Went to lunch with a couple of friends for a, belated, birthday celebration. It was good and now I am doing my civic duty by keeping the entire county free of vampires - those garlic fries were really good and garlicky Did I miss your birthday? Sorry about that! I hope you enjoyed it. It is not on this board so, no you didn't miss it.

My lovely neighbour lady came by again, this time with soup, chicken and noodles in a lovely sweet sauce. I tried to refuse, but she wasn't having it. How can I refuse without insuting her? Groceries aren't cheap and she has 2 little kids and a husand who was laid off. I can't keep accepting her food. I can't cook something and give it to them, as it probably won't be halal enough. They have very strict dietary laws. Offering her money would be hugely insulting. If you can get to store maybe give her some fruit and berries for the children A nice memory I have - we lived in apartment upstairs from in-laws till we bought our first house. FIL came by with some special fruit for the children every day A huge navel orange, strawberries etc

There are days I curse my FIL.
Fridge is getting frosty. Logic says coils are clogged up with dust.
Pull fridge out..lots of dust. It tracks so far with Google.
DH is driving me nuts with insisting we call someone and I don't know it's dirty coils blah blah blah.
His father taught him absolutely nothing about home maintenance and it's a key area we're still battling his learned helplessness in.
I had to pay $250 once to have an AC company squirt WD40 in our motor because he refused to acknowledge I may know something he doesn't.
AC was trying to turn on but the blades weren't moving. Google says motor needs lube.
Oh I don't know anything I'll break it you can't trust Google! $250!!! They said the same fing thing!!!
The next time it happened I didn't even tell him I did it myself.
Should have known with the fridge but I need his help to move it.

I never get tired of the Ryan Reynolds and Betty White video that pops on my Facebook feed. You forget that Betty White could have a mouth on her so when she swears it's hysterical. That and the thought of Rose Niland saying those things is hilarious.

If you have pets in the house, you need to clean your frig, return air ducts and furnace filters more often than people without fur friends. Our pets slept in a mud room between the garage and kitchen. So much hair!!! I eventually taped a thin piece of fiberglass furnace filter to the back side of the return air register. It was icky how fast that return air grate got full of hair.

We had our air ducts done last year. I don't think they had ever been cleaned.🤯
Furnace filter I got constant lectures about from dad so it's habit.
I regularly hose down the AC to remove the tree fuzzies during the summer.
I admit I don't always think about the fridge.

I had the dryer vents cleaned this summer for the first time in my life--any dryer I have ever owned.
I'm surprised the house had not burned down.
I've never had the vents done.

On another random note that doesn’t really mean anything, last night after Mister finished grilling, I fixed my plate and put it in the microwave, and went and took a shower. That’s something I regularly do, fix my plate and put it in the microwave to eat after I shower. YD came home as I was leaving the kitchen. When I went back in the kitchen my plate was gone. Mister was in bed when I got out of the shower, and had already eaten and was in the back of the house when I fixed my plate, so I knew he didn’t eat it. So I knocked on YD’s bedroom door, which was locked even though Mister has always been adamant that they don’t lock doors in his house. I had to keep knocking because there was no response. She finally opened the door and I asked if she’d got my plate out of the microwave. She said Mister told her that there was a plate for her in the microwave. I don’t really believe that. We have 2 microwaves, and if Mister really told her that, there would’ve been a plate in the other microwave, and there wasn’t. And while Mister does cook sometimes to make sure she has something to eat, I’ve NEVER known him to go so far as to fix her a plate and put it in the microwave for whenever she gets to it. I just went and fixed me another plate and haven’t mentioned it to Mister, because Idek if it’s worth mentioning, even though it did irritate me. I know you have a lot going on with you separate of Mister but I would say something. You have been biting your tongue for far too long, IMO. I did end up mentioning it to Mister. He said he’d told her that the meat was in the microwave, which I’d just put in the refrigerator when she came home.

They did our dryer vent for us free of charge when replacing the furnace since that duct needed to go too. I'm equally surprised our house didn't burn down considering all the PSAs I've seen about making sure your dryer vent is clean. We had shit coming out of the HVAC ducts that I'm pretty sure the original owner dropped.

Back from getting shot up. Flu, Covid and pneumonia. Stopped at the store to pick up some beef stock and mushrooms, cleaned up the kitchen and have got the meat simmering for stew tonight.

