Pink, I get it. And I also know why you might be reluctant to call the police at night. The meet up he went to re his Mustang, has that happened? Did he enjoy it?
I'm asking because years ago I belonged to a BMW car club that had meetings in various places, and once they had a speaker from the police who worked primarily on the Interstate. We were allowed to ask Qs after his presentation. It would be informative if there was something like that near you where you could get some info on how car thieves tend to operate in your area.

I found a parlor that also does children's ear piercing. If Abby really wants to try again I'm going to take her there to make sure it's done properly this time. She's clearly allergic to nickel even more so than I am so Claire's is out this time. The parlor uses medical grade titanium. Gwen has currently changed her mind about her nose/belly button but since she now has a drivers permit if she wanted I can sign off. DH isn't thrilled but I told him given what other kids her age are getting into in this city if her act of rebellion is a nose piercing let her have it. I'd much much rather that than half the shit she's gossiped to me about concerning school. When you say parlor, you mean a tattoo parlor? My DD used to tell me all the time she was going to get her nose pierced. And maybe her belly button. She had some issues with her original ear piercings from Claires. When she was in HS she went to the tattoo parlor and got if I remember correctly the Daith and Industrial piercings. She got her belly button pierced, but I think she was 18. The Tattoo Parlors are subject to more inspections/Licensing so I would trust them more. Some things I knew DH would not like, and I was not sure if she would regret later, so I just kept telling her she could do anything she wanted once she was 18. I don’t remember if it was a tattoo or a piercing DD wanted in HS, but DD never followed through and got it. I took mom to church yesterday. She was coughing a bit, so when we got back to the AL facility I mentioned to them she was coughing. They came right away with a test and said it was + for Covid. She will be quarantined for 10 days. I tested myself and I was not +. I had covid in July, almost exactly a month ago. Pink, you can wrap the key fob to the mustang in aluminum foil so they cannot duplicate the signal. My RAV4 Prime has an electronic admission, so I toss my keys in a faraday box when coming in & out of the house. You can look in the manual how to temporarily disable the spare key-it helps save the battery. DH ‘s 2016 Mustang dosn’t have the kind of keyless signal that can be duplicated, so it is just my car. We like the box. At least you know where to find the keys. We have the keys to the Mustang and the Santa Fe in the box too, as it is just a convenient place to keep them.

I haven't done a damn thing all day, have been lazy and watching Olympics coverage so far. today's national Lazy Day, according to what I'm seeing on FB, so I'll roll with that haha. I'll get moving once the coverage switches to basketball. I'm not terribly invested in that to sit and watch the whole thing, and rather annoyed with the coach of the US team - he's healthy scratched the best player on the NBA Championship-winning Celtics not once, but twice. what's this guy's effing problem? oh right, he's the Golden State Warriors coach and he's organizing his team of Western Conference All-Stars. I cannot wait to see what Jayson Tatum does to the rest of the NBA next season. Who did you want Tatum playing ahead of? LeBron, KD, or Steff? And when he did play he didn't do all that much to help them. Tatum should be like Tyrese Haliburton, another really good young player who barely played at all. Posted a selfie of himself smiling and holding his gold medal: Derrick White got some good minutes most games. Doesn't he count? and he didn't play at all yesterday. was that to get Tatum in the game? 🤨 I read an article before the gold medal game that highlighted the players with the least amount of playing time were all Eastern Conference players. if I can find it again, I'll link here. as far as not doing much with the time he did get, it's hard to do much when you're not in rhythm with the favorites because you don't get the chance to build that team chemistry.

Staying at DS house on our vacation return trip. DS is not here he left vacation later. Court officer knocked on door at 8am with s subpoena for him 😮. He has to testify a lot on house and property values for his job, and gets paid well to do so. Probably about that.
Vacation was pretty good. Weather was nice after tropical storm Debby passed, but seems like the lobster moved up north to Miami and Ft Lauderdale area. Our normal haul for the lat 20 years is 90-300 on 3 boats. This year we got 17.
Great to spend time with 2 of my granddaughters and other family.

No need. It's not relevant. Here's a question for you though: How many minutes did the Celtics' bench players get in the NBA Finals? I looked it up. Four starters averaged between 37 and 40 minutes per game, while another averaged 30. The top three off the bench totaled the same number of minutes that Tatum played in the series, while the other seven barely played at all, and most of those minutes came in the game they got blown out. Basketball is like that. I played for a long time, I know. It is very difficult to have a lot of players in the rotation. Add to that the fact that the Olympics are 40 minutes instead of the NBA's 48. Kerr did well to play ten players per game. Twelve would only have been realistically possible if every game was a blowout. Tatum was actually seventh on the team in minutes played in the gold medal game. Three others played around the same amount of time, while two did not play at all. But again, whose time should he have taken? It's okay to be a homer, but be realistic!

