This doctor says 40% chance of survival.
Dad disappeared again. I may have to call I'm not sure if he went for a walk or stormed out. I wouldn't blame him if he did.

I found him. I finally called and fortunately he answered.
Trying to see if me and Bob can figure out a way to rotate checking on him.
I can't do much for mom right now. I told dad I'm not showing up here just for her I'm here for both of them. Let me and Bob do some of the heavy lifting.

Every doctor has a different opinion. One doctor told me my relative would probably be gone in 24 hours, but he's still here & fighting. Not that the battle is over just yet. I knew he had fight in him, so we'll just take it all day by day. Hang in there NomoreDramaQ1015! I don't hear the "fat lady singing" yet for either of us. Just encourage your Mom, and if she's sedated, just whisper positive words to her.

Jess Elizabeth · 5h ·
Okay, so my neighbors have been complaining about my dog barking. I hate the electric zap collars, so I went on Amazon and purchased a humane citronella collar. When a dog barks, it shoots a blast of citronella under their nose and apparently, they don't like it. This morning I was getting the collar ready and filled it with the citronella liquid…And that's where my morning should have ended. But no, it's me, and I become curious as to “how” the collars actually work, so I'm standing by my back door "barking" at my dog's collar.
Nothing happens.
I make sure it's turned on, check the fill level, and go through the "getting started" check list one more time. Again, I bark.
Nothing happens.
Now, I'm not quite sure, why I had this next thought, but I did...I put the collar on. I seriously extended the band and fit the growl box against my throat and barked. Apparently, the collar only works if it feels vibrations, because I immediately received a blast of citronella to the face! I began coughing, which only caused the collar to continue squirting citronella spray over and over into my nasal cavity. I'm now on my hands and knees in my back yard, trying to breathe, and to make matters worse, the dog is barking!
So, between coughing and yelling at him to shut up, I've emptied over a dozen blasts of citronella to my face. During all of this ruckus, I'm trying to undo the clasp of the collar, which has somehow managed to weld shut during this whole fiasco! I finally get the collar off and threw, yes, I THREW that inhumane thing across the yard, and laid in the grass sucking in the hot humid air. In the middle of thinking this is probably the dumbest thing I've done in a while, I hear laughter. MY NEIGHBOR SAW THE WHOLE THING! He was laughing so hard he couldn't breathe. Between gasps, he tells me, "I was gonna come help, but every time I started to walk over, you'd set it off again and then I would start laughing and I couldn't make it."
So now, not only are my eyes red, but my face and ears are too. After checking to make sure I was ok, we parted ways and I went inside to shower so I wouldn't smell like ode de' Tiki Torch.
Lesson learned: next time (yes, there will always be a next time with me) I’ll make sure that:
1. Don't fill the collar before trying to set it off.
2. Remember my neighbor is not a good source of help in a comedy crisis situation. On the plus side, I won't have a mosquito problem for a few days!
3. I hate to break the news that it's a copied story that gave me a good laugh to start my day, so feel free to do the same. 😁
Have an amazing day!! 🤣
I so needed this laugh.😂🤣☠️

I looked up online, said the pool is closed on Sunday, tried to call, must have been old number. Others aren't sure so we just said tomorrow. I'm taking the kids to the city later to see if I can get swim belts.
Right now I'm cooking the barbecue and started cooking a pot of green beans. I had hubs take grandson to get corn and a watermelon. He loves both, so something good for he and us. I'm wondering if I can send them corn and watermelon. The melon would do fine, not sure about the corn. Maybe I could send it in a cooler of ice.
So tomorrow swimming and Tuesday fishing. Then Wed they are leaving hubs and little guy. My I'm going to miss him. I don't know if I will get my relish made or not, a long time to store cukes, the cabbage and peppers will be fine.

I found this about postal leases using a broker. What a crock. I'm betting they give them a bucket of money and anything they can save they get to keep. We have NEVER been charged a broker fee to lease to the postal service, ever.
How much Commission does the postal service charge landlords?
Through an exclusive arrangement, the postal service pays this brokerage for their services (~3% fees). However, this does not stop them from attempting to collect commissions from landlords of 3-5% on the gross value of the leases and lease options. No landlord is obligated under the agreement to pay any commission to any brokerage firm.
I am being pressured by a broker to pay a lease fee to renew my postal lease, BS! Hubs threw a fit, said forget the damn building we will let it set before I pay that. But me being me, says no, I don't think this is right. They are hemming and hawing now, so I'm going to have to get him to come around. I am going to see if I can get deferred maintenance money for a furnace. The rate is raising 20%, but I'm thinking it should have raised more than that.
I did find a letter, an earlier version of the one they sent supposedly from the USPS. My postmaster is getting nowhere on this for me. So I'm doing my own research.

