"Does she really need 3 meds for it to be in the range of normal?" Pink, since January 2024, I have taken 7 medications for my blood pressure/heart. I took 8 meds, for the first 3 months, after my heart attacks. Blood pressure Blood thinners As well as others (cholesterol). (my mind has gone blank) I'm not surprised that she takes three. I will probably need medication for my blood pressure, the rest of my life. You should ask her doctor. I am okay with her taking whatever meds her doctor says she needs. I was just questioning whether her PCP was sure she needs all the meds she is taking, or just refilling them without making sure she still actually needs them. Especially since the original diagnosis that said she needed some of them, around 20 years ago. I am not trying to pretend to be a Doctor, and I will defer to her Doctors. I do think though, that it is okay to ask questions, and I hope that if I am out of line with my questions, you or someone else here, will tell me so. I just think that whatever she was diagnosed with around 20 years ago, might need to be revisited to see what it is now, whether it is better or worse. Am I making any kind of sense with that?

Well I think my dog did actually go ahead and totally tear her ACL. Waiting for the vet to call me back. She is a naturally rambunctious dog, so I shouldn't be too surprised. But my heart is aching a little bit right now. hugs, Momma (Poppa? I'm not sure you've declared here, that I've seen...?) my 9yo dogs are 65 and 90lbs, and we've survived three ACL tear surgery/recovery cycles. all were the TPLO procedure. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about how you're going to be spending the following 10wks if you end up going the surgical route.

They were very thorough as far as going over her health conditions and medications. All of that information, we gave to the nurse first. Then the Doctor went through all of it again, and asked my Mom what every specific medicine she is taking, is for. I had asked my Mom years ago, if all the medicine she takes is really necessary. Today I learned that some of it is for diagnoses she received so long ago that she couldn’t even remember the names of the specialists that first prescribed it, and her memory is still very good. Some of it was first prescribed almost 20 years ago. What I’m saying is that her PCP just kept prescribing all that medicine, and never did anything to see if she still needed it. Like, does she even really need 3 meds for hypertension? She was first diagnosed with hypertension when she was in a lot of pain from some discs in her back. She had surgery to correct that almost 20 years ago. Today her blood pressure was something over 60 something. Does she really need 3 meds for it to be in the range of normal? I really hope that this Doctor works out with tending to my Mom’s needs. But if not, we will just find somebody else. I take 3 meds to be normal. It took a long time and a bunch of permutations to get me a consistent 120/70. I started out with one, and after 10 months of futzing around, getting a new prescription every month, I asked my dad what he was taking and suggested those. It worked. Now, it’s entirely possible that I could decrease to fewer meds, but the advantage is that mine are all older meds, and very cheap. Once they start combining meds, the price goes up. So from my perspective, until my meds stop working, I do not want to go through that craziness again. Granted, I was working during this process and able to get myself to the doctor and pharmacy, but it would be a pain….not just for me but for whomever I needed to help me. I guess I started questioning all the meds my Mom takes, after her pain Doctor switched her from Oxycodone to Morphine and it made her crazy. She was even more weird than her normal self and kept talking about death and dying, and I was so alarmed that I told her to stop taking the morphine because that was the only thing that had changed, and call her Doctor for an appointment. She got an appointment the next day or 2, and we took the morphine pills that she hadn’t taken with us, to give to the doctor to dispose of them properly. She even knew she wasn’t “right”, and when I told her to stop taking it and call her Doctor because I thought it was the morphine making her crazy, she didn’t want anything else to do with it, so much so that she gave me the bottle of pills to keep until I got her to her appointment. He explained the probable reason that the morphine made her crazy (my words), because she was an older adult and it was probably building up in her system instead of being flushed out like it should be. Anyway, even though I question whether she really needs all of the meds she is taking (like I said, she takes at least a couple dozen meds/day,) if a Doctor really goes through her medical history and issues and determines that she does need all of those meds, the. ok. I am just saying that I’d like for a Doctor to treat her where she is NOW, vs just continuing to refill meds that she was prescribed 20 years ago. Maybe I’m wrong for thinking like that, but that’s how I think.

I should point out - this 72yo man that still actively works hanging sheetrock. at least he's been consistent in dropping back to just 3 days a week. but still....whoo..... I won't even get into my mother messing with her BP meds b/c her doctor won't acknowledge that she has White Coat Syndrome and thinks she has astronomical BP. that's a post for another day. I'm hoping that with the new PCP, you all can discuss everything she's currently taking and whether it all still needs to be involved. or, if there are other options. but please don't feel badly about thinking that or asking the questions from that feeling. you're not wrong in wanting to make sure things are right.

