When I was leaving work Friday, the oil pressure light flashed on the Jeep. When I got home, I told Mister the Jeep needs some oil and I was driving the Tahoe to work the next day, which I did. The Jeep burns oil or whatever, and a couple years ago, I stopped driving it because the oil pressure light kept flashing. It sat up for almost a year, and it turned out that the problem was just that it needed oil.
I only drive my car when I am running errands close to home. A few months ago, I just happened to be sitting next to it in the garage and for whatever reason noticed a year on the tire next to me. I asked Mister if that was the year the tire was made, and he said yep, probably. Which was 2015 and I bought that set of tires in early ‘16. I hadn’t thought about it before then, how old the tires are. The treads still look good, but I am nervous about the age of the tires. I had a blowout on the expressway in early ‘16, when I was taking Mister out for his birthday, with a tire that wasn’t nearly as old, but basically fell apart while I was going about 60mph, in a way that a few people I showed the picture of it to that are car people, said they’d never seen before. That is why and when I replaced all of the tires on my car.
Now I don’t want to drive my car far, until I can replace the tires.
I know how to check oil in a vehicle, and I’m pretty sure I can figure out where to put oil in one. But I am being ornery and want Mister to put the oil in the Jeep instead of doing it myself. So I will keep driving the Tahoe until he does it. I like driving the Tahoe anyway, even though I rarely do, and still probably haven’t driven it 10 times during the couple of years we’ve had it. I usually ask if he minds me driving it, out of courtesy, but I’m not even going to ask, I’m just going to hop in it until he puts oil in the Jeep. And if he gets ornery and takes it before I leave home, just because (weeks pass without him driving the Tahoe now that he has the Mustang), I’ll just drive his Honda, which I hate doing because it was his baby before we even got the Tahoe, and I have always preferred not to drive it and be responsible for it, but whatever at this point.
I am actually going to need to drive the Tahoe next month, to work my side gig in a city about an hour away from home. I don’t drive my car out of town anymore, and the Tahoe is more comfortable to drive long distance, than the Jeep. But between now and then, I’m taking over the Tahoe anyway, unless/until he puts some oil in the Jeep.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to eat. I don't want anything heavy, but just not sure what. I have a mountain of food in this house, but nothing sounds good.

Currently at half time of my basketball came. We are up by 2 points. We shall see what happens. We lost by 3 points. We went 0 for 16 from the 3 point line and only scored 47 points. Yikes

I'm already hating that I have to log in tomorrow. 10 more work days. at least my replacement took tomorrow off (it's not a holiday for this place) so I don't have to deal with another 90min of questions I shouldn't be training this woman on. if Im so useless to the organization, why am I training my replacement? 🤷♀️ My friend had to train her replacement when she was laid off. The only reason she did it is because she got to go to India for a week. The person in India showed her a really good time and her boss had told her to make sure she took one day to sightsee. So the person she was training to her to the Taj Mahal.

Next weekend kicks off the start of the slide into the new year. So I thought I might work on my English paper piecing projects. Getting the blocks prepped takes space. Which we won't have much of when we have folks over.
I hit a snafu where there wasn't enough fabric to fussy cut 6 pieces. I dealt with that but it took too long. Now my back is killing me. Our kitchen table does not make a great cutting table.
still dd1 has been doing her homework at the table and it is nice to be together.
the amount of stash I have its really sinful

Tomorrow is the date that Mister and I consider the start of our real relationship. We don’t count the time since we first met and were just FWB, which was over a year before.
So tomorrow will be 9 years for our relationship and over 10 years since we first met. Even though it’s not really that long in the grand scheme of things, it is long enough that when I think about how many years it’s been, I think “WOW”.
Last year, I was upset with him on our “anniversary” day and refused to cooperate with celebrating it. I don’t even remember what we did or not on that date after we moved together, because there was so much other stuff going on, between the pandemic and his daughters, and then with his parents. But I do remember that before we moved together, we celebrated that day every year.
I am not inclined to want to do anything different than what we’ve done the last few years (didn’t do), because what is there to celebrate. Idek if he is aware of the significance of tomorrow’s date, and I’m not going to remind him. He is pretty good at remembering dates that have meaning, whether it’s birthdates or other dates that mean something to or because of his loved ones.

Well, giramomma. Here's a great idea for your stash. These mini pigs are selling for $30/each on Etsy!

