Thanks for asking! It's been a rough 48 hours, and right now I can't even go see him because it's storming here. But, the nurse who's working on him says he's the closest thing to stable right now. He's got a long way to go, but I'm just thankful for what's going right. Like, his blood pressure finally stopped dropping, and they were able to stop using medication to halt the decline. I'm hoping the storms will pass & I'll be able to see him tonight. The nurse even told me how to get in after hours, LOL. So, at least we're all on the same team. He could still use prayers & positive thoughts.

Hiding out in the guest room in the basement with DS and the cats. Tornados touching down just a few miles from us...and the sky is green...green sky always bad!! Green sky is not good. Stay safe and check back in when it's over

Got a few more things. I made a mistake in my lace sock. I pulled some of it out, but now I'm not sure I can save it all. Grr.
That's my last update for "As the needle turns,"

We have most of the school supplies procured for the younger 2. A costco run and walmart run should do it, except for gym shoes. I'll save gym shoes for closer to the start of the school year. I also may have bought several cross stitch patterns that were half off.
You sneaked that last sentence thinking we wouldn’t notice! You are close to making me start up with the Needle work every time I read one of your post. I am so glad that the four best places to get materials are are not on my beaten path so to speak.

Kiddo just announced to me that he’s staying until Monday. Unusual, since Mister has to work Monday, so I asked Mister about it. He said that’s what Kiddo told his Mom, so Mister told her he can probably stay, but he’ll have to see if I have anything to do Monday, because he has to work. And she said okay, just let her know. Whaaaaaat?! This is literally the first time EVER that she’s been okay with me being responsible for Kiddo because Mister is at work. Any other time, she has ALWAYS said never mind. I don’t have anything planned for Monday, so I don’t mind Kiddo being here with me while Mister is at work. I am just truly shocked that his Mom doesn’t seem to mind either. I guess she must REALLY need a break lol. He and I just need some kind of understanding about all this talking lol. He was just talking my ear off for about an hour straight and I finally said, wait a minute, wait a minute. He paused and I said you know what I’m about to say, don’t you? He started grinning and said no. I said, you know I can’t take all this constant talking, you’re making me want to take my ears off and go put them in a drawer in the bedroom. He laughed and said “You can’t do that! Your ears won’t come off”. So I asked “you got a lot of stuff you want to tell me?”, he nodded his head yes. I said okay, let me rest my ears for a few minutes, and then you can tell me some more stuff. He said okay and went to talk to Mister.

The facial and pedicure were nice. Gwen was really happy with it.
I liked being in a quiet dark room for 30 minutes with just the esthetician. Too bad it couldn't last longer.
I wouldn't mind doing another sometime.
Painted my toes orange. I like orange.
Not much change with mom. They are working on feeding her which I assume means progress to an extent.

Whatever hit MPL is now getting ready to hit us.
And, for those sitting on the edge of their chair, I did pull out my sock. But, I am going to try the pattern again. I only have to pay attention for 10 out of 64 stitches. It shouldn't be that hard. I also rewrote the pattern so I don't have to jump around a lot. It's an ankle sock. It won't take me long to gt back where I was.

I've seen green sky in Texas and here, but not very often. That is a bad sign.
I have been looking at my DNA relatives on 23 and Me, I now have 5000.
The surprise, well not really a surprise, I suspected it because grandma was way to brown. She said she was french but I always suspected Indian because of her cheekbones. Another relative on her side of the family gave me an early history way back into the early 1700's. They said there was an Indian woman married into the family from Canada which makes sense. My DNA said I have a C4 hapalog that indicates, yes a 24000 year old relative from Africa, but the unusual part is this came through part of the middle east up through Russia and Siberia and they indicated across the land bridge. It indicated this picked up asian and siberian along the way. So it's logical that they ended up in with northern Indian DNA. Now the mainly European parts from dad and his family was English and Irish and again from maternal grandmothers family french, and paternal grandfathers family northern European DNA. Of course all this goes through the female lines. I have one black guy so far, there may be more, have not gone through all the 5000. He seemed a little subdued about it. But I bet I know from where. Some like my gggg grandfather on the census in Virginia in dads family showed a shopkeeper and in his household he had a 14 year old young black girl as a servant or helper. No one else in the whole census town had such a young person. I hate to think what may have happened. I need to ask him how we are connected, but I'm hoping it's not in this manner. That is so bad if it is. I haven't looked back in all this for quite awhile, so I don't know what the next census says. Of course, a lot could happen in that time.
It is all quite interesting though, of where we came from.

