DH and I rented a condo at a beach for my birthday week. The kids in the unit above us ran back and forth all day long. It sounded like they were coming through the floor. I was praying they weren't going thud on the floor when I had to unmute and speak during meetings. This went on until midnight or later. It was hard to sleep.
They also ran up and down the deck outside despite signs saying no running, no skateboards and no loud music.
I generally assume the parents are trying but no way in this case. It was all day and all night long. Fortunately they checked out a few days before we left.
A small condo on the third floor was no place for high energy children. That's on the parents for their choice.

I don't remember throwing myself into walls as hard as I can to make my mom upset. Maybe I'm weird that way? Yes, it's good its daytime but it's still annoying and scares my critters. When I originally rented, my building was supposed to have no children. A few years ago, they decided to make an exception for her. Probably because she was a young single mom with a very young child after a divorce. Not a comment on you but ithis triggered a question for the group at large: s it even legal to discriminate in renting against against families with children? I don't believe you can do that in CA, but I may be wrong. Not anymore. When I first rented in 1985-86ish, I moved into an adult only complex. By about 1990, apartment complexes could not discriminate against those with children. Since most of my complex was residents/PhD students from the medical center, what WAS legal was to limit the number of people/bedroom. No more than 2 people could live in a 1 BR place, no more than 3 in a 2 BR. A 2 BR place was the largest they had. ETA: Since the complex I lived in rented mostly to the medical center and students, while it had a pool, the pool was not child friendly, and there was no lifeguard on duty. If you had a child, you had to be at the pool too. There were no places to play, no playgrounds or any places they could go to ride a bike, or skate. There were still a few children there, but they generally didn’t stick around long.

Seems like way back when you could. I think you could designate an apartment complex as no children as long as you kept it that way. I could be wrong though.
I got the rest of my landscaping along the front of the house weeded and the mulch out. I'm short 2 bags around the corner, it could be let go, but would like to have it. I trimmed one of my euonymous it was getting a bit leggy, I also did a shrub at the end that was growing into one of my spruce trees. That same tree has just the top stem dead, I think that will ruin the tree but don't know. The rest of it is perfectly healthy. I didn't get anything done to my garden and boy does it need it. I also need to pick veggies. I also did weed eating around the house proper, around the landscaping, been going to do that for over a month. But of course, I overdid it on my right ankle and it is hurting tonight, so took one of the old hydrocodone and I will survive.
I hope to take little guy to the pool tomorrow. He is leaving Wed morning so trying to get in some fun for him before he goes. I am going to miss him sooooo much. Just love him to pieces.
After they go, need to pick stuff from the garden, I wanted to make relish and I hope I haven't let the veggies go to long, but looks like Thursday before I can get to it. I also want to freeze some corn and the first off is always the best. But I'm only putting up 6 dozen this year, I have a bit left from last year, trying not to put up more than we use of items this year. I also need to clean the freezer out. So much to do.

No More Drama, I can sympathize with you. I have spent my life caregiving and I'm tired. Most of my life was beyond stress, no help, no nothing. I think I had several nervous breakdowns. Try to relax if you can, I never could and it has taken it's toll on me. It, sadly, to say will be some better with MIL gone. I do not feel guilty saying that, we did everything humanly possible, financially and physically we could, but I'm glad it's over. Not just for us but for her too.
I know you are in a very difficult position, but take a few minutes anytime you can for yourself, something I was not able to do. And I hope your mom improves. My mom had ICU psychosis also, she thought she had all kinds of things to eat on her bed and got frustrated that I could not see them. They said it was from having the lights on all the time and so much activity. Maybe that will stop soon.
And I still have one to care for, I hope I won't have hubs to care for too, I'm so burned out.
Take care of yourself, go get a massage, it will do wonders for you. And I'm glad your DD is trying to help, that means a lot.
And hubs can be a pain, mine still says even now, I don't understand why you would be stressed, sigh.

Ugh. DH ran over a knife blade today and it flattened one of the F-250 tires. Unfortunately, we had to get four new tires which cost $1053. I bought the current set in September 2019.

