I picked up an obscene amount of dog hair and mopped the floors. At some point I need to bathe myself and get ready for the day.

I think you guys jinxed me. For the first time in ages, I lost my car keys yesterday. I finally found them on the seat of my car in the garage. Oh well, at least I found them. SAME!!!! I knew they had to be in the house because I couldn't have gotten in otherwise. I searched the fridge and the bathroom before I finally found them in the kitchen hidden by the garbage can. Jeez.

Eating the last of the leftover salad and the last grilled chicken thigh for breakfast. That clears some of the leftovers out of the fridge.

Wandering off in search of dinner. It's an experience. No written English here so it's by picture. Have you tried the Google Translate app? My kids found it very useful while traveling.

Holy crap. Mom's brain is starting to remember bits and pieces and is forming its own narrative.
She's out of it. She thinks the hospital is going to take her away from us and lose her.
So clearly she remembers something about that. She's convinced the nurses are conspiring or we're going to leave.
She's mad at me for not listening to my mother. I'm not taking it personally.
But JFC when does this end? It's just one trauma after another.

Drama - some of it is the anesthia and pain meds along with the trauma and anxiety.

It's a little tricky with menus though. Esp ones mounted on the wall. That's OK. I found a great sausages place with fabulous mustards and bread.

Pre Google Translate, I was in Germany alone. I had to overnight there on m6 way to Turkey. Anyway, I walked into a pub for dinner and was utterly clueless as to what was written. I just pointed at something and crossed my fingers I wasn’t getting liver. Anything else was ok. I got beef and mushrooms in gravy over noodles. That worked.

I'm not taking any of it personally but I do have a wall up that will probably come down later. During one of mom's hospital stays, I sent her flowers. During the night, she had a dream that the flowers were strangling her so a nurse or aide on staff had to remove then ASAP. She also panicked whenever she was taken from her room for a walk. Walking to the end of the hall was required to go home. I can't tell you how many extra days she was there that time because she wouldn't leave her room. No matter what drugs they gave her or what I said, my sister said or my niece said, she had a panic attack within two doors from her room. It's now been 4 years since I was last hospitalized and they were always short staffed for that shift at night and on weekends. Always. There are only so many nurses on a floor. The night I was doing the colonoscopy prep in the hospital, the elderly woman across the hall somehow managed to fall out of a bed and hit her head. My prep was no longer a priority. As crappy as I felt, I actually understood. I could see them working on her as they had her flat on the floor. The alarm went off but she was on the floor before anyone got to her.

Yeah I'm letting it slide. I told Bob she's using full names so watch out. The nurse explained to me it's called ICU delirium and it's very common. She said it usually lasts 24 hours. The balloon will come out Monday and they can get her moving around which will help mark time and improve blood and oxygen flow. And once it's out she can eat and that'll help too.

I'm just catching up here. NomoreDramaQ1015 I'm so sorry for all you are going through with your mom. Unfortunately, I'm coming back to let you know I'm going crazy with grief. I lost Dali Thursday night-Friday morning. My mother left the balcony open overnight. He jumped out. We've been looking for him, calling him, posted on Facebook and local lost pets websites, let the neighbors know so if they see him to alert me. We haven't found him and I think he's gone. I feel like someone has hit me with in the head with a very heavy object. I feel like I'm in a nightmare and I'm going to wake up any moment, but no, this is my reality. I told my mom a couple of weeks ago I have to microchip him but busy with work and activities I didn't get around to do it. Of course I'm kicking myself for not doing it. My mother is kicking herself for forgetting to close the balcony. Right now, I'm going to bed. I took a sleeping pill, which I never do. But I havent slept since this happened. I'm angry at mom, angry at myself, at the world in general and also with people who try to help but make stupid suggestions, recommendations, etc. First of all Im worried about him.Second I'm worried about myself. He changed my life and gave me such a positive presence, company, etc. It's hard for me to grasp this. And I can't believe life can be so cruel, for one mistake since I got him. I've always been careful. It was one time my mom wasn't careful. Most cats find their way home but he doesn't? I hope I can get a few hours of sleep.

