I did a lot of work outside and rewarded myself with a small order from Kitchen Arts and Letters bookstore; love to support places like this. I did also go to the E. Delliherin website (cookware store in Paris) and drool like an idiot - I really want to order everything there. Stupid expensive but such fab kitchen stuff!!!!! On my bucket list when I get to France. May also order from the Highgrove shop - there's no VAT to orders shipped to the U.S. but there is international shipping costs. Also expensive but great products worth a splurge. DH and I no longer buy gifts for family and really not for each other. He is at the near-end stage of life where is does not need or want anything that I would have to deal with later,

Hi all! I am distracting myself with gardening (Yeah, y'all in the cold zones are jealous, I know) and we have some tomatoes so far. I am amazed I have not killed anything yet. No race this weekend, but I do have one next weekend, a trail run on an organic farm and winery. So I get to run, eat, drink and eat - OK, I could do that very well.
I was gifted a houseplant for hosting coffee this month. Everything inside my house is faux. Every living plant I tried to have died. I have managed to kill snake plants! I am hoping to keep it alive enough to replant outside in the spring but it's a bated breath waiting game for the next 4+ months. Everyone is getting a big Hug. I have been off major media for the last few days, and I am trying to mentally separate myself and not think about things for right now. I know I have a ball in the gut and just major disbelief happening. It will take a while for me to decide to come out of burrowing now that the coffee gab is done. I feel as though I am going to have to really think about interactions going forward. Being polite but non-committal will work best for me, I hope. Is it because you forget to water the plants? That’s my problem. There are things that you can put in the soil to help keep it moist.

I'm trying to figure out what all I need to take care of this place. I have literally nothing. My cousin's friend is going to sell me a lawnmower which I don't need just yet. I want to order a lawn sweeper because I have hella leaves all over. I have literally nothing since I've never had to take care of the exterior of a house. I'm trying to spend the least amount of money possible too since I feel like I'm giving people money right and left.

A ladder, large shovel, rake, hose, large clippers/pruners?

I was in a condo so it might be different now but, I'm not sure I want to deal with interior plants since I have a largish yard.

I managed to talk my doctor in to a telehealth appointment in 2 weeks. I told them they take absolutely no precautions against Covid there or in this area and I am not going inside that place. So it's going to be telehealth.
I am so sick of the gaslighting on Covid.
Sarcasm font: Is that too political?
It is my truth and I will speak it.

DH is having back problems, so we’re having someone do the lawn and weed whacking right now. I will also happily pay the landscaper to maintain the plants and trees he just put in for us. I am no gardener by any stretch of the imagination, but I want pretty landscaping. We are having contractors coming out over the next couple of weeks for estimates on our proposed addition.

One of the reasons why I took my current job is because a part of my workplace runs a free medical clinic and goes into the homeless areas to provide medical care.
They also collect clothing for this population.
When I first started I donated some winter hats.
I have some more hats that I just need to weave in ends and then I can donate.
At this point I'd rather throw them out. That's how bad the shift is in me. Like I looked at the donation box yesterday and said.I cant do this anymore. Because the letters and voicemails from kids thanking me for believing in them, supporting them, treating them like family. It didn't make a difference. Its not valued. Spending my life supporting the education of engineers and medical types. No value. Tuesday proved that.
Why should I be happy about another data point that how I conduct my life is not valued? Isn't a lifetime of my mother enough? Isn't my husband screwing up his recovery the first time enough?
My life has not been fun. Responsibility. Doing the right thing. There's no dopamine hits from that. People value men flaunting using women. Can you imagine how dull Epsteins parties would have been if they sat around flaunting early retirement instead.
When dh relapsed, I was angry for about four years. Although the last year I just was mad a few times.
I fully expect.that my anger will last for years over this.
On the plus side, I have enough sock yarn to keep me.in socks for a decade. I might actually use that stash up before I die.
I am very sorry that you are struggling. Try to take solace in the fact that your workplace will still do those things and there are still good people/entities in this country. You knitted those hats with love while doing something that provided you peace - I really hope you don't just trash them. tonight i'm going to gather up the donation items and put them in the tub of mostly finished things to give away. they will be in a time out probably for quite some time. i will also get another cowl for myself going and some socks. i don't have much for when it is too dark to see thread/ floss at night.

Concern. My DD and DIL are going to WY to see her Dad. He's had cancer from uranium for years. I'm surprised he survived this long. His wife is in bad shape also. She didn't respond to my blessings message for travel. I usually get an emogi back. DD has tried to get those two to move to ND so the family would be able to respond quickly. I will hope for the best. An unexpected miracle. A friend was preparing the knee replacement. His last xray showed his knee was that of a 20 y.o. Praise.

I don't think we need to pick on posters here. Everyone's nerves are fried. Can we try to be nice to each other and not sarcastic?

Fighting sleep and debating eating another small handful of jelly bellies. At 4 calories each they're a bargain. Plus, listening to a high school football game announcer. The high school is a block away.

So a bright spot in the world news is that today, for the first time in five years, the bells of Notre Dame in Paris tolled. On 12/7 there will be ceremonies and celebrations when Notre Dame will reopen its doors.
The 861 year old structure has been saved by many who provided either their craftsmanship and/or donations world wide. Truly something worthwhile celebrating IMO.

I have a big shovel, but not really anything else.

There is a liquor store literally around the corner from the new house. There is a taco truck there! I have purchased tacos and am now about to feed my face. Yay!

I had these put in on this house a year or so after I moved in, and they are fantastic. idk if you get coupons in the mail (valpak?) ever, but there's always one from them in there. www.leaffilter.com/Leaf filter house here as well! We received a small discount for my DH's military service. Every bit helps! What did you pay for them? We have a 2100 sf ranch house and I’d like to get some idea of what they cost.

I'm not a big drinker but decided tonight would be a good night to partake. I've calmed down enough since Tuesday for it to not be dangerous.
