To follow up on my post yesterday about the garage, I am pleased to say that it is a LOT less cluttered. There are still a couple of, problem areas that need to be decluttered, including “my” side of the garage, but overall, it is a lot better.
He threw enough stuff away that one garbage bin is full, and the other is almost half full, so it is questionable whether or not just household garbage between now and pick up day, will fit. I had planned to cut up the cardboard from the home gym equipment tomorrow, but now there is no room for it in the garbage bins outside. The pieces are at least 6’ long, that’s why it’s not been as simple as just putting it in the garbage, it won’t fit.
And yes, we do have a recycle bin the same size as the garbage bins, but the lid on it broke in half about 2 years ago, and it was an ordeal to get the bin replaced, so we just stopped using it because half of the lid missing meant that it got full of water from rain. I will take responsibility for not taking over and being persistent when Mister got nowhere with trying to get it replaced. We both got frustrated with calling all the time, just to try to get our garbage picked up (which was a problem in our whole neighborhood) so when nothing was happening with our complaints about garbage pickups or the recycle bin, we just let the recycle bin go and focused on the issues with the garbage being picked up on schedule or at least within a reasonable amount of time. But I accept that it was still also our responsibility to keep trying to get the recycling bin replaced, so you all don’t have to flame me for something I already know.
Anyway, there’s nowhere to put all the cardboard right now, even if I cut it up. I had to do a factory reset on the Roomba, and there is no point in letting it map the house again if there is a bunch of crap on the floor in the rooms I want it to vacuum regularly.
Anyway again, even though there are still 2 areas in the garage that need decluttering, I am pleased with the work Mister did yesterday to get clean it up and get a lot of crap off the floor.

Cashing in my Chase points.
$1,052.50 into my checking account.
That's $10 less than last year. It's one of my holiday season savings plans. I can start buying Christmas presents now. I'm currently living off my Chase points. I think I got over $3000 this year. I hate using them though because they're worth so much more for travel and hotels than they are for cash. But, gotta do what you gotta do.

Care to share how that works? Do you have rewards categories that are higher than others. There are bonus categories/purchases each quarter. Sometimes it's just "gas" or "grocery stores". Other times it's specific to a vendor like Wal-Mart or Amazon. However, that's limited to a bonus of $75 per quarter. The normal cash back points are 1% of each purchase.
So, I've run $98,210.29 through that card in the last 12 months. LOL. That's what we made last year. Well, a tad less. We did get over the 6 figure income mark last year. Gross. We won't even make that this year, due to the paycut that I took.

Would anyone like an overtired 6 year old?
She's in the super cute growing teeth in stage. So she looks like the wife from Up when she was a little girl.
Of course, I'm asking for a friend.

I've had many a year that I needed the cash back to make ends meet. I run as much as I possibly can through the Chase card. Of course, if the vendor is going to charge me more than the % I'd get back to pay with my card, then I pay cash.

Feeling fairly accomplished.
The kids are clean. I even bathed the missy. I pulled out zucchini bread from the freezer for breakfasts this week.
My breakfasts for work days are made for the next 3 weeks.
My lunch is ready to go for tomorrow. I'm mostly packed up.
I even have some time to work on my english paper piecing.

My DH has been a smoker since he was 18 years old. He has half-heartedly tried to quit a few times over the years. But it has definitely impacted his lung health. He is 65 now.
Three weeks ago he started coughing. Like nasty, bringing up a lung coughing. I offer to take him to urgent care. Oh no I'm not sick, I don't have a fever.
Well the coughing is somewhat better, but he became short of breath. I have seen him multiple times breathing through his mouth trying to catch his breath. So every day for at least the past week I'm offering to take him to the doctor!
Finally, today - my 65th birthday - he says okay let's go. We end up at the ER and he needs some minor surgery because he has a partially collapsed lung! Holy cow!
So he is in the hospital for a couple of days. I am home now and I'm exhausted.
Geez.

This year for the first time in many years* I am coming close to spending half that much and that includes new flooring in most of my house. The latter did not make it onto my CC since I would have been charged more for that than I would get back * I make at least one international/intercontinental trip every year. Since Covid is behind us I once again make two every other year
