I'm so funny. Way too much to do and not enough time to do it. All I care about is whether or not I'll be able to figure out a small knitting project to take with me when I go to webelos camp with the peanut. Priorities.

At 82?! Usually our max driver age is around 70ish, depending on the carrier. 82 is way over that. So your policy states a maximum age for drivers? Do individual drivers get added to the policy, or is it just issued to the company? Yes. A commercial policy lists a maximum driver age. This particular one says 70yo. This is why it is getting denied. Individual drivers are added. 1. The trucking company should have known better. 2. The CSR should have checked and known better. Now people are going to be looking at me to fix it and I'm not going to be able to because the guidelines are set an nobody caught it and now the driver is going to have to go and gets to lose their job when they never should have been hired in the first place.

My company took out all the vending machines and put in a style where it's all open shelves like at a store and you just go and pay for your stuff at a kiosk or with the phone app. I'm imagining how much food is going to get stolen with this set up.

we had that at the train wreck place. management had cameras aimed at the machines, too. ok, I'm all packed up and showered. traffic doesn't look awful either out my window on the highway or on the map. I'm going to make a run for it, I think. should be home in an hour or so.

Before covid, they converted the convenience store in my building to self service. And then they accepted cards and it was all downhill for me in avoiding the place lol. They did have cameras.
People stole before from that particular one before it was remodeled because it was run by a blind man. He had to get a bill reader because people would say it was a $20 and give him a $5. Lovely people working in my building.
I had to go in one day earlier this month. Everything except the store that has lottery, is self serve. Even the limited grab and go cafe options are self serve.

DH's work has that. It's clever marketing people spend WAY more with that type of set up than a vending machine. Probably because you can swipe and go. I know that I don't carry much cash on me anymore let alone change for a machine. Fortunately DH is only in the office two days a week which limits the damage.
They have cameras trained on their area as well so while you could steal you probably aren't going to get away with it for long.

I hated it when they went to machines accepting credit cards. I have no issue with overspending in them, but I know others are swiping like crazy. Including my son. It's a lot easier for people to control their spending when the machines only take cash, but obviously the vending companies have figured that out.

@pinkcshmere I hear what you are saying about the family houses being more than houses, representing your grandmother's smarts and desire to provide security for those coming after her. Our house (4th one we've owned and this one the longest) mean more than a building or even $$ spent. I only lived in a house once growing up when we rented one for a year or so when I was 5. The rest of the time it was apartments ranging from modest to awful to government housing that folks called "The Project". Came home too many times to find our stuff on the street because my mother couldn't make rent. We bought our first house back in '75, a little brand new one plunked down in the middle of fields in a new development. We could paint colors on the wall and plant flowers! And, as long as we paid the mortgage, no one could stop us or put us out or come in like the apartment supers did, especially if a woman was home alone. I think this stuff is why I'm fighting so hard against going to live in a senior apartment place as lovely as they are with lots of activities. Once again I couldn't change the window coverings or have a deadbolt on the door. Someday I'm sure we (or just me) will have no choice but to leave, but right now we are staying put. We're fortunate to have enough $$ to throw at maintenance to keep this old place going. We talked to our landscaper this morning when he came to mow about repairing damage from the sewer work and he'll fix that next month or so. He was more upset than we were because he takes a lot of pride in "his" yards and takes it hard when someone digs up his beautiful rock work

Last night’s SLAP was fun. We have friends that just bought a condo that overlooks the bay. There is a gazebo that they can borrow, with tables and chairs so everyone brought food and booze. I brought shrimp salsa, which got scarfed down. I also picked up a 6 pack of blackberry ginger cider to drink that is made locally. They have this, apple and cherry….all are good and very dry. That’s my problem with most ciders, they are too sweet….but ciders taste better on a hot day than wine.
Yesterday was very warm, even overlooking the water. We wound up leaving fairly early as the last 2 nights TD has probably gotten a combined 4 hours sleep. Between the heat and his RLS, he is up and down a dozen times during the night. The waterbed pretty much ensures that when he gets up, that the tidal wave his movement sends wakes me up too. I’m ready to suggest that we ditch it, even though it works too well for all the scar tissue I have in my hips.
I did suggest we look at getting a portable ac for the bedroom. I guess I just need to let that idea percolate in his brain a few months. This worked when I suggested we get a generator.

I decided to jump in and applied for the husky cross yesterday and after filling out a gazillion forms giving them a long list of references and copies of the vet records of the other animals I was denied because I am gone 9 hours of the day for work.
I hate work.
At least I have a dog for the weekend. Ed is staying with us until Sunday night.

Gwen's been taking over dinner. Not sure where the enthusiasm came from but it couldn't have been better timing. She's one out of two so far. Her Mac and Cheese broke. I explained why. Her tomato soup and grilled cheese were awesome. She's attempting honey garlic wings in the air fryer tonight. I lost a lot of produce this week. Not super impressed with how fast it went. Especially for the cost. Think.I may stick with the Farmers market this year instead of the stand I think this is wonderful! My younger DS learned to cook as a teenager. I was working, going through a divorce, and I'm sorry to say I was not much in the mood to cook for two, or even eat due to stress. He continued to cook when he went to college. His girlfriend/now wife didn't know how to cook but her parents sent her money for groceries. So she bought the groceries and he cooked. Nowadays he has a high powered job and at the end of the day he cooks to relax. I love to visit them because I know I will be fed well. He will even cook when he visits me. Birthdays and Christmas are great times for you to expand her cookbook collection.

