Azucena no I certainly didn’t mean she should tough it out cause she’s obese and poor Just commenting on some issues that exist Suggest if you can , go back to dental school ( is this the only one in your state?). She at very least seems to need an infection in that tooth treated

I swear I'm never buying another house again. This whole process has been so overwhelming! I'm so over it. When we were signing the paperwork after about two hours I didn't care if I was signing up to be a human centipad I just signed it to get it over with. I haven't even gotten to that part yet. Plus all the cleaning, packing, painting in my near future. Ugh!

I swear I'm never buying another house again. This whole process has been so overwhelming! I'm so over it. I have had some very stressful purchases in the past. When we initially tried to sell our first house the sale fell apart and we had done some work on the house we were purchasing just to get the house past inspection. We ended up eating the $$ we had invested and letting the purchase fall apart. What is causing you problems? Just the whole process. Why not just waive the inspection vs putting money in a house that isn't yours?

azucena this is very likely a shot in the dark, but have you tried taking her to the ER? I wonder if that can’t be a round about way of getting her treatment since her pain is so bad. I don’t know if this will work, but it’s what I did to get myself admitted to the hospital in Seattle when I was infected and my surgeon was out of town. If her tooth is that bad and an ongoing infection, perhaps this might work? There is some history in that a child on Medicaid showed up in the ER with an infected tooth, they were blown off and the child died from sepsis. Maybe this situation can get some sort of traction, hopefully this event wasn’t so far in the past that the hospital has forgotten. I’d try to choose the ER strategically though. You want a hospital that has a department of oral and maxillofacial surgery. I do agree with your lists of concerns that must come before weight. Other things take priority.

How far are you from Kansas City? UMKC has a dental school that it does look like they have residency programs in oral surgery. Unfortunately, the link above does not, it looks like it only goes as far as dental education. For some reason, I can’t get into UMKC dental schools web page. None of the links provided work. A solid 4 hours from KC. Six more rejections. Tagged in school district head social worker. Here's hoping she has more luck, resources and bandwidth. UMKC is less than 15 minutes from the new place. If they will take her, you guys can stay with me. I was going to wait to furnish the extra bedrooms, but I'll just buy the futons I was going to put in the office and basement and put them in the extra bedrooms for now. I work from home, so it's not like a sleeping/recovering teen or you tending to her is going to bother me in my upstairs office.

Considering that but teen and I are both very, very nervous that bio won't authorize discharge to me. I do know which hospital that would be if it comes to that.

Question for people who have made stuffed peppers, which apparently is a giant pain in the ass, anywho, is the world going to end that one pepper is missing the stem on it's cover? I cut them and was getting rid of the seeds but the stem popped right out of one of them. There's no putting it back because it was a giant seed ball but I don't know if it will affect the cooking time? Which is a whole 'nother story. My crockpot will only hold 2 Apparently I bought really big ones and didn't't realize I got rid of the big crockpot, not the little. So 3 are going into the Insta-Pot and one in the crockpot. At least I have enough plugs. Just not patience!

On the off chance that soupandstew still reads here - just waving hi. This "Dutchie" sure misses your posts including those about Houston as I have limited ability to find out how life is in other (not CA) states aside from reading about it on these boards. I also love reading about your perspective on things

Cookies Galore - I just got the reminder this morning to cancel the free trial of MS365 and go to Best Buy for a cheaper price (it's $69.99 there rn) and I have a question - will I get a product key from BB? I haven't poked around the overall MS Office pages much yet to figure out my way around. TIA! You should get all that when you order it. At this point I just renew every year and don't have to bother with anything.

oh good, for future renewals. I was just more worried about the initial one off the free trial, and if I'd be wasting the $70 if things went sideways with the transfer. so once I do this via BB, the renewals are seamless. that's totally okay!

Big pot of spaghetti sauce is now simmering on the stove. The next question is ‘are we going to lose power now?’. The wind is really whipping the trees around, I wouldn’t be surprised if we did.

I typically cut the peppers in half and remove whatever stem and nearby mess needs to go, and then bake them as flat halves. probably not what you wanted to hear, but just another option. 🤷♀️

I had a laugh this morning, that i need to share for irony, but there really isn't anyone IRL I can share this one with. but I also don't think y'all have enough background. so let me ask this - did I vent here about M upending a gameboard last summer ('23) and the few weeks where we didn't speak after I called her out on her bad behavior?
I'll totally share the irony here, just need to know how much background I also need to share. 🤷♀️

It was 33 years ago. My dad did the work (electrical). I don't remember why he did it before close. I think maybe it was the type of loan we were doing that they would catch the issue and make the owner fix it, and it was a divorce situation and her $$ were very tight. I think it had to be as is. We waited a few years then sold the house agreeing to a tight close. We needed to go from Accepted offer to purchase in 10 days, and they did manage to pull it off. Next house DH insisted on giving our notice on the exact day our new build was supposed to be completed. I wanted 30 days leeway. He would not listen to me. So we had to move out of the house we sold the day before closing b/c there was an occupancy inspection that was no complete in time.

