The hotel we're staying at tonight is a Hilton Doubletree. They offer e-check in and a digital key you upload to your smart phone. I'm going to try and get one as soon as they open up the function. You also pick your room before you get the key. And, you can share the key up to 3 times with other people. I hope it works. I always select my room as soon as I can. Usually it works fine at least half the time without going to the desk. Probably higher than that in my experience. You get a notification on your phone when the key is ready. Last trip home from Toronto, at one hotel, I needed a key card to work the electricity. The electronic key let me in but nobody bothered to tell me that. Back to the desk I went. At the other hotel on that trip, I needed a card to get to my floor on the elevator. It would be nice if they told you that when you checked in. So from the elevator I couldn't make work, it was back to the desk for that card. The hotel where I needed the key card for the elevator had "upgraded" me. I lost the upgrade because when I arrived at 6:30 PM, my room was not yet clean. They asked if I wanted to wait. No I did not want to wait for that room. I had been driving since about 8:30 AM. I wanted a shower and to relax, not sit in the lobby waiting for a room. They suggested getting a drink. I don't drink.

I had another great experience with a short road trip with my DIL and two GrDs. The first time they suggested car pooling with me. They love the ride of our Nissan. The cost of gas in the yikes range. The body cost of eating too much sugar that I normally don't eat is not so good.
My DD and her BF both wore sundresses and makeup which was probably a mental hardship since they are camper types in shorts/tanks as did my DIL and one GrD.
I had two wonderful conversations with one GrD and one GrGrD. I even got a TY response for a 6 weeks early birthday card that I gave GrGrD. I put cash in the cards, personally deliver now since the checks don't get cashed. An flash of insight that the GrGrks Azhat parents (broken family not my GrD; her loser sperm donor) probably tell them the checks are no good and their accounts will be charged a return fee.
The great other thing was we got a free car wash because of what the clerk perceived as us having trouble fueling the car. I asked if the car wash was working. Then I get back to the pump and it's prepay inside, which we had to do to get the car wash number. I told my GrD it's because she paid.
Next road trip we are taking my Honda. It seats only 2. Gas cost half. Now to get over my sprained left hand so I can get my gym workout done. I'll take my car to worship service since the weather looks rainy, and I have a middy skirt on. Barely 71F.

We are slowly getting around to being ready to head out for a day of fun. We’re not doing much on this mini vacation, but it is so nice not to be at my house for a change. We’re heading to a casino in a bit, then have plans for a late lunch. We’re mostly playing things by ear

I'm taking a minute to sit with breakfast - a loaded everything bagel with cc, sliced tomato, red onion, prosciutto...and baby spinach and capers. it is phenomenal.
I've already been to the grocery store and back, for $95. 🙄 BSCB is in the IP,the first of two packages I'll cook today. I also need to clean this house. the newspaper might not get read today.

Feeling like shit! I’ve thrown up or dry heaved about 5-6 times in the last 5 hours... I really want sleep and to stay asleep for a few hours. I did actually stay asleep for a bit after that post. I’ve also taken a COVID test and it’s positive… 😔 I now have a low grade fever (in the 99s and body aches). Sorry. Hope you get as mild a case as possible.

I decluttered my lipstick collection since I purchased some things from the national lipstick day sale. I threw out around 10 that were really old. I have maybe another 30 more in a bin that the girls can pick through and see what they want. I can now close the bins that I keep them in. It was really full!

I got paid yesterday so I paid all the bills today. Money was nice while I had it. I am now getting ready to have the breakfast of champions, ramen noodles and a la Croix. Don't be jealous. Later I'm taking my nephew who moved out about a month ago grocery shopping and will make dinner for him and his roommates.

With Hilton I found the people you share a card with had to have the app and a Hilton account. DH had neither so that didn't work. The electronic key did work for me.

There is something wrong with one of my hips. It keeps "catching" when I walk fairly quickly. It kind of acts like it's going to pop. It hurts a little. I may need to make an appointment to have it looked at.

I'm tired. I should have pulled in the cases of water earlier when it was low 70s. Instead, I did it during the 79-to-80-degree transition. Finished my first load of laundry and the walking back and forth felt warmer than 86/87. Time to wash a few dishes and make lunch. I am not going to enjoy next week. Only Monday's high temp is below 90.

Fed the kids and me. My good old steel cut oats. They are ok but would rather not eat them, but they help so will.
I'm dressed, told little guy to get dressed, we are going out and work on mulch. Doubt I can keep him out long but whatever I can get him to do will at least keep him outside. It's only 80 so not bad really.
I think tonight I will fix cheeseburgers, fried potatoes, and baked beans for dinner.
And will add seasoned greens to that they are really good.
And I'm going to start the blower and put little guy on it to blow off the driveway, he needs to be exposed and learn to do all kinds of little things.
Maybe go fishing later at the neighbors.

Last night’s dinner was a crash and burn. Got in on time, got seated but it took awhile before someone came over to take our drink order. Had a very good bottle of wine, placed the order and TD’s RLS kicked into high despite him having taken the prescribed meds (which usually works). We ordered the Cesear’s salad for 2, about halfway through it, I bit into a lettuce leaf and my tooth broke in half. Half came out, half is still in there. It was one in the back. Must have been a crack in it. So now between TD’s leg and my increasingly achey tooth, things aren’t quite so nice. I downed a mega dose of ibuprofen, which kicked in pretty fast. Our meals came, we ate and left. No desserts or coffee (and their coffee service is to die for). TD went out to walk his legs, I paid and got our leftovers boxed and we left.
The cap on this? Today is my last day of dental insurance. Grrrrrrr.

