I am mildly irritated at the hiring process with my employer.
They can't find some of my original paperwork from 20 years ago.
I'm also not understanding why I'm told to do things. Like, shouldn't my direct deposit stay the same? It's like if I worked at Ford, and I went from the engineering department to the marketing department. Same location. Like. I would assume I wouldn't have to re-invent the wheel.
In other news. I got a brand new $30 skein of yarn today for $5. It is beautiful, and I am pleased.

The forecast for Mystic has changed. It's not done a 180, but maybe a 145, with a decreasing likelihood of rain and somewhat less wind.

UNMC Employee Health lost my tetanus shot records every single year like clockwork. I'd go to work downstairs one morning and find out my badge didn't work. Go back upstairs and they said I have no shot on record. Cue having to go over there and argue with them. They told me I don't have to be so snotty and I said yes I do this happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR! The shot lasts 10 years and the last one you guys are the ones that gave it to me! The last time I made them print off my vaccination records and kept the copy in my desk. They didn't like when I whipped it out to show their letterhead and a time/date stamp on it.

It's this one. It's not too close to the main road. It's on 81st and at 78th is a huge shopping center, so it's close to everything I need. The neighborhood is quiet. The driveway needs to be replaced, but it's fine for now. There is a concrete pad out back that I'll have replaced when they replace the driveway. I'll make it bigger too and have that as a patio for entertaining instead of a deck. I'm not wild about the wood siding, but that always be replaced down the road. My cousin is an electrician. I can have him rewire the garage so I can have it heated and cooled for more entertainment space. The main remodeling has already been done. www.zillow.com/homedetails/805-N-81st-St-Kansas-City-KS-66112/75731508_zpid/I would also consider taking down some of those trees close to the house. From the photos they "seem" to be hanging over the roof.

boo, MA lost today. 1 run game. I'm pulling for Maine tomorrow night, it's Portland. I like Portland. I'm not sure where in NH this team is from, but I don't really have connections to anywhere in NH.

TFW you see a trainwreck coming, and it’s totally unnecessary, and everyone involved should know better, but you’re rude if you speak up with “hey maybe let’s not have a trainwreck again”

it's LLWS time! yay! I got back from a Walmart run over lunch to discover MA is playing now in the New England regionals. LLWS tourneys are double-elimination format. MA has one loss at this point, and is playing for the opportunity to face the team that beat them, in the finals tomorrow night. what is LLWS?

Like you said, it can be replaced. Your plans for it sound great. Good luck!

Little League World Series linkve about chiver78 and others would you recommend going to the Jackie Robinson museum in NY? The church group is going the end of the month, and I am thinking about it. I would have to beg for a ride there and back, but I do have several weeks to ask. Hope you enjoy watching LLWS.

The shop they took OD’s car to, anything they do to fix it is going to cost at least $5k. Replace the engine with one that comes with a water pump, $5k. Replace the water pump and cooling fans, $5,900. They told Mister that when they looked at it, the water pump was falling apart in pieces. Mister doesn’t believe that, or that they even looked at it, because you have to remove so much other stuff just to get to the water pump, and something they said that I don’t remember, made Mister not believe them.
So he and OD went and got it today, to take it to a shop that we’ve used before. They are taking it tomorrow. OD drove it home today, and Mister followed her. It didn’t overheat. It seems that if the water pump had fallen apart like they described to Mister, she wouldn’t have made it home without something happening.
I am pretty sure OD doesn’t have $5k to fix her car. And the loan on it has not been paid off. Maybe Mister and her Mom will split the cost to fix it, if her Mom has half. Her Mom seems to want to just trade it in for something else.

Made it home. Last drop off again. At least it was less time this time because of who came. Forty to forty-five minutes. Forgot to start my phone timer when the bus was loaded and ready to leave.
County office is near me. I will have to find out where. My pulled pork needs to be heated up, so I guess my Linner sandwich will be tuna after I finish typing in this post. Might start eating my sandwich by quarter to 4.

