Are we talking about board breaking? The peanut can break like 2-3 boards at once. Break dancing. That the peanut does not do.

We are doing lamb on the grill tonight so am making up a fresh batch of toum. So far, I have cleaned up 2 heads of garlic and still do not have enough cloves. Menu is grilled lamb, pita with toum, rice pilaf and grilled asparagus. You had me at lamb and double that for everything else.

That the peanut does not do. It's a coastal thing. Started in the Bronx in NY in the 70s. I grew up with it and west coast started their own flavor. Neither is better than the other just different. Ya'll didn't have break dancers dancing on cardboard on concrete? Did you never see "Breakin" the movie?

House is clean. Went to Sam's and came back. Need to figure out what I'm going to feed myself for dinner. There is tons of food in this house but I don't want to cook anything. I went to KFC yesterday, so fast food is out. I try not to eat it at all.

I tried to watch that this morning, I lasted one qualifying "battle" before flipping to something else. one of my cousins was live posting on FB during the finals. her kid is one of the current lineup of Jabbawockeez, if that means anything to any of you. I had meant to ask her why A hadn't tried to go for the Olympics, but we haven't chatted in awhile.

well, I did something productive today during the basketball game - I dismantled the stove and deep cleaned (except the oven) it and the microwave above it. it's been a minute since I've done that, and it was way overdue. the dishwasher is still running with the stovetop grates and knobs in it. I'll put it all back together tomorrow. I think dinner tonight is going to be some reheated dirty rice if I get hungry later on. andi, I definitely feel you on avoiding fast food. the last time I did that was some Chipotle and after being shocked by the price tag, I had the displeasure of feeling mildly queasy the rest of the night. it's going to be awhile before I go back.

Waiting for the second half of the roller derby double-header to start. My high school best friend is visiting me. She's thrilled. I do wish I could be on skates again but probably not a good idea, unfortunately.

And yes, I have been following the Jabbawockeez for years - since they appeared on America's Next Dance Crew on MTV. Saw them live with NKOTB in 2009 and have the shirt to prove it (free tickets won on the radio). ❤️

It's been a very intense and bizarre day on the community front beginning with a 2:30 a.m. email, sliding through a 59-minute phone call, and ending with an equally bizarre email just now. My phone is off, my pj's are going on, and I'm going to doze off to whatever DH has on the tv. Tomorrow is the usual cleaning and menu planning and Monday night is a board meeting, oh joy.

I missed Houston and the diversity down there, from the food to the people. Today felt good, I went into Starbucks, there was a lady in a wheelchair young people, people of every color and race, all enjoying life together, old people. To me this is what America is about and this is what a lot of middle America cannot understand. I bet there were all kinds of religions represented or none at all. And to me this is as it should be. I don't want the kind of America one of our candidates is trying to push on us, I want the America I saw represented today. And I once again feel like I'm a part of it. Strange, but I never felt like I belonged where I grew up. I even had people tell me growing up, I did not fit in with people there. I'm sure glad I never did. I think I will be very happy here. I'm glad you have landed in a place that better aligns with your values. I do remember you saying that the community you bought into was solidly white and all retired Marines. I suspect that, like much of America, our armed forces weren't very diverse and inclusive back in that period. And I'm also happy, if somewhat surprised, to hear you are settling into your new home. Your initial reports said the rooms were too small for your furniture, the closets too small for your clothes, and the overall layout was bad. As someone with a small home who has to maximize every inch of closet space, I solidly recommend the Elfa storage systems from the Container Store - installation is a breeze and you can totally customize stuff to fit your needs. Also, both Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel have collections of smaller-scale furniture and excellent quality. The Elfa stuff from The Container Store is what I bought to organize my garage here. Once you understand how it works, it really is very easy to put together and customize according to your specific needs. I bought a “kit” at first. I think it cost around $800 at the time. Then I added a couple of other things. I do not regret the purchase. Even after understanding how it all works, I still feel like the “kit” was a good choice, instead of piecing it all together myself. If I ever get around to organizing the garage even more, or the storage room, I would check that out first.

