I hope I can find a phone in that price range! I don't need the latest, just functional. I love my Samsung s8 edge. I'm pissed, I have to replace it. The S8 is my last phone that I'm reusing and I really love it - never much liked the Pixel 5 I replaced it with in Feb 2021 - too big and bulky. The only problem with the S8 is the volume adjustment.I'd frozen in place so I can't take screen shots or adjust the volume. IIRC I splashed Coke on it. Lol I still have my s7, that I replaced with my s8. I liked my s7 too, but it overheats quickly, even after I had the battery replaced. Never figured out why it overheats. The s7 is also heavier and bulkier than the S8. But not a ton. I wish I could get my S8 updated, so I could keep using it. Good to know, about your Pixel 5. Thanks.

I was told I could take whatever I wanted, and took just a few packages of pens, markers and mechanical pencils (he had totes full of them all new in the packages). There was tons of good stuff (literally...tons) but that's all I could bring myself to take home.

We went to a Korean market DIL goes to and I got kimchee. It isn't like the commercial stuff canned at all. I'm sure someone made it, it is so good. I put it on my leftover bulgogi then just ate some from the jar. Just delicious, I like it anyway, but this stuff was very, very, good.
I need to pick up more foods next time over there, I do like the food a lot.

We saw the Old 97s at a nearby concert under the stars event. It was awesome being home within 10 minutes of the show ending.

And also, I think we managed to meet all of the kids' needs this weekend. Which was a first in a while.

And, also, I think my old job has scarred me with regards to conflict.
I'm going to have to figure out how to fix that.

My mother had lung cancer and opted for surgery only. Due to the location of the incision, she was never comfortable wearing a bra again. She was small busted and preferred to wear shirts that covered her well instead.

My Dad was there and 1 duster was nearby. She had part of one lung removed.

So. We are getting rapid transit. That is supposed to be more efficient.
I used to be able to take one bus to work.
Now, I'm going to have to take two busses. Because I guess take two busses on the exact same route where I used to be able to take one is more efficient.
On one bus, it currently takes me 10 minutes to get from where I park to work.
I'm told that taking two busses, in the name of efficiency, will save me 2 minutes of transportation time. However, I will now have an extra 3 minute wait (perhaps even up to 15-20 minutes, if the buses do not run *exactly* on time.)
How is this more efficient?
I don't understand. I estimate that 3-4% of all working adults in my city work at the location I am at now. That is not chump change. I don't get why transportation is made to be harder under the guises of "more efficient"

Good morning, analytical invisipeeps, weighing choices and alternatives and putting them into action. Welcome to Monday. I hope this day brings you good help and leaves you hopeful. I hope political signage near you is left unmolested and that you gain useful information for your next steps in any endeavor. I hope no one pees in your Cheerios. I hope, weltz, you gain clarity from your visit with the oncologist. It seems that both choices before you have daunting downsides and offer a hope for good results. Cancer treatment has come a very long way recently, especially with immunotherapy. I wish for you low damage treatment of whatever you choose and a strong and happy result. Hugs. Today I'll keep going on the sorting and clearing, this time in the guest room where we stow all our photography supplies. It sorely needs organizing. And I need to sweep up the basement where a lot of it will end up before 10/6 when we have the birthday bash for DH and ODB. Plus I need to finally put together the outdoor glider chair. I did one of the pair and DH has been using it pretty much every day. Yesterday the sun shone bright again, from the early dawn on:

Having so much trouble settling back into work/kid/house/dog mode… DS is having trouble getting his in class work done and I’m not sure what to do about that Will try again to have the call with his sped case manager and see whether supports can be put in place.

She had a lobe removed, and had a few lymph nodes removed She was in the hospital for 11 days, but that was solely because her chest tube was leaking air under the skin. If it wasn't for that, she would have been there about 5 days. SHe is also opting for chemo because of the lymph nodes. If it was just the lung, they didnt recommend chemo.

I am having my will redone. It is done. It came in the mail on Saturday.
I called this morning to set up an appointment. No time until 3 weeks. He is always booking 3 weeks out. I don't understand. The signing won't take 10 minutes.
I also asked how much I owe. He sends the bill later. He does everything by snail mail. I don't understand that either.

