I got an email to take the exam for the Lab Tech 1 position with the city. Did not know they do an exam. I imagine for Lab Tech 1 it isn't going to be that strenuous. It's progress though and I'll take it. I am much more interested in this job than I am in the job I interviewed for. It keeps me around downtown, it comes with city benefits/pension and it has step increases to almost $30/hr. Even if the steps aren't yearly which I am going to guess they are if I stayed in that position 5 years I'd still be ahead of being here 5 years without a promotion in sight. I have to do it on Thursday the 26th. I am thinking 8:30 am then I can drive straight down the street here. ETA: WOW the passing score is 60%. If I cannot get 60% out of 33 questions on a Lab Tech 1 exam Simpson should revoke my degree.

I gave up on pilling the damn cat. I called to get some liquid compounded for her. My thumb is friggin' killing me! Not that catching her is a barrel of laughs but I would prefer she chew the syringe, not my thumb. MPL, I hope they find your son's friend. Yellowstone is NOT someplace I want to go missing. Do you feed her? You could try putting the liquid in her food, if the taste isn't too strong. She probably wouldn't eat it. She's a fusspot when it comes to her wet food and I could see her sister eating it for her.

I was talking to my realtor today. She said she told them that I am canceling so they offered to take $3K off and replace the fusebox. So now that I'm telling you that you can keep your house, you're willing to work with me. Yeah right. They too stupid to realize that your bid was like the "McRib Sandwich", a limited time offer I needed that laugh. Fun fact. I'm the one person that likes the McRib. When it comes ba6in the fall my phone starts blowing up with McRib sitings from my family since they know I love it.

I hate dogs. I was 15 minutes late taking the twins out, so Jackson decided to empty his entire colon onto the kitchen floor. Now the whole downstairs stinks. Gross.

Do you feed her? You could try putting the liquid in her food, if the taste isn't too strong. The compounding pharmacy I used put a liver flavor in my meds and apparent it was so tasty I had to hide the stuff to keep the cat away from it. The pharmacist swore he could make meds taste like whatever the animal liked best - liver, cheese, fish Yes, my compounding pharmacy does the same.

Andi - wanted to add, I am just so excited for you. I really love the latest home and after all the others, it is the only one I can say this about. It's so light and bright and airy, totally ready to go.
It can be hard to tell in pix but it also seems to have a good "feel" to it, ie both the property and house have good "vibes." May you and the twins and your family be happy there for many years to come!

Molly, I am sorry about your health issues. Glad they have found a few solutions for you despite the roadblocks you have experienced. Finnime love the picture, glad your show was a success this weekend. MPL, hope the find your Son's classmate. How's the bunny situation? The Rabbits are still at my house. DD and her BFF were going on vacation together this week (I hope she is not heading into a hurricane). I had told her I would keep them until after her vacation/just before Thanksgiving. She used to call me nearly every day. I have been calling her just to keep in touch. She did call me on Saturday though. Andi, I sympathize with your dog issues. Two of my dogs pooped in the house last week. We had to give them doggie immodium. I had dinner with my SIL and Mom at the Senior Living Facility and DSIL said that their dog pooped on their one week old basement carpet. She said that meant that they had to tear out $1,000 worth of carpet and replace it. . I washed my laundry room throw rugs, but DH tossed the newer pad from the crate that the puppy had an accident on. Congrats on the new pending house purchase. It looks like a good home for you and the Twins.

I got a violation notice from the fine state of PA but just a warning no monetary fine for going 11 mph over in a construction zone. I am pleased.

