In other news, Saturday afternoon, Mister sent me pictures of 2 busted tires and scratched up wheels on the Mustang. I immediately called him and said WTF. He said he was waiting on a tow truck. I said “What the hell were you doing”. He said “Mustang stuff”. So of course I wanted to know wth “Mustang stuff” was. He said he punched it and the car went sideways instead of straight and he hit the curb. He was very calm about it, I was more upset than he was. He said he considered not telling me because he figured I’d fuss at him, but he had to order new tires and they won’t be in until Wednesday, so I was going to see it anyway when I got home. Hopefully the damage to the wheels is just cosmetic and they aren’t bent. I said “well, it’s your car and you’re the one that’s gotta pay to fix it. So the only thing imma say is you better figure out why it went sideways so you know how to prevent it from happening again. You’re lucky you just busted your tires and didn’t have a real wreck”. We already knew it will fishtail on turns, but not that it would go sideways if you’re going straight. So now he’s sad that he’s off work today and the weather is perfect, but he can’t go out and play. Not to scare you, but many years ago I lived near a highway. At the time, the only vehicles I've ever seen that flipped over & landed on their roofs were Mustangs. I think they're very attractive cars, but that cured me from every wanting to own one. I'm glad Mister didn't get hurt, but tell him to NEVER "play" with a Mustang in the snow. They just don't hold the road. The word Ford is enough for me.

That would drive me batty. My mom.was saying something about this one day. She was saying how she doesn't understand why someone would want to live in the country. I told her those people probably don't understand why one would want to live in the city. Different people have different preferences. I wasn't even talking about the country. Living in a city of 27-57K is not living in the country.

In 1965 my friend bought a new Mustang. Even then they were notorious for spinning out due to low rear end weight and overpowered.

I'm done with designing the 2025 calendars. I'm going to start a thread on how to order just in case anyone is interested. I can get a discount on them if I order within the next week, so I need a show of hands.

Talked to J last night. All 3 are sick with something. They said it's probably Covid but they are not going to test. I am happy I decided not to go to Toronto for my birthday. So J was telling me the ages of his daddy and mommy and himself. He wrote them on a wipe erase board. Then he asked me how old I am. He wrote it on the board. Then he said "that's a really big number!" He was playing a game about the solar system. He was quite disgusted because it had Pluto on it as the 9th planet and Pluto is not a planet. I've been sick for about 10 days. I thought it was Covid, but it was seasonal flu. I felt like I was hit by a Mack truck. When I inquired about getting a flu shot, it was too early, and they weren't doing them yet. Get your flu shots, people! if you canfixed that for you. I've never had a flu shot, for various shit I'm allergic to. I wasn't even sure I could have a COVID shot once I heard about the shellfish caution on the Pfizer mRNA vax flavor. the J&J was off the table as it followed the general mfg process/science as typical flu shots. those were the only 3 approved in the US at the start I havent checked since my last booster. now if some company wants to figure out an mRNA flu shot, count me in!

I do have a 3 year old and a 13 year old. There are instructions to call or look online. I’ve done both and the message hasn’t been update for this coming week. if it were me, I'd take screen shots of the website not being updated, and if possible, record the voicemail message of the same. and then don't go. you've got evidence that you weren't told to report.

Pink Cashmere I am so glad you enjoyed your time away - San Antonio and the Riverwalk is a very fun destination that we've visited many times. DH was actually born in San Antonio. I'm also glad only the Mustang and not the Mister got damaged. A floaty rear end can be slightly improved by concrete blocks or bags of concrete in the trunk.

About half of the performance cars I know of will go sideways even on a track. They shouldn't but they do. It was really bad in the 80's and 90's. You eventually learn to steer the car to correct that, but it does and has happened. Be thankful you don't have to pay for the tires and re-balancing. I am also glad you refused to drive his "baby" and it was him that jinked the curb. I'm glad you got some time away just for yourself. It sounds like you had a decent bit of fun. Yes, I was really glad it wasn’t me driving! I still haven’t driven it since the first day we brought it home, when I drove it for about 5 minutes lol.

He doesn’t even drive it in the rain, so he definitely won’t try to drive it in the snow. When it snows, he either drives the Tahoe or the Jeep. The only time he doesn’t hate the Jeep is when there is snow on the ground. I’ve seen Mustang GT’s referred to as high performance cars that often have low performance drivers. There seems to be a learning curve to being able to do “Mustang stuff” correctly.

I got back from San Antonio last night. I had a good time. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk, and I never got back in a vehicle until it was time to go back to the airport. I walked for miles though, all over the Riverwalk and the surrounding area. The first day, we got to our hotel around 7am, and me and the young lady from Nashville basically walked around until 9pm. Neither of us had been to sleep since we’d gone to work the morning before. I really enjoyed the Riverwalk. Our 3rd day, we did the tour on a boat that takes you around the area. I got pranked my second day. A big potted plant had appeared on the side walk next to our hotel. I was walking past it by myself and the plant came to life and scared the crap out of me. It was a man camouflaged as a plant. So I might end up on the Internet eventually. I’ve seen those videos before on FB. The last night, we were getting drinks “to go” at a bar on the Riverwalk next to our hotel. A young lady B, was with us, it was her first time attending the seminar. B got into it with the bartender and I thought we might have Tom fight our way out. I’d given her a $20 bill to pay for my drink, so she could order mine with hers, since the bar was so crowded. The bartender put both drinks on the young lady’s card and kept the $20. B started off politely correcting the bartender, but she had a nasty attitude and kept calling us bitches while she was pouring another customer’s drink while we were waiting on the manager. That’s when B got unruly. The manager came, straightened it out, said he’d talk to the bartender, and offered us free shots. We drank our shots and left with our drinks we’d bought. If not for that incident we might have stayed for a minute, because they were playing good music and people were having fun. We hung out until about 3am Saturday night, so of course I was looking crazy when I had to get up yesterday morning to check out. It was a nice break from home and I did enjoy myself. I think I stayed there the last time I was in San Antonio. Back at that time, I knew where the good places to eat along the Riverwalk were located. It's been so long now that I'm not sure that the good places are still in existence. There are definitely a lot of places to try! I think the guy on the boat tour said there are over 50 restaurants on the Riverwalk.