I had a real unpleasant weekend at the hoarder house. Boy, if that doesn't make you want to declutter and throw things away. Everyone is so angry at him for leaving them with this mess. There's no sitting around reminiscing about grandpa. It's just a bunch of royally pissed off kids and grandkids trying to not kill one another with all the stress they're under. I was told I could take whatever I wanted, and took just a few packages of pens, markers and mechanical pencils (he had totes full of them all new in the packages). There was tons of good stuff (literally...tons) but that's all I could bring myself to take home.
Why is there such a rush to clean out the house? We worked on mom's house again yesterday. DS and I returned products to the MLM company she sold products for and got about $1,800 in credits. Organizing the stuff was quite a project. I found 3 more products we could return in her closet yesterday. Idk if we will return or not. I packed up most of the clothing left in her closet and dresser drawers for Goodwill. I have maybe 7 bags and a big box for goodwill. I have a small amount of stuff from her bedroom to shred and about 7 years of tax returns to scan and shred. Last weekend we got rid of a truckload of junk, and will be working on what to do with antique furniture, jewelry and dishes next. We also still have not emptied the spices form the kitchen cabinets or the dishes. I think we have the garbage can full. I may go do that tomorrow on my lunch so we can make a run to our city tomorrow. Unfortunately, I found another $1500 in target gift cards a scammer apparently got out of my mom in 7/2020. I am resolved to declutter, and I am hopeful that if I have a budget, we will be less likely to be scammed. It may of course make no difference, but hopefully if we get into the habit of reviewing things with our kids or an accountant, problematic behaviors will be caught. I also had 23 messages on my phone in one day last week from politicians, so I want to make up guidelines like a budget and timeline for political donations. As far as I am concerned they are out of control and they are nearly as bad a scam artists. I also feel time is somewhat of the essence, but DH told me mom's house is in a price range that will be easy to sell no matter when we get it ready. He came yesterday and mudded the holes where DB took down the lift that was used to transport my dad from the TV room to the bedroom and bathroom etc. DH also wants to take out the taller doors that were installed to allow the transport thingy and put back lower doors consistent with the rest of the house. We also have to decide if we will undo where we moved the sink in the bathroom and put in a second door to make the lift work. If we move it back where it was originally, the walk way is crowded, but it allows for a small linen closet inside the bathroom.

Why is there such a rush to clean out the house? Because she is 83 years old and would like to get the hell out of there and have as many years of normal life that she can, but she needs money to do so.
And I'm not so sure it's a "rush", but people have to keep working on it every weekend or it will never get done and they're a couple hours drive away from everyone. Even with a full crew there most weekends, it's probably going to take months before they can even get it to the point where they could have an estate sale company come in.
eta: Also, keep in mind, this is not just an old person's house with a lot of stuff. It's a 3 story house, an attached garage and shop, 3 pole sheds, 8 cube vans, a school bus, and a trailer house all literally PACKED (there's an actual airplane buried in one of the shops). Plus about 30 some cars in various stages of decay inside and outside. Ex spent most of Saturday with a couple guys just trying to get 3 cars dug out of the shed after sinking into the sand the past 40 years or more.

I don't know if it will depress you to hear this, but it took me 3 years mostly working by myself to clean out my parent's house, and then get a contractor in there to get the house up to code before I could sell it. I'd like to get those 3 years back. This was a 3-story house, and an overstuffed garage. I'm SO thankful there were no outbuildings.

On your edit - our farm managers property is like this. He has huge barns and silos, the stuff he needs is organized and looks great but it's still an overwhelming amount of stuff. Then you get to the silos of random stuff jfc even I freak out a bit.

MPL can some areas outbuildings? Just be carted off for junk! Based on what they are finding. If not finding much of value just junk That’s a huge problem he left his wife. So sorry Would she be able to get a loan to move? Then repay with proceeds from the house and property Great that grands and family are helping but maybe this can be hastened somehow

My dad has this idea about buying the flip behind their house and moving in to it, subdividing that lot, building another house for dsis and my family moving into their current house. My mom isn't nearly as interested so I don't think it will go anywhere but the idea of moving us....let alone my parents and dsis. So overwhelming.

So sorry Would she be able to get a loan to move? Then repay with proceeds from the house and property Great that grands and family are helping but maybe this can be hastened somehow It's a mix of junk and valuable stuff and a ton is being thrown away. They had a 30 yard dumpster filled and removed already and have a 30 yard recycling bin there too, plus the bonfire goes all weekend. Literally all my son did Saturday make his way up the two flights of steps and haul boxes of stuff we handed him for the fire.
But you have to go through everything. He kept ALL his mail. Every. Single. Piece. Plus all the paperwork from the stores that he owned after he retired. So, lots of junk, but lots of things that need to go to the executor who is trying to figure out the finances (luckily one of the sons works for a company that does estate settling, so they're handling that mess with him), and they've come across some stock certificates just stuck in with other papers.
I think he used to be really organized (even had inventory sheets hung up in his office), then he lost control or it just went off the rails.

They have someone that wants to buy both properties (apparently he bought the trailer house/barn across the road too, but right now there is a lien against the farm because he hasn't paid his taxes in the past 10 years and owes them over 100K. The kids are going to re-file something like 15 years worth of taxes because apparently he royally screwed them up as well. They figure it will cost them about 25K to do so, but he shouldn't owe 100. He had about 2.5 million in company stock at one point, but that's all being worked out as well. He has taken at least 600K in loans against it and they're not sure if he was selling it too.

What a nightmare. It sounds like he did well for a long time and things went sideways. I understand the wife wanting to get out, but she likely contributed as well - or at least was complacent. Reminds me of Pink Cashmere not quite in-laws. Where the wife sort of covered up a lot of the husband's mental health issues/deterioration to maintain a facade that they were ok when they were not.

I do far too much for too many people. That needs to stop ASAP.
ETA - Today is youngest nephew's birthday. I KNOW there will be some sort of cake at my parent's house. I have not been invited. He is turning 8. I spent 6 days in the hospital with my sister taking care of both of them (she had a tubal done, and he had some health issues), while her husband watched football at bars. But I am the bad guy/gal. I need to start focusing on the people who appreciate me.
