DD(25) just texted to ask me to see the new Deadpool movie sometime this week. ❤️
Happily. My mom never did anything like with me, still doesn't, makes me glad to know that I broke that cycle.

my beverage thing to do this summer has been to dilute Simply raspberry lemonade with plain seltzer. being home makes that a lot easier to manage, but it's tasty. the lemonade on its own is way too sweet for me. I'm actually drinking that right now lol...
I'm kind of in a weird spot as far as shopping goes, a no-man's land, so to speak. there's a huge outdoor shopping plaza that's actually in the same town, but that's almost on the northern border and I'm basically on the southern town line. it takes me 25-30min to get there if I need to. that plaza had a BB&B (I think they all closed, right?), a Dick's, a DSW, Lane Bryant, and a few other brand names alongside a HUGE Walmart. if I want to drive 30min in another direction, I have most of the same names plus a Whole Foods and TJ's down in Hyannis. I'll do that sometimes in the winter, not this time of year though. probably 35-40 min west, out past finnime, there's another huge shopping destination in Dartmouth. I've never gone shopping there, but I'm told it's got pretty much everything I have between the two I already described. Hyannis is by far my closest Whole Foods, and likely TJs as well. when I worked downtown, and at my first adult job, there were Whole Foods spots near the offices. I'd regularly go there to grab lunch either from the hot bar or prepared foods counters. I do miss that availability!

Ditto on the bathroom being right off the kitchen is odd, and I've never seen a rolling dishwasher before-do you roll it across the kitchen and hook it up at the sink or what? Driveway is totally trashed Overall, I like the place

I love Trader Joe's. There's one five miles from me so I do a quarterly stock up. My work day ends at 3:30 so I tend to go on a weekday before heavy commute time begins. A TJ is opening 1.5 miles from my house later this year so I am screwed. What do you buy there that you love?

Driveway is totally trashed Overall, I like the place I had a rolling dishwasher in my first home. It used for places where there is no dw hookup. And thirtyish years ago yes, I rolled it to the sink to hook it up to run it. It had a nice piece of countertop on it, and it can be stored under a countertop if there is room or rolled out of the way in the kitchen and you can put kitchen crap on top of it if you so desire. Ours was one that could be installed later if desired. (Get the plumbing done, hook it up, remove the wheels ...)

I thought it was pricey, snobby and had a poor selection. Combined with the poor parking, I was underwhelmed. Doubt I'll go back. It's too far away and not convenient.

A TJ is opening 1.5 miles from my house later this year so I am screwed. What do you buy there that you love? I'm currently snacking on their garlic naan crackers and caramelized onion dip. I like TJ frozen meals for when I'm too busy or uninspired to cook. I can use them as is or as a base for a full meal. Some of my favorite foods are the Japanese fried rice, frozen brown rice, kung Pao cauliflower, frozen French onion soup (vegetarian broth!), green onion pancakes, egg frittatas, cauliflower potato pancakes, peri peri sauce, pesto rosso, vegan kale, cashew, and basil pesto, jalapeno limeade, horchata inspired ice cream (seasonal), chili mangos, dark chocolate covered graham crackers, definitely other things I can't think of off the top of my head. They have a good selection of things like pasta, honey, nuts, dried fruit. Their cheese selection is nice. They have a seasonal apple salad kit I like in the fall. I also get hair and body products there. I love the shea butter and coconut oil hair mask and serum, Brazil nut body butter, and they have a fantastic facial sunscreen that is a dupe for Supergoop's Unseen Sunscreen for only $10.

I’m just curious about what other people like about them, to decide if I want to go back one day.

Doubt I'll go back. It's too far away and not convenient. Where do you usually shop? TJoe's is best for people who like variety and want something cheaper than WF and higher end grocery stores. There are values to be had there, like chicken broth, and a few other things. But the frozen veggies are generally mor expensive than the basics at my local grocery chain. I do lots of non-dairy stuff, so I use Brewer's yeast in pasta and other things to give a cheese flavor. Also adds B vitamins. Pre Covid I could get Brewer's yeast in the big bins at my local grocery store or Whole Foods. Post Covid, only Trader Joe's has a package that isn't outrageously expensive. I spent I think 2.99 on the package I have now and my options at the local grocery store probably start around $6 for fewer ounces. Things change so a few of my go to favorites have left forever including frozen Chicken Chili Lime burgers, nondairy dessert frozen bon bons and I think this nice frozen flat bread with onions, bell peppers etc. AND no cheese! It's hard to find nondairy in many categories, so I am sad it was a one-time thing. I love the garlic onion pistachios even if I can do better at Target per unit price for plain. Both are good. I also indulged in some lavender sachets for the dryer (no icky chemicals) on someone else's dime that I had in the past. For me as a single person, I can use that package for over a year.

