Dh hasn't tackled anything. He laid down for a nap to recharge 5 hours ago.
Then dc told me the house stinks because it smells like vinegar and cleaning supplies - shocker because I've been cleaning. I might abandon them tonight. We'll see if I come back.

Making halfassed progress on my normal weekend chores and feeling nearly human after a day away from the pressure cooker that is trying to get my mother’s living situation and services sorted out in five days. Still pretty impressed with myself at the sheer productivity of the past week…but now I have to catch up on my actual responsibilities. Thank goodness for DH keeping things ticking along and encouraging me to recover today (I did the lawn, laundry and 2/3 of the floors but cooking is courtesy of ihop and the local Chinese restaurant today

I came across a set of vintage valentines in MIL basement and two vintage sewing needle cards too.
I'm going to figure out how make a shadow box.
I'm really excited to finally find something to create and display on my wall that belonged to her.

GS and GD here for the weekend. Made Mac and cheese, haven’t made that since my kids were in grammar school. Went out for ice cream. I had black raspberry, GD had cake batter and GS had cotton candy. Neither of the kids flavors seemed good to me. Now home running around the yard then will make a cherry blueberry pie with them. Tomorrow blueberry pancakes then to the local museum
Busy busy kiddos

Just got back from FL. I took a route through NE GA and the Appalachians. I saw a fair bit of color starting, and it seems too early since this has been such a hot summer, and cold snaps haven’t started yet.
I think fall is going to be weird.

I am disappointed in some of this. My judgement or vision let me down this time. On the surface this place looked great. Hubs just said quit trying to fix these blinds and I finally found ones that cover the whole window. We decided not to get the ones like we had but found theses that are side mounts like we wanted. I know that even very good dual pane windows let in cold if they have some age on them. So we ordered 9 blinds at $85 each which is a good price. They are the 2 inch faux wood blinds that are like the ones in here now. Also a 144 inch rod for the living room and 2 45 inch in here too, the rest are fine. I think the blinds in the bathroom and kitchen are ok but they are short ones so won't cost much to replace. I did not see half of these were in poor condition. But again this stuff is aesthetics. We will get there. Now to go buy more paint, 2 yellows this time. Or take a nap first, that sounds better! I'm sorry your new home is such a disappointing and costly struggle. Without a complete inspection, properties can hold a lot of ugly surprises. I hope you had good news on the malfunctioning heaters for your tub as you seem to look forward to lots of good soaks there. One of the best things we ever did was install genuine wood blinds on many of our windows-while pricey, they do insulate well and allow us to include or exclude sunlight as needed. We swapped a couple of windows out to contemporary shades when we remodeled in 2015 just for aesthetic reasons, but the wood ones have held up incredibly well.

It's been a mostly gray cloudy day accompanied by some half-hearted drizzle. The sun did peek through briefly a couple of times as a tease.
Our main project for the day was canning 28 half pints of salsa as a pantry stock-up. We were down to our last 3 jars of salsa from the batch we made last year.

I will echo the weird fall vibes.
It's turned off very very dry here. Our ash tree is already dropping leaves like crazy. They are brown, curled and crunchy!
This morning I noticed the top of one of our maple trees is already starting to turn red. This is weeks ahead of when it should be turning red!
There is a huge pecan tree on the street next to ours. When I walked the dog there this morning, I could not believe how many of the nuts have already dropped and been crunched up by the squirrels.

A few weeks ago was August. Way too early for this part of the country. Talked to my NH brother this morning and he said color by him is a few weeks too early as well.

Went to dinner with the two grandchildren then FaceTime with their mom. Now they’re taking a bath with a bath bomb! They are so funny, they are excited to take a bath! Early bed then church after breakfast in the morning.

Well. DD1 bought her own homecoming dress online.
I thought I would be cut out of the process. And I had the sadz.
And I cheered up. We did our traditional 3 hours of shopping (for shoes) where she hates everything she sees.
All is right in my world.
I have to keep at it yet today.

Probably making my neighbors nervous. Firepit going and lighting up anything in the vicinity. Not worked up because I have the hose with me. But DAMN!!! I got 5 years of wood almost gone! I may have to buy firewood after this. Although it looks like a new phone may be first. Crap. This one is being a pain.

Wells Fargo has updated their app, so I no longer have access to online banking, because my phone is too old and when my kids moved me, they got rid of my desktop computer. Ugh. I hope you're able to get a new phone soon. At least my phone is working well still.

