One of my older son's high school classmates/friends is missing in Yellowstone. They found his campsite and his personal items, but no sign of him since last Tuesday. I’m so sorry to hear that, hope he’s found safe

Was thinking about job interviews and I am so tempted to answer the question "So what drew you to apply here?" with
"Well I hate my current job. I haven't won the lottery and I like eating/having a roof over my head so I have to have a job. Your job matches my resume so here I am!"
I always come up with an answer and I suppose there should be some interest in what you are doing but I am getting so tired of the charade. It doesn't matter how much I want to work for you and why if I don't suit the bottom line you'll fire me in a heartbeat. Can't we all just own up to we are stuck in a capitalistic death spiral and this is a purely transactional relationship?
Beyond that I have settled on my answer is no for that job after going through my job objectives list and thinking about some of the questions/responses I got. I did not like the director explaining things using a lot of abbreviations and when the manager mentioned he was using too many he went "I know I wanted to see if she would stop me and ask questions!"
That's not fair because I have to concentrate on what someone is saying to me and then I will ask questions/repeat/get clarification afterwards. I feel like that kind of question is biased against ND people and also goes against how a lot of us were trained to do job interviews.
Same with I "showed up early". It was 10 minutes and I was given no real direction just the address. It's located in an industrial area with A LOT of plants that aren't exactly labeled the best and I had to be really really close to see the address. I drove by it three times before I finally caught on a little sign that it said the name of the parent company. There was no receptionist at the desk (they don't have one at this time) so I had no way of confirming I was at the right location without calling the number HR gave me which was the manager.
I told them I wanted to give myself enough time that if I was at the wrong location I wouldn't be late to the actual location.
There are other things that don't align with what I want. I am not making the same mistake I did when leaving the university. I want to leave here but I'm not going to try to twist myself into a pretzel convincing myself this is my only option/chance again.

I really like this one! The only thing I noticed was that it doesn't have central AC (the window units were visible in some pictures). I don't know if that is a deal breaker for you, or if you could add AC later if it already has duct work (I saw floor vents, not radiators or anything).

I like this one a lot. The en suite is gorgeous. And it says Pending!!!! Move in ready sounds great. I am guessing that you have taught two sellers that the first offer may well be the best offer. My parents learned that the hard way when they sold their house. The window units that I can see appear to be in the upper level where it would get warmer than the main level. If it doesn't have ducts for air to get up there, that would need a window unit.

I don't want chickens. I'm assuming they will take them. I love the deck! The yard is huge and ideal for the twins.

I'll put in a different type of unit.

Just checking in from central California where we're still having summer weather despite what the calendar says. I discovered in Mid-May that I had scary-high triglycerides, scary-high cholesterol, high blood pressure and waaaay too high blood sugar. That started 4 months of new and changed meds, new doctors (cardiologist, gastroenterologist, endocrinologist, allergist/immunologist and a psychologist), and soooo many diagnostic tests. Short version: I've got gallbladder disease (gallstones) and am not a surgical candidate, I've got Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), heart disease and (now) better controlled T2 diabetes (had it for 20 years, but Menopause made things worse. Anyway, I spent 4 days in the hospital in August, went through two angiograms, and now have one stent and two unstentable blocked arteries. I am supposed to have a Fibroscan (sort of a special ultrasound) for my liver in the hopes I can avoid a liver biopsy (which, in my case, would possibly have to go through my jugular vein.) I've been working with a cardiac dietician and have revamped my eating. That, along with meds, has my cholesterol back where it should be, my diabetes is getting better, and now my triglycerides are just diabetic high, not scary high. Getting old (I'm 59) is more challenging than I'd expected. I'm glad that you were able to find new doctors and treatments. I hope that your health improves and that the fibroscan works well for you. We finally hit fall weather today in southern Pennsylvania, although I don't know if it will last.

I'm happy to report that the cold front finally made its way through our area earlier this morning. We got a little rain too, which was great! It's so much nicer outside now!
I made gluten free banana nut bread to celebrate. It's pretty good!

The inspection is always the crazy part.

I'm so ready to just move in. I'm so tired of dealing with the search. I need to find out about the inspection. I want to do it soon. The seller needs some time to move, so I need to figure out how soon I can take possession. My lease is up at the end of October. I want to be flexible, but I have a deadline.
