I'm starting to come too. I was up at 3am because my mosquito bites I didn't know I had were itching like a mofo.
Taking some time to stitch today. So I need to get going.

I liked giramomma's post not because I liked the content but because I agreed with her assessment. I think DFCS is focused on keeping children from being physically harmed and killed and there just isn't time to deal with kids who are not in imminent danger. It's a horrendous situation and could be dealt with if society as a whole was willing to pay more in taxes to employ more social workers. What do you think are the chances of that happening?

Yeah, I've def been told by social workers that bc she's 'safe' she's less of a priority.
Teen had episode at school which everyone seems to have handled well. Learned that they have to call bio mom first but then I'm their second call. I was in a client mtg and didn't recognize the principal's number. Teen texted come get me shortly after.
She's beyond worried about a repeat of last spring where she missed 20+ days of school and had so much makeup work to do.
Settled her in bed with broc cheese soup and a smoothie and she's going to rest and watch "How to get away from murder" which maybe isn't the best show choice but it keeps her engaged and we both chuckle through all of the plot twists.
Now to try to meet my client deadlines for today. Fortunately I have a lot of personal capital built up at work, but I'm also not spinning myself in circles to try to stay on top of everything like I've done in past crises. Looked up FMLA here and have to burn thru all vacation, so will hold off and see where we are next week.

I never commented to DH that DD does not feed the rabbits or pay much attention to them when she is home. Last time she was home, I had asked her if she fed the rabbits when she called me from the road, and she said she had not even gone downstairs. She travels and is away from home a lot, often gone 3 days at a time.
So, nobody feeds the rabbits? They starve for days at a time? That's really cruel.

School sent through 504 paperwork. That can only help, right? No reason not to fill them out, right? I want to do right by teen but don't have bandwidth to research this like I normally would.

It seems like it would be good to fill out the paperwork and have it in place if needed. Maybe it could give bonus teen additional time for making up missed work? Probably easier to establish now in a place of sort of calm versus in a hospitalization situation.

She is very mad at me about this and how it was handled. She said I should have told her to make a plan. It was not something my DH gave me a warning on. He came home and said I am getting rid of them today. She said she was on a flight when I texted her and she couldn’t do anything about it. I called and told him she is so mad over this she is not even coming home today. He said you should have let me get rid of them and it would all blow over in a month. Things are not good. I am between a rock & a hard place. I feel so alone. She has a vacation planned later this month, I had told her I would keep them till after her vacation, but just now I said I would keep till Thanksgiving. DH is all about what he wants. It only matters what I want if it lines up with what he wants.

Ds found a study that avocado oil and peppermint oil worked as well as minoxidil to regrow hair.
I also get a ton of ads for rx hair growth meds - hers is what I remember off the top of my head. I know there's another one.

It sounds like you are just stuck in between two people that are battling it out without any concern for your wellbeing. I do think the rabbits would be much better off if you could give them to a place that would care for them and give them some mental stimulation. I have something similar with my SIL, who always pulls on my heartstrings trying to get me to buy stuff for the supposed benefit of my nephew and nieces. And my husband angrily refuses to buy anything for them, because his brother has a job and could afford everything they need if they didn't go on so many trips. So a lot of times she sends me these texts hinting that she needs this or this, and I just refer it to my husband and tell him to talk to his brother. Because it's totally miserable being caught in the middle between two people with agendas.

I am happy as a clam right now. We went to the "big" grocery store to get some asparagus for tomorrow night and they were taking walk-ins for the new Covid vaccine. Had to wait 30 minutes but no problem with that. We both got a 10% off coupon for future grocery purchases which is cool because this is the store where we stock up on items not carried by Aldi or our little neighborhood grocery.

I do not have animals and am sick of having to sweep/vacuum so often. That is my bigger issue - the hair everywhere. I still have plenty of hair, though it is noticeably thinner (at least to me), I am just sick of finding it EVERYWHERE. If I do not vacuum for a week I find hair tumbleweeds - not normal for a house with no pets!

It really bothers me.