Yeah, yeah, that! How are you doing now? Better? Worse? Same? How are things going with your girls? About the same. Fortunately, I haven’t vomited again. I’ve been drinking some Gatorade but need to eat a little. Getting to warm up some chicken noodle soup. DD1 has vomited twice already. I gave her a Covid test but it was negative. She has some of the same symptoms as me though… DD2 chilled with DH earlier today. She’s napping now but need to get her up soon, and she just woke up. She’ll be hungry most likely. DH appears ok. 🤞🤞 Dd symptoms were weird. She'd cough to the point of throwing up the first couple mornings then be fine the rest of the day. Then she got the cough/cold piece. Dh had almost all gi symptoms, but ds and I have the cough/sore throat/fever/flu symptoms. Dd has some cough left, but by day 5 felt back to normal. She keeps running on the treadmill since she can't go play with friends. The rest of us feel significantly better today compared to the last 2 so at least it looks like it will be fairly short lived. I hope yours is too.

I am collapsed on the couch after a long day. Took Carrot up to my Dad's to spend a week with the grands, but they literally JUST moved out of their house of 42 years into a new place yesterday and the place was a disaster of boxes needing to be unpacked. The move came on so fast that they didn't have time to sell/donate nearly as much as they wanted to beforehand. I was under the impression they were downsizing to a townhouse. The only thing downsized about this place is the yard (there is none) and the garage. The house is 1000 square feet bigger than their old one. I was thinking Carrot would be on a futon in a double duty office or something, but nope. He has his own guest suite with private bath. I'm like "WTF? This place is huge!"

Really annoyed. I wa dogsitting this weekend and told them I was going to be out of town today so they told me to just put him back in their house and they'd be back early afternoon. I put him in their house at 10am and knowing they were usually late, had another neighbor let him out a couple times this afternoon. Now it's 11pm and they're STILL not home and they haven't texted me or answered any of my texts either. The food they gave me ran out and I don't know where they store it so he didn't get dinner tonight...although by the looks of it he broke into his treat container today and ate them all, so he's probably not starving. I thought I should just bring him back to my house, but I have a class tomorrow and have to get to work earlier than normal, so I don't know what to do besides check early morning if their vehicles is there and at least let him out again.

This happened a few blocks from my apartment...
"A Walmart in Salt Lake City was briefly evacuated Friday after police say a person made a threatening phone call."
Nothing was found.
I'd be freaked out if I'd been in the store and heard an announcement to evacuate! Especially if there was a heavy police presence. Yikes!

Good morning, sagacious sylphs of Y Ma'am leaving words writ in ether ink. Happy Monday. i hope this day treats you with every bit of respect you deserve.
We made it here with only slowdowns in Delaware and even more, Maryland, naturally. That happens a lot. The e-check in worked well and the digital key was proferred, but as you described, it didn't work for the places other than the room door. In this case, it was the elevator that needed a key. So, to the lobby we went to collect actual keys. I'm old. I remember when keys were not rectangular bits of plastic. They came with instructions to throw them into a mailbox if found, postage guaranteed.
Today will be complicated. We need to go first to nothern Virginia to secure the cargo van and leave it at B's. Then, we come back to Maryland for lunch with DD and DH's appointment. After that, back to noVa to pack up the van/truck and spend some time with B before we check into the hotel there. We will return the rental car on Tuesday on our way back to Massachusetts.
And the beat goes on. Happy birthday, George J.

So, to the lobby we went to collect actual keys. I'm old. I remember when keys were not rectangular bits of plastic. They came with instructions to throw them into a mailbox if found, postage guaranteed. That's surprising- if I can get the app on the phone to work it's worked everywhere in the places I've stayed. The exception was one hotel where there were a very large group of kids there for an athletic event and the desk attendant had to unlock the pool door. I think they wanted to prevent too many people partying in the pool. And I agree with the earlier poster who said it's annoying that you MUST have the Hilton app to get a shared electronic key. BF doesn't have it on his phone and there's no reason he should- he's not a HHonors member and doesn't stay at them on his own dime. We get him a plastic key. I'm OK with the elimination of traditional metal keys unless they can be re-coded. Otherwise someone who walked away with a key clearly labeled "Des Moines Hilton Room 341" now has access to the room unless they change the locks.