I think I'm gonna to make an offer on the house with no basement. Two of the 5 bedrooms were tiny. One will be a gym and the other will be my office. The other three were plenty big enough. I will need to put a fence on the sides on the house, but the front yard is fully fenced in so the twins can just go out front until I get half a fence up. The layout is a little weird, but it has everything I want in it. I'm glad - I hope you get it and enjoy it

I've posted a bunch about how I grew up, I won't rehash here now. but, when I started driving, I drove whatever my parents had for vehicles. I got to college, and was working some - most of which pay got handed over for the household I wasn't even living in, as my dad's cancer diagnosis came the day after I moved into my freshman dorm. anyway, toward the end of that academic year (1997), I took a liking to a beat up Camaro I saw on a lot every time I came home, that my dad's BFF (a wholesale car dealer) managed to snag for me, for all of $150. my dad put the repair limit on that Camaro at the $150 I paid for it in the first place. my dad made sure we had vehicles my whole childhood, but they were often the ones that his BFF couldn't sell as used vehicles because they were just that old. and when they became more expensive to repair than a "new" one would be, they were discarded to the junkyard. dad was absolutely horrified that I was open to spending $2k on a then-5yo Saturn SL2 during my senior year of college. I wasn't interested in continuing the cycle. I saw you post something about Mister looking into discontinuing CS. has he considered other ways to cut back on enabling his disrespectful daughters? sadly, I don't see them changing their ways as long as the money is still coming in.

I'm no licensed mechanic but I'm pretty sure if water is not circulating, an engine will overheat in a heartbeat especially in this weather. And if the water pump is shot, water is not circulating.

My dad will repair our cars at the cost of parts. If we need to we go to a shop that he trusts but when that guy retires IDK what we are going to do.
It's a case by case basis with our cars when we stop repairing them. I drove the 1993 Taurus for 11 years when it rusted out, it was time for it to go.
The 2005 Impala my dad said he could probably fix the engine to limp it along another couple years BUT it was rusting out and I needed to factor in how much higher car prices were going to jump in those two years. He didn't consider it a good ROI but since it was my decision he was going to let me make it.
I ended up buying the 2012 Impala I drive now. It will be paid off next month. I just sank about a thousand into it for new rotors, breaks and a tire. Well worth it it still has less than 150,000 miles on it. It is a really solid car I plan on driving into the ground.
It will likely become Gwen's car and then I will get a new one. DH has the truck and we need to decide what we are going to do with the Nissan here soon if Gwen doesn't want to drive it. I'm guessing probably trade it in when I'm ready to hand over the keys to the Impala.
Depending on how much longer is on the loan and the age/condition/mileage on the car I'd probably fork over $5k. If I got another 5 years out of the car that is $1k per year which isn't too bad. Even less if I got another 10 years out of it.
This is why though you need to be able to afford your own car so you can make these decisions. Personally if I were Mister I would make her decide and not give her a dime. She chose to get this car, she chose to take a loan out on it that isn't paid off. SHE needs to figure out how she's going to make this work or take the bus.

You are on leave so its not like you have to be home at a very specific time. From your description it also depends on how many others are on the bus and where they live at any time which would vary every time. So it is not like you can use the data to extrapolate time needed for future trips. Just sit back and relax. You'll get there when you get there and all will be fine

So it is not like you can use the data to extrapolate time needed for future trips. Just sit back and relax. You'll get there when you get there and all will be fine 1) I have other things I need to accomplish besides spending the entire workday to get groceries 2) I live 15 minutes away from the grocery store AND the powers that be decided because of where the county office is, I am the first one to be picked up and the last one to get off. When I first called I was told P/U was between Noon and 12:30 and drop off was between 2 and 2:30PM. Both turned out to be incorrect. 3) When it is hot, how long I am in the bus or waiting for the bus affects my frozen, fresh and other items. I've had to endure the damage to my groceries with order and delivery. I was hoping that would no longer be true. So far, it can be just as bad, just different. Why? Because I do not eat a big breakfast to carry me from say 11am to the time I finally get home to make lunchand its annoying that my fresh blueberries were basically unusable after the day of the grocery shop due to the heat they were exposed to and the length of time that occurred. That's why I timed it. Originally this was not the best time because when I start working half days, there is no way to use the bus to get groceries one day without taking off the entire day. 4) I have doctor's appointments, PT appointments, and labs to schedule and go to in these next three weeks. I need to start working on the but scheduling is already over for the day. It ends at 4PM. If I got home closer to 2PM, I might have an hour in which to finish eating and perhaps start booking a medical transport for labs, PT and medical appointments. I'd prefer to be able to accomplish more than one thing between 9 and 5 or 8 to 4PM each day during the week.

You are not working so why does that matter. Try going to school from kindergarten on with a one hour bus route and you are the first on and the last one off for all the years you ride the bus. That is what my niece and nephews did. No service caters to one person. If you expect that, you are not going to get it. You will need to take Lyft or Uber which costs money that you don't have because you don't go to work.