The inside looks nice. The layout is a little weird with the bathroom off the kitchen and having to walk through the living room to get to the dining room. The siding needs attention...paint at least...and they don't mention the roof age so I'd find out about that. No garage would bother me and the property taxes are high compared to the other ones you were looking at.
Love the patio area though!
Maybe they just switched living and dining rooms so they had a full wall to hang the TV. The front room has windows or an open space on all sides, so probably makes logical sense for "modern" needs. Or maybe they barely use the dining table and prefer to have kitchen and living close together.

They must have formal dinners where they prefer the DR away from the kitchen. Its a nice property in that the land is well graded, the expansions look planned and even the crappy driveway broke in such a way you could even wait a year or so to deal with it. I wonder if those kitchen chairs are original.

I only drink water (usually with a liquid IV packet but often plain) during the day. I usually have a cup of hot tea in the morning. I sometimes have a Body Armor Lyte or a Fairlife Protein shake if I'm at a kid's softball or basketball game. I have never been a frequent pop (soda as some of you call it) drinker. Though I loved a good Code Red Mountain Dew in my younger years. I still love code red. I get it like twice a year.

Most of the really old houses had no bathroom but most had a pantry off the kitchen. My folks house was the same so they installed a bathroom there. The good thing about there's was it had another small room before the bathroom, so you did not go into it directly and they put their water heater in it. Lots of old places have it that way. I haven't bought any lunch meat for some time and yes, I heard about Boars Head. We haven't had an appetite for much of anything. DD said she feels better today. We have had some soups and a couple of subways, also fried chicken from Safeway, theirs is very good and very cheap. My hubs is in Montana, he thinks he will be in about 8 tonight. He said he is stopping and sleeping when he gets tired so slept about 3 hours last night. He said the kitties haven't eaten anything and he gave them fresh food not long ago. I told him not to worry, they won't starve and he said they are going to the bathroom so they are ok. He has water for them too, said he bought bottled water for all of them. I slept till 11:30 again, I'm sleeping at least 12 hours a night, but doesn't take long for me to wear down sadly. I drink way to much soda as does DD, I have tried many times to stop, I wonder what shape my bones would be in without premarin? But we are working on it again. I bought DD and I the small bottles of water and we will both drink all of one instead of wasting it. Even she is drinking them, so we are trying. I tried to quit again before the move but was so exhausted without the caffeine was the wrong time. I'm going to keep at it because they don't taste as good as they used to and they are so expensive at the drive through that will help. The oil treatment really helped my hair, it is soft this morning instead of all frazzled. I'm going to do DD's later today also, hers needs help. Hubs said it has been gloomy and raining some on his way out, just ugly. We have a bright sunny day here today. Hope son is enjoying his motorcycle ride with friends from work I'm sure. There are some old guys around in what he does because with that job experience does count and he has been doing this since they offered satellite microwave training when he enlisted. He was sure fortunate to get into that. When he leaves if he wants I would imagine he can make more money as a contractor. He made a good choice. I'm very proud of him. Well better get busy since its after lunch I'm not going to get much done. I saw 2 or 3 big stickers at the house going to dig out. The lawns on each side of ours are perfection. Ours will be next summer. They said the old guy took care of his but he started losing his sight so likely what happened. They said she didn't do much with it. We will get it in shape. If hubs has nothing to do he will help too I'm sure. He has work there to keep him busy for awhile. I told him all kinds of little things. Like 2 windows that don't close right. In the kitchen I need under counter lights. The inside of the garage needs painted. 2 kitchen cabinets the pieces inside need tightened as the bottom of the door comes loose. If I could find a screwdriver small enough could fix those. It's where the metal screw, screws into the metal piece on the door. The towel rack in the bathroom is screwed into the drywall, you know how long that lasts. The/ smoke detector in our bedroom ceiling is taped to the ceiling!! And of course we need to refinish the cabinet doors in the kitchen, I will have to end up doing that. He will likely sand them down and I will stain. I told hubs we are actually better off that the guy didn't try to fix things as sometimes they make a worse mess. Oh and the sprinkler system is leaking that will be a next year job. Son thinks it would really be nice to have it working, since I have never had one I don't know. I just ordered a timer to put on the hose and a sprinkler for now. it won't come till tuesday, I'm trying to stay out of stores much as possible. Well of course the roof, I'm having him take care of that. And we want the new heat pump, those are the 2 big things. But for the price of the house I'm not complaining. We are both much happier being able to pay cash and not spend double that on a house that still might need things. And like I said before all the appliances look new. Can't remember the brand of the dishwasher but it is super quiet and has the tray at the top for silverware like DIL has. The fridge is a GE like mine at home, I love it a 3 door one. And hubs and I are reluctantly admitting that a small yard and garage is likely all we need anyway. If I don't develop more energy its still a lot to take care of. Maybe today wash the 2 front windows if I can get to them for the rose bushes. I don't want to cut them back yet. And pull those thorn weeds. If I can get my electric mower in the car I will mow the lawn. 4228 iilahee Ln Sw, Tumwater, Wa I still think its so pretty and not many houses have been for sale in there. People seem to get them and stay. Anyone I have talked to there seems very happy in there. I wish I could post a video of driving into it. I told our son he might live there one day and he sure didn't say he wouldn't, even he likes it. And he loves the colors, he has told me more than once, mom don't change them, that makes it look so good in here. It is very bright and cheerful, so off I go.