Well, it looks like my current choices are a 2020 crosstrek with under 40K that's used certified. Worst case, we're looking at 24K which I'm not thrilled about. Other option is a 2017 cross trek with 65K. That should come at 17K. Is the extra 7K worth it? I'm trying to like an outback and I just cannot do it. I'm also going to get a loan until our finances settle down a little bit and we figure out what, if any, needs-based aid DD1 might get.
Especially now, I want the cash on hand to deal with my medical stuff.
What say you all?
I'd go with the newer, lower mileage.

This afternoon while I was at work, I got an alert on my phone that someone was spotted in my driveway. I looked at it, and it was Mister, getting out of the Tahoe, which was beside my car, like he’d stopped there while backing out of the driveway. When he got out, he was inspecting the side of the Tahoe.
I went back and looked to see what happened just before that, and saw that what I thought was correct, he’d just hit my car. What really made me mad was that when he got out, he didn’t even look toward my car, even once, but he inspected the entire side of the Tahoe.
I called him and yelled at him. He said my car wasn’t damaged and tried to tell me he’d just brushed it. No sir! I saw the video, my car moved when you hit it. I ended up hanging up on him.
These last couple of days have been rough for me, and of course my stomach has been acting a fool since Monday night. I did not feel good at work all day today, and I already was not in a good mood.
When I got home I asked him what is wrong with him, can he not drive, since he’s had 2 “wrecks” in less than 5 days.
I am putting my baby back in the damn garage. I’m still mad at him.

Yes, the only way I knew it had happened and called him, was because of the cameras, since I was at work at the time. I went and looked at it as soon as I got home, there are some small black marks on the front near the bumper (the Tahoe is black), but I didn’t see any dings or dents.

I might be wrong, and please tell me if I am. Isn't your current car a Subaru? And it is dying/dead at only 90k miles? If so, have you thought about looking at other brands? The concerns I have heard about Subarus are head gaskets and the CVT. To be honest, I had a Honda and the trouble it gave me (new brakes/rotors every single year, etc.) plus the hatred I have for the local dealership have turned me off from Hondas, even though I know they get a lot of love from people for reliability, etc. But fool me once and all that.

Ds just bought a hurdy gurdy. Or at least handed me cash, sent me the link and asked me to order it. I need to get him a debit card ASAP. I also mentioned he might want to reconsider being a surgeon. He's going to need to make good money to support his interest in rare instruments.

I am not at all trying to dismiss your experience with Hondas, but my “baby” that I am upset with Mister about tonight, is a 2003 Honda that I bought new. But if I’m honest, I think that part of the reason I have had what became a good experience with my current Honda is because of the service advisor I met at the Honda dealership when I had the Honda Accord before the current one. That first Accord was problematic with transmission issues. It only had 6 miles in it when I bought it, and I started having issues with the transmission while it was still under warranty. It had transmission issues again just after the warranty expired, and I fussed and fought with the manager of the service department after they told me my transmission needed to be replaced and it would cost $5k. I told him I wasn’t giving them $5 to fix my car, because something was wrong with the transmission when they sold it to me brand new, and while it was under warranty, they just kept patching it up and giving it back to me, so THEY were gonna pay for a new transmission, not me. Long story short(er), I was so persistent and adamant, that he ended up telling me that Honda had agreed to replace my transmission at no cost to me, as a courtesy. Whatever, just fix my damn car. It was during that time that I met my guy, a service advisor at the time. When I was being nice nasty and insisting they fix my car and I wasn’t paying for it. I do know how to switch up to handle business in an appropriate manner, even though I might still get slick with my mouth, but in a way that just politely says not to play with me. But I was addressing the service department manager with all of that, and not the service advisor. Somebody, I’m not saying who, told me that Honda knew the transmissions in the model year of my car were problematic, but they wouldn’t issue a recall. Anyway, after they “replaced” the transmission, I had another problem with it. So I went to the dealer and told them I was tired of them playing with me with that car, and I wanted a new one, and I expected them to give me a good deal on it. That is how I ended up with my current Honda. After I bought it, I wrote a a real letter to the dealer’s manager and said that when I decided to replace the car, the ONLY reason I even considered buying another Honda, was because of the outstanding service I received from my service advisor with my previous Honda. Which was true. Somebody actually read my letter, because the service advisor told me at some point that he appreciated me writing it, and I didn’t tell him I’d done that. So he is now the manager of the service department at another Honda dealer, and I followed him there, because I trust him to make sure my car is taken care of when I bring it in. My car has over 200k miles on it now, but she still runs like a champ. Some people IRL think it’s odd that I still take my old ass car to a dealer for maintenance and repairs, but I honestly believe that that is part of the reason she is still going strong and I haven’t had a lot of issues that weren’t just normal wear and tear, because I trust him to tell me what’s best for my car, and not just tell me anything just to make some money off of me, and because I trust him, I do whatever he advises. Since Mister bought his Honda a few years ago, my guy also makes sure Mister’s car is taken care of when he brings it in, and when Mister had to have some work done on HIS transmission earlier this year, he gave Mister the same kind of treatment he’s always given me, because he knew Mister was my SO. Anyway, I am really just rambling about all of that, because I am trying not to think about the mess that my life is. But it’s still a true story.