Luckily I Had most of the meal prepared. I was making slaw and instead of getting my processor out, I was using one of those slide things. I had most of it done and knew to be careful but slipped and cut a big chunk out of my 3rd finger on my right hand. I have been bleeding like crazy, hubs had put 3 big bandages on me in the last hour or so and I have bloody towels all over. We may have finally slowed it down a bit. I had all kinds of blood stop stuff and since we moved can't find but one little one. I hope we still have it. We were wondering if I would have to go to the minor clinic, but think it will be ok.
So hubs put the ham in the oven and my rolls are almost ready to bake. I want to make fried corn but need hubs help, haven't had it in awhile and DD likes it.
Whoops forgot to post this.
I told them dinner was ready at 5 and it is. I told hubs if they are not here by 6 we are eating. I don't want cold rolls, stuff reheated multiple times, they can eat but I want mine fresh. They are always late.

I have not been back on the boards at all since I posted the picture of Newbie laying on my bed the other night, so I’m way behind again.
She seems to be okay, she gobbled down her food, breakfast and dinner, staring the morning after, so I’m not sure why she refused to eat her food that day. My worry was that she is a slug anyway, so even if she’s just laying around and not doing anything, that’s pretty much her normal, and not a good clue as to whether or not she’s not feeling well. But she IS greedy, and tries to bully us into feeding her and/or giving her treats, so that was a big red flag when she didn’t eat her dinner. But she is eating now, so I hope that means she is okay.
I am not okay myself, but I don’t really want to get into all of that since it’s just more of the same old shit.
Yesterday, my Mom told me that “ironically”, the manager of some senior housing contacted her yesterday about an application she submitted in 2022, and wants to meet with her Monday. She asked if I would take her and go with her, I said yes.
Also, the treasurer of our church paid to get the utilities turned back on today for my Mom, on behalf of our church, so it’s back on, as of a couple hours ago.
I really, really don’t want to get into religion and all of that, I just want to make the point that some churches really do, do good things. I will leave that at that.

Spoke to the banker today. The amount I need to bring to the closing table is about $3,500 less than what I thought it would be. Yay!

I'm disappointed I only get 10 days between closing and turning in my keys. I couldn't imagine one day.

I opened the overhead door in the garage and backed out my car. Clicked the button on the remote to shut the door and it came down a few inches and stopped. Clicked it again and it went back up the few inches. I tried it a few times, same thing happened. I got out of the car and went back into the garage and pushed the button near the door that goes into the house. Same thing happened. (So the remote was not the problem.). Went back out and tried the keypad. Same thing happened.
I was running late for an appointment and had to leave so I pulled down on the rope that disengages the door from the opener, closed the door, and left the house. When I returned I started to troubleshoot. The remote, keypad, and button near the door to the house all worked while the door was disengaged from the opener. But the opener's chain would not reconnect to the door. I watched a few YouTube videos, read the opener manual's troubleshooting section, and still couldn't get it to work.
I did finally fix it myself, but only after I'd called the garage door company and arranged for a service call. Luckily they couldn't fit me in until next week. I still have that appointment so I can give my door/opener a workout and will have time to cancel the appointment if everything continues to work.
Having once called for service on my garage door opener in my last place, I know how pricey it can be. Fingers crossed I really did fix it.

andi9899, I've moved across town and across the country. Moving across town was more of a pain than moving cross country. You think you can move yourself locally little by little and it takes FOR.EVER. and is stressful and exhausting. With a long distance move, the big door goes down on the back of the truck and that part of the move is done. There's a nice finality to it. Maybe you've got some cleaning to do at the old place, but what's going with you is gone and you'll see it again on the other end. (Hopefully.) I suggest you try not to take 10 days to complete your move. You might be tearing your hair out by the end. However you do it, we are cheering you on and are excited you are moving into a place of your own again.

And….we lost power…briefly. From what I have been seeing online, trees are down all over town. Hopefully, we will be spared this time.
TD fired up the generator the other day, so we will have some power if we lose it. The generator is sufficient to run the blower for the heat, lights, router and tv. No stove.

That's great that she got the utilities turned back on. If she ends un in assisted living, what will you do with your house, or have you even gotten that far yet. I really haven’t gotten that far yet. I recently calculated that once it’s paid off, what I could get for fmv rent, would be more in less than 10 years, than what I would get if I sold it this year. But that doesn’t include the money I’d have to spend to get it ready to rent, or the headache of being a landlord, even though I would have a far easier time legally evicting a stranger, than my Mom. I’m just saying that I know there are costs associated with owning a rental that have to be factored into making that decision. Also, with my current situation regarding where I live now, I am really nervous about selling my house. Even if I sell it, it’s not worth enough to make buying another house “easy” at this point in my life. So even though I’d really prefer not to live there again, I am kind of scared to sell it, in case I need somewhere to lay my head and have to just suck it up and go back there, because I’m not in a position to buy another house in an area I’d be at least somewhat comfortable living in, given the current local housing market. I’m not sure that I’m making sense, trying to explain, please forgive me if I’m not.