My DD is in Canada for a Wedding with her boyfriend's family. It is his cousin getting married. His Grandparents also live there. They stayed in rental condo units where his grandparents live last night. She said no A/C but she said it was nice with the fan and windows open. She said they would be outside all day today and that it was going to be very hot-I think they were headed to Vancouver, my weather app says 87 degrees today. The wedding may be in another area, b/c it sounded like they were just staying by his grandparents last night and tonight.

I'm getting about ready to take grandson swimming. We have done nothing this morning. Well I am doing laundry as usual.
I was just reading a forum of how much people hate solar energy coming in, I think it's absolutely awesome, but likely the only one on there that has it to know. Amazing how people hate stuff they know nothing about.
I sure hope they can get the bill through lowering drug prices. That will help a ton of seniors to get their meds. I am able to even though I gripe and don't like paying it, but still can.
Got flea treatment on both cats, they sure don't like that. I just found out that the tapeworm med, well for 4 parasites is now a topical too, so picking that up this afternoon.
We are all ready to go to the pool, waiting on the wash load to rinse so I can load it in the dryer, the rest of the guys sheets. Need to get lunch, sunscreen, I'm sure I have some somewhere, and worm meds then go to the pool. It's 79 so should be good to go.

The Stella cider is pretty dry.
There's something in a lot of beers that has me stuffy after a few sips. When I'm stuffy and can't breathe through my nose I'm just done and over it.
It was one of this lovely allergies that came along later in life for me. My younger self used to drink Bud Light (yeah, yeah I know!). Until the night out when I realized I was covered in a full body rash.
Most liquor is fine but some places don't have a liquor license. I can deal with White Claw but it's not my preferred seltzer. Truly and a bunch of others with fake sweetners are out.
My current favorite is the Mike's lemonade seltzer. DH will also drink these. It can be hard to find.

I made a good decision to run when I did, I got home in about an hour, 1:10. I called AAA on my way home to set up a tow and played a bit of phone tag between then and home. I also needed to return the first rental by 2pm, check in with my friend S for a ride back home, and a couple other things. I finally just got the text from the tow driver that he's on his way - from almost Lower Cape I'm so glad S was able to meet me earlier to return the first rental, b/c now that's done. that office is the opposite direction from where my car is going. I had to laugh - S said she told her DH "not that I'm happy she's having car trouble, but I'm happy she called me to help!" b/c she was mad I wouldn't take gas money from her to drop her at work a couple times in recent weeks when *she* had car trouble. keep your fingers crossed that the dealership has a loaner available by the time I get there with the tow truck. I'm okay to rent if I need to, but I'd prefer to keep that $250 in my checking account if I could.

It can be hard to find. look for a brand called Press. they have a few flavors in 6pks, but you're going to find mixed 12pks most places. the packaging is a mostly matte black carton, but the flavors are funky. my favorite is "lime lemongrass" but none of them use anything fake. and they aren't overly sweet.

DH's cousins had PRESS at their most recent party. I looked it up but the ingredient list had fake sweetners. That is all I can taste in Truly and even a shot of vodka doesn't fully down it.

oh wow, that's surprising. the flavors I've looked at were all natural. there's another good Canadian brand I haven't seen in awhile (no Total Wine near me now), but got in a couple of the boozy care packages during summer 2020 - NUDE. the sweeteners kill me, and Truly is probably the worst. yesterday's boat had Truly as their seltzer option. I opted to pay for cocktails after I realized the wine options were dive bar quality rough. hmm......I just got an email from The Black Dog. they updated their colors for the 'classic cadet' which is my favorite cut of long sleeved t-shirt hoodie. they are currently offering two colors, the blue that I bought over the winter as a late entry to last year's colors, and a yellow that I've wanted for awhile. I don't *need* this, but I really want it. waah.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Pella. I just bicycled another 15 miles today and "discovered" the Third Reformed Church. wow. Lot of people in the pews there on Sunday. trcpella.com/We rented a pontoon boat and went out on Red Rock Lake for 4 hours yesterday. It was a lot of fun- they supplied a raft we could tow and I think everyone got a turn, some at higher speeds than others. DGS3 went with DS and seemed a little scared but then asked ME to go out there with him. He giggled the whole way even when we went faster. Last night was hectic- it was my turn to make dinner for 14 people and I made the bean soup in the morning and then corn bread (in cast iron, of course) just before dinner. Even though people were pretty good about cleaning up, every time I thought I had it all cleared away I'd find another bowl somewhere. We do have a dishwasher but before it was filled we'd run out of silverware and I hand-washed a bunch. I will NOT use the plastic stuff although we did resort to paper plates. I'm thoroughly enjoying Pella and the company here but it will be nice to get back to peace and quiet, too.

Beer contains histamines, gluten, yeast and sulfites. It's the histamines that are doing that to you. Histamines can cause significant nasal stuffiness, and that's why you take antihistimines to combat it.

Ha I should have enough antihistamines on board on a daily basis to combat a case of beer.

Decided to walk the OM for a bit. I need time away from all people before I head up to visit mom.
I know I offered and if they want me to I will but I so don't want to stay at the hospital. I hate them even more now.
I found a Golden Girls coloring book. I snagged it for mom. Don't know if she's up to coloring but if she is it'll give her something to occupy herself besides bad daytime TV. Hospital TV is enough to cause anyone to crack.