I need to remember to try and get it scheduled tomorrow for one of the days I'm taking PTO. I'd rather have fur/dust flying around before I move in and be able to clean it up before my furniture comes in. The previous owners have a dog. Also, the new house doesn't have any carpet which is a blessing and a curse. It won't hold in smells, but it will show everything so I will have to sweep all the time instead of vacuuming once a week.

o.m.g. Just put my picture in the dictionary beside the definition of crazy.
Somehow, Mister and I ended up talking about him hitting my car. The point I was trying to make was that the cameras showed that he was more concerned about the Tahoe after he hit my car, and if it had been his car instead, he would’ve inspected it like he did the Tahoe. Plus, if it had been his car and me driving the Tahoe, I would’ve been “in trouble” regardless of whether of not his car was damaged.
Which led to me talking about how it seems like my belongings don’t really matter, as far as being damaged or just disappearing.
That led to him saying that the package on the table in the breakfast nook, contains glasses to replace the ones that are missing. We literally have only 3 or 4 glasses left, even though we had 2 full sets of “every day” glasses from each of our homes when we moved here, and I’ve already bought another set myself since we’ve moved here, after they first started disappearing. He also had a set of glasses that I don’t like and we don’t use, and are stored in another cabinet, separate from the “everyday” glasses, and some of them are missing now, too.
Then he said he’d also bought some more towels. I asked what made him do that. He said because the towels in the linen closet in our bathroom were scarce. I hadn’t even brought that up. I like white towels, and I don’t like reusing towels. So at my other house, I had at least 14 face and bath towels, just for me, and at least a dozen more of each, for whoever else was at my house. When I helped him get settled into his place before we moved here, I bought dozens of towels for there too.
When we moved here, I bought light and gray towels to match the color of our en suite bathroom, and put the millions of white towels from both of our previous homes, in the the linen closet in the hall bathroom that his daughters used. It was very clear by color, which towels belonged where. But the gray towels slowly disappeared anyway. I’ve never said anything about that, but he is clearly not as obtuse as he tries to pretend to be sometimes, because he obviously noticed it if he bought more towels.
I can’t help but keep wondering if I’m a crazy person since everybody closest to me does so much crazy stuff, and I’m the common denominator, so I keep wondering if it’s just me that’s crazy and the problem.

Another worrisome thing for me tonight, when I got home, Mister asked me to check on Newbie because she didn’t eat her dinner. She is a greedy monster that somehow knows when dinner time is (5pm) and will prance and hop around around that time, wanting to be fed.
When I got home today, I tried to entice her by putting her food in my hand to try to hand feed her. She was not interested. I know they like bread, so I got a slice of bread and tore pieces off of it to see if she would eat it. She did. Then Mister ended up taking the dry food away and putting down the wet food that he mixes with their dry food, and she did eat that.
Mister went to bed before I did, and he and Boy went to bed in the other bedroom, when I came in the back of the house, Newbie was laying on the foot of my bed. She has started a new thing with sleeping on my bed occasionally during the last couple of months, but it’s only been a few times. Tonight was the first time I came into the bedroom and she was already on my bed, even though Mister and Boy were gone to bed in another bedroom.
As much as I don’t like dogs on my bed, I dare not kick her off of it, because I am worried that she might not be feeling well. I’d rather cuddle with her and love on her, even if it’s on my bed, than shoo her away when I think she might not be feeling well.
Please God, don’t let anything be seriously wrong with Newbie. This is stressful because the day before OG died, she wouldn’t eat her food either. I am sure Mister is thinking about that too. I sat on the floor with OG for a while that night, rubbing on her to try to comfort her, and telling her how much I wished she could tell me what she was feeling so I could try to fix it for her. But of course she couldn't tell me what was wrong or how she was feeling, and less than 24 hours later, she was gone.
Please God, don’t let Newbie be seriously sick or something,

This is my current situation with Newbie and she’s on my bed. I’m not going to kick her off, I will keep checking in her until I fall asleep. And I am about to try to go to sleep now. Talk to y’all tomorrow!

