Checking in. Leaving for Michigan today. Staying two nights in hotel rooms and then staying with another friend in Grand Rapids that offered. Lucky me!! My one girlfriend offered but she doesn’t have ac and I stayed in her house one night years ago and almost died from the heat. I don’t know how she does it. I used the excuse of that I needed to meet people early the next day so wanted to get closer to them. I’m not doing Frankenmuth after all. Staying in GR until Wednesday and then heading to N Carolina.

Good morning, active and analytical invisipeeps, addressing to-dos in your lives. Welcome to Thursday. I hope you find this day satisfying and that it offers prosperity and peace to you and yours. And that no one pees on your pancakes, of course. Today, the 1st of August, I will put in orders for the prints and mat display sets for the 8 days of shows we have scheduled already, with another 3 expected before the end of the year. Spent hours yesterday figuring out which pictures to order prints of and in what sizes. We're making a few changes, showing matted prints only on one wall while the other two will display the finished pictures. Plus viewers will be able to leaf through matted prints and if they see something they like, choose a size that we'll have on hand. I'm hopeful that will work well.I need to pick out two framed pictures for a gallery show in a week. I have 4 out at 2 different galleries now. Yesterday was heavily overcast and pending rain for most of the day. We did get a short downpour. In the early morning the clouds on the horizon hid the sun but you can see its promise in the edges of the clouds: That sounds like a great idea - many of us have a hard time visioning what a framed work will look like and your display will help them see how the framed print will look in their home.

I renewed my Peacock subscription yesterday. I did premium for $139 for the year, no ads. I hope I don't regret it. I won't regret the no ads but maybe the $. I can’t figure out how to switch to annual. I was monthly before, without auto renewal - so it had expired. When I re-upped is when I got the annual option.

We stayed with one family member many years ago on a hot Summer night, and the house was so hot that I couldn't sleep. Safe travels!

I sold mine for $50. It had the iron top and even though I greased it with lard, got rusty. The new ones are nonstick, they came out right after I bought it. I did fajitas on it too. So I bought a stainless steel top to put on my grill and I think that will be better, only 1 item to mess with instead of two. Just got it before all the moving so haven't had a chance to use it yet. I did some today, not till after 3 though. I wanted to see how hot the house was inside. It wasn't bad with 2 fans and all closed up. But I would say with all of us there and cooking plus showers and all it would have been hot. It got 89 out today, I need to take a hose and water plants, I need a sprinkler. We got our first water bill!! 748 gallons of water??, $63, ouch, $15 for new fee. I need to see what minimum usage is. I saw an old rusted saw and limb cutter out back plus an old hose that needs to go. All the shrubs need trimmed and one needs to come out, also weeded, but not going to happen for awhile. She left a lot of great big pots, those are expensive but all the plants in them are dead. Those need to come out and something else planted in those, maybe just clean them for this year. I would love to have the whole back patio enclosed for a catio but doubt that happens. It's enough room the cats would be happy and they could just stay in. I did hang up 2 suitcases of clothes and am doing another one tomorrow. Got the pieces of boxes out of the living room. We have all kinds of cut up boxes and tape we packed things breakable in. I found a purse so I don't have to carry what looks like a big backpack, now people won't' look at me in stores like I'm taking things. It's fine for traveling but not for shopping and its darn heavy. Now if I could find one of my bags of shoes, I want my sandals that I must have packed somewhere, should have been in my suitcase. I had to go in the drugstore, I'm getting fever blisters on my lower lip so bought Abreva, yes, I masked and was in there a minimum amount of time. Went through the drive through at MCD's for DD, sanitized my hands before and also masked. That was it for today. Wasn't over there but about an hour and a half so didn't do much. Did manage to scoot my table around so it takes up less room, it looks good in there. but that was it, I'm too tired to do much so I didn't. They did not show up with my trash cans, hope they do this week as I need them. Once we thin some more its going to be nice there. DD's room doesn't look to me like it's ever been painted again, I think that is original paint so is awful and the floor coverings in those 2 rooms are awful, but will have to wait for awhile. Lots of little things need done there but we will get to them a little at a time. So I came home, going to get my bath, that's it for today. Here I just did some laundry, one day I need to sweep, but not today I'm tired. Blackstone must have discontinued the non-stick stuff because everything on their website is cast iron. I don't think non-stick would hold up well at all under heavy use with metal utensils and high heat. If we get this, I'm making DH do all the work of seasoning it repeatedly before first use as they recommend. Sorry you had to take a big loss on yours. I'm going to look around at other brands before we buy anything because the Blackstone reviews online are terrible, everyone talking about damaged and missing parts, big cost to return, and a 10% restocking fee. At $1600, I'm not going to play games like that.