I had typed a whole post about my adventures this evening with Mister and his Mustang. Just before I hit the button to post it, he got a call that sounded like n emergency with his daughters.
When I came back, the post I’d written was lost.
So anyway, the girls’ Mom fell and hit her head or something like that, and is awake, but doesn’t know where she is or what happened. Idk if the girls called an ambulance or YD is taking her to a hospital. Mister left the house telling me that he is going to get YD

I just hit post on what I was already typing, because as I was typing, I was sitting in the garage with the door up, and OD’s car that is in our driveway, the lights came on as if somebody had hit the button on the key fob to unlock it.
I immediately went and let the garage door down and called Mister. OD didn’t leave the keys to her car here, and she is nowhere near our house, so WTF, why did the lights on her car just come on?
I am very nervous, and honestly, kind of scared. I have turned all of the tvs and lights off inside the house, because I figure I know my house in the dark, better than any intruder. The dogs are loose in the house, but I don’t have a whole lot of confidence in them raising the alarm is something is amiss, like an intruder.
I am seriously unnerved and feel like I want to cry. My stomach is hurting and I feel like I might throw up at any minute.
It was not my imagination that the lights came on on OD’s car, and I can’t think of a good reason for that to have happened u less somebody is around and up to no good.

I just went and looked at our cameras, they have not recorded anything for the last couple of hours. Not even when Mister and I got back home.
They didn’t record anything the times that people were messing with the T’s cars, even though we get constant alerts from several cameras when the wind is blowing and trees and shrubs are moving because of the wind.
My nerves are really really bad right now and there may or may not be tears running down my face. Please God, PLEASE let these dogs give me a warning if I need one.

I think I set a record today for baking.
4 loaves of quick bread (two zucchini, one pumpkin, one cinnamon), a dozen pumpkin muffins (to test the recipe), and mac and cheese. Well the mac was half cooking, half baking.
I've got treats for my first day, goodies for tomorrow, and there's enough left over to get ahead a little bit for the start of school. I'd like to get in some more next weekend.
I know it sounds nuts, and I also will have to be up at 6 and out the door at 7 a few days a week now. We're also back to zone defense with the kids: there's only going to be one parent around. So baking stuff for breakfast will really help in the morning.
tomorrow I'm making dinner and we'll have some left overs for Monday lunch. DH is going to make breakfast burritos so that will help. Tuesday I'll need to make my lunches for the rest of the week.
My kitchen is trashed. DD1 spent a good bit of time cleaning it earlier today.

I’m sorry, I hope it’s nothing to be worried about. I don’t recall what type of car OD has, but is it new enough to have an app that she can control on her phone? Mine has an app that I can remotely track its location, start it, lock and unlock it, and sound a panic alarm. I’ve unlocked/locked it via my phone remotely at work before when I took something to work for someone else to grab out of my vehicle later or wasn’t certain if I remembered to lock it after I got out.

Sounds very scary, but if they were after the car, it’s OD's not yours. Let them get the car and stay safe in the house. Keep the dogs with you. Where is Mister? I would never try to keep somebody from stealing a car, as angry as that might make me…. my life and well being is more important than any vehicle. I wrote here that I was nervous about Mister buying his Mustang after all the shit that happened with thieves being relentless about trying to steal the T’s vehicles, to the point that they shot at Mr. T one of the times they were trying to steal Mrs. T’s vehicle. The way they kept trying to steal the T’s vehicles was by duplicating their keyfobs to unlock and start the vehicles. That is apparently not difficult to do with the right kind of tools and knowledge. OD’s car is also “push to start”, and my concerns about thieves being after Mister’s new Mustang, are why I freaked out when the lights on OD’s car came on this evening. In my mind, maybe it is an imprecise art to target the exact vehicle that a thief wants, when there are other vehicles in the immediate area that use the same kind of technology. I’m not a thief, so idk. I just know that there was no legit reason for the lights on OD’s vehicle to come on as if it was being unlocked. I am kind of crazy sometimes, and I’m kind of crazy right now, but I would never make up a story about something like that. The dogs are quiet and unbothered. But my nerves are bad enough that I’m not going to even take a shower and go to bed until Mister comes home. Mister ordered food to be delivered right before he left the house. He texted me when he got the text that the driver was at our house. Boy went to the door with me when I went to get the food, and he was obedient when I gave him commands so he didn’t act a fool or run out the door while I was getting the food from the driver. Idk what is really going on with the girls’ Mom, but I hope she is or will be okay. My nerves have settled a little, but I did text Mister and tell him that he needs to let me know when he is close to home, because my nerves are bad, and I am scared. He understood, probably just because he knows me, and said that he would definitely let me know when he is on his way home.

