I also am upset that my schedule isn't aligning to go run a 20 minute errand before the store closes today.
And yesterday, Amazon lied to me about when I could get products shipped to me.

perimenopause question, for those a little older than me - I've had the weird sleep patterns for awhile now, among other symptoms some of you have mentioned. Shark Week hit yesterday, a full 2 weeks later than expected. is this just how it is now, that it arrives whenever? just curious what to expect. TIA. All the cues you learned from your body over the last 40 or so years have now gone on vacation. They don’t come home. Never be without supplies, and make sure you carry them a good year after you think everything has stopped. It hasn’t, it’s just a head game.

My mom was ready to give me her leftover supplies and in the end did because it showed up! She was actually kinda excited but her doctor wasn’t happy.

I am wayyyy behind, but this was a struggle I had trying to help DS with his math homework. I kept trying, but I just could not understand the way he was being taught to do it. He didn’t understand it either, which is why I was trying to help him. I showed him how I was taught to do it, which he did understand. Even with the correct answer, he still lost points because the steps he used to get the correct answer was not the way he was being taught at school. That really sucks!!! He got the answer correct! I posted the same scenario earlier in this thread about the same issue when DD1 was in school. I forget who mentioned their DH or a friend teaches more than one method, because even though math is orderly, there is more than one way to get answers an people think differently. As long as the answer is correct, one shouldn’t be “punished” for an alternate solution.

expect the unexpected. You will also be hot, sweaty, and bitchy. And sometimes you will also feel stabby. that was already a thing, fantastic.

Good lord people. Well, I have two plans to obtain strings. It shouldn't be this hard. Really.

I've never needed an excuse to feel hot, sweaty or stabby and bitchiness is just part of the package. Two rounds of chemo for lupus at ages 44-45 froze everything for almost 15 years and at that point the skin on my arms suddenly looked old. With a few other intimate issues we will be exploring HRT later this fall. I just need to have a full blood panel and schedule an appt. Problem is I've had way too many med appts due to lupus and pain mgmt and breathing issues etc.

I'm on the longest conference call ever. The people talking the most have the least experience. I guess I can just hang up and I probably will, but there are some people's input I'm interested in.

I've got one every Tuesday for basically logistics planning, but it's the site where we package 6 products and the call is almost always 90min or more...and it's minimally related to me, but I do need to sign off on almost everything so I still have to call in and listen. I def feel your pain.

We did the lesson on common core multiplication today, although it was just the introduction so we were only splitting up one of the factors. It was kind of ridiculous because each problem had like 4 lines of steps, which took several minutes. Then after we had the answer, I would multiply it the old school way in like 2 seconds to make sure that the we got the right answer the common core way.
I let her do the rollercoaster on my VR headset in between lessons and she talked me into buying more rollercoaster routes.

About 3 years after I thought I was finished, I found out in London that was not true. So off to Boots I went. What great timing. That was the end.

I can't speak exactly to what you're working on, but I will say all those different methods *I think* help solidify the concept behind the answer, and different methods work for different people. At my kids school, sometimes they have to do a problem a certain way, but it's never been taught as the only way. I've said before that I did well in lower math levels probably because I was a rule follower. Once I got to higher levels of math and there weren't simple rules to follow to get the right answer I struggled.

Routine day here. I did some Quicken stuff and watered potted plants while DH paid bills and replaced a bulb in the outdoor lighting. I'm going online and make some donations in local political races, and we'll watch TV later.

DH and I decided not to have the cameras' function restored. We originally installed them and primarily maintained them to guard against toxic neighbors who are no longer a threat. I might or might not think about a Ring camera at some point.

They just claimed on the news that the wildfire smoke is not getting down to our level (you can see the haze in the air). I call bullsh#t. My eyes have been watery for days, and it's been smelling like we've got a bonfire in our backyard during this same time. I sometimes think they lie so people with asthma or other breathing issues don't panic.

