Leaf filter house here as well! We received a small discount for my DH's military service. Every bit helps! What did you pay for them? We have a 2100 sf ranch house and I’d like to get some idea of what they cost. We got Leaffilters installed also, about 3 years ago. Our house is one story, I think 2500sf. I’d have to go find the paperwork to be sure, but I think it was around $6k. The contractor that installed them, tried to convince me that the gutter runs along parts of the front and back of the house were too long and we needed to install more downspouts, which would’ve included cutting into our wood deck to install a couple on the back of the house. He showed me pictures from the roof of standing water in the gutters and everything, He offered to do it at a discount, saying that if I called Leaffilter about it they would charge me way too much money for it. First of all, I’m not a dummy and I learned the hard way while I single that some people will try to get over on a woman when it comes to home and auto repairs. Mister was at work when they were being installed, so it was me dealing with them. Second of all, this house seems to have been built with such attention to detail, that I believed that if anything was wrong with the gutters, it was probably just that they needed tweaking with the pitch. So I called Leaffiler. They sent someone else out. He said that while the runs are a bit longer than what he usually sees, adjustments were made for that when they were installed. I don’t remember everything he pointed out to me, except that the downspouts are larger than standard size. Some of our downspouts disappear and drain underground. Others are encased in the bricks that form flowerbeds around the house and the water from them drains above ground. He educated me on a lot of stuff that I’ve forgotten, and showed me the differences by comparing ours to the house next door. He made adjustments to the pitch, of the long runs, added something in the corner over the deck where rainwater had been spilling over the gutter onto the outdoor speaker mounted just below it, and adjusted the pitch there. I didn’t have to pay anyone money for that and we’ve not had an issue with our gutters since. I asked him for his card, because I have another house and I appreciated his honesty and efforts to educate me on gutter systems. My apologies for going on a tangent, but I kinda meant it as a warning. Not about Leaffilters, themselves, but about contractors like the one that installed ours.

So, someone here mentioned using a black light flashlight to see where their dog peed, so I added one to my Amazon order. I just walked in my closet, and I thought, smells like pee. Went and got black light flashlight and added batteries. The Damn Puppy is peeing all over my closet and all around the ironing board we have up in our bedroom.
Waiting for DH to get home with the dogs. He is going to be so mad. He brought this dog home w/o consulting me, so it is all on him.

o.m.g. Kiddo is here tonight and it just now clicked in my brain that that means I’ll have to share a bed with Mister tonight.
I know how awful that sounds (and is), but it’s not just about me being upset with him and not wanting to fool with him or be around him. He sleeps in the other bedroom because I snore and grind my teeth when I do manage to sleep, which disturbs his sleep. But his ass snores and won’t stay on his side of the bed, which disrupts my sleep too! Even when we use to cuddle when we went to bed, after some years, we started moving away from each other to actually sleep, because he was already a hotbox, which I loved at first, because I was always cold. But then I started being so hot at night, and all of the heat our bodies generated made it uncomfortable to both of us to sleep cuddled up against each other. And him sleeping in the other bedroom has given me the space to make it clear to me that sharing a bed with him disrupts the little sleep I might get myself.
I started recognizing it when we were constantly moving back and forth between his home and mine, before we moved here together, and it felt good to me on the nights we didn’t spend together, to sleep in my queen size bed at my house, by myself. I’d slept in a queen size bed by myself for almost 20 years before I met Mister, and even today, I haven’t gotten past how it feels to be able to stretch out and lay however I want to in bed.
And there is also the fact that now, when I wake up after 2 or 3 hours of sleep and can’t go back to sleep, since I’ve been advised to not just lay there tossing and turning, I might do something that requires sound like using sleep meditaion apps or thunderstorm sounds that I find soothing, turning a lamp on to do whatever, or even turning the tv on and watching something that is only mildly entertaining, that I’m likely to doze off on. All of which are more likely to disturb Mister’s sleep even more.
He doesn’t even know I do all of that random stuff now, during the night when I wake up and can’t go back to sleep.
But I have to go to work tomorrow morning and he doesn’t, so even though I’d prefer not to ever disturb his sleep if I can help it, I’m not willing to forgo the things I do during the middle of the night to try to help me go back to sleep, even though any or all of them may or may not work on any given night.
I don’t understand whyyyyy even simple things have gotten so complicated. Whyyyy should just the thought of sharing a bed with the man I live with, pose some problems for me to try to sort out before I go to bed?
I will stop whining now.

