I put a pause on cleaning and went to vote. The line was out the door. Normally I go mid-morning, after rush hour but before lunch and I'm done in about five minutes, start to finish. I'm glad to see such a great turnout!

I drove past the polling location here on my way home from getting chai. Voting is at City Hall. The parking lot was full. Our precinct is pretty meaningless in the scheme of things. When I was a poll worker, we never had candidates or signs, etc.
I am hoping I got though to the man in charge of county elections that the ladies left from the days of paper books, etc. do not understand how to set up a precinct so that it is efficient.

I talked to the City Clerk this morning.
The curb and gutter on my street is only for the properties across the street. Those are commercial properties and they will be assessed. That is why I have received no notices about curb and gutter. There is no plan for curb and gutter in the foreseeable future by either the city or county on the residential properties.
The county is resurfacing the street. I will have to park elsewhere and walk in while that is happening. No assessment for that. It is to happen in the spring.
So I can stop worrying about $$ for curb and gutter.

I've seen no difference today or this week but I thinknits time to shake things up just because those are boring. Possums! Cute if you don't have chickens or horses! My BIL told me possums can pass something very deadly to horses through their poop. I didn't know that before! I keep a blink camera on my front porch. Possums and raccoons visit us regularly. I have one very fat possum who is a frequent flyer. I leave treats out for him. My dog has terrorized him a couple of times, so I think I owe it to him. |

After fixing breakfast I spent half an hour in my car trying to set things up like radio presents, correct date and time. Never could figure out how to do seat position presets for different drivers but will try again tomorrow. I did get the toll road tag on the windshield. Somehow DH managed to completely turn off all climate control stuff on his car (everything is touchscreen so I'm sure he hit the wrong spot while doing something else) but eventually got it back on. He also picked up our new license plates but that was a waste of time b/c we have to go back to the dealership to have them mounted as it requires drilling holes in the front bumper.
Author called mid-morning and he has no memory of calling me previously about making corrections on the book, much less making an appointment for yesterday. I agreed he could come Thursday between 10 and 10:30 and said I would call him at 8 am to remind. I asked about the scope of the work and he says it will only take a day or two, but a man who's never sat at a keyboard has no clue. We'll see.

ETA - seeking opinions. what do y'all think? I got an email today, reminding me that I had work brownie points to spend. I think I'm going with this patio set with tan cushions. this link is the mfg website. I've got enough points for the table and either the loveseat or pair of chairs. the brand is available via a few retailers,so I can buy the rest. for the few of you that have been here, do you think I can justify two chairs with the Blackstone still on the deck? it will obv be better to have seating for four than seating for three. but that 4th chair...? Just looked at the number of voters in my precinct who have voted. The number of voters is called in at 11 AM and 3 PM. 3 PM update is not yet online.
As of ll AM 467 had voted at the polling location. I worked elections where we didn't get 500 people in an entire day. Adding that number to the number of early/absentee voters, 45% of voters have voted. That is a good turnout. We would get a rush at lunch, another at 3 PM when the factory workers get off, another when the school workers get off and one after the people who work in Dubuque get home.

We MAY have the modular sold. The park manager said a man applied and has went through all the hurdles so far. He is buying it or she is for his MIL. She thought I knew, but no, its says not to sign a contract until you do all this.
She gave me the names. I sure hope so, that extra $730 a month to pay out is a killer.

I had strep so often in middle school, I'd keep my meds in my locker, too. this is where I learned to swallow pills without a rinse. 🤷♀️ I just can't wrap my brain around the mental gymnastics these people use to justify some of this shit. |

I can't even with these people. One woman I work with has just been on a tirade the last week or so about all the free stuff illegal immigrants get. Free college, free housing, free everything! Um...yeah...I don't really think it's going down the way you think it is. "Oh yes it is! Walz is using our budget surplus for free college for illegals!"
Yeah...that's not quite how that bill is written, it's free college for EVERYONE under a certain income, but apparently that doesn't matter. Even if her kids would qualify (they would), the fact that "illegals" could potentially benefit from it too is all she cares about.