Happytaow Birthday to Nasty Wman. And Pink, hope Newbie is ok.
Hubs has stopped letting Tigger sleep with us. He is so big he takes up a lot of hubs bed and he couldn't get his feet comfortable. I know Tig isn't really happy but I understand hubs. I said while you are at it move that damn clock on the floor as every time I get up or open my eyes at night that bright light is in them, so we both changed some things. Honestly we are both sleeping better. Smoke is ok, he sleeps on grandsons bed, the couch, or one of our recliners. But poor Tig sleeps on top of the grandfather clock. We left their big cat climbing post and beds and I'm sure they miss that. We had nowhere to put it. So a lot of change for them.
Today was beautiful, the trees are orange, red, and yellow, just gorgeous.
We had to drive near the capital for her heart doc and after we left hubs drove around for awhile. It was so nice out today. But we are also only 5 miles from the capital, still we covered a lot of area. Then we went over to Capital Mall and went to Appleby's for lunch, we had not been to one of those in years. It was pretty good. So we had a nice day.
After that DD and I went to Walmart, got her a bunch of stuff and got our flu and covid shots. I think I feel ok, will know in the morning.
We checked on her Ozempic, they said $1100 for one month over the phone, said bring all the insurance cards. I did and the tech at the counter said we couldn't get it till the 24th and he couldn't see the price. I'm panicking, bet neither of us can continue getting it. I have a several months supply so am ok but don't know what we can do. Just can't fork over that kind of money for it. We will see what we can do after the 24th. I know she will regain the weight without it and likely more. That will likely kill her by putting a strain on her heart. I think Indiana would have done the same, something is going on with Medicaid as she would have been dropped there too now, as they changed and lowered the amount of money you can get. And no one could even live on it unless you lived in a slum rathole some where and I doubt even then. They limit the income to $943 a month to be eligible.
And I see she was declined a visit to an endocrinologist?? But could be because they are short staffed. She needs that for pre diabetes check, thyroid monitoring, and glucose monitoring. I've been worried about such as this happening even back home. I told hubs we may just need to see if she can pay for a supplement with this regular part D and she may be better off. And need to find out if we have to pay that $2800 deductible by March 2025. I'm trying to stay calm, but this is going to stress me at some point.
If you see edits on my posts, I have started saving the info periodically and editing the post as there is something I'm hitting on this keyboard that wipes out my posts, haven't figured it out yet, so better safe then sorry.
The kids are coming over Friday night for dinner, so that will be nice.
My budget is going pretty good. DD and I have to go to Pennys tomorrow to return some clothes as they don't fit grandson and also TJ Maxx. I'm trying to catch up on running around so we can get back to working on the house.

Good morning, diligent invisipeeps, keeping vents, airways and floors clean and cars humming along despite the hell that is Other People including SO's. Welcome to Thursday. Wow, that was fast. Having Monday be a holiday makes the week so much shorter. I hope your day is serene and satisfying. I hope you have great luck at some unexpected venture. I hope no one leaves a pile in your path. Today will be a day of organizing and preparing for shows to come. Tomorrow we leave early for leaf peeping. We'll be gone until late. I'll start with a walk on the beach, then do a Costco run, then a telehealth appointment. Then, purging some electronic files and maintainence on the laptop I use so heavily and running through prints for the show next weekend. I need to place an order at the printer by the 25th. Saturday is a Halloween party at my nephew's. DH and I are going as salt and pepper. I hope Newbie is okay, Pink Cashmere. I'm eating coffee oreo ice cream for breakfast. I feel wildly decadent. Yesterday wound up being a wash. DH was extremely irritable and down. I asked him, was he depressed, and he admitted he was, to the point that he was unable to do anything about it. So I arranged an emergent telehealth appointment for him, that helped. He's going to have some tweaking of his meds. I'm not certain but I think part of the problem for him may be that he's turning 75 on Tuesday. I did see the sun rise yesterday into a clear bright, bright, bright sunshiny day:

OMG- I am outside, in the rain, because the building fire detector is going off at 3:30 in the morning! WTF?!
Other people are not coming outside. There is one car with people in it. I wonder how long I'm supposed to stay out here?

Well, that's a half hour of my life, I won't get back. I called 911 and inquired. Apparently, a fire extinguisher was released somewhere. Ugh.
I am back inside now, wishing I was asleep still.
Why do people do stupid stuff like that?
I am surprised by the lack of concern shown by most people. Standing out in the rain, in the dark, is not a good time. But at least I'm safe.

We really should be hitting the road soon, but both kids are still in bed and I'm not feeling super motivated either.