This is what is next to what I shared a picture of. Mister paid almost $2k to have a lot of it cut down, but of course it just grew back. It is all along the back of our property and we hate it, but we don’t know how to make the property owner cut it back. The critters that visit our property, always come from that jungle. It wasn’t bad when we first bought the house. It was owned by the government at the time. Then it was sold, and the new owners do not cut and trim everything like it was done when it was government owned. Who knew the government was better with anything, vs a private citizen or company? But they were, because this shit didn’t get out of control while that land was owned by the government. A few years ago, somebody posted on the Nextdoor app that they had reported the tall grass on the far side of our back yard where it meets the other property, as being an eyesore, and posted a picture of it. I was not offended at all, because WE do not like how it looks either, never mind the critters that like it. The part on the side, where the grass or whatever, is taller than I am, is a low spot between the properties, that holds water. After the property was sold, Mister drove around the corner back there, to talk to the person that was mowing the grass, and he told Mister that he doesn’t cut that low spot because he is afraid his tractor might get stuck. Well, it got mowed when the government owned it, so WTF?! And it has all just gotten more out of control since then. The dilapidated fence in the pictures is not all the way across our back yard. Mister just uses it as a guide when he is doing whatever to try to keep the wilderness from encroaching onto our property. It is mostly a losing battle for him so far, because no matter how severely he cuts stuff back or uses herbicides to kill what’s on our property it just keeps coming. I don't know anything about the regulatory powers where you live. It sounds as if you are not in an HOA-controlled neighborhood so that avenue of action is probably not available to you. Next up, are you in an incorporated city with a code enforcement/neighborhood protection type division that deals with property issues? It doesn't sound like it, so perhaps you live in an unincorporated county area and maybe they have some sort of enforcement authority like code enforcement/neighborhood protection/health nuisance etc. If none of the above applies, you may be in a situation where you have to file suit against the property owner. When someone posted a picture of the tall grass in your yard and claimed they reported it, did they say what regulatory authority they reported it to? That same authority would probably be your go-to on this issue. I'm sorry you have to live with this mess. We have a neighborhood association, which is different from an HOA. When the land was first sold, I was in contact with the president of the neighborhood association, and even he was having issues trying to track down who had bought that land. There was a company name listed on property records as the new owner, but there was nothing else online about the company or who owned it. When Mister drove around to talk to the guy that was cutting the grass, the guy said that the owner flies him in to cut the grass, and gave Mister the owner’s name and phone number. Which Mister gave me, and I passed on to the President of the neighborhood association. I live in a suburb that the city has annexed, so we aren’t our own entity like the surrounding suburbs. Other suburbs have their own mayors, police and court systems. I know we are subject to the city’s code enforcement, because that’s who kept coming to the T’s house when the neighbors behind him kept calling them. It seems like we are in some kind of gray area, not part of the city, but reliant on city services in some ways. A few months ago, a lady was walking our neighborhood, she worked for the city and was tasked with making people in our neighborhood aware of the requirements for trash to be picked up. Since she worked for the city, I asked her about the jungle around our property lines and showed it to her (which was just walking with her to the end of our driveway) and she said I could call the city and report it, but honestly, they probably wouldn’t do anything about it. So all of that junk is slowly taking over our property because Mister tries, but he can’t keep up with how fast it grows and takes over. Even when he uses herbicides to kill everything along our property line (which I am okay with), it still comes back and keeps growing onto our property.

I have posted about my brother being a mess. Several years ago, he asked my Mom why she preferred to pop pills instead of doing what she could to be healthier. Given my brother’s struggles and issues, and what my Mom had going on at the time, that was a pretty powerful question, that my Mom didn’t have a good answer for. When my Mom first came to stay with me in 2018 (which was supposed to be temporary) I turned myself inside out, trying to provide healthy meals to try to help her lose weight so she could get a hip replacement, and spending $700/$800 per month on groceries trying to do it. And that was before the pandemic, when prices skyrocketed. And cooking every damn day, which I hadn’t done since my children got old enough to use a microwave or cook simple things themselves. I almost got started on a tangent because I get so upset about that, but I caught myself and just want to say that I hope too, that her new PCP makes sure that my Mom is not taking unnecessary meds.

Pink, the best thing I've found to kill weeds and other unwanted plants is vinegar 30%. Not the kind you use for food. This stuff is more concentrated. So far, it kills every vegetation it comes in contact with and it hasn't regrown. I bought it from Amazon.