At that point, I’m somewhere in the middle of the house, away from windows where I can see what’s happening. I’ve posted here a few months ago, while I was sitting in a chair in the middle of the house, while Mister and YD were roaming around like nothing was happening. I take that shit seriously lol. I’ve seen some weird looking yellow skies, but not green.

Here we don't get the real green sky that MPL gets, but we get this super funky lime green that pretty much says we are toast. Last time I saw it was 2016 and the hail storm took out our roof.

We're all good here. The wheat field was destroyed, but all buildings and roofs intact. I had to go to town right after to get Carrot who was coming back from camp up north and almost crashed into a bunch of boulders on the road that had broke loose on the dugway, but there didn't seem to be many trees or branches down in the area.

I don't storm chase but I don’t panic at all. It's when the sky turns green and everything gets quiet that you need to run.

No texts or calls last night or this morning. Dad was already gone when I woke up. We went to Krispy Creme and got free donuts for Gwen's birthday. She's 12 today. I told her don't hold it against me if I space. I very much want to enjoy her birthday but I have a lot on my mind. We'll pick up her cake in a half hour then head to the Old Market. Happy birthday to Gwen!

I head for the basement too. Not long ago the sirens were going off like crazy, DD and I went to the bedroom in the basement and the cats went down too. We have all our lights and extra batteries in a cabinet up here now. Finally organized that. I tried to get hubs to go down j, no way, we stayed down there till it was over, was pretty bad. He is stubborn, well I don't have a death wish so down I and DD go. That was the one that was about a mile away from here across the fields. It took out barns, travel trailers, turned over a truck and tore up buildings along the way. Took out a lot of irrigation equipment and over 35 light poles. We were very lucky.

It is all quite interesting though, of where we came from. I signed up with Ancestry several years back and what I saw confirmed what little I know of my family story. I'm a hybrid of English, Irish, Spanish. Of course, the Spanish thing brought in some Moorish influence. Apparently everyone was highly fertile because I keep getting notices about 3rd and 4th cousins on mother and father side. Don't use cheekbones or skin color to judge ancestry. I'm often mistaken as Asian because of my eyes and cheekbones but my DNA says no Asian. DH has a 2nd cousin with extremely dark skin whose lifelong nickname is "Blackie" and he's 100% Acadian ancestry.

Grandma's hair was coal black except for one white streak down it when she died and she was in her 80's.
My cousins have a lot of ancestry information but they are the ones that live close and don't even really acknowledge me. I saw one of them at swimming and spoke to her and she did talk to me some, she knew me. Next time she just spoke and kept walking. She did say a few words the 3rd time, haven't seen her since. I was from the poor family growing up and the youngest granddaughter so pretty much left out of everything. She and her sister don't even live 10 miles away.

I saw all these political signs and the name was for a guy that I went to HS with. He's running for judge. I know it's him because the last name is very unique and the first name is the same. I'd never heard of the last name before or since.
This kid came from absolutely nothing. His family was very poor. We all grew up poor, but we weren't at that level. He had to have put himself through law school because no way could his parents afford it. It made me feel good that he had such a good outcome instead of being in the streets hustling for money and going to jail or getting shot. I had forgotten the kid existed. It was a pleasant surprise.

Soup that didn't happen today, it was a couple of months ago for me.
Oh man, I have 3/4's of a 5 gallon bucket of green beans to break, I may have to can beans tomorrow and was going to make relish instead, sigh. I'm going to cook a mess of green beans tomorrow for us to eat. Wonder why they say a mess of green beans?
I looked it up, came from my Kentucky relatives apparently.

How Big Is A Mess?
35 Comments July 30, 2014
A mess of beans
In the last week, a few Blind Pig readers have been wondering exactly how big a mess of something is? A mess is enough for a meal. Here is a portion of what the Dictionary of Smoky Mountain English has to say about the word mess in regards to food:
A noun
1 A collection or portion, esp of meat, sufficient for a meal.
1913 Kephart Our Sthn High 98 I ‘low I done growed a bit, after that mess o’ meat. 1937 Hall Coll. Cosby TN The bear killed lots of stock. He wouldn’t eat but two messes out of a big’un and then kill him anothern’n (Neil Phillips) 1940 Haun Hawk’s Done 112 I started that day I sent her up yonder to Arwood’s branch to pick a mess of wild sallet.
I’m most familiar with using the word mess in regards to describing a quantity of vegetable or a quantity of fish that is sufficient for a meal.