I had no trouble in SC using my phone to unlock the side door to the hotel. It would be nice if they disclosed if you need a key for the elevator, etc.
I have generally not used my phone because I worry about what if it's dead, how to get DH a key, etc.
I have not tried key sharing with Marriott. We typically stay there so I'll have to try soon.

I had a conversation with DH last night where I flat out told him I cannot be responsible for your emotions right now. I said I kept mine quiet when your mom was dying because you didn't need to carry my burden. He said I shouldn't have had to and I said yes I did. There are times in life when your needs need to take a back seat so you can be the rock your spouse needs. I need him to be my rock I cannot be his rock. I'm sorry he hates working out at the business but that's the place he's useful right now till mom is in a spot where my dad can leave and we don't have to worry about her ripping out tubes in a panic. I said you need to find somewhere else to vent. I feel like I shouldn't have to at this point but I walked him through the fact I am ADD. I'm a control freak and stickler for routine because it takes a tremendous amount of energy to keep my brain in check and all the balls I juggle in the air. However when stuff like this happens I can no longer do it. I told him I honestly need another me, someone who isn't trapped in a spiral and can come behind me picking up what I drop. Unfortunately that's not you. So I have to keep on keeping on. Pretty sure I hurt him but I think I needed to to finally hammer home how bad of a spot I am in right now. We'll see if it makes any changes in how he acts towards me.

I was getting worried they got in a bad car wreck or were in jail (not totally out of the question with these two).

I've been at work since 6am. I have class from 10-5 M-Th this week and needed to get my crap done before it starts. I worked ahead a little in the class last week so I should be able to zone out for the first few modules. Not sure why we have to do an in-person class when it was obviously designed to be a 100% asynchronous online class.

DH and I are heading home today. Apparently it’s not a minute too soon, as we are both touchy and pissy with each other this AM. I don’t know what I said that pissed him off (bc he won’t actually tell me) but he’s now in a snit. And when I tried to apologize he just gets even more pissy. So, this’ll be a fun car ride home

So I have to keep on keeping on. Many gentle hugs coming your way, Drama. I am glad to hear that your mom seems to be doing better and that your dad is able to get some rest from time to time. That you and your brother have figured out ways to make things that need to happen with the business, actually happen. And that Gwen has found a way to be helpful to keep the things rolling at home. Sorry to hear that your DH is having hard time figuring out how to best support you through these very difficult times. Hang in there!

The issue of children and young adults in 55+ homes is one that I've explored with the various communities we've looked at. The two apartment complexes we looked at restrict under 55 visitors to 2-week stays in a 12-month span. Adult children and grandchildren can visit for a reasonable period, but they can't move in permanently. While visiting under-55's are only allowed in the gym, pool and other facilities during certain hours of the day.
The one Del Webb community we looked at was sort of vague about the issue, along with a number of other things. They don't have a written policy on visits or long-term residency by younger people. At their price point, $300,000+, I want written assurances about who my neighbors will be.

Hugs Drama. First day of new job, 8 hours of webex orientation scheduled that I can’t miss and ofc DS wakes up full of snot and with his mildly goopy eye now glued shut. DH has him at the pediatrician, but we don’t have the new insurance info yet (supposed to be retroactive to today at least). DH is on a business trip Wed and Thurs too...suppose I should be glad it’s not today At least we’re all negative for covid so far I need to stay negative until I pick up new computer equipment tomorrow at the very least.

My throat and cough are worlds better today but I feel physically exhausted and out of breath. It really feels like asthma where there is just a weight on my chest this morning.
I'll still work on getting the dog walked, then rest. I don't have any real work to do at current job. I'll probably talk to boss about letting me go now instead of at my 15 year anniversary next week.
