I love it! But it could be a $$ pit to maintain with a yard that size. FYI, it is on septic. Too bad they filled in the swimming pool.

Yeah! The Mystic show is on! They had a late cancellation just yesterday afternoon and I snagged it. So we're good to go next weekend. Have fun! Where in Mystic is the show? When I lived in CT we would Attend the art shows there.

Plus the utility bills are probably pretty high. It's just such an interesting house that I want to walk around in it. The weird bathroom with no walls thing definitely makes my antennas go wild.

Speaking of antennas, I just killed an enormous spider. I hope it's the one that ran from me last night or else there's another one. I really don't like living next to the woods.

I have so many questions.... do I start with the pool, or the shower in the middle of the bedroom?

Filled in pools aren't all that unusual around here. People get them then decide they're too much trouble/expense to maintain. The curtained off bathroom area in the bedroom is a new one for me though.

I've seen filled in pools but you would think after doing that you'd want to do some landscaping instead of leaving your backyard a concrete jungle with a very obviously filled in hole in the middle.
And why is there a sink the middle of the bedroom when it looks like there is already a sink with the toilet? That is driving me insane more so than the shower.

Mayhap they expect someone to buy it for the land and tear the house down? idk. then they might have either multiple lots to sell or they may use the land for Multi-family development. But, It looks to me like there is plenty of room to create a bathroom with walls there. Obviously, they were caring for an invalid in that room. They may not want to assume if a potential buyer wants to remove the bathroom and use as a family room or such or wall it in and have a full bath on the first floor. I don't blame Andi for wanting to check it out. We will be awaiting your report.

Probably money (or lack there of). I have all kinds of landscaping projects I want to do. I also had a sliding door to nowhere on the side of my house for 24 years that raised a lot of questions.

What sort of pre-paid-type cell phones do people recommend?
Our oldest is 10, and we've been thinking of leaving her home alone for 30-60 minutes at a time. However, we do not have a house phone. (we do have a line and number as part of our internet/tv deal, but I've never used it).
She also goes on the occasional sleepover, so we thought about getting a pre-paid cell phone that could act as a house phone and phone she could take just to call/text us if she needs to. I don't think a data plan would be necessary - just texting and call minutes.
Is a tracfone the best option? I have no idea what else is out there.

Carrot's phone is $15/month for unlimited talk and text and 5Gb of data (they don't have any no data plans). It uses T-Mobile's towers so depends on what kind of service you get with those.

We have tracphone and Ting.
I like Ting. If I don't use a lot of data, I pay like $15 for two lines, one smart and one dumb phone. At worst, I pay 25 or so a month.
We've been pleased with Tracphone.
We also still have a house phone. Shockingly, the house phone is the one thing in our home that's never gotten lost or whatever. You can also do a find my phone for it.

RATS! Or maybe just one rat, I don't care -> RATS
Last Friday I saw a rat run across my balcony (shudder). It wasn't that large as rats go but it was clearly a rat! First thing I did was going on Amazon to get rat poison. Alas California does not allow that stuff to be shipped here. So I contacted the maintenance people in the HOA and they promptly send someone over. Closed a potential entry point into my unit and set traps (it was Tuesday by then) They've come to check the traps and today there was a rat in a trap! Trap is reset and they'll be back to check on Monday unless I call them before that. Like I will open the storage area this trap is in at any time. There is nothing in there that I need right now, and even if there were, I'd just get in my car and get a new "whatever"
My trinity of fears consists of snakes, fire, and RATS. I'm freaked out right now
ETA: I don't need any education about how rats are good for xyz or how cute they actually are. I want them gone, gone, gone!

Just loaded up my bar with all the mix-ins for DD11's 12th bday party tomorrow in rainbow order no less. I forget which poster mentioned the idea but DD was all in when I suggested it in the aisles of Walmart so thanks! Her neighbor friend bestie was over yesterday crafting and saw the bags of stuff and was super excited as well. Later I overheard her say 'your mom is the best because she lets us do cool messy stuff!"
Why yes I am cool!
Meanwhile DD16's first solo drive was to drop bonus teen off at work, so winning on less chauffeuring for me. Today her second solo drive is to the library <cough, nerd alert> but I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have been kind of busy (including with, but not limited to, freaking out) but I don't remember when I last saw a post from Weltz? I hope she is doing well and I have just been inattentive. Be and stay well weltschmerz

After breakfast I changed the AC filters and ordered 4 more sets of them, changed the towels to wash later today, and cleaned the toilets. I watched a bit of the equestrian events too.
I think DH and I settled on an idea for the grill/griddle issue. Weber makes a cast iron griddle that would replace half of our current grill top area and it's only about $125. That way we can #1 see if we like griddling and #2 keep grill space open at the same time. Even he said that he liked the idea of grilling a steak while cooking veggies on the griddle side. I just don't want to spend too much on something that will go "poof" if we move to an apartment.

Question: The assisted living facility wants me to order a DNR Bracelet.
Line 1 has to have my mom's full name. It allows for 4 more lines. What would you put on the additional lines? Does anyone have any experience with this.

Nothing like a contentious internal call on a Friday afternoon. Risk management lady keeps asking if we're giving clients a 'blank check'. But she won't slow down from listing all the client's 'sins' and just outline the contract language that she will approve. This issue isn't even actuarial but I've been driving it because it's way overdue and my client is irritated that it's still outstanding. Blowing off the rest of my day once I finish.

I'm going to start drinking every time she says 'blank check' bc she's just doing it to be contentious. Neither I or my sales partner said give the client the world. We simply need her to write down a reasonable negotiation starting point.

Sitting on the plane waiting to take off. After back to back trips, I'm ready to be home for more than two days. I upgraded my seat to first class for a few miles. I never fly Delta so might as well burn them.

Well I'm back from the specialist appointment. Knee replacement surgery is probably in my future but for now I chose to go for the injection in the knee for pain. Right knee has bone on bone, left knee does not. I don't have money for rent yet, and right now I wonder if its possible to get alcohol delivered. I wish!

Could use your stories of successful or unsuccessful knee replacement etc.
