that's what boggled my mind is what mental gyrations people go through to make it ok to associate with convicted child sex traffickers. what do you tell yourself that turns into thats model citizen behavior. that's the quality we demand in leadership.

as for the rest on any progress women had it just was an illusion like everything els3.

like drama said we have enough privilege that we'll be fine. telling my kids to look out only for themselves makes me feel dirty. i don't think we are at point where there is a greater good anymore.

People were too blinded by wanting to forget the last four years.  The good economy had jack shit to do with Trump.   Presidents actually have very little to no control over the actual economy.

I did have a very mean nasty thought this morning though.  Trump is getting to that stage where cult leaders get too deep into believing in their own mythology and it shows when he talks.  He also has no reason to cooperate with anyone now that he won and he can't run a third time.

I hope he fucks shit up!  I hope he is such a loose cannon that it destroys everything his voting base thought he would fix.  I hope they get spit in their eyes and their head twisted so far around it's like the Exorcist.   The fact that ANYONE thinks Trump has their best interest in mind is laughable.  I really do hope he spends all his time being a petty asshole going after everyone that "betrayed" him.  Let him waste all our tax dollars on endless Bengahzi type investigations.

Let them see him for who he actually is.

A woman that I know who had her first child at 15, was a great grandmother before 50, and lived off of welfare for DECADES is a HUGE supporter. She did start working regularly around her mid thirties and still does, but does she not realize that that party works hard to deny the type of assistance that helped keep her family off of the streets?

We are solid middle class, and if DH ever gets back to work will be firmly very upper middle class. We did not get here 100% on our own, nor without some luck, but DH has firmly been in "we need to just worry about us" mode for the last several years - especially after I woke up and refused to engage in my family's dysfunction. 

DS & DD are 2 very different people. DD wants to help everyone, and DS definitely only worries about himself. His car is still in my & DH's names and we still pay the insurance. His birthday was Monday and his gift was 1 year of car registration and the personal property tax paid (~$80 total). His Christmas gift will be a new phone and a deposit for his own plan. He goes on his own health insurance January 1, and by mid year next year his own car insurance. 

That went a little sideways, but I am very much saddened about the "me, me, me" way this country is going.

I talked to my mom a little while ago. even.she has started looking at what all is involved for her and dad to retire north. he would have to sponsor her, but there's the added wrinkle of her already being retired and both of them having Medicare. idk, it all sounds messy. I certainly have some thinking to do.

My DD called me this am, and she sounded so down I was actually panicking that she lost her job or something.  She was upset about the future path of our country and what it means for young people and our country.  We had the same discussion - We will be fine as we are better off, Trump's tax plans are actually better for us than the Democratic ones (at least, I think they will be).  She was very upset that people felt that Trump had a better economy that Biden, and they refused to account for how he messed up the country with his pandemic policies.  She also is very upset about women's issues and having children.  She said why would anyone want to have children; the risk is too high.  I told her well, the risk of having children has always been the greatest risk to a woman's health in her lifetime, now it is just worse.  

She brought up the hispanic men going for Trump and how many of them probably just would not vote for a woman.  She then segwayed into a podcast she recently listened to where 30 year old women are not wanting to date 30 year old men b/c in general 30 year old women went to college, are settled and successful in their careers and many are homeowners.  They don't want to date men their age, b/c many of them are not as settled/successful in their careers (so they want to date older men) She said when women start out earning their husbands the relationships tend to only last 4 years beyond that.  She mentioned her Indian friend that is currently living in Texas.  Her family really wants her to get married.  She is earning about 100,000/yr and she is 27 years old.  How many men are earning that much.  My DD earns less than her friend, but she is also doing really well.  

We also discussed the dichotomy of Churches preaching to be compassionate to the poor and homeless and yet going all in for the republicans (I have been going to church with my mom and DD has been going to Chruch in MI a few times a month).  I just don't get it.  I told my DD that I have half a mind to stop sending $$ to the Salvation Army and MKE Rescue Mission, but they support the poor and the homeless and the needs are so great in the winter.  I will still be sending my checks out before Thanksgiving.  I think we have to remember that this election was still pretty dam close to 50/50.  Looks like Tammy Baldwin retained her Senate Seat in WI, but she only won by .7%.  I am sure there will be a recount.  Unfortunately, the Republicans will have both houses and will probably make it impossible for anyone to ever wrest power from them again.  Also, DD brought up Trump will get to fill 2 more Supreme Court seats.
