Congratulations, andi. What an ordeal it's been for you. And it is almost over.
I'm really happy for you.

We've been out-of-town the last two weekends, and this is a quiet weekend at home. We do have a charity event to attend to tonight.
Last weekend was DD#2's baby shower. It went as well as it could.
DH and I have decided to go to Mexico in February--right now I'm looking at resorts in Cancun. If anyone has suggestions or advice about that, please, please share! Eventually, I need to stop playing on the computer and get through the paperwork pile that's built up. I don't know why I've been ignoring it, but I most certainly have. I also need to do some kitchen deep cleaning today. It's amazing how quickly a month goes by and the little things need to be cleaned. But for now, here I sit on my couch in my pajamas. We have been to a couple of resorts in Mexico. We went to Playa del Carmen. First resort we went to was The Reef. It’s a smaller resort, walking distance to Playa and pretty basic. I went there with my sister and her family. When we went, it seemed like it must have been on a German/Danish TA radar as there were a lot of Danes an$ Germans there. TD and I went to a resort by ourselves the last time. This one was called Blue Diamond. It’s adults only (or it was at the time, this was right after I got put back together). I found a package on Costco. It was really nice, definitely a step up from The Reef, but about the same size. I’d definitely stay here again. A friend of mine went to Le Blanc on her honeymoon, and she sad it as quite nice. I try to look for places that have about 200 or so rooms, and try to avoid the huge monstrosities. Both of these resorts are a 30-45 min drive from the Cancun airport.

Good morning, industrious invisipeeps, tending yards and dinners and children and pets and property. Welcome to Saturday. I hope your day is restful and nothing makes you bleed. I hope you enjoy an adult beverage tonight if you imbibe or a fantastic dessert if you do not. This will be a quick post. I was catching up on the last pages before I bring Franklin the Dog to the beach. Yesterday was a wonderful trip into western Mass. DH planned everything including where we ate and the several stops we made. He felt bad that the leaf color peak had passed already in much of the area, but it was still beautiful to me. This is a pic of the statue "Hail to the Sunrise" of a Mohawk greeting the rising sun on the Mohawk Trail: OMG Finn I think this is one of your best yet! I live vicariously through you and it may sound silly but you make me think of my mom. She was always taking pictures.

I can't tell you how many times I've closed on two houses in one day and then moved after the second closing. Not fun.

I stayed at Moon Palace for Hootiefest last year, it was pretty nice. all-inclusive, with a golf course on the grounds. the one thing I found odd was that the bathroom had a huge shower stall in it, while a big soaker tub was right out in the middle of the room. lol... us three singles used it as a place to drape wet swimsuits to dry. 🤣 I have stayed at The Moon Palace before. We also used the tub in the middle of the room, for drying swimsuits and towels. I really enjoyed my time there. I hope you did, as well.

I was still radiating heat 2 days later when we got to Destin for the next music festival. 🙄

Wasn't that when she had a sugar high or low and she wasn't taking care of her medical condition and as a result becoming nasty? yes, but that doesn't really narrow it down. it was an exceptional level of nastiness though. I just wasn't sure how much I'd shared at the time. so here goes... when we talked later that night, she said she was sad that mooch had left after she was a complete c-word. and I said something like why are you sad? you were an asshole! well, she snapped at me about how I'd always take his side, that I had hooked up with him first, and all this other garbage. so clearly it bothered her that he and I had been FWB a long time ago (which *I* put a stop to, long before he ever became my mooching roommate in the last place). well, yesterday was her birthday. at the top of my news feed before I loaded up the day's FB memories, I saw a post from him to her, wishing her a happy birthday. as I'm scrolling through the memories, I noticed a decade+ old check-in at a concert venue that hasn't been around for years, for a band I've only seen on land once - the night that he followed me home from said show and stayed over for the first time. 🤦♀️ so not only does it bother her that I had hooked up with her guy first, we started on her birthday before I ever met her. things I can never say out loud IRL. lol... Honestly, having met them, I'm shocked you stay friends with them. They're nice, but the toxicity level is off the charts with those two.

I just made up a grocery list for a little later. pork rides are on sale, so I'll be making some pozole this afternoon. 🤤 it's also supposed to warm up for the next week, so I'll be opening the windows and airing out the house as well. Girl! You are a pozole addict now! It makes me happy that we got to share that together.

BR light wakes up someone in BR We had one of these in Bangkok. The only difference was that the window was 35 stories above ground. Nothing was peeping in from that height! We also had a window between the bathroom and bedroom several places. In all of these, there were light blocking shades so no light got through to the bedroom, you just had to lower them. I usually don’t turn on lights in the night though, I don’t want to wake myself up too much if I need to make a bathroom run.