So sorry Ava. Hopefully he finds his way home you've taken him on walks before.
I would call local humane societies to report him missing. If a kitty shows up matching his description they will call you.

I am sitting outside with Newbie, I am still afraid to sit out here without her or Mister. Mister is gone to help his Dad fix something on his car. His Dad had called Mister because he ran into something he couldn’t figure out. Mister got exasperated because some of his Dad’s answers to his questions didn’t really make sense. When they got off the phone I told Mister, just go help him. Mister really just wanted to finish watching his movie, and said he’d go after the movie ended. I asked “how many times did your Dad stop what he was doing to tend to you or help you with something”? He is not too happy with me right now. But the reason Mister can fix a lot of stuff on vehicles and could handle some home repairs before he even went to school for HVAC, is because he learned a lot of stuff from his Dad. His parents got married when they were 19yo and had Mister some years later. His Dad learned how to fix stuff out of necessity, and passed that knowledge to Mister as he was growing up. Over the last couple of years, his Dad has still been trying to fix stuff like he always has, but it often doesn’t really work out anymore. He clearly is not as sharp as he use to be. I knew Mister wasn’t really happy about what I said, and I understood why. His job is really stressing him out, and today was the first day in a long time that he was off work and had the house to himself, since I was at work, and YD went with her Mom yesterday. I understand the joy of being home alone, because I value it too. He just wanted to chill out all day. So I explained to him why I usually tell him to just go help his Dad. First, because the tables have turned, he learned so much from his Dad, and now his Dad needs him to help him sometimes (not necessarily teach, because it often has to do with stuff his Dad taught HIM years ago ). Once a man, twice a child. And secondly, I told him I’d rather have a parent that needs my help with practical things even though they won’t ask me to do it for them (his parents), than a parent that tries to demand I do things for them that they just can’t be bothered to do for themself (my parent). About 20 minutes later Mister told me he was leaving to go help his Dad.

I just pointed at something and crossed my fingers I wasn’t getting liver. Anything else was ok. I got beef and mushrooms in gravy over noodles. That worked. Sometimes just doing a Google search on the item works and you get a description in English- I did that at a Middle Eastern restaurant in Germany and got a nice meal. In Bolivia I tried using a Spanish-English dictionary app and it didn't work for a lot of things that were from the indigenous peoples. I'm back from Pella- a nice drive, 3.5 hours with no stops. Waze led me through some smaller highways between Pella and I-35 but it worked. Just glad the Auto Club didn't have to find me in one of those places. I bicycled 15 miles this morning so am taking it easy.

The online pharmacy that assured me ds insulin pumps would be delivered by today aren't here, no record of the order. First they say it'll ship 8/6 which definitely doesn't work. He's literally wearing the last one which will last until Monday/Tuesday if we're lucky. Then they said the best they can do is to ship in 3-5 days. Manufacturer can't help me till Monday and in person pharmacy doesn't have them since they're the new model. Called back and online pharmacy assured me they'll be delivered Tuesday which is better than previously but still probably too late.
Beyond frustrated. We usually have some wiggle room but with the new system they would only ship 5 pods which lasts 10-15 days at best days. I swear everyone I spoke with including the pharmacy last week assured me they'd get the next set to us before he ran out.
We have old pods from his old system that we'll revert to if needed thank goodness. I suppose since my insurance is changing we'd probably change online pharmacies anyway. I just wish anyone even pretended like they cared. I swear they talk word salad, stringing together nonsense sentences, not listening to anything I've said.

Ava are you a part of the Facebook group Nextdoor? If you are, put Dali's picture out there, and your neighbors can tell you if they've seen him hanging around. We've had fur babies that disappeared for weeks over the Summer in my community, that have returned home safely. Wishing you the best!

You need medication when you need it, not when the pharmacy can get it to you. DH's company wanted us to switch to their online pharmacy, but I said NO WAY. DS's anti-seizure medication is too important to trust to the US Postal Service, as it's gotten so much worse the last couple of years.

Ava I feel for you. My really timid indoor only cat got out last week and was gone for 24 hours. I just felt sick and so worried. He did come back acting terrified. My heart goes out to you and I hope Dali makes his way home quickly.
