Riding out Helene in a hotel along with several people from my building. Still have power but that’s probably not going to last forever. Hopefully able to go home tomorrow as I’ve been watching my neighbors cat while she’s in the hospital! I left a clean box, plenty of water and food but of course I feel nervous. I know cats are independent but he’s my responsibility. I’d be safer in my building as I’m on the 7th floor and my car is on the 2nd floor but I’m in zone A so evacuation is mandatory. Please report back when you can to let us know you are safe

Mister is in a mood. I think at least part of it is that his Dad’s birthday is tomorrow. A few days ago, he said he was going to invite his brother to go out to dinner today, for their Dad’s birthday. I guess his brother didn’t want to go since he never left the house after he called his brother again when he got home from work.
I remembered that earlier this month was the day his Dad passed last year, but I’d forgotten that his birthday was also this month. I didn’t remember that until Mister said he was going to ask his brother to go out to dinner. So I guess this month has been more difficult for him than I realized, since I’d forgotten that his Dad was born this month, the same month that he died. Even though he had his game face on until today, and acted like he was okay.
So I will give him a pass for being weird tonight, and just let him do his thing. I asked what he wanted for dinner after I realized he wasn’t going with his brother, he said he was good he didn’t want dinner. I didn’t press, I just said okay.
I think his new car is kind of bittersweet for him, because he has said so many times that he wishes his Dad could see it and enjoy it with him. When we went to the big car show not too long ago, he said a few times that he knew his Dad would’ve really enjoyed seeing those old muscle cars. I said I didn’t know his Dad was a car guy. He said yeah, he was, he’d just never owned one of the muscle cars that he always talked about to the point that he knew the details and specs about them.

I did my first fitness class tonight at the Y.
I took a dance fitness class.
My legs feel like noodles.
I made it the entire hour. I'm not quite as out of shape as I thought I was.
But I have a ways to go. I also need to get actual work out pants the leggings I have DO NOT breathe and get actual sneakers with cushion.

I think I'm in the throws of a mid-life crisis.
I never want new cars.
I want a new car. With Sirius and a sun roof.**
And, that is just like the end of it.
I don't think I can blame this on the tamoxifen.
**I may have drawn attention to myself blasting baby got back when it came on. But the bass was so good.

Finally finished kitchen remodel. Took 4 months ad hit topocketbook but so worth it. Only about one week of kitchen being unusable.
DH spent two hours trying to remove a sticker from stainless steel vent hood. The purpose of the sticker was to tell us to take the sticker off the control panel.

Quick grocery run this morning and community meeting tonight with 40+ politicians making a pitch for our love and votes. Up at 5:30 for long bus ride to College Station to tour the American GI museum followed by lunch at a Cajun place. Nothing too exciting for the weekend, just cleaning, cooking and laundry. I can't believe Tuesday is October 1, September was a crazy fast month 40+ politicians? Are you going to hell? You have to remember we elect our judges in Texas and there are a LOT of courts both civil and criminal, plus sheriff and district attorney races. They each got 2-3 minutes to pitch themselves, and another 2 at the end to answer audience-submitted questions. We even had Spanish translation, voter registration, election trivia contests with prizes, and very good baklava. In addition to a large live audience, the whole thing is live-streamed on Facebook and posted on YouTube tomorrow so it's great exposure to a large electorate

Inspection was today. The house is great. There are some things that need to be fixed, but they're easy. I told the mortgage guy to move forward with the appraisal. Yay!