Pink Cashmere there’s a Oak Tree here but can’t comment since never been and none of my friends have either that I know of. Think they are owned by CVS. I’m pulling that off the top of my head without going to google first. But regardless glad your mom and you have found a place you like and feel good about. Health care seems to be one big crap shoot these days! Are you saying there is an oak tree in the picture I posted? I know it’s hard to tell what’s what in the picture, but in the picture, there is a lot of junk growing on my property line, and some more trees far away. Idk how to edit the picture to show what’s what lol. I meant Oak Street. Color me OLD. Was about your visit with Mom’s new doc. And I swear I haven’t been smoking or drinking. Oh, and I’m sure CVS doesn’t own oak trees!

Mister was weird about me leaving my car in the driveway and he didn’t want to put it in the garage himself.
Okayyyyy SIR! I am telling you that my judgement is not the best right now, since it’s after 5:00 somewhere in the world, but if you want me to back my car into the tiny garage, OKAY. Just don’t get mad if I run into the house or something.
I did not run over anything, or into the house, and my car is tucked in, in her spot in the garage.

Got some thing done today. The other Xfinity box returned. Got hubs documentation to the bank, and got to SS and my deposit and address changed and DD's rep payee letter so we can open her an account. It all went smoothly so far.
Tomorrow open her bank account and and transfer her deposit to it, Next is working on getting her Medicaid up here and changing my coverage. Hubs insurance is ok, mine and hers is not.

Someone else mentioned passion fruit. That would be my guess. Passion flower vine is a food source for swallowtail butterflies! Passion fruit seems to be the consensus. It’s too bad that what I’ve read says it doesn’t taste good. Passion fruit is like kiwi

I seriously think I'm going to have to take Friday off to clean my room so my parents can use it. By the time I get home, do chores and make dinner I'm done. Tomorrow will be another late night getting home due to back to school meeting.
Oh well, That's what its there for.

For me flavor is similar to kiwi. Also love mango and guava But passion fruit (Lillikoi in Hawaii) is different in texture. More liquid I love them! When I go to Hawaii love lillikoi cake, ice cream etc or just the fruit ( warning some people think inside looks like vomit)

I'm gonna have to think on this one more, but I'll def come back to talk about it. my music cruise friends are longtime "more than acquaintances" for even those that I rarely interact with. but, we all have a regional chat about land shows and stuff, and random chatter. anywhoo.... there was a tangent awhile back about all of these fruity flavors, and some people had some really visceral reactions to some. it seemed to follow citrus vs tropical, and I landed on the citrus side. so I'm confused by you pairing kiwi with the tropicals. in our chat, nobody liked kiwi except me.

Could it be a pawpaw tree? I can't tell, we have them at my house and I had to ask to find out. They taste really good but don't last long and the animals really like them.
I got a lot more boxes emptied, the majority of the stuff is going in the garage sale next week. I just picked out here and there what I wanted to keep. I have a few things I'm thinking about keeping. May get rid of some Tupperware to keep some cornflower blue items. I haven't decided yet very hard for me to do.
I started pulling out decorator glassware am washing some of it. Tomorrow have to go and clean up the other house. I don't want to, but I need to, the fridge needs cleaned for sure and I need to vacuum too.
Hubs dug out 2 rhododendron and we hope to keep the root balls for DIL, she wants them. They had to be removed for the AC unit on the heat pump. I wish I had time to paint, do yard work, and all kinds of stuff, but right now, its make the place livable and get paperwork in place.
The realtor really thinks the people moving from Arizona will buy our house, she said they ask more and more questions. I said well getting a loan could be a problem, she said believe me they won't have to get a loan. My guess he is coming in with the solar or new power plant build, so we are crossing our fingers. She said it might be awhile, but that's ok. Just hope we can sell the one up here, that will help us a lot. I'm getting nervous, both realtors said things right now are really slow, but they both expect it to pick up again, lets hope so. Apparently they too have a house to sell out there so likely a lot more than our house costs.
Thursday is the day the roofers give an estimate, crossing our fingers. It's the same union shop that is doing our furnace, I hope they are just as reasonable in price and rebates.

Good morning, inquisitive but non-judgmental invisipeeps, keeping your medications in order, your lawns trimmed and your boats afloat. Welcome to Wednesday. This week keeps flying by. I hope your day goes smoothly and easily and ends with enjoying any beverage in which you do imbibe. I slept until after 4 this morning. Still tired from the show in Mystic, and readying for this weekend. I left Franklin the Dog's small bed and grain bowl at DSis's when we picked him up. Don't know when we'll have time to retrieve them. He's going to be at ODB's this weekend. We'd drop him off on the way to the north shore but it's not possible with the car loaded with All.The.Things for the show, so will have to double back and make another trip. Yesterday was a day of rest and ice cream. The sun came up without bidding:

I am up and working on the coffee. Yesterday was bumpy. And only day 2. I'm not good at giving myself grace. As if you all didn't know that.
It is still a relief. I don't currently have students on tuesdays. At the end of the day, I was able to make my lunches for the rest of the week, do a load of laundry, and hang with the kids a bit.
It was pretty amazing that I didn't feel compelled to work a 12 hour day.