CLAY cat litter, not the clumping kind. The clumping kind will get into your tire treads and you will NEVER get it out. It can also help provide traction on ice. Personally, when I've been stuck on the ice, I use my car mats under the offending tires, and I'm out in a jiffy. Be careful, though.....the traction can cause your mat to go sailing over the treetops, but you're out in a jiffy.

Milo the Chonk has been showing up in my FB feed these days. The cat's owner is quite clever. Earlier today, I watched a video clip as to how Milo and Poppy (Milo's cat sidekick) lured Beckham (the dog) into his kennel. Beckham will not push open a door, so the cats trap Beckham and the poor dog is left waiting.
I'm easily amused.

The difference is knowing which ones are good that the locals eat at, and which ones cater to the tourists. Unfortunately, the vast majority of them cater to the tourists and aren't as good as the ones the locals hit. San Antonio has some of the best dive restaurants I've ever eaten at. When you go into a Mexican restaurant at 2 am and you're the only Anglo there, you know you've gone to a good place!!

If I hadn’t seen a Hellcat on a video just a few weeks ago, trying to go sideways instead of straight, I probably wouldn’t have believed Mister’s story. Do you know how a person learns to avoid it? Besides not driving fast lol.

That's not a city.....it's a small town. I'm a Big City girl. To me, small town is under 1000 people. A couple bars and maybe a corner store. I owned a summer cottage in a town of 5,000 souls. While it was fine for weekends on the lake, it would make me absolutely crazy to live there year-round. A couple of large grocery stores, a few biker honky-tonks, a church and BBQ places, and that's it. No theatres, no museums, nothing else. I think there was an ostrich farm and that's it. Everybody knew each others' business.

Took Abby to see Coraline the musical yesterday at The Rose. She said it was boring because it followed the book instead of the claymation movie. Theatre does not seem to really be her thing which makes me sad. Maybe when she gets older. Gwen will see a show with me every once and awhile. I feel like I have very little in common with my kids, which isn't a bad thing because they should have their own interests and be their own people but it can be a bummer to not have kids interested in sharing things with me. I was hoping at least one of them would be a drama kid. I really enjoyed the play myself. I wouldn't say it's in my top 10 but it was enjoyable and I really liked the actress who played Other Mother. none of my kids are likely musical. it's a core part of me. it is what it is. they also don't like my hobbies. i try to flip it though and see that there are new things i can try to strengthen our relationship. though i won't be getting into mtg . and who your kids are now ....they may not be that in the future. Music comes naturally to me (not nearly to your level) as do languages. DS inherited DH’s aptitude for both, which is basically nonexistent He did however get my propensity to have my nose in a book at all times

Every size of community has plusses and minuses. We lived in Corpus Christi, Texas up until 1981, population 249K which seemed like a pretty big place to me at the time. Then we moved to Victoria, Texas, population 45K. That seemed really small in comparison to Corpus Christi. I could go from my desk to my horse's stall in under 30 minutes. But there was nothing to do there but cowboy, rampant racism, and a very high crime rate because it's on the drug route from Mexico north and small-town law enforcement can be understaffed, ill equipped and corrupt. Then we moved to Houston in 1991, population then about 1.7 MIL. We truly fell in love with the sheer craziness of this place, home to everybody from across the globe with all that means both good and bad. I honestly can't explain it but there is a spirit here, a flavor, that is both maddening and exhilarating. The global feel, the fact that we are minority majority, that our city and county is a very blue island in a red state, is very, very important to us. We deliberately chose to live in a community that many shunned as dangerous at the time. We will have lived in this house 30 years next summer. We've never been burglarized, we come and go from pre-dawn to late night (in my working years I sometimes got home at midnight), we haven't activated the burglar alarm in years. I got the surveillance cameras because of threats from neighbors unhappy with my community association work. And absolutely no place on the planet will hone your driving skills like Houston .

Just knowing me I could never live anywhere besides a big city. I'm an expensive hoe and I need things. Not having things within walking distance is not it for me. 15 minutes is a long drive. My cousin wants me to come over more and hang out. He lives 30 minutes away! That's so far!

I was excused a few years ago because I had the care of a child under 13, same state. I can’t quite recall what level it was though-higher than county, bc it was over toward Baltimore.

For those with house cleaners - how much are you paying with approximate square footage? I haven't had anyone since before covid. Trying to get an idea of cost before I start looking for quotes. I pay $150, for maybe 2000-2500 square feet? I don’t let her in the bedrooms bc she also organizes and I like my own level of disorganization in non-public spaces