Because he was not going to do more to help the team win than LeBron James or Kevin Durant. Those are the guys he was competing with for playing time. Even though the game has become more "positionless" than it was decades ago, he was not competing for playing time against the "bigs" or the ball-handlers. Disregard the following players: Embiid, Davis, Adebayo, Curry, Booker, Holiday, and Edwards. Who's left? White (who played seven minutes) and Haliburton (who didn't play at all), James, Durant, and Tatum. If you are arguing that Tatum should have played ahead of James or Durant you need to stop before you embarrass yourself further.

So I can have the house if I want it. I'm hesitating though. It's a very nice house at a good price. The payment isn't much more than my current rent. I think I'm just gun shy about signing on for so much debt.
ETA: I rolled the dice and low balled it since it has been on the market so long. It worked.

Watching the dogs play waiting for Charlotte to realize she could squash Wilbur like a bug.
She pulls on his legs like he's a little chicken. His whole leg fits in her mouth.

I noticed there was an interior bathroom, which is a pretty secure place to camp out in if tornadoes are coming through. I have a large walk-in closet where the dog and I can spend a few hours if need be. A bathroom is better, near running water, etc. Sounds like you got it at a good price. Don't look at the total of payments over 30 years. When interest rates come down, you can refinance. You are getting an inspection, I hope.

I thought once an offer was accepted in writing, it was now a contract. And the buyer has to do what they agreed to do. I am guessing the offer was contingent on financing. You are not enjoying where you currently live. Just questions. It's not my decision but I will say I like the house. Definitely needs some updating, but it doesn't have to be done all at once.

The total payments over 30 years freak me out every time.
I do think interest rates will come down and you can refinance. That would lower the payment. The rate is high at the moment and has been for a while.
What has surprised me is that houses are still selling.

They won because they tightened up the 4th-quarter defense and Curry hit several huge shots. Again, where should Tatum have been? Somebody made a point that when Mike Krzyzewski coached the Olympic team he made every player vow to accept whatever role they were given, because the only goal was winning. If Tatum is actually as upset about his time as your writers are undoubtedly suggesting, I have to ask: Would Tatum have even been selected for those teams, and should he have been with that attitude? I am reminded also of the scene in the movie Miracle about the US hockey team that upset the Russians. (Don't know whether it is apocryphal or not, but I have no reason to doubt it is true.) Early on in practice, Coach Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell) was making them skate for what seemed like forever. He would stop them and ask, "What's your name, and who do you play for?" Somebody would say, "I play for the University of whatever." Coach would blow the whistle and make them skate. Asked again and again, and same thing happened. Assistant was almost begging Coach to end practice. Rink personnel were turning out the lights. Eventually, one player answered, "I play for the United States of America." Coach nodded, and dismissed practice. That's what this is about. Tatum can sign his $300 million contract. Boston fans can be "outraged" that he isn't playing as much as they want to see. If he is truly upset about it himself, he should not have been on the team at all. It's not about his ego, and fans and writers do him no good service to complain about it.

I've lived her my whole life and never seen one. I can always make friends with a neighbor and use theirs in a pinch. It needs work to be more what I want, but I can just go room by room as I have the money. Once my car is paid off I can stack a bunch of cash. Once I have the house done, I can either stay in it or sell it at put a larger down payment on a new house. ETA: I am getting an inspection and appraisal.

Pink Cashmere I hope things are better this morning. I've never heard of duplicating key fobs and I can't imagine how you can protect against that? The old school steering wheel locks always seemed like a way to ward of crimes of opportunity, not intent. One of my dogs may not be distrustful of an intruder but would still be interested in them and the other loses her damn mind even when people come over. It drives me nuts but I like it too for the alarm. I'm rambling now when I just want to say I hope things are ok and would love to hear that that they found an electrical short that can cause the lights to turn on and off - (I'm not sure if that is even a thing)

I'm probably in the minority as far as my opinion goes, but I honestly don't think you are "gun shy" because of the debt. FWIW, I truly think that you know deep down (gut feeling) that this house is not what you really want in a "forever home" and you only made an offer because you are feeling somewhat pressured to get out of where you live now. If it were me, I'd back away and keep looking. The perfect house for YOU is out there.