All I know in my very limited experience is that drs were absolutely wrong about percentages of survival with those around me. Families are going to be pissed either way. Can you imagine you were told you beat cancer..that you were cancer free, only to die from it about 8 weeks later? And that was with a 77% survival rate. Can you imagine being told you have 2-3 years, but then you end up with 9. That would piss me off as well. Thankfully, my parents did not chose to live like there was no tomorrow, in some respects. Otherwise, my mom's financial situation could be a lot worse right now. And, then in the last 3 weeks of my dad's life, when he was first admitted into the hospital, they were all behaving like he was going to pull through. I thought they were nuts. Also nuts that they didn't suggest transferring him to hospice until he was hours away from death.
My grandma should have died much earlier than she did.
Drs cannot 100% accurately address individuals based on aggregate numbers. You just don't know with certainty. No one knows. I guess that's my point. And it would upset me, personally, to hear a doctor give me a statistic they cannot guarantee will be 100% accurate.
IMVHO, the answer is to not fault drs for being unable to fortell the future with 100% accurracy. The answer is to not ask them to do so in the first place.

Why? Corn isn’t on yet here, usually later in Aug, but large swathes of WA are also agricultural. There are farm stands everywhere. Right now, I have local berries, cherries and peaches in the house. No watermelon, as DH doesn’t care for it and I could take or leave it.

Thank You! And I would add unless the family asks Don voluteer it. I do not fault them for being honest about her condition. Do not throw out the damn statistics. People are stressed enough. This isn't poker keep your stats to yourself.

I got my dad thinking he killed her then agonizing over if we made the right call.
Read the fucking room and don't throw out statistics. I was fine with his discussion of her condition and we're not under any delusions.
The number was salt in the wound. It wasn't needed. Have some God damn compassion.
And someone read her damn chart and explain the full picture! I was very close to punching a doctor when one got attitude with me when I expressed frustration over the piece meal way we are getting informed and how that makes it difficult for us to have talks that need to happen.
He was like well we're all specialized and I Don handle that it's another team you need to ask questions.
I'm starting to get the signs warning you to not assault doctors

While I don't like a lot about Indiana, there is no comparison to the corn, melons, and tomatoes grown here. They are all outstanding for sure. I know son and wife would like them and also her sister and family. Yum, yum.
So we will send them, remember, he was an Indiana boy, LOL! And little guy loves it all!!

Spent a couple of hours at the river before it got over 100 degrees. Rest of the day will be self care. Working on a pedicure (and watching the O's game) while my head cooks right now. After that is done I will make my healthy lunches for the week. DH is working and won't be home until about 8. I hope I can stay awake that long.

When my Grandmother had what ended up being a fatal heart attack, she was airlifted by helicopter to another hospital that is the only hospital in the area that does a certain procedure for patients like her. The “procedure” was to basically freeze the patient and gradually warm them back up. I don’t remember why and how that was supposed to work. But I do know I was horrified when I went in my Grandmother’s room and saw her while that was going on. I won’t describe exactly why I has horrified by what I saw. Anyway, I was with my Mom and Aunt when they finally had a chance to really talk to one of the nurses later that evening. A nurse was sent to talk them, not a Doctor. They asked questions to really understand the “procedure” they were doing with my Grandmother. They also asked what her quality of life was likely to be like if she survived. Which was more than likely a “vegetable”. As far as the procedure, it didn’t involve “fixing” my Grandmother’s heart because of her age, 85yo. It was just to keep her alive right then, and my Mom and Aunt agreed that my Grandmother would not have wanted that, and they said for them to stop. It just so happened that one of my best friends from high school worked on the floor my Grandmother was on. I called her and asked her to PLEASE talk to me like her friend, not as a nurse. I asked her “even if my Grandmother survives this, it’s just going to happen again, isn’t it, since they can’t “fix” her heart. My friend said yes. She also shared with me that the the doctors and nurses were upset that my Mom and Aunt told them to stop the procedure. My friend said she told them “this is what we say we want, for people’s families to be involved in their care. Well, this is an involved family that agrees on what the patient would want, so what’s the problem”. Out of respect for Drama, I won’t get into the next few days. My point is that, in most cases, I believe it is better for Doctors to be honest, even if the truth is hard to hear. But I understand how giving a timeline is not always accurate. If they feel pressured to give one, they can say it with a disclaimer, so that the family understands it’s only a guess that could be way off base. My family wasn’t asking for a timeline with my Grandmother, FWIW.

I'm sending it to our son too. He likes things like that.
So tonight, barbecue pork sandwiches, green beans from the garden, and hubs went and bought corn on the cob. He let little guy help shuck it, he was so excited because he did it.
I vacced the house, are the cats shedding and I mean shedding. I brushed them both and got a ton of hair off. I'm sure with this heat they are really shedding. They loved being brushed, couldn't get enough of it. If hubs saw all the hair I swept up he wouldn't be happy. And to think all of that would be in the carpet, some would be vacced up but most would just stay or on or in it. I bet I could sweep it again and get a lot. Now I have the kitty room and DD's room to vac and the litter boxes to clean, need to go do it.
Our one tenant locked himself out again. He lives just a mile or so from us in a little community. Very safe, noone ever has anything taken but he locks the car, locks the house. He is always locking himself out of one or the other. So, hubs is driving down again to unlock the door, LOL!
I need to bake some cookies tonight, I think sugar, don't think I have any chocolate chips. Hubs likes oatmeal and they both like peanut butter too. I think little guy likes them all. I may get busy before the evening is over. I haven't even gotten dressed today. Was going to the city and changed my mind, the kids didn't even care.