Good morning, attentive invisipeeps, focusing on the near at hand projects and people. Welcome to Monday. I hope this day brings you comfort. I hope no one and nothing pees in your closet or bed or on your clothes. I'm sitting on the sofa eating granola with yogurt. Franklin the Dog is happily ensconced at ODB's for the duration of our trip. I have a todo list for before we go that includes e-checking baggage since I decided we're actually going to check a bag rather than lug it from plane to plane. So much of air travel had become long treks from one gate and/or terminal to another. With DH's trouble walking far, it's a problem. When I used to work a job demanding a lot of travel I could easily run from one gate to another and was generally more at ease juggling heavy loads physically. Now it's just not as easy. I am looking forward to seeing our friends. We were all involved many years ago with an online divorce support group. F lived in Maryland, as DH and I did, so we got together occasionally. Then he married L and moved to California. DH and I married, too. We went to each other's weddings. That may have been the last time I saw them, at our wedding. See I'm focusing on the closer family and community. It does help fight the horrifying feelings after last Tuesday. Yesterday was a good day for seeing the sun rise again. Engineers among us should appreciate this picture of synchronized flying perpendicular to the sun's trail:

Feeling a little better now, as my subconscious starts to process the shock, the meds knock me out for nights of sleep and my stomach slowly starts to admit that food might be ok. I’m down 5 lb over the past week or so, maybe more since I didn’t weigh myself in the runup to Halloween with all the taste testing. I was an awful slug yesterday. My mother is having her assessment by the geriatric case management team today. It’s expensive and I’ve volunteered to cover it. I hope it’s worthwhile and enables us to move forward in a less hypervigilant state. I don’t really enjoy feeling obligated to plan my vacation time around her needs.

As they say, if you're going through hell, keep on going.
Caught the kids' stomach bug and was up most of the night. Not a good combo with the pneumonia and coughing. Hopefully through the worst now. Trying to figure out how to eat something so I can take my antibiotic without upsetting my stomach more.
DH also caught it - he left yesterday for a hunting trip. I feel bad and was hoping he'd make it out before he got sick. I'm usually the one that goes on vacation and ends up sick in a hotel room.

Woke up at about 5am & have not been back to sleep. I have can 8:30 Dr appt so time to hit the shower. The only reason I booked it so early is because they are injecting my knees so I am really looking forward to my pain being less.

So annoyed with Abby. She wanted to get her ears pierced again and has been asking me for months. I told her no because of last time. I finally gave in because I figured if she has been asking for months she must be serious this time.
Nope. Got woken up at 5am to a tantrum because she didn't like how it felt and she wanted them out. I was pissed.
I told her I am not putting them back in and this IT. I am not giving permission or signing off on ANYTHING anymore. She can decide for herself at 18 when it is her own money she is wasting. I am DONE.
I honestly don't care if she pierces her ears or not. What I care is we didn't even get 24 hours into it before she had a fit. That is $100 I spent for nothing, getting kids' ears pierced isn't cheap anymore.

I have zero issue with that. but she's asking me to teach her how to review things as a Quality Approver. I'm sorry, why was I cut instead of her if she doesn't know this part of the job and I've already been doing it? why isn't she asking her boss or reading the SOPs? I mean, I had to teach myself the tasks of the role for the most part. I'd already held a Quality Approver role in other positions. I realize this is me stewing over all of it, but Friday's little handover session went up my ass sideways.

Have a potential lead on a job but I have a lot of questions. The job posting says it is located in Omaha and I scanned their job page and it says this one is in Omaha. But I don't find an address when I google it. Fresh Pet is based in New York. It says they are opening a pilot plant and that is what this position is for so maybe they are building it in Omaha? I decided to go for it and clicked "Willing to relocate" because I wanted to at least make it past the computer to find out exactly where this job is based. If is Omaha I am already here. If it is NY the answer is no. It didn't really provide me an option for that situation so I "lied". I have a lot of questions. I am hoping it is based in Omaha. Indeed can be so freaking stupid sometimes so I am highly skeptical but I didn't want to pass on the chance since pretty much lately all that is available are retail and food service positions around here. The job at the one company that made me start to wonder if it was a cult keeps popping up. Wonder why they can't get it filled? Could possibly have something to do with your weird ass interview questions.

I'd have suggested applying. if this is a new pilot plant, it may not even physically exist yet as an approved legal address.
I applied for a position back at the same time as my current place. it was also listed as Cambridge/downtown, but was going to result in my eventually becoming the head of a Validation organization after doing the work to bring a brand new site online - another 45min past the city heading toward NH. they couldn't list the actual site b/c it wasn't online yet. I wasn't thrilled about the bait-and-switch, but I still interviewed for the practice.
here's hoping it's a good lead for you!

That is $100 I spent for nothing, getting kids' ears pierced isn't cheap anymore. I keep getting hit with this same sort of thing with DD12 and signing her up for sports and other programs. I've taken to covering my butt by putting it in front of her in writing and having her physically sign it. DH and I have also learned that putting curfew and other key parenting instructions in group text to DD16 so there's no blow back of hey dad told me I could stay out til 11 on this school night, etc. We ask her to acknowledge the text and then we can call it back up when she says oh, I must have misunderstood what you said. She blew through midnight curfew Fri night and strolled in at 12:45 after being at her boyfriend's. Not the first time so I'd said grounded for rest of weekend. DH caved and let bf come over bc DD claimed she needed his help to prep for math test. I got home and found them watching a movie instead of studying. I should have kicked him out but I get so, so tired of being the bad guy when DH was in the next room watching football and acting completely clueless. Go online this morning to check schedules bc there's a half day Weds that messes up entire week's class schedule and my driving routine. Yeah, DD has multiple math hws missing. Guess who's coming home from school and doing math all evening with me sitting beside her?!

Here's my crabby paddy PSA: If you live within a 5 minute walk of a venue that will draw a good amount of people, please let the parents know that there is an event in the venue in the invite that you send out. And, also, how can college kids afford tablets, computers, and studying at a coffee shop? I paid 4.50 for a small chai. I didn't even look to see how expensive meals were. I didn't study at a coffee shop more than a couple times a month. No meals. When my DD was in college, she worked at SBUX nearly full time. She got a pretty significant discount. Idk about computers, you pretty much have to have one to be a student.

Met up with a couple friends last night for dinner. It was good seeing them, they only live 50 miles down the road, I’ve known them for 20 years but our schedules never mesh. She is the crew chief on one of the hydroplane teams, so during the summer it’s almost impossible. She said she’s quitting next year, but has said that before.
Anyway, we split the difference and met them in Mount Vernon….about 25 miles for each of us. We had 6:30 dinner reservations, but it was well after 7 when they finally seated us. We got a free app out of the delay. TD drove The Beast, which I can’t drive. It has a racing clutch in it and I don’t have enough control of my hip to be able to handle it. We got about halfway home and realized he was getting sleepy and drifting. I had thrown a can of sparkling water into the car for this purpose, I guess it helped some but was very glad when we turned onto our road. It was only about 9:30 when we got home, but we closed down the restaurant. It was supposed to close at 8, but we never got our food until 8!
It’s pouring out this morning, I think we are supposed to get rain all week.

Pulled into facility in PA to my phone blowing up. Missed a meeting that was scheduled this morning, during a time that I had blocked out on my schedule for driving. And coworker needs help with something and I am the only person who can assist her, but I really need to get what I need to get done so that I will not need to travel back before TG.

So, someone here mentioned using a black light flashlight to see where their dog peed, so I added one to my Amazon order. I just walked in my closet, and I thought, smells like pee. Went and got black light flashlight and added batteries. The Damn Puppy is peeing all over my closet and all around the ironing board we have up in our bedroom. Waiting for DH to get home with the dogs. He is going to be so mad. He brought this dog home w/o consulting me, so it is all on him. I paid about $35 for a spray bottle of a product called My Pet Peed. It is great for removing organic odors and stains of any kind, including blood, red wine, vomit, and of course pee. My little dog gets an upset stomach sometimes, and vomits bright yellow stomach acid. I just blot up what I can and spray it with My Pet Peed. When it dries there's no stain or odor and there's also no ring or water mark to show the area of the cleanup. When I bought it you could order it direct from the company or from Amazon. Thanks, put it in my Amazon cart, but I have 2-3 other similar products at home, going to wait and see if I need a different option.

I just got back home from taking Speedy in to get his nails trimmed. He loves car rides, but absolutely HATES getting his nails done, or even getting his feet touched. I try to "shake hands" with him from time to time, just to try to teach him it's ok to get your feet touched, but many people tell me it's a trait of the breed. At least he's finished for about another 6 weeks. And his nails grow slowly, unlike Lola's. But she LOVES going to the dog groomer. It's a spa day to her.

I saw a fb reel about someone biting the back of their cat's neck like a mama cat to trim their nails. Seemed like it worked and I've been teasing DD12 that should be our new approach. She bites, I'll trim. She's not going for it LOL.

That and the place eventually went under. I would be very upset about teaching her the Quality stuff. Why does she even expect it? You are leaving. I would definitely be stewing and not happy with doing that much training.

Listening to a Fidelity webinar training on my stock options but the presenter keeps stopping to answer every little question coming thru the chat including stupid stuff like how do I login, what's the website, what if I forgot my password, how do taxes work, etc? I'm here to actually learn about how stock options work which was the sole agenda.

I saw a fb reel about someone biting the back of their cat's neck like a mama cat to trim their nails. Seemed like it worked and I've been teasing DD12 that should be our new approach. She bites, I'll trim. She's not going for it LOL. Our vet has her assistant hold the cat by the scuff of her neck, keeping her lying down on one side, in order to draw blood from her back inside leg. I said hey this would work for the nail trimming. Vet said yes it works quite well. We haven't tried it yet but will have to soon. Our cat is polydactyl. She can't shed her claws properly because of her weird little thumb toes.