I'm not going to bleed to death, we found some good bandages I had for bigger weeping wounds so did good last night. I cleaned it best I could this morning, then put liquid bandage and antibiotic creme so it wouldn't stick. It's about an inch of denuded skin. I will watch it, worry more about infection, may check into minor clinic to see if they have something to help heal it. Going to be a real pain trying to cook.
Little guy went to a craft deal with his mom so he will be back. Tomorrow she is taking him to the trampoline place too. He enjoys that stuff and we do it but not into it all the time.
I think I might try an omelet for lunch. Hubs can help me with it. need to get busy i'm hunting and pecking still.

Isn't pozole the same thing as hominy? I like it drained and fried in some bacon grease.

I posted an update in the 2025 Calendars thread. If you'd like to get one, just let me know. I'll be placing an order on 10/24 for them at the discounted rate. You can pay me after I've let you know they're in hand. You will need to DM me your address unless you're certain I already have it. Cheers, as chiver78 would say.

I am so over Jackson. There is a fly in the house so he's going apeshit. Bro! It's just a fly. Calm down. It might be cute if he was little, but a 100 pound dog barking and jumping around trying to catch it is not cute. I threw my slide at him, but I totally shorted it. I'm going to have to get better at my shoe throwing if I want to be an authentic Mexican mom.

I stayed at a B&B once with a huge bathroom including enormous tub. Someone had turned the closet in the room into a shower. It was an unusual experience; it had obviously been a closet.

First, thank you to those who shared kind words - they were very much appreciated Second, and forgive me if I overlook anyone, it's been a busy week giramomma I'm glad you found a good new-to-you vehicle and hope you really enjoy it. And my heart is with you for next week's procedure Pink Cashmere I am amazed at your mother's apparent rediscovery of her capabilities. You must have made a powerful impression as she "suddenly" got leads on housing and found someone to pay her utilities. Keep up the good work azucena Your story is an incredible first-person account of the flaws in our childcare and medical system. I hope a solid road forward opens for you and BT andi9899 So happy that you are near the finish line on the house-I know it's been exhausting and aggravating. And for offering hospitality to azucena and BT Ava I'm glad you found a solid and affordable insurance provider. We've been with Progressive for 2 years now.

DH and I went car shopping and ended up purchasing 2 so I feel that most of my week was spent at a dealership. Then I would come home to adding and deleting cars on insurance, ordering new toll road tags and such. This coming week I have to set up 2 online accounts for car maintenance and 2 separate accounts for the payments. I am, however, a very happy clam because I got a 0% interest deal on mine which sort of balances DH's 6.9%. DH's car has so much tech he's spending hours trying to figure out all the bells and whistles. My urgent task is figuring out how to change the date because my car thinks it's June 28, 2024. And I need to figure out the windshield wipers in case it ever rains which seems unlikely.

There are some bathroom stories I can tell with all the years of traveling but since we are going for weird: about 16 or so years ago DSis2 and I took a tour to Ireland - we both refuse to drive in a country where they drive on the left side of the road though it IS in Europe so she would have been on the hook - hence the tour. Anyway, we got into a small town where we stayed overnight. There was a shower over the tub in the bathroom. Nothing weird there though the anti splash thing was a half glass door which opened. Somewhat strange since you could just step in next to that door. Until...I used the toilet and could not find out how to flush. That is when the mystery of the shower door revealed itself -> you had to open the shower to get to the handle to flush the toilet*. The hotel bad some other "inventive" solutions and oddities but this one has stayed with me for all those years though granted, we did take a photo of this one to show to our family as proof * just for the record, when you opened that door it blocked the toilet so no quick flush while you were still going about your business

Isn't pozole the same thing as hominy? I like it drained and fried in some bacon grease. What Chiver and Andi are referring to is a classic Mexican pork stew made with hominy and dried chiles. Locally, it's topped with chopped raw onions, fresh chopped jalapenos, chopped cilantro and shredded cabbage. It's really good. We have it for breakfast or lunch on the weekends at our local taqueria. That and a giant mug of fresh-squeezed orange juice (they squeeze it when you order it) and you are good for the day.

I have that, and a UV light thingy that I'll plug in overnight to catch fruit flies. that thing was the 4am Amazon delivery that scared the hell out of all of us. happy to share links to either

I stayed in a huge house in Gatlinburg with a bunch of my mom's extended family back in 2010. I'm guessing one of the selling points was all of the bedrooms having bathrooms? Some of them were nice but the one in the room I shared with my mom was in what used to be two closets. There was a shower stall in one and a sink and toilet in another. They did a bang up job on the plumbing adding all those bathrooms and had leaks. A full bowl full of water came crashing through the ceiling tiles in one room.
At Sandals La Toc in St Lucia we had a bathtub on the deck. There were curtains to close on the deck but nothing blocking the view from inside the room. I'm guessing though non romantic couples are not shelling out the cash for a Sandals butler suite.
We missed being able to grab the express lanes north at Fredericksburg by 5 minutes. We were able to get over a few miles later and it was worth whatever the toll was.