I may have to get a new dining table though. I have a huge granite table now and there is no formal dining room. I'll give it to T1 or sell it. It's a really nice table, but it's huge. It's also very heavy.

Mister went to look at the car himself a couple weeks ago, and saw for himself that the fans wouldn’t come on. Idk about the water pump. After they took the car to the shop, Mister has been talking to the person at the shop himself, so it’s not him going on what OD might be telling him. And if he helps pay for repairs, it will be him paying the shop directly, not giving OD the money. I understand what you mean about it being a possible money grab, and I am often suspicious too, given the history, but I do think something is wrong with her car for real. The girls’ Mom went out and financed this car for OD, without talking to Mister first. In my mind, that means the payment is her problem, not Mister’s, even though she’s made it her business to tell him more than once that she uses part of the CS she receives from him to make the payments. I’m not sure what he has going on as far as cutting back and not enabling them. He doesn’t seem to really want to talk about them to me, and I don’t make it a point to ask about them. He did say last week, when YD told them she needed $2k for her tuition at the last minute, that their Mom told YD if Mister pays the $2k, YD is going to have to pay him back when she starts getting the checks from the VA again. I think that since the checks from the VA are for college expenses, they only get the checks when they are enrolled in college classes, so not during the summer. But the checks are for almost $1,400/month, and YD had not saved any of hers. This is the second time that I know of, that YD needed some money at the last minute for her tuition. Idk if OD saves money for her tuition or just tells her parents ahead of time what she needs, but that’s never been an issue with OD. Overall, she is more responsible and not as selfish as YD. Even though I feel like OD doesn’t treat Mister right either, she has always been the one that calls him just to chat (when they aren’t “punishing” him for not getting their way), unlike YD, who has always only called him when she wants something. When Mister and OD met today to go get her car from the shop, she had bought him an air freshener sachet for his new car. She has issues too, but she does do thoughtful things like that and she buys stuff for Kiddo and Mister’s niece. A few years ago, she’d bought some jeans for Mister’s niece, and the jeans were too small for niece. So OD told me that my DGD1 could have them, since she is smaller than Mister’s niece. I offered to pay her for them and she said no, she didn’t want me to pay her. I honestly think that if OD and I had met some other kind of way, she and I could have a good relationship. There is a lot to like about her, and it makes me sad that we have been at odds for so long. Before we went cruising Sunday, Mister went and got some stuff from OD that she had for Kiddo for back to school. I have thought about it, and still can’t recall YD spending money on anyone besides herself, not even her Dad. Her parents and OD all know and say that YD is selfish. But it’s not on me to try to correct that behavior. All of it just makes me sad. Mister’s daughters aren’t bad people imo. They just need for Mister to set some boundaries with them and stick to them. The fact that he can’t find a way to do that, is on him more than it’s on them. I honestly believe that OD at least, isn’t going to stop fooling with him forever if he sets some boundaries with them. She very clearly loves her Dad. YD, her Dad serves a purpose for her, but maybe she will eventually grow and mature to where he is not just a source of money to her.

For real! She's a big girl. She can figure out big girl problems on her own. One day her parents won't be around to help her. She needs to figure it out now.

boo, MA lost today. 1 run game. I'm pulling for Maine tomorrow night, it's Portland. I like Portland. I'm not sure where in NH this team is from, but I don't really have connections to anywhere in NH. I do! It's Salem, NH. I don't care about them so it's all good.

This kind of baffles me. Why would you want to time how long it takes you to get home? You are on leave so its not like you have to be home at a very specific time. From your description it also depends on how many others are on the bus and where they live at any time which would vary every time. So it is not like you can use the data to extrapolate time needed for future trips. Just sit back and relax. That is a long list of issues but it does not explain how timing the bus ride will solve anything. It is not realistic that a public service will change its schedule just for you. The, admittedly long, time it takes is just what it is. The only thing in your power is changing how you do things like calling the doctor's office to schedule appointments before you need to leave to catch the bus or putting a granola bar in your purse to tide you over. Frozen foods are harder but a few frozen cooling elements in your shopping bags should help some and they will protect the fresh, not frozen, food in the extreme heat. None of this involves timing of a variable bus ride. It just needs planning based on the reality you have to deal with.

I'm glad - I hope you get it and enjoy it Thanks. I'm glad that I don't have to do anything to it right away. I may have to get a new dining table though. I have a huge granite table now and there is no formal dining room. I'll give it to T1 or sell it. It's a really nice table, but it's huge. It's also very heavy. I hope you prioritize installing a storm shelter right away. Weather reports have been scary this year.
