DIL is back home, she said Texas was brutal. They went to the beach and her friend got stung or hit or whatever with a Portugese man of war, had to go to the ER. She said she was in horrible pain. Poor thing.
They decided since it was going to get at least 98 next week and rather then have him come home to that he can stay another week. Fine with us, we have no problem with him staying. I keep telling son, I would not live up there without AC. But I understand son wants to get the house paid for, its worrying him I know. He has never owed money and it's more then we can help with this time. He could pay it off but it would deplete a great deal of his savings.

We went to Renaissance Festival today. Dd spends money at those like it's water, but she had the money to spend. I spent plenty too. I love the hair braiding and I think with practice I could do the style dd got today. Most of the shops have been there "forever". One of the clothing shops has a sarong dress that can be worn a bunch of different styles. I had one in high-school and lived in it. I got 1 for dd, and didn't think I'd like it on myself now but tried it on and fell in love again. Hand made, natural fibers, local merchant so it ticks off all the boxes to make it worth the price. I wanted to buy a new costume too, but reigned myself in. But we're going back next week and between wanting everything in that shop, and finding a perfect blade for training I have a feeling it will be another expensive week.

All that stuff along the edge of the field? That's sumac. It will turn bright red in the Fall. Starting to get a few leaves turning already.

I haven't been paying any attention to the news up here lately. It's all 'pope this' and 'pope-that'.
It's like nothing else happens in Canada.

Dad just texted that mom was awake for awhile. She can respond to commands and she reacts to dad's voice. That is a very good sign I think. Fingers crossed. This seems like great news! Yay! I hope so but after the roller coaster of my MIL I try not to get my hopes too high. I know there were major differences with her and my grandma back in 2006. Kidney function is the biggie. But I am trying to protect myself mentally. Bob and I talked about it. I'm sure it's crossed dad's mind as well but we agreed we'd never voice it to him it stayed between us. He doesn't need to hear that from us too right now. Baby steps. Still put that in your pipe and smoke it Dr. 40% Now she needs to recover to spite them all.

DH lost his keys. Windows are down, he wants to put them up, can’t find keys. He was driving it today, so they have to be here. I have helped him look, no luck. Garbage gets picked up tomorrow. I won’t put. it out if we don’t find keys.

I thought to myself...There's a whole lot of badassness/strength in drama, and I think she got it from her mom. " I will continue to send good mojo your way.

My mom would lose her keys, or my dad's paycheck that needed to be deposited, all the time. I always put my keys in the same place, because of this. Always.

Good luck!

The power flashed off a couple of times tonight. Little guy says no worry you have a Generac. Obvioulsy he has been watching commercials, thinking because we have a PowerCell by them that it would power the house and he thought it included a generator too. We had to explain it requires batteries. But I love his inquisitiveness and just general knowledge. And he is building a good vocabulary from dad. I help him learn more words when here.
We get to keep him another week because of the heat wave coming through up there. And I know they are also thinking of hubs driving into that. But I'm thrilled to have him stay longer, no problem for me.
I think the storm is finally over 2 waves of it and heard what sounded like a third coming but stopped.
A small bridge washed out east of here and quite a few homes without power.

Hubs keeps asking if I have found mine in the fridge, LOL. On my DNA results, it says I have a slight chance of late age onset Alzenheimers. I told hubs check his too. Not to worried about that.

Good morning, diligent invisipeeps, sharing snippets of your lives in Y Ma'am. I hope your Monday rewards your efforts in style.
Today the junk hauler comes and takes away the project leftovers--the old kitchen sink, shed doors, chicken wire, etc.--and an unholy amount of cardboard boxes and packing materials. We are emptying the house of trash in part to get ready for the Day of the Pod, Thursday, when we'll have furniture and more boxes from Maryland join the rest of our possessions. It's going to be an intense week and a half.
I made reservations yesterday for hotels in the DMV, for Sunday and Monday nights.
I was ready to make chili over the weekend but have no can opener. Maybe I'll get one today. Our days of nomadic living are coming to an end.
The summer squash plant my sister started for me is getting ready to bud up. I love sauteed summer squash.

good morning! I've been awake since about 2, and since it's getting light out, I think I'm giving up on trying to go back to sleep. ugh, not a good start to the week.

And since it's 4:30AM and I have to get up at 6, I think I'll stay awake at this point, also. It's going to be a long day. But at least I got some laundry done.

The promised rain came last night- just what we need, moderate showers rather than a deluge. They're supposed to continue for a few days. I happily threw open the windows and turned off the A/C.
Today I need to pack for a road trip to be with family in Pella, IA tomorrow. I am not looking forward to driving 3+ hours in rain with my bicycle on the back of the car but it's supposed to clear up later in the week. I'm also making a trip to the Wild Bird Store; the birds are going through massive amounts of seed so I'll buy another couple of 25-lb. bags. Typically they're gone in a month! Last week I "filled in" with cheaper stuff from the grocery store and it went even faster, probably because the seeds had hulls on them (the mix I usually buy does not) so there was less actual food for the birds. You get what you pay for, as usual.

Maybe keys are in the car In the ignition? I don't know how old your DH is, but if he's old enough for dementia, I'd check the fridge or the pantry, too. Good luck! I've put mine in the fridge and the kitchen sink and left them in the door all night and locked them inside my parents' house which blew because their key was on my keychain inside their house. I've also been really distracted/distressed and freaked out thinking I lost them and they are in the ignition. WITH the car running. ADD can be a bitch sometimes.

I searched all over for mine and it turned out I'd put my purse on top of them. I highly recommend Apple AirTags if you have an iPhone. There's something similar for Android. Not cheap, especially since I bought the Apple-branded case to go with it so I could put it on the keychain. (The AirTag itself is a silver puffy disc with no way to connect it to anything.) It will let you know the location through a built-in Find My Device app on your phone and apparently will lead you to it in close quarters such as the house. I haven't tried that feature but it does show you a map, making it handy if you left it at someone's house or if you put it inside checked luggage when you fly.

Ordinary jelly fish are bad enough, MOW are much worse. Even stepping on a small piece of one washed up on the sand is agonizing. I lived on Padre Island when I was young and we always had meat tenderizer in our beach bags as a first aid treatment. I'm glad you can enjoy your grandson an extra week

I lost my iPhone while at a restaurant. Thankfully I had my iPad with me. I was reading a book on it. I used the find my device and it told me the phone was in the car. It had slipped under the front seat. It was in my purse so I never figured out how that happened.

The mountain lion is a gorgeous animal.
Maddow decided at 5 AM to wake me with the song of his people. I finally fell back asleep and he did it again.
He is now sleeping and I'm doing laundry.