I'm obsessed. I love it! Give me a quirky 1920s house all day every day. It's in an ideal location. Rosedale is a nice area close to downtown. There's all kinds of stuff around it. So why can't they sell it? From the history it seems like they can't give it away. I wonder why. Maybe they're just asking for too much.

The good thing is that you have your osteopenia diagnosis now and can begin effective treatment. My friends who have this, have seen major improvement with improved diets, following a consistent program of weight-bearing exercise, and proper mineral supplements. About your sprinkler system, we've had one for years now and I want to share some helpful tips. Do you remember telling us last week how high your water bill was and you weren't even living there? Your leaking sprinkler system is the likely culprit and could add up to many $$ by next year. Even if you don't want to have it serviced this year, there should be a cut-off valve somewhere on the property, likely under a screw-off plastic cap in the ground close to your water meter. That will allow you to shut off flow to the system so you aren't literally running money into the dirt all fall and winter. Also AND VERY IMPORTANT, your system should have a backflow preventer, sometimes referred to as a standpipe. You absolutely must be sure that this is property insulated before winter, and learn how to bleed it and shut it off when severe cold threatens. If a freeze hits and the metal valve in the preventer is damaged, the valve alone runs about $200 even if your husband can fix it. And again you would have water spraying everywhere and a huge water bill. You can actually order insulated backflow preventer covers from Amazon-just measure carefully to get the right size. Just tips from an experienced sprinkler owner.

I maybe have a soda a week while at home. These days, I’ve been drinking gallons of sparkling water. Costco has cases of 36 and I drink a couple each day, alternating with water out of the tap. The tap water is very good here.
Yesterday, when we went for breakfast, I had iced tea. This diner has excellent iced tea, and they’ll give you a cup to go. I should just make some, mom used to have a pitcher of it available all summer.

lurkyloo I've seen some edible glitter marketed for cocktails. It was near the tonic and other mixers. Fancy Sprinkles is the brand I've seen in store but I'm sure there are others. I feel like I’ve been over the contents of the local grocery store cocktail supplies in detail, so I may be resorting to amazon. The cake spray worked well on a trial run today though

Ditto on the bathroom being right off the kitchen is odd, and I've never seen a rolling dishwasher before-do you roll it across the kitchen and hook it up at the sink or what? Driveway is totally trashed Overall, I like the place The house was built in the 1920's. Houses built then do not have dishwasher hook ups or space unless they have been totally redone. Mom had a pull out dishwasher in the house I grew up in long after I left. It does the job of getting the dishes done. That house was built in 1960. In her 1925 house, there wasn't even space to put in a pull out washer so she had no dishwasher. Plumbing was not original to houses of that age. Much of the plumbing in 1920's house is right off the kitchen because that is where the water was brought in to the house. I have seen many bathrooms right off the kitchen in a house built in the 20's, 30's and 40's. I do like this house with all of it's quirks. They may have overpriced it for the market, especially without a garage

And talking about bathrooms: I may just single-handedly drained a small reservoir. I was taking a shower and I just could bring myself to turn the water off for the longest time. It was sooooo relaxing but there is no getting around the fact that CA is a desert state and I real!y should conserve water.

Treating ourselves occasionally doesn't keep us from being water-smart 90% of the time - you deserve the special treat. I did that night; after so many months of taking teacup showers before we replaced the sewers I truly enjoy a thorough rinse or using a conditioner.

It may mean that they won't entertain requests to fix anything discovered on inspection. I've seen that, in different language besides "as-is"

I did not notice that. That may be why it's been on the market with price decreases. People lower offers if they can't get things fixed. There may be more wrong with it than people are willing to deal with.

There may be more wrong with it than people are willing to deal with. I didn't notice it either. I'm not going to bother with it then. I was talking to the realtor of the weird house and he said he'd have another house that sounds like exactly what I want that's getting ready to go on the market. I left my number and told him to call me and I wanted to be the first to see it.