I have always shed hair, but not like since hitting menopause. Any suggestions on hair care, vitamins, etc? Are you on biotin? I think I need to try that. I also use Nioxin shampoo for thinning hairI also use thickening style products and hair fibers (when I can run to the store). Another thing to use is volumizer powder. I've got some left over from DD1's cheer days I am also using up. I figure those cheer girls know that stuff so I'm asking what brand volumizer powder? Thoughts on best type of biotin? Also open to any and all comments from the Peanut Gallery. Oh, and please pass the peanuts!

Finished teeth cleaning . Hygienist wasn’t too bad but it’s never pleasant Now I’m in chair getting a pedicure. Minor pain but love the massage and pretty color on toes when done. I had blue last month and dark peach today Acrylic painting class starts Monday I just ordered a kit and paper on Amazon. Not all the colors on the list but don’t live near a store to buy individual colors. ( and I’m lazy) Saturday is a jazz festival at nearby town and at night a jazz concert at local museum Haven’t decided which yet

I had all these grand plans for a kid-free weekend and having the house to myself with nothing to do, but that is evaporating. Ex called and he is getting worn pretty thin from dealing with his dad's stuff, so I'm going to go down Saturday, bring food for everyone and help out for the day. Not my idea of a great time, but they've been doing this for a month now with no end in sight. Then I got an email from the troop that grapes might be ready this weekend. If they are we're picking on Sunday from 7:30-11:30am so I'll get Carrot from his dad's to do that.
I guess I'll still have Friday night and Sunday afternoon to myself...

Drinking. I am drinking. Gatorade on ice. It is hot as a mad bee's butt out there. I had to get the lawn mowed due to incoming afternoon rains. Glad DH has mostly leftovers for dinner tonight. I am having a salad with some form of protein, probably hard cooked eggs or tuna.

School sent through 504 paperwork. That can only help, right? No reason not to fill them out, right? I want to do right by teen but don't have bandwidth to research this like I normally would. Yes. I’m happy to talk you through it. Let me know and I’ll send you my phone number.

Andi, that is a lovely home, I was concerned it might be some of the really old wiring, but sounds like you are checking it out, so that's good.
But I said before I like that house better than all of them you looked at, I do think that one will serve you well, congratulations.
Hubs and I are almost done painting the room, he is doing the top sections, I am doing the bottom and trimming around windows and doors. It is looking much better than we thought it would, so we are going to live with the color. Now its over the old stuff if we need to redo it, will be faster and easier. But to have it all clean and fresh is what we like. Of course, we have to buy more paint for just a small section. I intend to buy the paint for the hallway and bathroom today. They have all the recessed areas around the windows painted white so I'm going with that too. Also 2 new registers as each has one fin that doesn't not move.
I have bought a lot of houses but I mess up sometimes. I liked this one so well didn't get down and dirty looking at it and didn't realize all this needed done. But its ok, just elbow labor and its keeping hubs busy. Nothing to strenuous for him and quick results.
Son is off again on TDY and we are picking up grandson this evening, so a busy day. Hubs said if I'm to tired to cook this evening we will just pick something up. Both of the kids plus him love pizza, I may fix me some salmon cakes.

I'm pretty happy today, sold my other car for $15k, so that is really helpful and puts me at ease over money, we also sold another for $10k, so makes me feel good. I just want to sell the modular so it doesn't get sucked away for lot rent over there.

A little annoyed. DS's grandma gave grandpa's 2012 SUV to one of the grandsons for free. I realize all this stuff is hers to sell or give away as she sees fit, but as of right now everything is a mess...not just the house and property, but the finances and she could use an influx of cash to keep her going for the first couple months while her kids work out the money situation. The dealership would have given her a few thousand for it. Heck my son would have probably given her 5 or 6K for it. The kicker is this grandson had basically turned his back on the entire family about 5 years ago...mostly due to his girlfriend that is a bit whacko. Worst part is he has a daughter that was like 18 months old when he walked away and none of the grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins have seen her since. But hey, he gets a free SUV for coming back for one day to help out.
