This kind of baffles me. Why would you want to time how long it takes you to get home? You are on leave so its not like you have to be home at a very specific time. From your description it also depends on how many others are on the bus and where they live at any time which would vary every time. So it is not like you can use the data to extrapolate time needed for future trips. Just sit back and relax. You'll get there when you get there and all will be fine 1) I have other things I need to accomplish besides spending the entire workday to get groceries 2) I live 15 minutes away from the grocery store AND the powers that be decided because of where the county office is, I am the first one to be picked up and the last one to get off. When I first called I was told P/U was between Noon and 12:30 and drop off was between 2 and 2:30PM. Both turned out to be incorrect. 3) When it is hot, how long I am in the bus or waiting for the bus affects my frozen, fresh and other items. I've had to endure the damage to my groceries with order and delivery. I was hoping that would no longer be true. So far, it can be just as bad, just different. Why? Because I do not eat a big breakfast to carry me from say 11am to the time I finally get home to make lunchand its annoying that my fresh blueberries were basically unusable after the day of the grocery shop due to the heat they were exposed to and the length of time that occurred. That's why I timed it. Originally this was not the best time because when I start working half days, there is no way to use the bus to get groceries one day without taking off the entire day. 4) I have doctor's appointments, PT appointments, and labs to schedule and go to in these next three weeks. I need to start working on the but scheduling is already over for the day. It ends at 4PM. If I got home closer to 2PM, I might have an hour in which to finish eating and perhaps start booking a medical transport for labs, PT and medical appointments. I'd prefer to be able to accomplish more than one thing between 9 and 5 or 8 to 4PM each day during the week. Get yourself a cooler tote, toss in an ice pack and your food will stay cold. Take yourself a snack, maybe a drink. I've been doing this for 50 years, including when I had to take my kids with me everywhere I went, which was no easy task. Works out fine.

This is why though you need to be able to afford your own car so you can make these decisions. Personally if I were Mister I would make her decide and not give her a dime. She chose to get this car, she chose to take a loan out on it that isn't paid off. SHE needs to figure out how she's going to make this work or take the bus. For real! She's a big girl. She can figure out big girl problems on her own. One day her parents won't be around to help her. She needs to figure it out now. This is one of the reasons why I make my kids be responsible for paying for drivers ed (if they want to drive before they are 18) and car insurance/gas when they get their license. The only money my kids seriously think about is the money they earn from a j-o-b. Giving them an allowance, they would still consider that whatever, since they didn't earn it. I mean. Crap. DS is pretty much self-supporting. He's already getting too used to saving 2/3 of his income, and he's been full time less than a year. I need to start charging him some money, because he needs to get more used to figuring out how to deal with more of his paycheck being ear marked for something. IMVHO, I think for some, this prolonging the transition to actual adulthood is really bad for some folks. Nothing grates me more than someone saying "Oh, blah blah is over 18; they are an adult. They can do whatever they want." And it turns out "whatever they want" is mostly (if not 100%) on the parent's dime. That's not being an adult. If you want to be an adult, be an adult. if you don't, don't complain about having the rights and privileges of a child. You don't get to have both.