We have a white noise machine, got it years ago and have used one ever since, without it, it is too quiet. Little guy wanted one just like ours so has it on in his bedroom with 2 night lights.
Hubs got me canned air today and I sprayed my other keyboard, it has helped a little, think some key is sticky or stuck somewhere.
I have been talking about it for weeks, well, I finally taped off all the baseboards in the dining/living room and painted them, pulled up the tape and scrapped off any bits of paint that got on the flooring, so that is done.
I think tomorrow we are pulling out the fridge and stove and cleaning under them. I know they just painted around the stove, I can see that at the top. I likely need to paint behind it and maybe the fridge. I'm sure I need to clean the fan and under the fridge too. Then the room needs washed down and painted. We don't have grandson this weekend so might get it done. Then on the to laundry room. Again the w/d needs moved out and cleaned around.
If we can get some warm days I might start sanding off the cabinet doors on one side and refinishing them. The worst are under the sink,by the d/w and on that side of the room, no top ones there. Will take them off and take them in the garage, need to strip and sand I'm sure.
Will be down to the 2 bathrooms and the small office/bedroom for little guy.
We think we are going to put laminate in our bedrooms and get a couple of small area rugs if needed. We ordered one new mirrored cabinet for the small bathroom, he has to take out the inset cabinet and drywall the hole, but this will be much better, like the one back in Indiana.

I'm pretty sure if its an electric stove and you can't figure out how to unlock it, unplug and plug back in.
We have gutters all the way around our house, very nice ones, but no leaves as the trees in the yard don't shed and the one little one that does is away from the house. I'm glad we have them.

CG2 - IIRC, you have been unhappy with the range at your new place. Have you considered trading it with the new range that is at your MH that is on the market? I did that with the place I sold in 2020 and it worked out quite nicely.

Anyway, it's a big bite out of a fixed income. I need to get my arms around how to manage it. Our business is not yet generating enough income to offset it, or even half of it. Also need to do the laundry so I can pack tomorrow for leaving Monday. I have thought of postponing this trip but we and our friends are getting older, plus it's all set up. I had plenty of points to cover the airfare to New Mexico. We were going to go last year but our friend F got Covid. Yesterday the weather here was fine. On days like these it's important to remember, the sun also rises:

I'll end up working some today to catch up.
Otherwise we don't have many plans for the 3 day weekend. We'll get together with my Mom for birthdays at some point but haven't figured out when or what. I got her some of the wonderskin lip stains because I still really like mine. ** word of warning - the blue stuff you wash off will stain wash cloths **
Going to clean the house, work on my bedroom and office area, check in with bunny rescue on our application, work on dc bday plans, and think about Thanksgiving. Try to tackle the photo album, and go to the gym.
I'm also looking for a new show. I finished Castle and loved it, and Agatha All Along - amazing just too short. Tried Bones and just can't get into it. Any recommendations?

So I've been looking for a replacement for my beloved old Jeep. Seriously, it's a 99 but only has 110K miles, and I freaking love that old thing. Yesterday I had to run out for cleaning supplies, looked down at the odometer, and decided to just put some money into her instead of finding something else. I really need to start cleaning it up, also. I'll start on that today.

(I've had some crazy long commutes) I can't think of anything huge that wasn't normal wear and tear. it handles great, has some balls if I punch the gas, and the hatch provides a ton of space if I need to transport bulky stuff. it's also one of the few vehicles still available in manual, if that matters to you. ETA - sorry, I read that too fast the first time. still, the recommendation stands for anyone that wants one.

The minivan I've handed down to dd16 needs $2000 in maintenance repairs. I tuned out what but it was def age/mileage related.
Dd16 was overly worried about the cost so needed to talk her down. Led to some good questioning about budgeting for car repairs, etc. This is the 3rd time in 6th months that she's fretted about our budget so I'm leaning towards opening the door towards sharing our income numbers.

I'm thinking it was right at 5k. It has been several years since we had it installed. But it's been great - no more clearing out the gutters or having them overflow.

I would brainstorm other options. The two of you sleeping together may not be the only option. Of course not all options would be desirable. When I am problem solving, I put them all on the table without judgement (good, bad, dumb, stupid, etc). . And then they get worked through. That also helps arrive at priorities when I don't know what they are. We live in 1800 sq feet, 4 bedrooms. There were 6 of us here full time, for quite a long time. Now, we are down to 5 of us here full time. Plus I was teaching way more out of our home. We still have options for when bedroom/bed sharing is not a good idea.