Just got an email from medicaid office social worker...bio mom won't confirm or deny that she received my overnight mail of all the forms we need from her as well as addressed and stamped envelopes to send them all the correct places.
She is not inclined to return the signed paperwork giving children's hospital permission to talk to oral surgeon or for the medicaid dentist to refer to oral surgeon. Instead she's going to call all these places and ask a bunch of questions that she won't understand the answers to. Meanwhile clock is ticking for oral surgeon appt to hold 9/20.
She's also not inclined to give consent for new psychologist appt 9/17 and instead may meet us there which will make for a lovely productive appt.
Psychiatrist also suggested increasing zoloft since teen and I both reported that it wasn't keeping her depression at bay enough even before this latest chaos. Psych reported that bio mom doesn't understand the diagnosis and is still hung up on it being caused by medication, school stress, diet, lack of sleep and/or therapy itself.
I'm also increasingly pissed that my 3 voicemails left with children's services case worker in the midst of the drama last week went unanswered. I can continue to hotline each instance of medical neglect by bio mom but it doesn't matter if the case worker never responds.
Heaven help me. This just continues to become more and more absurd.
And I managed to call my friend back about her job search and she proceeded to try to out all the bad things still happening at our prior school. Shut that down twice and won't have anyone break the healthy boundary I've established for myself. I've informed the church of our transfer to new church which prompted several emails from staff and acquaintances all of which I've immed blocked and deleted without reading much less responding.

Well. Apparently I have to un-suck it.
DH actually has been thinking about doing something for our anniversary. Of course, it's causing some anxiety in me, which I'm not happy about. But it is very thoughtful.
And I got stuff crossed off the to-do list. Like a normal person.

Adding cable tv to our Internet provider. Evidently we don’t get over the air channels because we are in a valley and there are no signals here. I miss my Jeopardy!

Doing ok, going to bed about 12, real early doesn't work was up half the night anyway/
DD and I got our hair cut today, they cut a ton off her and only 6 weeks,we are going to 5 next time. It looks so nice on her.
Hubs fixed the doors so they all latch today, that was really welcome. We were going to take stuff to the tomorrow but is supposed to rain, so hubs is going to paint our bedroom ceiling. I will wash down the bathroom walls. Don't know if he will get that ceiling too. He told me wait till he gets home to do the sidewalls that moving furniture was to hard for me. But I'm going to try.
I really like the light lavender walls but I have beautiful blue curtains for winter and not so sure that will look good. Guess no one will see them but us, but still. I really don't want blue, peach might be very pretty. I wanted him to do light fixtures today but he said if he is painting the ceilings, he will just clean them then, or I will.
I'm thinking of doing the other bathroom in light grey instead of that dark blue. I was looking at the tub in there tonight and saw dirty rings in it, so I got out the scouring powders and went over it about 3 times, I didn't realize it was so bad, it is nice and shiny now.
So we are still moving slowly forward, we both are doing less at a time then we used to, but we will get there.
I need to straighten the top of the shrubs against the house, will have to get out a ladder, just too tall to lift those and trim. We can't get them lower because of big limbs in there.
So to bed I go in a few minutes.

At what point does the teen’s medical health get taken from her control? Do there need to be so many reports on file? Does there need to be another critical episode? It sounds like mom is stonewalling this, not to help her child but as a power play against you. Can CPS (or whatever agency deals with this) help?

Good morning, invisipeeps engrossed in raising teens and tweens, roofs, hell and tomatoes. Welcome to Wednesday. I hope for you on this day that small miracles occur that you notice. I hope there is delightful soup and that no one pees in your Cheerios. DD hasn't heard back from her work yet on returning to the job. It's really stressing her out. I've counseled her that these things take time for a multi-functional group to act on, and to try to relax. The presidential debate last night apparently went very well. I've been pencilling plans for the joint birthday party in October: ODB, who will be 69, and DH, who will be 75. We don't have a very large table so planning on very heavy h'ors d'oevres type foods such as small shish kebabs, chicken satay, grilled shrimp, bacon-wrapped scallops, etc. Their birthday is actually the 22nd but ODB will be out of town for most of the month, so moved it forward to the 6th to celebrate. Made it to the beach yesterday. The sun came out brilliantly:
