Oh and I think Crestie is dead for real this time unless lizards can go Catatonic like people sometimes do. It is very hard dealing with a lizard without eyelids, no real clue with alive or dead on that alone. I'm going to ignore that issue until after groceries and after late lunch. Not sure what I want to do with the body. I would bury him except I do not have the tools to put his body deep enough, so he would probably become food for the feral cats or similar critters on the property. He wouldn't have died of a known disease, just dehydration and lack of mineral reserves in his head, so it's not necessary to bag him and throw him in the garbage ... which I hate to do but have done since I have been here. ETA - I tried to go to bed at a reasonable hour as I will be out for hours today and won't be able to do other stuff unless its off hours online etc. I ended up taking my bath anyway like 3AM or something. It did chill me out, so I did rest, but not sure about actual sleep and REM. A reasonable person would ask to borrow a small shovel from the maintenance person in their complex to plant a flower or such. Therefore you would have a tool to burry Crestie deep enough in a spot that you would be able to cherish Crestie's memory at your convenience.

I hate everyone today. last night was my crazy neighbor, pacing at the top of my driveway in the road while LD howled. then, she lit up the backyard overnight. I may have yelled out the window that she didn't need to advertise that she was home alone. and then now, I just went out to bring in the roller barrel I forgot to grab after trash pickup, and I waved "slow down" to the driver of a car that came flying around the curve. the car went past my house and stopped in the road, flipping me off in the rearview and shouting something out the window at me. I can't wait to go to FL for my birthday and just get away from here for awhile. This was me yesterday. I had seen a post in the early morning on FB, a random thing as it is not a page I follow, of box mac and cheese, frozen chicken tenders and Hawaiian rolls on a styrofoam plate with the caption "some man worked 12 hours and came home to this". I hid it from my feed because it rubbed me the wrong way. Anyway, a cousin reposted it with with a yucky face. I let her have it. It is 2024. Why are women still judging other women? Why doesn't it say "some woman worked 12 hours and came home to this"? Or better yet, "someone". It obviously was not the healthiest option, but at least they would not have to go to bed hungry. This cousin is one who follows the part of her religion that says the husband is the spiritual leader of the home and she serves him. Eff that. I work just as hard and as many hours as my DH, and my expectation is that we serve each other. This would piss me off too and why I need to step away from Facebook. People do what they can. I have served a lot of chicken tenders and mac and cheese over the years and my boys are pretty darn healthy. Not much serving them to husbands because in both marriages they did all the cooking.

I think some people post on social media just to stir up drama. Before covid, I was regularly gone 11-12 hours a day. DH was grateful to come home to whatever was dinner.

Just took a fresh batch of basil off of the dehydrator. I wish I could get it to grow year round inside, but have never had any luck. It does great in planters outside. Not sure what is going wrong when I try to grow it inside.

I know Basil herb plants had an issue in this area with some sort of blight. I got a plant deeply discounted because of that. I'm not great with making indoor plants survive and Basil as a plant is not something I have had long term success with. I do better with sage, thyme, parsley etc. I plant those outside if I can.

I do all of the cooking, and my husband is quite happy if he comes home to chicken nuggets/mac and cheese, since he likes them both. I try not to make them that often, since it's not very healthy, but he is much happier to come home to something like that than my shrimp alfredo failure last night, which we both ate very reluctantly.

Oh and I think Crestie is dead for real this time unless lizards can go Catatonic like people sometimes do. It is very hard dealing with a lizard without eyelids, no real clue with alive or dead on that alone. Sorry, totally did not mean to laugh at this, but it brought up images of you trying to do all kinds of "is Crestie alive" tests. My dad would call that the perfect pet. Hopefully, you can find a way to suitably bury him, if that's what you would like to do (and if he is indeed dead!)
It is very true. There are numerous entries in Google about how to tell if your crested gecko is alive or not. If you all remember, my first crested gecko, Cresko I think, only made it about three months. She was the third in a trio and was already stressed when I got her. She did not make it through one of her sheds and it was very obvious. This is harder. This is more like my old man Bearded Dragon who I knew was probably dead, but I didn't want to bury him and have him try to claw his way up out of the dirt if he was for whatever reason still alive. Feel free to laugh though, it is a conundrum. His tail did curl a bit, but no color changes when I picked him up like the last scare. Then I got the neon yellow color warning. Two of his feet were on the rigid side too. In the past, usually he would take some of those feet hairs and grab onto my finger with a few. No grabbing, no sign his body was warming up and he was waking a bit because of it. Assessment, probably dead, nothing I can do so ignore for now during the business day.

Mac and Cheese is a well known comfort food. Idk about frozen chicken tenders, but a lot of people would be just fine with that meal. I used to buy frozen pizza rolls for DD b/c she liked to have them for a quick snack or meal occasionally. The FB post that sent me recently was "I WILL NOT BE ADDRESSING YOU BY YOUR CHOSEN PRONOUNS. IF YOU LOOK LIKE A MAN, IT'S SIR. IF YOU LOOK LIKE A WOMAN, IT'S MA'AM. IT'S NOT MY JOB TO VALIDATE YOUR MENTAL ILLNESS." A guy from my graduating class responded " Thinking of people as anything less than human is a mental illness. I said "Yeah, I was thinking the whole thing looked passive aggressive and rude. Maybe the mental illness is on the part of the one that thinks they can address someone anyway they want AND get a response from them." I have thought about unfriending the individual a lot b/c she is a big MAGA person, but for now I just paused her posts for 30 days. The good news this am is the Republican attempt to grab power away from our Govenor via Referendum, failed by like 57%, and Kamala Harris is polling well in many swing states. We have flies in our house. I am pretty sure this is because my DH insists on leaving the slider open with the screen door closed. There is a several inch gap in the screen b/c somebody (me) walked in to the screen door about a year ago. So this am he told me he is pretty sure that the flies cam in with the last batch of Timothy Hay I bought for the rabbits. The rabbits are in the basement along with all their supplies. There are no flies in the basement. They are in the upstairs mostly in the living center area. I told him there are not flies in the basement, and the problem was he insists on leaving the slider open. He told me I was wrong. Our windows and doors are almond color. A white replacement screen is less than $100 at Home Depot. I should just buy one and install it. I wanted to replace the whole door, but not sure what to do about the rest of the windows either.

I've never paid more than $20 for my largest screens.

Now that I have a deck I have sliding door issues I hadn't anticipated. My psycho barn cat and my equally aggressive female house cat are having wars with one another and have shredded the screen door. I have put up a baby gate at the top of the stairs going off the deck now so she can't come up, but the screen is definitely going to have to be replaced. We also have another stray young cat hanging around in the barn. Praying that psycho leaves him/her alone. The last stray ended up costing me $1000 in vet bills and moved into our house after she tore him up.

I validated the "squeaky wheel" theory. I previously reported a non-working signal to the City and they closed the file, marking it corrected. Having personally determined on 2 separate occasions that the signal was still not working, I filed a second report. I suggested the investigating signal tech use the bathroom, get a large drink and an energy bar before sitting there waiting for the signal to work, and make sure someone else was going to get the kids from school because they were going to be there a very long time. Got an email this morning that indeed the signal doesn't function and that a work order has been submitted for repairs . Don't mess with an old woman with a keyboard and time on her hands.

Well I think my dog did actually go ahead and totally tear her ACL. Waiting for the vet to call me back. She is a naturally rambunctious dog, so I shouldn't be too surprised. But my heart is aching a little bit right now. hugs, Momma (Poppa? I'm not sure you've declared here, that I've seen...?) my 9yo dogs are 65 and 90lbs, and we've survived three ACL tear surgery/recovery cycles. all were the TPLO procedure. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about how you're going to be spending the following 10wks if you end up going the surgical route. Thanks chiver! I'm the momma! The vet did call me back this morning, referring me to a speciality clinic. This clinic is only open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. My vet said they will do a consultation visit first, but since it's a surgery clinic, they will of course recommend surgery. She thinks if I can keep Arwen still(er), that she may heal up some. She is only 9. I realize her other knee can go boom too. I guess we will go and see what they say.

This is what is next to what I shared a picture of. Mister paid almost $2k to have a lot of it cut down, but of course it just grew back. It is all along the back of our property and we hate it, but we don’t know how to make the property owner cut it back. The critters that visit our property, always come from that jungle. It wasn’t bad when we first bought the house. It was owned by the government at the time. Then it was sold, and the new owners do not cut and trim everything like it was done when it was government owned. Who knew the government was better with anything, vs a private citizen or company? But they were, because this shit didn’t get out of control while that land was owned by the government. A few years ago, somebody posted on the Nextdoor app that they had reported the tall grass on the far side of our back yard where it meets the other property, as being an eyesore, and posted a picture of it. I was not offended at all, because WE do not like how it looks either, never mind the critters that like it. The part on the side, where the grass or whatever, is taller than I am, is a low spot between the properties, that holds water. After the property was sold, Mister drove around the corner back there, to talk to the person that was mowing the grass, and he told Mister that he doesn’t cut that low spot because he is afraid his tractor might get stuck. Well, it got mowed when the government owned it, so WTF?! And it has all just gotten more out of control since then. The dilapidated fence in the pictures is not all the way across our back yard. Mister just uses it as a guide when he is doing whatever to try to keep the wilderness from encroaching onto our property. It is mostly a losing battle for him so far, because no matter how severely he cuts stuff back or uses herbicides to kill what’s on our property it just keeps coming. Do you guys have code enforcement in your city? My city takes code enforcement very seriously. In my little city, if you park on your grass cause your sons and visiting and you have no other place to park, and you happen to have an asshole as a neighbor, well you will get a nice official letter from the city saying hey stop that. Ask me how I know this stuff.

"Does she really need 3 meds for it to be in the range of normal?" Pink, since January 2024, I have taken 7 medications for my blood pressure/heart. I took 8 meds, for the first 3 months, after my heart attacks. Blood pressure Blood thinners As well as others (cholesterol). (my mind has gone blank) I'm not surprised that she takes three. I will probably need medication for my blood pressure, the rest of my life. You should ask her doctor. I am okay with her taking whatever meds her doctor says she needs. I was just questioning whether her PCP was sure she needs all the meds she is taking, or just refilling them without making sure she still actually needs them. Especially since the original diagnosis that said she needed some of them, around 20 years ago. I am not trying to pretend to be a Doctor, and I will defer to her Doctors. I do think though, that it is okay to ask questions, and I hope that if I am out of line with my questions, you or someone else here, will tell me so. I just think that whatever she was diagnosed with around 20 years ago, might need to be revisited to see what it is now, whether it is better or worse. Am I making any kind of sense with that? Does she get blood work done regularly? I get my meds refilled regularly too. I have to visit with my doc once/year and get blood work done, but doctors do not like to jack around with BP meds once they get you stabilized. If she has hypertension, she is ALWAYS going to need them. If she stops taking them, her BP will go high again. It’s a lifelong drug. It sucks, I get it……but I understand. My dad, grandmother (one side) grandfather (other side), aunt and sister all had/have hypertension. It doesn’t go away, but in very few cases. One of the drugs that FOR ME affects my BP is narcotics. My year of medical hell, I doubt I used my 90 day BP supply because my BP was normal when I took narcotics without BP meds. When I worked my way off of them, my BP (sadly) crept up too such that by the time I tapered off of narcotics, I was on my full dose of BP meds. The first time it happened, my thought process was that surgery must have done something to also cure my hypertension. Yeah…..it didn’t work that way. By the second surgery, I realized what was happening and figured out how it worked. Other drugs come and go…..I will always need my BP meds, thyroid meds and statin. I went on BP meds at 45, so 20 years now. I exercised like a fiend (which contributed to the destruction of my already compromised joints) to avoid it. Exercising bought me maybe 5 years, my BP still tipped over to high. I went on thyroid meds at 50, and statins around 55. My sister, who is 4 years younger is also on BP meds and thyroid meds. She decided she didn’t need them, so while we were on our world cruise, took herself off of them. She was sleeping 20 hours/day, I thought one of us was going to have to leave the cruise to drag her to the doctor. She ran out of meds, and thought that she really didn’t need them. It wasn’t until we threatened to leave the cruise that she got her ass to the doctor. At this point, her thyroid is STILL jacked up and she isn’t stabilized yet……I think she’s on her 4th new dosage? Luckily, her BP is.