I was so excited last night to cast on my cowl.
And then I hated the pattern.
I found a scarf pattern that I think will work better.
I need to stop knitting for a while. I've been having tingling in my hands and I supposed I had untreated diabetes.
It's just because I was doing a lot of knitting for my class. <sigh>

I'm not a big drinker but decided tonight would be a good night to partake. I've calmed down enough since Tuesday for it to not be dangerous. I actually haven't had the urge to drink since I started my new job. I shouldn't be doing anyway. I do have a stash of carbliss drinks that the kids do enjoy a few sips of when I open one up. I was teasing DD1. She has 3 hours of classes she has to teach today.. The little ones- like preschooler age. I asked her if I needed to pop open one of my drinks tonight for us to split tonight. She did giggle.

There is a liquor store literally around the corner from the new house. There is a taco truck there! I have purchased tacos and am now about to feed my face. Yay! Tacos were so good! Now I'm sitting on my ass thinking about getting up and cleaning. Of course it's raining again, but I can't put off mopping any longer.

My unhappiness was made worse yesterday when I got word that one of my childhood playmates had passed away.
She had been sick for several years with a diabetic wound in her leg that would not heal. She had been housebound because of it. Her husband retired to take care of her.
When her parents died, she was executor of the estate. The house is 2 doors away from where she lived now. The parents house was full when we were kids. She had told me, they kept putting stuff in it so it is like a huge storage unit.
Her house is the same way. They were collectors of many things.
I don't know what her brother does now with the parents' house. Last I checked it was titled to both of them. She told me her parents intent was for him to live there with no house payments. He said no way was he living with all of that junk.
I will miss the witty emails I would wake up to when I least expected them. She was a very kind soul who spent her working years in social work. I will think about her on Ground Hog day because that was her birthday. She sent me one of her witty emails on my birthday last month.
I'm sad but this sadness is acceptable to people. My sadness about the election is not.
The only neighbor left in their house on our street was the one who let me know. She asked me to let my sister know. I didn't want to talk to her so I let her know by text. Chicken's way out. Definitely. But the best way out for me.

I do have two genealogy classes this afternoon. I am very much looking forward to that.
Proud of myself for deleting all of the timers for news shows and all of the saved shows on the DVR. They can all pound sand. Haven't watched anything except bits of local news in the background. Mostly to see when this rain is going to stop.

Don't forget to factor in that whatever amount she will receive will be taxable to her. Your pension income won't be as high, so your income taxes should go down a bit.

Ooh, then you can watch Ted Lasso if you haven't seen it yet! There are some good shows on Apple TV, might be worth getting it for a few months. If you're a Target Circle member you can get three free months of Apple TV, FYI.

Have you done shrinking on Apple TV? We’ve really like that. I loved the first season! I need to restart Apple TV so I can watch the second season. Keep in mind they are releasing season two one episode at a time and it’s not all out yet. We didn’t know that and got sucked in and now have to wait for Wednesdays for a new episode 😂 The 2nd season is fantastic though.

I am completely off all media except for here, ravlery, and a mommy board. I went to the library. We are now supplied with books for the Missy. All the kids are so different. At 6, DS could follow along when I read all the Harry Potter books. It's pretty amazing that he could follow the last few books. At 6, DD1 would only read books like Bad Kitty, Captain awesome, etc. At 6, DD2 did the whole harry potter thing, with me reading. At 6, DD3 has no interest in any chapter book. I snagged Dr. Fauchi's book. That may be my new topic of conversation. Especially at the kids' school. It also seemed important. Some day, one of the kids that comes through our program could be him.

I don't have apple TV, but maybe rearranging streaming services would be a good idea. Give us something new. Ooh, then you can watch Ted Lasso if you haven't seen it yet! There are some good shows on Apple TV, might be worth getting it for a few months. If you're a Target Circle member you can get three free months of Apple TV, FYI. Ted Lasso was great! We were legit sad when we were done with it. Because it was done. We also liked shrinking. And we watched the morning show with Jennifer Aniston, et al. I thought Steve Carroll was really good in it. We're watching Tulsa kings. I'm rewatching 1883. I'll want to rewatch the last season of yellowstone. And the spin off with Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford was really good too. I'd give anything to be like Helen Mirren. And, FWIW, I think some of the themes of rural vs urban in 1883 still apply today...Anyway, this time I am watching/listening differently. I can empathize with wanting freedom and less law. And then I also think about Covid. Or what happens when folks don't like the consequences of less being imposed on them. Like, less access to healthcare. Less access to infrastructure like the internet. It's nothing new of course. I think we forget we have to live with our choices. If only ever small town/rural area could be like MPL's. That would be amazing.