No More Drama, don't feel bad. I took a test eons ago. I knew it, thought this will be a breeze. It was the type that built from one assumption and everything else would be right or wrong. I guess I was too confident, just breezed through it, thought, man I aced that. Wouldn't you know I failed it. In my smugness and not reading thoroughly, I misread it and blew it. I was never so embarrassed in all my life. It just blew my mind, I sure was down for some time after that. It really messes with you when something like that happens. See, I still remember that and must have been 40 years ago. Sh** happens especially when under duress.
Called to check on DD and kitties, all are well. Except DIL says Smokey is mean, she needs to be patient. The cats were going crazy last night, meowing and following me around and Smokey pushing his nose on me and in my lap. Hubs said they likely saw that suitcase and thought she is leaving them with me again, LOL! My babies know something is going on.
That is why I like neutral colors in a house, or very light colors, so I can use all kinds of accent colors and different colored curtains in the rooms. With the colors we are using up there, we are painting ourselves into just certain color combinations now.
Oh, my I need to vac here, clean bathroom fixtures, likely mop, and I've found a lot of odds and ends in my cabinets, plus 2 skillets I was looking for in the oven I need to go through all the rooms and cabinets and check them. And the garage attached to the house needs a lot cleaned out of it. Not going to have much time to do it. And I do miss our lovely house. It's hard to come back and see the quality built into this one. Like hubs said its sure not the house this one is. Makes me sad to see it and knowing we won't get the money out of it, its worth.
I hope what we have done is worth it to all of us. DIL is happy to have family close, she misses that closeness from home. She asked what happened here? I said kids had to leave all the small towns to find decent jobs so the folks are left behind. Many if they can afford it go where the kids are. If not then the family is no longer intact.
Hubs is so tired and we just have a twin bed here so he is sleeping in the recliner, that can't be comfortable for him. I'm wondering if we could use the box springs and get him a foam mattress for this so he doesn't have to do that. It doesn't seem fair to him.
I may read a bit before bed.
I'm not happy with the plane trip, I forgot my mask, the most important thing, well other than my toothbrush I also forgot. The guy next to me was so big he had to sit with his arms crossed and he coughed and coughed, just what I need. And neither guy on either side of me said hi, not one word. They need not worry I was not going to talk to them either, but that was annoying and I was stuck in a middle seat. So I'm tired too.
This is hard, love the other place but this is home too. Wish we could afford to keep it and this one too. Hubs paid a guy to cut the grass 2 more times with our old mower so he doesn't have to worry about it. That should do it for the mowing season this year.
So going to read a bit on the John Sandford book Rules of Prey. The lady I bought these books from seemed to like a lot of odd murder mysteries.
Hope everyone is safe in the storm areas. Sounds like that is way worse than forecasters thought it would be.

My poor dear bonus teen just wanted a normal night of teen life. Doctors have all said not to limit activities, just to make sure someone with her knows protocol. Ok, sono signed off on her plsying powder puff football tonight and she was so excited. She'd gone a whole week without a seizure. Damn one happened during the football game in front of all her classmates and a grandstand full of people.
I saw her go down and Dh and I shot like rockets out of the front row of the stands. Dear man jumped the wire fence that was a few inches taller than his waist. Still pissed I didn't get that on video. I ran thru the gate 10 feet away. Teen's big bro had come to watch her play and he beat us to her. Refs cleared the kids. Fucking medical trainer was assessing her which I get is his job but I say I'm her guardian it's a psychogenic seizure we just need to wait it out. He says how do we know it's not epilepsy. Bro I just told you I'm in charge here. Then he proceeds to lean all over her and talk right by her head. I was like back off bc if you're in her space as she comes out of it she's going to absolutely deck you. He keeps up in her space. Dh puts his hand on dudes shoulder and was like back off. Thankfully principal made it to the field and was like listen to them and back off. Meanwhile some asshats are yelling from the stands turn her over. Um no, this is not ever going to be a puking seizure but thx.
Trainer says I'm calling ambulance. Principal says no, I've seen nurse protocol for her and it says no ambulance. I said no ambulance. Teen comes too and guy was still close so she went swinging. I kinda wish she'd connected. Younger female trainer steps in and we breath it out until teen can get into golf cart. She takes us back to out van while dh gathers our stuff and dd12 and her friend.
Meanwhile here comes ambulance. I help teen seat belt and offer brother a ride with us so he can see she's okay. Send Dh to refuse ambulance. EMT proceeds to knock on teens window, scare the shit out of her and starts going on about who's president and shit. I get out and say back off before you set off next seizure. I say it's psychogenic and we refuse care. They keep mansplaining me about how once they are called they have to see patient. I say she's a minor so you have to have my permission. Dh steps in and says I'll sign whatever you need just let them leave.
Get in van. Big bro is like you ain't playing, I like you. I was like hey nice to finally meet you. Let's go back to house and I'll answer your questions but she really is okay.
Praise Jesus that teen goes to her college class tomorrow and doesn't have to be on campus and she's going to hoco at gf hs so hopefully most of the gossip will blow over by Monday.

Someone care to sort thru how I should better deal with ambulance next time bc that was a mess. Guessing in stands called it as I could hear school officials on walkies and principal saying stand down we know her condition.

Silver lining is that her bro stayed for a couple hours and I privately brought him up to speed on seizures. Poor guy was sniffling as I let him ask questions. Was graceful and didn't throw nut under the bus or put him in the middle but did say it's from her abuse and trauma. Bro is trying to eek out his freshmen year of college and spent most of the last two years couch surfing with friends to avoid home.
The two of them ganged up on dh which was funny to watch. Dh told teen that if she didn't want to be on the losing football team she could have faked a sprained ankle.