It was crazy here too, but different. I lost the ability to connect to the internet for most of the day yesterday. Not sure when it flamed out. But this morning the Cloudflare server seems to be working. I loathe whatever scammer group is hitting my VOIP phone with alleged green energy informational calls. I've counted up to 10 calls in two days' time. Think I hung up on the county bus scheduling guy right at the end of their day thinking it was the energy scammers again. I finally looked at the voicemail that was left, so it was just a reminder I scheduled the trip. Have to schedule PT appointments. Maybe this morning, if not tomorrow. The only in network choice is out of the county near my old stomping grounds. Not sure if county medical transport will even consider that as it’s over a 10 mile trip and mayb half of it would be in the other county? We have a white list of calls that can come through on our VOIP phones. Everyone else gets immediately diverted to voicemail. It has made things much, much better. A pain to set up, but works beautifully.

A member of the USA women's rugby team lives a couple of blocks away and she's returning home today. She's getting a ride home through town on a fire truck. It's so cute how this town has just gone all in on our local Olympian. Since I'm her ward's council member I'll be joining the crowd greeting her at home.

I think we have finally won our pantry moth battle. It has been going on for a couple weeks, and every time we thought we had the source, another popped up a few days later.
The mega source was an UNOPENED bag of oatmeal. They got into anything that wasn’t sealed, and my best guess is that they were brought in from a grain purchased out of one of those bulk bins. My sister loves those, so everything (including spices) needs to go from bags to airtight containers now.

And apparently DS is thrilled I don't sit and complain about work for hours before/after. I used to work in a call center. When I left that job BD informed me that I was much more pleasant to be around. Hating your job is bad for the entire family. Glad you got out.

I may have missed it. Where are you going in FL, or are you going on a cruise?

I'm at the airport waiting in my flight eating an overpriced bagel. $11 for an everything bagel with cream cheese and a diet coke. What a rip off! I was gonna get a breakfast sandwich but that was $15 by itself. I know I'll get reimbursed but I'm too cheap to pay that.

I'm spending the weekend with some friends in Tampa. the wife has been my cabinmate a few times, as recently as a couple years back where she jumped in late with myself and K from Vancouver. I haven't seen the husband or son since before COVID, and I miss them all terribly.

Eff that. I work just as hard and as many hours as my DH, and my expectation is that we serve each other. ugh. I'd have let her have it, too. I'm generally not a very confrontational person, but lately I just don't have a filter anymore. how much of that has to do with no longer feeling the need to apologize for the space and air that I take up, idk. This is why I don't have social media. I would have dragged someone posting something like that. I have no filter and flat out DGAF.

Well, i definitely don’t want her to start messing with any of her meds on her own. She has an appointment for bloodwork next week. I will probably go with her to the follow up visit after the lab work is done.

I work just as hard and as many hours as my DH, and my expectation is that we serve each other. Like MPL said, my husband pretty much does all the cooking in our house. I saw a hack to get rid of flies was Pinesol. The original Pinesol, not the other scents. Try mopping the floor with that or cleaning the area around the window with it. Maybe the flies will go away. People swear by it.

I wanted to replace the whole door, but not sure what to do about the rest of the windows either. do you have a local hardware shop? all of the ones around me offer re-screening services. I've never paid more than $20 for my largest screens. It's not the screen, the door frame itself is bent...because I walked into it. The slider is in my dinette. there are 4 windows surrounding it. There are other screens. He just wants that one open. In other news, the House we made an offer on and then I got cold feet on, now shows as Pending. I am hopeful they got it for less than we offered. DH has already told me about 2 houses his customers are buying for less than what we offered for it. One of my major issues was that it was one of those houses that had a breezeway connecting a house an garage. Idk the Breezeway was truly weatherproof as it was not counted as part of the house square footage, but there was a huge opening from the kitchen to the Breezeway with no door on it. You would have to frame it in to add a door back as the opening was maybe 4 feet? The basement stairs were also open to the breezeway area. There was a slider to the backyard, and you could see that the wall around the door was rotted out. DH said they probably were not keeping the snow away from the door and that is what caused the drainage. He intended to reslope the landscaping away from the house. Here it is, I will delete the link later: www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/10670-S-Austin-St_Oak-Creek_WI_53154_M74809-96202?from=srp-list-card

That will likely be what I do in Charlotte if I have time during my layover. I've been so spoiled by nonstop flights lately that I loathe the idea of a layover.