This is the one I would want blackstoneproducts.com/products/select-36-griddle-w-cabinetsThe cheapest one at the sporting goods place was $599. It didn't have an enclosure for the propane tank and I think the cabinet would rust through within 2 years since ours sits outside year-round. I'm also going to look at a new Weber unit where I could have a grill plate on one side and griddle on the other

I have no desire to stay somewhere that lacks a/c either. I would rather spend the night in a hotel any day. My Nest App is no longer working. DH saw his friends who own an environmental engineering company. They originally gave him the Nest Thermostat. So DH and I have thermostat wars sometimes. The other day when he was sick, he wanted the A/C colder and I was like, hold on, I can do it from my phone. What are the chances he complained to them about me adjusting the thermostat from my phone and they gave him a new one so I couldn't do that anymore. I have to try to reset the thermostat when I have time someday soon. In the meantime, my thermostat has to be adjusted the old fashioned way. I gave in on the Assisted Living Contract. DS wants her there while she is still recognizing us and can still do things with her friends. He said once her memory is farther gone, we can move her to a memory care connected to an assisted living that is not as convenient for all of us. He offered to sign, but I told him from what the Facility Mgr said, I would still be expected to sign as HC POA and then we would both be liable. My DD is bored as a Flight Attendant, so she has applied for two other positions. One in Atlanta and one in NY. She said she would only have to stay in NY for a year, and then she could try to move.

I would go with the Weber combo. We have a CharBroil grill that is gas on one side and charcoal on the other. DH loves charcoal but we used to lose power regularly in the winter and charcoal does not do well in below freezing temps. I have a cast iron griddle that can be used if needed.

bean29 - Nest migrated over to Google Home a couple years back, they aren't supporting the app at all anymore. I had to migrate my stuff when I added a camera in my backyard. I'm not a fan. I am currently curled up on the couch watching men's tennis and pulling hard for Stefano Tsitsipas over Novak Djokovic. it's been a busy day so far. i cranked out some work emails this am, brought the pups to daycare a little later than usual and then I headed north to get my hair done. on the way home, I stopped for a delicious raspberry lime rickey for the drive and a sushi lunch once I got back in my home area. I've got an alarm set for an hour from now, so I can go pick up the pups then. I'm probably going to doze off, in my food coma. lol...

hi all! I picked DS up from camp this past Saturday. He had a great time and already wants to return. He made a friend... a nice skater-type girl who insisted on giving him her number TWICE. They've become pretty chummy since they got home. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I thought I had a couple more years before all that started. Also, fun fact: I was starting to come down with Covid on the ride home. THANK GOD DS is fine! But I was suffering Saturday night through yesterday big time. I barely logged into work all week. This is the first day I'm attempting to do anywhere close to a full day of work (or as much work I can do when my brain is still mostly useless). DS's birthday was 2 days ago and I couldn't see him or do any of the birthday things we had planned. But we're rescheduling everything. It still sucks though. Hopefully y'all are good.

Yes, it is big, but the only one I found with the SS cabinet. I'll be looking at a lot of different brands and options before I pull the plug. Personally, I would be happy to stay with a grill only, but DH is ga-ga over the grill concept so I hope to come up with a compromise

I got a little flip with DH. He was putting shoes on to go cut grass. Mens 3x3 basketball was airing. He scoffed, rolled his eyes and said “they keep adding stuff. It’s not even full court basketball.” I said, “so? They are still athletes dedicated to their sport. Why shouldn’t they be able to compete?” He didn’t respond. That got me curious. The first modern summer olympics in 1896 had 43 events in 9 sports. The 1972 summer olympics had 185 events in 21 sports. Paris 2024 has 329 events in 32 sports. Times change, the world grows…<shrug> I am in IDGAF mood today. I’m struggling with the addition of break dancing. Really? I had no idea!

MJ2.0 Hope you have turned the corner on your Covid recovery and are back to 100% soon thank you. I'm feeling a lot better than before but cognitively I'm still very much unwell. Not sure what it's like in other regions, a couple of new variations are quickly making their way through my area.

So unlike me to have the tv on during the day but what can I say - women's gymnastics I’m enjoying the Olympics also But I saw some sport didn’t know what it was A single basketball hoop on a half court?? Looked like 3 on each team Whatever team got the basket in got a point? Looks like driveway basketball

Oh crud! DH has been exposed to COVID at work. Hopefully, he stays healthy and doesn’t bring it home. I’m taking AIRBORNE and immune support. you better add a head of garlic, silver bullets, and holy water because these new Covid strains aren't messing around! I tend to take Zinc with elderberry as immune system support. Have no idea if it helps, but want to remain Covid free.

I actually found myself laughing at the few minutes I watched. Then moved on!

I lived in the house when both TD and DS had covid and didn’t get it myself. When I had covid, TD and I were in 300 sq ft and he never got it. This is a strange virus.

Carrot camped with two kids with covid all last week, one tented with him in a two man tent for 5 of the nights while actively sick. Carrot is fine.

I have decades younger, vaxed and boosted healthy types who are on their 3rd round of Covid. DH and I are old, I'm fat and sedentary, and we are out every day among folks and so far have escaped it unless the "cough like a hyena for 30 days" we had last year was it (no fever, no headache, nothing except coughing).