Dd12 ran into classmates as I was riding on the golf cart. Not the best girls (I used to coach them) and they wanted the tea. Dd12 wasn't sure what to say so said that's my stepsister and she's been going thru a lot but will be okay.
What a night!
TGIF almost and week can't be over soon enough.

That should help both of you, in the future, I would think.

I was just glad he was there and had my back. He just came to bed ealier and mentioned that's the first time he's seen her seizure. He's only seen the after effects.

We got back to the ship at about 10 last night. My legs were toast and the dinner at the Chateau was spectacular, the chairs we were seated on were horrible. With all the walking we did yesterday (much of it in rain) my hips were crankier than shit. I dragged out the good drugs last night.
Very interesting watching the barrels being made. Then we went for a wine tasting, which was very good (even the reds, which have been causing my heartburn recently) then lunch. After lunch, another winery and these wines did not sit well at all. I’ve gotten to the point that I can tell at the first sip whether a wine will be an issue or not. Next stop, a chocolate place. I indulged there. Last stop at 6, we drove out to the chateau. Sooooo gorgeous!
We are now back in Bordeaux and it’s pouring (of course). We were supposed to go out on an oyster expedition…..another all day one…..and canceled. I need a down day desperately. I usually do when I need to drag out the good drugs.
So far, we have acquired 12 linen tea towels, 3 cashmere shawls and a bag of chocolate. I think all our extra luggage space is gone!
I need to contact the facility where we are staying after we get off the ship.

Anxiously waiting to hear from DD2 this morning. She is in the Tampa area about 6 blocks from a river that feeds into the gulf.

Good morning, involved invisipeeps with your hands full, caring for people and property and pets, celebrating Bill the Dog's being found okay, new kitchens and new homes, doing your civic duty, managing projects and people, and riding out hurricanes. Welcome to Friday. I hope your day gives you more cause to celebrate. I hope all critical details are attended to and no meaningless ones interrupt your zen. Today I need to prep some pictures DH has for tomorrow's show, taken in the same town. Plus ready everything else then load up the car. We'll need to leave tomorrow at 5 a.m. It will be a long day. I hope it's successful. DD is down with a bug. I hope she feels better today. We'll take her out to dinner if she's up for it. Yesterday was heavily overcast when the sun should have been rising. I took this in the dark 30 minutes before that when there was a break in the clouds at the horizon:

Just got word from DD2. They are okay. No flooding but also no power. My mom is in central FL, and she is okay, also no power.

And now I'm bummed. I wanted to take a sweater class. I didn't like my first experience. I like the teacher teaching this one. And I also need to learn how to do button holes, etc.
I'm not sure if I can take it due to the kids' schedules.
And DH is making me feel guilty that I don't want to drive a car with unknown mechanical issues. Something is misfiring in my engine and they can't figure it out. I've driven my car for like 6 weeks in the past 6 months, otherwise it's been in the shop.
I drove our old subaru with leaking gaskets and leaking everything for a year. That was different, because covid, and we weren't going anywhere. And the car started all the damn time and rode like it was supposed to. I was OK with this.
I'm not OK with driving a car that turns into a jack rabbit. Especially with winter approaching. We had like 15+ inches of snow in back to back storms and they didn't plow until it was way too late. There were huge compacted snow/ice ruts for a good 3 weeks on the roads. We always saw cars in the ditch. Which, I live urban, and those they only had to plow twice (after those storms) the whole winter. Because global warming.

Apparently those panic attack rescue meds hit me like a truck. To be used sparingly, for sure In related news I passed out last night without setting an alarm leading to morning fire drill, as I woke up about 20 min before DS needed to head over to the bus. Maybe 19. Today I just don’t want to do a damn thing. I guess it’s only the anxiety motivating me to like, work and stuff

All the hugs azucena . That is a terrifying high adrenaline night. Adrenaline for sure. I feel asleep sometime around 2 am. Less about the seizures since I've helped her with dozens of them now. More about having to go all mama bear on folks to try to get her needs met. TGIF TGIF

We made it through unscathed! Trees down in our neighbourhood but we still have power and internet. It does seem very random as to who kept power and who lost power. There's also been lots of flooding so we're very grateful not to be impacted.
Hope everyone else on this board has been so fortunate.
