an office at age 29. While figuring out how to manage i considered 1. How would I like to be managed. Do that. 2. How did my prior good managers do things? Do that. 3. How did my prior bad managers do things? Don't do that. 4. You don't know? Ask someone your respect, like one of your prior good managers.
I don't think it's rocket science. I'm not perfect, but nobody has ever told me I absolutely suck at managing either. Yes, but you're good people. Awww, thank you. You're very kind.

Winding down to start a new work week tomorrow. I go to an office 30 miles away once a week. It's heavy traffic, and the office building is old. The configuration sucks. There's one bathroom 2 floors down, that's it. The office itself sucks. There's a kitchenette but nowhere to sit down and eat. So, I end up eating in my car, which I do not like at all. The building turns down the heat during the weekend, and it's not even 60 degrees on Monday morning. It takes a couple of hours to feel warm in there. I keep telling myself it's only once a week, and I remind myself I left a very toxic work environment to work here. All of that is true, but I don't want to go there anymore. When I got hired, I was told I would work in the office near my home. And I do. I work there 2 days a week, 2 days from home, and 1 day in the office 30 miles away. I really want to stop going there. But my immediate supervisor works there, and she appreciates some face-to-face interactions. I'm turning 52 next week. I don't know if it's age related, maybe I'm approaching menopause or what. But I'm tired. The job is not bad, people are great. I just don't want to work anymore. I daydream of retiring. Then I snap out of it, even early retirement is years away. My car had an issue this weekend. I got the "check tire pressure" light on. I suck at cars so bad. I called a lady I met through the Meetup group I organize. We have become good friends. She met me at a nearby gas station. She showed me how to put air in the tires, but this tire was still flat. She called her boyfriend, and we went to his house. He works on cars and has a ton of equipment. There was a leak on the tire. He fixed it for me. I thanked him so many times. I'm going to bake him a pie or some alfajores, because he likes sweets, and he refused to charge me for his work. My DH says to go to the oil change place and ask them to fill your tires. He says especially in the winter, b/c the ones at the gas station tend to freeze up. He said just be prepared to tip the worker who fills your tires. Of course your way ended up working in your favor as she had a solution when you needed a leak fixed. Or small portable air compressors are pretty cheap and have carrying cases that can fit under the seat, in the trunk, etc. I have one for each of my vehicles. They’re easy to use and eliminate the stress of having to find a functioning air hose, which is an issue around here.

She's obviously never been in a position of power. Good managers don't behave that way. Good luck. Bad bosses suck. I don't get it how new managers can act like that. I don't think it's rocket science. I'm not perfect, but nobody has ever told me I absolutely suck at managing either. Yes. Exactly this! In fact, I was just talking to a colleague last week who would like to move into management about this and how your #2 and #3 are two of the biggest things to being a good/successful manager. Then we went down the path of some of our terrible managers, and oof, we've had some doozies, lol.

Peopling is exhausting! We had a wonderful time yesterday at our friend's gathering, but I was totally worn out. When we got home I did some online shopping, took off my makeup and put on a lovely green mask which made me look like a reject from the cast of "Wicked". I was in bed asleep by 9. So far today I've assisted DH with online bill pay, fed the birds and squirrels, updated CC info on some accounts and now have bleach sitting on the kitchen counters. I might go to the grocery store after lunch depending on the weather. I read that as online Bail Pay and was wondering who he was bailing out of jail 😂

I think I was being a little optimistic when I bought jeans two sizes down. They work, but a little squeezed. I guess it will work as a reminder that I'm only halfway to my goal.

What day does your trash get picked up by the city? That is the incentive to get the trash out of our house every week. It goes out the night before pick up whether it’s full or not. In addition to food bits, bugs love cardboard. Do you have recycling pick up? Trash gets picked up on Fridays. If I don’t take all the trash out Thursday night, he just takes whatever is already in the bin to the curb Friday morning. Everybody just piles big boxes from deliveries in the living room, where they sit until I break them down/cut them up and take them outside, I know bugs and mice love cardboard, that is why that irks me, in addition to the mess. We do have recycling pickup, but the lid on that in is broke, so we don’t use it. Ok. What I do on the night before trash pick up say something like: Hey! the trash needs to go out. If everyone pitches in and dumps a wastebasket into the largest garbage bag, it doesn’t take much. It isn’t much help to take the tote to the curb if most of the trash is still in the house but it takes time to train people. Perhaps you can request a new recycling tote or use the old one if no rain is expected.

bean why not have your ds help you clean?
my ds came over an hour earlier on Sunday to be another set of hands at my request.
he was 5 minutes late and apologized for it first thing when he walked in the door. (i didn't even notice) he did a few chores and kept the missy occupied.

When we go to family stuff sometimes people will ask if she's coming. She rarely does because she doesn't like to people and when she does come, she leaves very early. I have reached the point with my introverted self that I can't people with people I don't even like. It's not worth the pain it causes me.

four more days....four more days.....
J set up a call to go through the slug of stuff that came in on Friday, and kept me on the phone while she typed up notes from my short answers to the questions that came from the stream of conscious babble as she typed. I declined to answer questions about internal processes and procedures she has never used, and suggested she could reach out to her boss with those questions. she kept asking me shit like that, and I finally had to say that I apologized for being short, but that this time this week should be for questions specifically related to the stuff coming in from the site. these other questions about workflows in our quality systems are internal processes and don't need to be answered this week, that I still had other things to close out before Friday. Im not confrontational like that, but she wasn't taking the damn hints🤬🙄

Did you ever get clarification on when the severance check would hit? yes and no. nothing set in stone, though, bc of a bunch of variables on things getting signed off. but, I spoke to the finance guy that manages my Roth IRA, and he explained that bc the severance is getting taxed at the same ugly rate as bonuses (45%) that I would be okay whenever it does actually hit. that would cover more than whatever additional tax hit for 2024.

Mister drove his Mustang to go see his Aunt in rehab yesterday. Yes, she’s been back in the hospital and is currently in rehab again. Anyway, Mister sent me a video of the dashboard on his car. It was a stream of error messages popping up one after the other. I called him and asked him wth. He got in it to leave from visiting his Aunt and all those errors started popping up and car wouldn’t even start. He was waiting for a tow truck. About 20 minutes after we got off the phone and before the tow truck had arrived, he said he heard a click and decided to try it and it started, so he drove it on home. Ford says they’d have to keep the car at least 3 weeks before they can even get to it to try to figure out what happened. It’s a 2024 and he’s only had it 4 months. The fuck?!

T2 is very introverted. She doesn't people unless she has to. When we go to family stuff sometimes people will ask if she's coming. She rarely does because she doesn't like to people and when she does come, she leaves very early. I have reached the point with my introverted self that I can't people with people I don't even like. It's not worth the pain it causes me. I really enjoy people and it's been very hard for me to transition from my volunteer life to an extremely limited lifestyle where I rarely have conversations with people IRL. Yesterday's event was stressful and exhausting because of DH's challenges. He is not a social person by nature and never has been, and his hearing loss presents challenges even if he were. The stress comes from constantly having to worry about his experience of an event and what damage his inappropriate contributions are making to the few remaining relationships I have. The dinner was 60 miles round trip, partly in the dark. He doesn't see or drive well in the daytime and returning home in the dark was a harrowing experience for me, although he did it well. Today he disabled the lane deviation sensor in his car because it was "annoying" which terrifies me. I know I'm whining but I desperately need just one time, one thing, one experience that I can do alone, just for me. But that's not happening ever again. Thanks for listening to me