The shop they took OD’s car to, anything they do to fix it is going to cost at least $5k. Replace the engine with one that comes with a water pump, $5k. Replace the water pump and cooling fans, $5,900. They told Mister that when they looked at it, the water pump was falling apart in pieces. Mister doesn’t believe that, or that they even looked at it, because you have to remove so much other stuff just to get to the water pump, and something they said that I don’t remember, made Mister not believe them. So he and OD went and got it today, to take it to a shop that we’ve used before. They are taking it tomorrow. OD drove it home today, and Mister followed her. It didn’t overheat. It seems that if the water pump had fallen apart like they described to Mister, she wouldn’t have made it home without something happening. I am pretty sure OD doesn’t have $5k to fix her car. And the loan on it has not been paid off. Maybe Mister and her Mom will split the cost to fix it, if her Mom has half. Her Mom seems to want to just trade it in for something else. I'm no licensed mechanic but I'm pretty sure if water is not circulating, an engine will overheat in a heartbeat especially in this weather. And if the water pump is shot, water is not circulating. Idk much about mechanics regarding cars either. But I think that when they went to get the car today, the fact that it did not overheat before OD got home with it, with Mister following her, confirmed Mister’s doubts about the shop saying that the water pump had fallen apart when they “looked at it”. I have run into people trying to get over on me because I was a woman. I think the same kind of unscrupulous people might try to get over on a parent who doesn’t want their child driving a car with issues. And maybe this shop was doing just that, because they knew it was a young adult’s car that her parents wanted fixed. But Mister knows enough about cars and how they work, to question what they were telling him. That was with him talking to them himself, and not what OD was telling him that they said. Idk, and it’s not my issue to deal with and try to resolve. So OAN, Mister’s Mustang runs HOT. So hot that sitting in the garage after he parks it, is a big fat NO. I told him that might be nice during winter, but when it’s so hot outside like it is now, it’s probably not a bad idea to let the garage door stay up for a while after he comes home with it, because o.m.g. with the heat from it. I can be sitting outside with a fan blowing, but when he comes home and parks that beast in the garage, everything changes because it’s so hot. None of that would matter if I could sit on the deck like I use to do. But we have not moved any of the stuff we use to have on the deck. There are things that are still problematic with the deck and the guy responsible for the work has been very agreeable when Mister has called him, but as of today, he has not shown up to correct the problems. I thought that Mister got better results when he was the one to call the guy. But now, I am going to call him tomorrow and it will probably be clear that dealing with Mister probably was the most peaceful option. Because Mister can get off track with someone that talks nice, which is why he is not “allowed” to talk to sales people by himself, his people pleasing means that he doesn’t know how to say NO to someone that is a good sales person. But we’ve acted in good faith with the people that fixed our deck, and I am not shy or whatever about expecting the work to be done properly. So I will call them tomorrow, since they promised Mister that they would come over Monday to fix the issues. And I will make it clear that I expect them to correct the issues asap. And if they don’t do that, I will escalate the issue, to wherever I feel I might be heard, from the BBB and including social media. There are deck boards that have little to no stain on them, and other boards that are still “gummy” because there is too much of the stain on the . On the rails, you can see where the stain dried as it was running down from the top. Sitting on the deck, you can see the vertical pieces on the rail are not straight. And now, one of those pieces that are part of the rail, has come loose completely from where it was screwed into the wood that’s supposed to hold it all together. One part of the rail, near the steps, is not secure at all, which I mentioned before the last time they came out. Mister paid for this work to be done, and not me, but I am still really pissed that we agreed to the price that was quoted and there are still so many issues. There are screws sticking out with the pointed end on the deck and I am concerned that our dogs might get injured with those. At my other house, when y neighbor had someone build a wood fence around her back yard that was on one side of my back yard, she was appalled to learn that nails and screws were sticking out on my side of the fence and could injure my children or my dogs. So she demanded that whoever built the fence come fix that, and asked for my permission to have them come in my backyard to fix it. Permission granted, and I loved her even more for making it her business to fix it.

Given our climate and the facts that there is no insulation in the wall between the garage and kitchen, and the washer/dryer are in the garage, in the summer months we raise both garage doors about 2" and turn on a fan in the garage whenever DH brings his car into the garage. It's sort of pain because we have to remember to close the doors at bedtime and turn off the fan but it is what it is for our house.

Found out what the "talking negative about customers" in my review is.
It was a freaking private conversation I was having with someone on my unpaid lunch break and she overheard it.
I could make the lab look bad if others overheard. I'm not supposed to complain about work at work.
I fucking give up. I knew it was going to be something stupid but wow. I am apparently watched even off the clock.
If they did real reviews answerable to HR I feel like that would be thrown out.

Any word on the other jobs.

I got two others I'm going to go for after I review my resume to make sure I got all the microbiology stuff on it. I'm highly qualified for both the current applications out and the two I'm going to apply to so you'd think something would pan out. I gave my work BFF shit. I said even with not working in the lab for 8 months somehow you still get me in trouble! He was also told he needs an attitude adjustment. We're bad influences.😅

I'm fried mentally so I'm shutting it down for tonight. Last night I activated my BTB (block the biotch) mode for our treasurer who left some pathetic voicemails and stupid texts. I'm going to sit on the deck and bake in the setting sun at a toasty 97 degrees. Y'all be safe and don't do anything exceeding our freezer capacity.

DH hasn’t eaten veggies or fruit for a couple of days. I suggested that he have some fruit but he just pointed at his wine.

So. Confirmation #3434543 that I made the right decision.
I looked at the jobs website. There's currently 3 other jobs that I could eventually move into from my new job.
It is still possible that i could make a 6 figure salary before I leave.

I have a confirmed appointment to get my ceiling repaired from the water leak.
I did postpone it until after my surgery or it would already be done.