DD13 became DD14 today. She's at the beach this week with friends. In a few days, DD9 becomes DD10. She'll be at camp with friends. My babies are growing up. DH and I will have the house to ourselves for 6 days. Happy Birthday to you daughter!
That's going to be a quiet six days.

We're in that situation because we changed jobs--today's our last day of health, dental, and medical. DH's new policy starts tomorrow, but mine doesn't start until September 1.

I'm having a bunch of back pain. I know what causes it, and it's basically my own fault. So, Dh and DS#1 went golfing, but I've stayed home.

I lost TD’s insurance when he took this new job. Just for him, it’s costing him over $700/mo so we decided that the $1300 it would cost for me is ridiculous. Between Medicare and the drug plan, and the (fingers crossed) disability Medigap plan I applied for, I should be covered….except dental. The sad thing is, for 35 years I worked in dental schools and had access to essentially free dental care…..that I very rarely used, other than for preventative stuff. Now I need it!

If the tooth is hurting drugstores have a little kit where you can put filling in it till you can get into your dentist. They gave them to the guys that worked overseas in case something happened and it would hold them till they got home.
I dreamed last night, hubs went back to work. Seems like it was overseas and I was saying at your age, they hired you? That's about all I remember, though there was more stuff.
Just topped off my breakfast with a small cup of sugar free jello. I have learned if I want something to eat, get things like that, that are low calorie. Sometimes before bed I will eat a boiled egg or cottage cheese, that holds me for a long time. I will just have to stick with my eating habits I've acquired. I did for years then slowly drifted back to huge, fattening quantities. I do fix me a small ground beef patty, but this stuff has hardly any fat, no cheese, no bread, just a bit of worcestershire sauce or a couple of pickles on it. Will also have the greens, a serving of fried potatoes, and a big spoon of baked beans.

The “help” is DH. He’s doing the hands on instead of me as he’s okay, for right now. We think he’s gotten it twice. The first time was while I was pregnant with DD2 and definitely sicker than the 2nd time a few months ago. His symptoms were a lot like a friend of his that tested positive a little later on. Neither myself and DDs got it then so we’ll see. Knock on wood-DH is still fine this time around.

The Digital Key works maybe 30% of the time without going to the front desk when you arrive. It always seems there's something they need to do in the computer to activate it so you end up waiting in line anyway. It works after that, though. I was in a hotel last week that didn't have electronic keys and it was weird having to remember the plastic one. The birds are back at the feeders. I'd been gone for 4 days and they were all picked clean. I feel so bad that this will happen next month when I'll be gone over 3 weeks. The feeders are hanging for a roof 2 stories up and are accessible only from the windows of the enclosed porch so I can't even ask a neighbor to stock them unless they have a key. Can't you put the feeders elsewhere, so a neighbour can fill them?

Made an almond flour cake with sugar and monk fruit for the sweetener. Here's hoping it doesn't upset DH's pancreas. It's DS's birthday cake.

It aches a little, but ibuprofen takes care of that. I’ll just call my dentist tomorrow morning, they’re pretty good about getting us in in an emergency. The good part of this is this happened now and didn’t happen on the cruise. Gotta find that silver lining!

Ran this morning, then did egg, cheese and turkey bacon sandwiches for breakfast. We headed out to Costco, rather than waiting for next weekend. School starts here on August 9, so next weekend would be crazy there. Plus the store is under construction to be enlarged. Watching the last stage of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift on replay. I bought Costco's frozen cauliflower-base pizza for dinner -- it is topped with vegetables and some meat. I may add some sauteed mushrooms as well. While the mushrooms simmer, I will mow the backyard.

Can't you put the feeders elsewhere, so a neighbour can fill them? If I put them anywhere else the squirrels will empty them! I'm already spending about $50/month on bird seed. The squirrels can fend for themselves. I've got a mile-long To Do list before I leave on my trip on 8/8 and this morning my car started whining that it needed an oil change. Did not need that but I have a local mechanic I trust and will make an appointment.

OMFG. Now the damn pump isn't coming out till Tuesday. It may be past when we go to Colorado before she comes home.
I had a massive breakdown this morning. DH said we'd go to the Farmers Market and I was all excited. Then we didn't go because he slept so long he had to go to his NA meeting.
And I was needed back at the hospital where I currently am now.
So I had a tantrum. I'm getting real sick of DH lecturing ME about controlling myself.
I finally snapped at him too and said you didn't have to do anything for your mom because you had two siblings and an army of family that gave you an out.
It's just the four of us.
And FUCK OFF about working at the restaurant! I don't have the mental space to listen to you vent.
I had to taste test my mom's ice chips to prove they weren't poisoned to get her to hydrate. You have any idea what a mind fuck that is?!
Excuse ME that I feel less than sorry for you!
I also work and still take care of the house.
Gwen is really stepping up though I feel she shouldn't have to. I appreciate it none the less.
Dad said she's better today she at least doesn't think we're trying to kill her.
Hopefully the pump comes out she can sit up, eat and get more oriented. Dad said she should start moving to where we can leave her alone at night
I said I can't do tomorrow. I have to focus on work.
I Don't want to be here anymore. Now I'm wondering if we did the right thing.
I spent last night getting called by my full name, accused of conspiring with the hospital and was met with demands to get my brother instead.
I cannot communicate how badly it's shaken me even though I know it's not personal.
I really need help and I have no idea where to turn.

Good morning, invisible intelligentsia of Y Ma'am, sharing your triumphs, woes and snacks of the moment in my laptop. I hope you enjoy a rejuvenating Sunday. I'm going to be leaving as soon as we can after renting a car at this end. A rental, so we can leave it in Virginia when we return in the cargo van (I hope!) or 12-foot truck (I'm afraid it will be) on Tuesday. Hope to get to Maryland early enough for dinner with DD. Safe travels!