I'm currently setting up my new Surface Go tablet that arrived today. the full keyboard should be here tomorrow, and I guess I need to order a special mouse for the thing. I mistakenly assumed I could just use a USB mouse. this thing is a bit thinner than I was expecting. in any case, I've signed up for a 1mo free trial of Microsoft 365, with a reminder in my calendar to cancel next month before they charge me $99 for a year's subscription. that should get me enough time to mess around with my resume at least. I need to tweak it a little in general with some newer skills for QA roles, and also bring back some of the older various engineering projects I'd removed as I spent more and more time in QA. I found a posting that sounds pretty perfect for my skill set - a senior QA spot that includes ownership of the qualification and validation of the startup of a new mfg facility. it would be 100% on-site, but sounds like super interesting work. I'm going to reach out to some former coworkers that are at this site now, and see what kind of intel they can dig up for me.
ETA - wait, I found something even better on Amazon for $18. it's a USB-C adapter that lets you input multiple USB-A as well as a video display (if I wanted a big monitor, for instance) so that will allow me to use my external hard drive and the mouse I already have. this is going to be easier than I thought to get used to. yay!

Ok, so this is weird. Our neighborhood hospital is a part of a large medical corporation, which owns a lot of clinics & hospitals in our area. I just found out, at DS's doctor appointment today, that they have hired Quest to handle all of their lab work. In fact, Quest will be working inside their buildings. I'm familiar with Quest, having lived "down South" for a time, but there they had their own small buildings & labs. Is this becoming a thing, for the outsourcing of lab work? Maybe it's cheaper for the hospitals than hiring their own lab techs, but the cynic in me is thinking the system (no, I'm not picking on Quest) is going to see more mistakes. What do you think? It took Quest (California) 13 days to report the results of my last lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc.). I didn't like that it's nearly impossible to call and actually speak with someone. After spending 28 minutes on hold, I finally spoke to someone (on Day 11 of the wait) who said "we're backed up and it can take 8-10 days to get results." When I pointed out it was Day 11, there was silence. Anyway, I get my labs done at Quest for insurance reasons. But their online portal and customer service (aside from chat bots) seems to be nonexistent. Hope it's better in a hospital situation.

101 forecast for today 103 forecast for Tuesday 96 forecast for Wednesday ... and I'm hoping this will be the last time we see "triple digits" in 2024.
Quiet day today .... just lugging in boxes from the front porch thanks to Walmart and Amazon. Lately, Amazon has been using mysteriously large boxes for rather small items (gummy vitamins, for example) and then a ton of brown wrapping paper or those bubble air bags as filler. Oh well, the cats definitely appreciate large empty boxes, that's for sure.
Hubby got up at 4am and left the house early for a pre-dawn flight to Palm Springs. (He's a corporate pilot who flies a small business jet.) He returns late Tuesday night, so I'm on my own for 2 days. He leaves again on Friday-Saturday-Sunday for Santa Barbara. At least he sends me cool pictures of all the places he goes, right? Hopefully there will be ocean photos from Santa Barbara.
I do need to water plants out front on the porch, as well as in the backyard around the pool. I've decided that counts as exercise, along with scooping kitty cat litter boxes and lugging in boxes. I need to exercise a little but have absolutely no motivation. (Hoping that my new antidepressant I started last Thursday will help with motivation as well as depression.) Still waiting for mail order pharmacy to actually send my new sleeping med since insomnia is exhausting.

I made my husband turn the pilot light back on for the furnace. I love him dearly, but he does crazy things like turning the pilot light off in the spring so we don't have to pay the $1 or whatever it would cost to keep it lit year round. We have an antique furnace that has to be partially disassembled to get to the pilot light, so I don't know how to light it myself.
I get anxious every time the temperature outside goes down if I know I can't turn the heat on, even though I think it will warm back up before I would actually need to turn the furnace on.

Ooh, I meant to say something about the Surface the other day when you mentioned needing a personal device. I bought a Surface laptop in 2021 and I frigging love that thing. Glad you bought yourself a Surface as well! I bought the surface pen so I use that instead of a mouse. Also, I get my Microsoft 365 annual subscription for $70 with Best Buy. I do tend to utilize Word and Excel in my outside of work life, though, so it is worth the subscription.