I'd be scared to death! I certainly hope everything is okay. I'm a chicken. I'd call the police and have them look around. But that's just me. I'd also grab my can of wasp spray, to spray in their face, if needed. If nothing else, it would be unexpected and it sprays in a stream, for a long distance. Keep us posted.

The recipe looks good, but I'm surprised it's all white sugar. When making a pumpkin pie, I use 1/2 white sugar & 1/2 brown sugar, as it adds flavor.

I am having issues with a different computer, I could not get into this board. I even set up a new account and all of a sudden I'm back in it.
What gives?
And this place isn't all marines nor all white, just some of each, but I have no idea how many nor does it matter.
Son had some ideas on rearranging things here and it looks good, we both like it. We have to get rid of some furniture pieces and that's ok.
I went to the grocer, our realtor gave us a $100 gift card, that was really nice. I bought lots of good stuff to cook and then realized, no oil, no silverware, and we were to pooped to go over and get stuff. So DD ate sushi, I nibbled on some and had radishes. Hubs ate cherry pie, we have 1 spoon we are sharing, LOL! I do have a skillet. I wanted fried potatoes tonight with thin cut pork chops, another night I guess. Or mashed potatoes and gravy with pork, yes I'm still hungry for some real food. I'm tired of eating out.
I got lucky and bought a pork roast for $1.99 a pound and then it was buy one and get one free, so quite a deal. I need to dig my seal a meal out and cut them in 2, freeze 3 and make barbecue with one. And cole slaw with it. You can tell I missed food.
It looks like I'm not painting our dark blue office and bathroom, hubs said it looks like designer colors in here. It's sure not anything I would have chosen, I always did very pale muted color. DD is thrilled with her room color. We have a lavender light color bedroom but needs repainted, the bathroom is lavender with creme colored tile and different shades of yellow on a lot of the other walls, when repainted will use the same colors I guess. It's very cheery colors.
Hubs said the way the landscaping is and how the houses are placed our small lots are very private. People speak and I'm sure many are friends, but so far its beyond peaceful and quiet. We were told it was, I suppose in time we will get to know some folks.
So this is the first night in our new place. The kitties love all the little raised nooks and crannies they can get in and on. We have cutouts up by the ceiling going into the kitchen and a pass through from the kitchen, they are sure enjoying those places. Same above the fireplace with a set back above it. They are settling in really well.
We have lots of ideas of things we want to do. Hope we can sell the houses so we can afford to do them.

I haven't done a damn thing all day, have been lazy and watching Olympics coverage so far. today's national Lazy Day, according to what I'm seeing on FB, so I'll roll with that haha. I'll get moving once the coverage switches to basketball. I'm not terribly invested in that to sit and watch the whole thing, and rather annoyed with the coach of the US team - he's healthy scratched the best player on the NBA Championship-winning Celtics not once, but twice. what's this guy's effing problem? oh right, he's the Golden State Warriors coach and he's organizing his team of Western Conference All-Stars. I cannot wait to see what Jayson Tatum does to the rest of the NBA next season. Who did you want Tatum playing ahead of? LeBron, KD, or Steff? And when he did play he didn't do all that much to help them. Tatum should be like Tyrese Haliburton, another really good young player who barely played at all. Posted a selfie of himself smiling and holding his gold medal: Derrick White got some good minutes most games. Doesn't he count?

When you posted about this before, it's possible one of the owners was a highly sensitive person and wanted that color for a calming effect. My bedroom gets sun all day and when its very sunny its uncomfortable to me. A darker paint color might make the room feel less intense. IDK, but I was in someone's home once which had dark walls in the bathroom. I remember at the time I thought hmmm that makes sense. (For that person and how they lived)