Just to finish up.... I never said he complained, I twice said, "If...." And I have no need to read the links. They are homers trying to get locals to read their stuff, and the easiest way to do that is to make people emotional. What I was saying is that people complaining are on the wrong side of this, and they should let Tatum handle it rather than trying to incite something.

We were up and at 'em this morning so after our fav breakfast of smashed avocado toast with smoked salmon and egg, I cleaned floors and DH vacuumed. Assorted little stuff like cleaning out the canola oil sprayer and decanting shampoo. One more room to mop after DH relocates his posterior to the TV room. Will make out the weekly menus this afternoon. Finally got email response to the financial questions I raised in June - textbook case of too little, too late.

School starts tomorrow in my area and it's going to be interesting. The state took over the local district so more than 2000 principals have quit or were fired, there are more than 600 uncertified teachers, they cut bus routes way back so many kids have to walk 3 miles to get the bus, and some schools are still covered in hurricane debris because the district let most of the maintenance staff go too. The City and County have stepped in, along with teams of volunteer parents, to cut grass and remove fallen trees but it's not pretty at many campuses.
And in other news, the mayor and new police chief want to hire younger officers but that requires action by the state legislature to allow law enforcement personnel under the age of 21 to carry a weapon. What could possibly go wrong with an 18 or 19-year-old rookie having tactical weapons?

I'm making some deviled eggs to go with dinner tomorrow. I doubled what I think we will eat because I suspect many of them will disappear today.

So I can have the house if I want it. I'm hesitating though. It's a very nice house at a good price. The payment isn't much more than my current rent. I think I'm just gun shy about signing on for so much debt.
ETA: I rolled the dice and low balled it since it has been on the market so long. It worked. Sometimes the right time is much later than you would hope. Which includes buying homes, cars, and finding your partner.

One option is to buy it with the intent to sell it and get something else when the interest rates drop. I think they will drop but I don't know when. When the interest rates drop enough, housing prices will likely rise. Or we might have a nice housing market crash in areas that prices are too high against historic norms. IDK. You might want to ask your realtor what they think the fair market price should have been on this house and why. An inspection and a good inspector can give a clue as to whether its the age of the home or other factors that had the house on the market for awhile.

The total payments over 30 years freak me out every time. I do think interest rates will come down and you can refinance. That would lower the payment. The rate is high at the moment and has been for a while. What has surprised me is that houses are still selling. It's definitely getting refinanced once the rates come down.

Tatum hasn't complained. read the links. he's quoted in there a number of times, saying he was challenged but remained professional throughout. it's everyone else looking at the situation, including Bob Cousy. is he just another armchair QB here? anyway, I'm all set with this. we can agree to disagree. Do you two, or anyone else for that matter, ever have that moment where a smell or a sound all of a sudden transports you back to your childhood? This little squabble did that for me. As a life long "I don't watch sports u less you make me*" person this took me back to all those sometimes heated discussions about football (soccer to you) in my childhood home. It seems like very week my father and siblings and whoever else would have squabbles like this. It felt like a total waste of time to me. I did not even know I would or ever did miss these discussions but I obviously did. So whatever your personal outcome of this discussion is thank you both for having it here and taking me back 60+ years in time. *exception were any games my kids ever played in -> I was there front and center. And I do enjoy watching women gymnastics and figure skating. But that is it. Thanks to the lousy coverage of the paralympics in Atlanta and Sydney I did not even bave to sit through seeing my Dsis1medal in wheelchair table tennis

I'm rambling now when I just want to say I hope things are ok and would love to hear that that they found an electrical short that can cause the lights to turn on and off - (I'm not sure if that is even a thing) Yes, they can duplicate your car fob from outside your house. There is something. Allen a faraday box or something you can put your keys in at night to avoid that. I still don’t know why the lights on OD’s car came on like that, but it sure scared me!

What could possibly go wrong with an 18 or 19-year-old rookie having tactical weapons? School also starting here; because of that, we are waiting to go to Costco until tomorrow. We are low on teachers, bus drivers, and admin support in some counties here, too. Not dire level, but the county is having issues getting their hiring vs. budget together and getting everyone on board on time.
I am getting a lot of fluids, thanks to a long trail run this morning. Lots of shade, but really humid. The trees, grass areas, canal levels, and lakes etc. do look good out there, thanks to the final arrival of the rainy season. Finished vacuuming and will allow the dishwasher to cool to empty it.