Got drivers license today and ID for DD, easy process, not like Indiana. And I registered to vote at the same times, wow.
Went to bank and opened an account, hubs has to go in and sign off on his name on it too. Could not open DD's have to get a rep payee new letter from SS before I can be named that even though I have old letter and have been since she was 18.
Got an estimate for 2 rooms of carpet, OH MY, $7500, no way is that going to happen, just wow! I will have to check out the in stock carpet on sale, I knew prices had increased, but really?
We may have to wait and let hubs put in hardwood. He could buy the flooring in Indiana and bring it up. We'll see.

i really like the carpet I picked out but not for that amount of money. I'm going to look at the in stock stuff they have e for 35% off, may not like it but will see. I didn't see the sign till I was pulling out of their parking lot. Otherwise we will probably just wait and go with hardwood that hubs can put in. But he only has 2 hands so can only do so much at a time.
We decided we need to get moved in and cut some of these 2 and 3 places we are paying utilities and other costs for.
We did go out to dinner tonight, but that needs to be stopped too. But mainly because we are tired of the stuff we are eating. I need to start cooking again. A lot of the restaurant food I'm just tired of.
I think he said we are going to have a 95 degree day in the next few days then not bad for awhile. Hopefully we can get our new heat pump with AC in and that will make the place comfortable.
I'm having a Grape Crush soda with real cane sugar. I bought 4, no one else wants them so I will have to portion these out. It's actually pretty good, haven't had one in years. But 160 calories in 12 ounces isn't for me.
I washed a couple of windows here using Dawn and they are really squeaky clean, I will have to do that at the new house. I'm hoping I can start doing some work there and help hubs. I just have to get busy.
We got our sprinkler and timer today and he watered our little front lawn, everything there is perking up already. It's small enough he only had to move it once. Down the other side we will have to spray straight up to water those shrubs. I'm getting excited to move in even though its going to take awhile to get it like we want it. But that's ok. Hubs likes doing things and it will keep him busy for awhile and he likes that.
I am hoping I can wash down the walls in my bedroom and DD's and paint the walls at least. The rest of the walls just need washed down for now.
Time for me to go to bed. I'm still trying to sleep 10 and 12 hours a night and will for as long as I can.

An Andi, I think that will make a nice home for you. I would later though replace the wood with hardiplank if you can. It is extremely durable, this manufactured home is sided with it and its 20 years old and looks like new. It's good stuff.

I'd prefer to be able to accomplish more than one thing between 9 and 5 or 8 to 4PM each day during the week. That is a long list of issues but it does not explain how timing the bus ride will solve anything. It is not realistic that a public service will change its schedule just for you. The, admittedly long, time it takes is just what it is. The only thing in your power is changing how you do things like calling the doctor's office to schedule appointments before you need to leave to catch the bus or putting a granola bar in your purse to tide you over. Frozen foods are harder but a few frozen cooling elements in your shopping bags should help some and they will protect the fresh, not frozen, food in the extreme heat. None of this involves timing of a variable bus ride. It just needs planning based on the reality you have to deal with. Because Opti needs to get back onto the political thread and post bs to save the US from Putin. All the excuses are laughable and being the first picked up on the bus has always been the last dropped off from day one. Opti is living in a parallel world where the real world does not make sense to her. No reasoning will help. Her priority should be to process her father's IRA so that the rent be paid and not her frozen vegies and blueberries inside an air conditioned bus,

Good morning, erudite invisipeeps, solving puzzles and resolving issues with houses and cars and other people and life. Welcome to Thursday. You've almost made it, another week slipping away into oblivion. I hope this day treats you kindly and offers you reason to celebrate with a madcap frolic thrown in there. Today is going to be filled to the brim with preparing for the show this weekend. Since the forecast has changed it's pretty clear we will be setting up very early Saturday morning, which means tomorrow we'll bring Franklin the Dog to DSis's, run back home, pack up the car and run down to Mystic to check into a hotel after getting our booth assignment. For many shows Friday set up is allowed, but this festival is on the streets, straddling the sidewalks. We are fortunate that leaving tents set up Saturday overnight to Sunday is okay. Today we'll have to prepare all the prints, matting them, signing them, and slipping them into their jackets for display. Mats are due to arrive today, 80+ of them for the next couple of shows. That's being wildly optimistic about the need but here we are. It turns out that this festival is also an art competition. DH didn't realize that when he signed up for it so he didn't include any of my pictures in the application submission. Ah, well. I hope everything is good in the end. I took this photo yesterday late in the day, of the harbor when the rain had gone:

Coworker is leaving today in order to avoid the worst of the weather. That will put us back a little project wise, but oh well.
And today is my 15th wedding anniversary. I took tomorrow off for a doctor appointment, so I may just check out when she heads out around lunch time.

I am also older than dirt today - AKA 39, which I guess I now have to remain forever. 😂
Also happy anniversary to daisylu!

The last time I moved into a house with nasty carpet in the bedroom, I removed it and cleaned the floor really well removing any staples or tack strips. I then threw down a big room size rug until I could get new carpet laid. I would rather walk around on sub floor for a few months than breathe in someone else's dirty carpet dust.

I just came on here to say happy birthday to Gira before anyone else, but she already posted it! 🙃 I am also older than dirt today - AKA 39, which I guess I now have to remain forever. 😂 Also happy anniversary to daisylu! I've got a decade on you. I hope you have a happy birthday.
