Well, we took a walkabout in the neighborhood. All restaurants closed, but did find a small grocery store open. Bought a baguette (still warm), cheese, ham, butter, crackers, juice and grapes. €28 for that….ouch!
Little store did have about 20 different brands of butter. I wanted to try them all!
Need to remember to take a shopping bag next time. I went to a pharmacy yesterday when we were in Cadillac and bought a bunch of French skin care stuff and was given a shopping bag that would have cost $8 in the US.

I hate having to figure out what to cook ever. Single. Day! I ask TD what he wants for dinner and his response is ‘whatever you make is fine’. That doesn’t help me AT ALL! I’m looking for ideas.

The older we get the less food is an issue. DH eats very little, anyway, since he started on Ozempic. Often we both eat just one real meal a day with some snacks. And the real meal could be soup or salad or leftovers. When we eat out we typically split an entree. I cook perhaps 3x/week a "real" meal with protein, starch and vegetables. We are finding ourselves eating twice a day with some snacks (fruit, cheese, nuts, etc).

It's been a long few days of conflict--starting with Bill the Dog getting lost under the house. (He's still completely fine. at him for worrying us!) Thursday consisted of BTD's disappearance, --me working with HR to decide if we were terminated an employee of mine who--for the past four years--has been a toxic employee that no one would deal with until the new HR manager a year ago. --I had a therapy appointment --Me asking the parents of a private school adjacent to the property where one of my sites is to not park in our parking lot; this has already been told to them by their principal. Of the dozen I spoke to, one full on yelled at me for five minutes and told me I had "pissed off 3,000 church-goers".
Friday --having a interview scheduled for a vacant position in my department and the applicant did not show up for it --firing the employee --spending an hour on the phone with an angry/unstable client who--unknowingly to me--started recording our conversation 20 to 30 minutes into the phone call. Then she accidentally/out of defiance told me she was recording our conversation. --one of DH's school board members is full on in-person and in-writing threatening DH for following school district policies and state law and not doing what the board members wants. --then having to go to a high school football game at which --among at least 3,000 other people--that board member was also attending. I was adamant that I did not have the energy to be mature in any conversation with said board member and that we had to avoid crossing paths with him at all costs.
On Saturday, there was no conflict but I did have to work at a community event. I got home at 4:30pm, and I spent the remainder of Saturday on the couch. I'm starting this morning slowly, but I do think I have a migraine starting. I hate to "waste" today, but I may be quiet and attempt to re-set myself for the upcoming week. Hugs. ♡ Take care of you.

DH managed to save the night last night. Right now I am working - poking around the PA data before I travel tomorrow. What a mess. Need to pack. Also forgot that I had a mammogram scheduled for tomorrow. It is at 930, so I am going to keep it. It is right around the corner from the car rental place and they are pretty punctual, so I expect to be on the road by 10AM. Plugged the facility address into Google Maps. People told me it was 4 hours away - nope, 1.5. But knowing the road I will travel I could see it being 4 during rush hours, so leaving around 10 works out better anyway. Not telling anyone that it is that close. ETA - It was totally a me thing last night. Obviously DH can not predict when someone will stop by and I in no way expect him to be rude. But I am firmly a type A personality. I plan and get irritated when things outside of my control, which in my head nothing is outside of my control, upset the plan. Plus, being remote for 2 years now and with work travel amping up I am feeling fiercely that my home is my haven and I do not like that being interrupted. I can not figure out how to re-train my brain, but I do need to learn to temper my reactions. I feel this, hard. and LD is totally territorial over this house and me as his Momma while we're home, so he definitely feels it, too.

I’m currently in the ER with my mom. She been not feeling well for a few months, and it takes forever to get in with her docs, then even longer to get in for tests (mri, ct, endoscopy, etc). She called me yesterday kinda panicked about things, so I made the trip to her to sit in the ER with her today. I hope they can figure out SOMETHING today. She’s lost so much weight over the past couple months. I’m worried.

I'm not sure what's going on with me lately, but my system is quite upset today. so we are home, close to the facilities. I'm currently parked on the deck with all of the electronics. I started re-watching Desperate Housewives from the beginning the other night. I didn't start watching til after Season 1 originally, and dayum. there's so much packed into this first season that I was completely unaware of!

Dear Lord, it sounds like the community you live in is simply awful! Are they angry Trumpers, or just plain rich entitled people? We're seeing more instances of homeless & mental illness problems here. Not that everyone who is homeless suffers from mental illness, but even being out in daylight I feel like I'm always looking over my shoulder. I just missed an incident at our local mall, when I'd walked into a small store right after an apparently homeless person walked by & put his fist through a sign just outside the door. Security arrived to talk to the cashier just as I'd walked up to make a purchase. Thankful I missed that!

We had a good talk this morning about the cooking situation. I asked him point-blank why he wasn't, and he said he draws a blank when trying to think of something he hasn't done a million times. Welcome to the club, dude! Anyway, I made a chart on Excel with proteins in column 1, starches in column 2 and veggies in column 3. Told him to pick a protein from 1 and grab a side from either column 2 or 3. Also resurrected a cookbook he bought for himself years ago as well as a guide to spice pairings he bought. I suggested he start a cook's journal of sorts where, if he likes something I serve, he notes the recipe or combination to use himself later. Hopefully this will help him and I'll be a lot less resentful. I told him if he cooks something that adds to the freezer stash, I would be happy to swap my leftovers with him. Stick to your guns Soup! He's smart right? He can figure out a meal! I've been married 41 years and raised three sons. I honestly hate cooking these days. I'm happy with just a sandwich or crackers and cheese.

I'm happy with just a sandwich or crackers and cheese. I don’t hate cooking, I just don’t want to do it 7 days a week. It is also more enjoyable when you cook to share, so since DH doesn’t like nearly everything I make or want to try new, I love having my neighbor over a couple times a month. So far she loves everything I have made.

The truly jerky board member attends an evangelical church that also owns the new private school next to own of my job sites. They're a hateful group.

Cashing in my Chase points.
$1,052.50 into my checking account.
That's $10 less than last year. It's one of my holiday season savings plans. I can start buying Christmas presents now.

I REALLY wanted a mani/pedi tomorrow but the salon either closed, lost phone service, or lost power so I'll try calling again tomorrow for an appointment Wednesday. I so hope they are still open because it's very hard to find a good salon within a reasonable distance. If they have closed, I'll probably just go back to natural nails and spend a lot more on products. I can't see or reach to paint my toes, but I can do basic trims, cuticles, etc. The upper lip and brows will definitely be a problem to keep under control