Twice i've dropped it in the bathroom and now the upper quarter of the screen won't work. Such a pain!

OK. Now. I am done. I am ticked I wasted an hour doing something I didn't need to do for mom.
And also, I really would like to relax for more than a half hour. I guess I'll have to wait until next weekend.

Soup, I don't know if the tub in the bathroom has heaters but we saw in the brd oeaker box heater 1 and 2, I'm curious what they are.
Wood blinds would be nice but since I like white would be a waste of money to get wood.
I have done laundry today and not much of anything else. DIL called and wanted to go out to lunch at a Korean restaurant. DD and I went, it was very good The kimchee and cucumbers were not so hot I could eat them, sooo good. I had bulgogi was good. We went to the Korean store and DIL bought a bunch of stuff to fix food for son. He loves it after living there so long and she learned to make it. She called awhile ago that she had left her groceries in the car. I went out and brought in the items that need refrigerated.
When I walked out 2 big deer were looking at me from a tree in our yard, they just ambled off.
Grandson got his mom to let him stay tonight, she is lonely when son is gone and he is right now. After all he ate he is eating yogurt and looking for other stuff. But then I'm eating raw cabbage and thinking of trying a bite of kimchee to see how hot it is.
Grandson is cute, the room is small but he is making it his, well other than my desk and file cabinet. He has clothes left here, toys, a little table of his grandad's he wanted and even put a throw rug in there.
Hubs was trying to fix some cabinets, he has been all over trying to find some parts. He said I finally gave up after all day on this, he accomplished nothing.
DIL wants me to help her choose paints and is going to paint their bedroom. Quite a job as she has this dark blue like I do in a couple of rooms. Likely lots of Kilz first for both of us.
It turned out to be a good day after all, but little or nothing accomplished.

I went and saw Beetlejuice in the theater by myself. Couple cheesy parts but would definitely recommend. It was good to get out of the house for a bit.

I've heard that going to see Beetlejuice by yourself is a decidedly less-satisfying experience than seeing it with someone else. Or maybe that was just the musical?

I just like white and the 2 inch because they are so easy to clean. If I don't have indigestion don't know why, Korean food, raw cabbage, and a nectarine.
time for bed

Good morning, energetic invisipeeps engaged in recreational activities and resting. Welcome to Sunday. I hope your day offers or extends any break you got yesterday and you emerge serene and confident. I hope you enjoy blueberry pancakes and trees prematurely changing color; children and grands and friends; salsa with tortilla chips and of course, a sundae. Now I want salsa. Chunky. With a chicken quesadilla. I'm sure with 28 half pints there are some to share, catsareme? I also would do justice to apple chips. We've had indications of leaf color change, too, and acorns on the ground already. It's really dry. No rain in over 3 weeks now. Yesterday hit 80 degrees even here where we duck the heat with the prevailing winds over the water. It will be a weird fall, I agree. The kitchen is shaping up now that I have the counters mostly cleared. I bought some magnets to hold the recalcitrant cabinet door closed. First I tried tightening the hinge screws then loosening and tightening them again but that didn't work. The magnets do work, so yay. The cabinets are original to this 1950 house. At some future point when there is extra $$ I'll do the cabinets over, replace the counter tops and the flooring and redo the wall space. It's functional for now and the cabinets are high quality solid wood, so this will wait. The back fence is a higher priority. Today I'll vacuum and dust and declutter the bedrooms. I was going to start putting away summer clothes but then the heat returned, so that will wait. Yesterday was another cloudless day. I got this picture 30 minutes before sunrise when the air still held a lot of moisture:

Has anyone had an elderly kitty with feline dementia? Our last girl is will be 17 in Feb. Conversation with the vet amounted to “don’t worry about it too much, they usually pass away from other conditions before the dementia gets bad”.
I want to know when it does become a problem, and anyone with advice/feedback might be helpful.

finnime - I think I missed the post with the cabinet details, but I'll suggest taking out one of the screws and bringing it to Home Depot to get a slightly larger one for that hinge. think a #8 instead of a #6, for instance. I had to do that when I had my cabinets painted. the screws weren't stripped, but that's what the cheap cabinet materials felt like, if that makes any sense.

I sat out on the deck about 5 am this morning, listening to two barred owls have a conversation. I love hearing the owls. It was a good start to today.