I hate everyone today. last night was my crazy neighbor, pacing at the top of my driveway in the road while LD howled. then, she lit up the backyard overnight. I may have yelled out the window that she didn't need to advertise that she was home alone. and then now, I just went out to bring in the roller barrel I forgot to grab after trash pickup, and I waved "slow down" to the driver of a car that came flying around the curve. the car went past my house and stopped in the road, flipping me off in the rearview and shouting something out the window at me.
I can't wait to go to FL for my birthday and just get away from here for awhile.

It was crazy here too, but different. I lost the ability to connect to the internet for most of the day yesterday. Not sure when it flamed out. But this morning the Cloudflare server seems to be working. I loathe whatever scammer group is hitting my VOIP phone with alleged green energy informational calls. I've counted up to 10 calls in two days' time. Think I hung up on the county bus scheduling guy right at the end of their day thinking it was the energy scammers again. I finally looked at the voicemail that was left, so it was just a reminder I scheduled the trip. Have to schedule PT appointments. Maybe this morning, if not tomorrow. The only in network choice is out of the county near my old stomping grounds. Not sure if county medical transport will even consider that as its over a 10 mile trip and mayb half of it would be in the other county?

Oh and I think Crestie is dead for real this time unless lizards can go Catatonic like people sometimes do. It is very hard dealing with a lizard without eyelids, no real clue with alive or dead on that alone. I'm going to ignore that issue until after groceries and after late lunch. Not sure what I want to do with the body. I would bury him except I do not have the tools to put his body deep enough, so he would probably become food for the feral cats or similar critters on the property. He wouldn't have died of a known disease, just dehydration and lack of mineral reserves in his head, so it's not necessary to bag him and throw him in the garbage ... which I hate to do but have done since I have been here.
ETA - I tried to go to bed at a reasonable hour as I will be out for hours today and won't be able to do other stuff unless its off hours online etc. I ended up taking my bath anyway like 3AM or something. It did chill me out, so I did rest, but not sure about actual sleep and REM.

I had seen a post in the early morning on FB, a random thing as it is not a page I follow, of box mac and cheese, frozen chicken tenders and Hawaiian rolls on a styrofoam plate with the caption "some man worked 12 hours and came home to this". I hid it from my feed because it rubbed me the wrong way. Anyway, a cousin reposted it with with a yucky face. I let her have it. It is 2024. Why are women still judging other women? Why doesn't it say "some woman worked 12 hours and came home to this"? Or better yet, "someone". It obviously was not the healthiest option, but at least they would not have to go to bed hungry. This cousin is one who follows the part of her religion that says the husband is the spiritual leader of the home and she serves him. Eff that. I work just as hard and as many hours as my DH, and my expectation is that we serve each other.

I'm generally not a very confrontational person, but lately I just don't have a filter anymore. how much of that has to do with no longer feeling the need to apologize for the space and air that I take up, idk.

I work just as hard and as many hours as my DH, and my expectation is that we serve each other. And couldn't it have been someone who worked 12 hours and was only up to making this for dinner? I hate the man head of household by default crap. Partnership is a better model and dividing stuff based on actual talents preferences seems superior to me than selecting only on visible biological sex characteristics. Whoever created the meme should have to eat the frozen chicken tenders, etc. (No heating up or cooking them) ETA - Its construction season yet again by me so the amount of single serve stuff for lunch (or dinner) is amazing if pricey. Bought a single serve package of pickles last week and used it over several meals to flavor a sandwich, tuna salad, etc. Think they were like bread and butter pickles but flavored with horseradish? Don't remember. In the past construction season brings single serve packets of fun nut butters, etc. so it's a great way to sample some stuff that is pricey without needing to buy an entire jar or normal sized package.

Oh and I think Crestie is dead for real this time unless lizards can go Catatonic like people sometimes do. It is very hard dealing with a lizard without eyelids, no real clue with alive or dead on that alone. Sorry, totally did not mean to laugh at this, but it brought up images of you trying to do all kinds of "is Crestie alive" tests. My dad would call that the perfect pet. Hopefully, you can find a way to suitably bury him, if that's what you would like to do (and if he is indeed dead!)
