Waiting at the airport on my way to Germany. Kinds of excited. DS just got back yesterday! Did he enjoy it? I think that's great that he traveled so young. Well worth it!

Holy crap - they already called me. They have 3 purebred collies not listed on their site. I said we weren't looking for immediate placement but....

Nothing wrong with that on a Saturday. Weekends are meant for relaxing and putting things off!

I had to go to town to take care of an insurance issue, so that's done. Then ran by the grocery. I really like Aunt Millie's Potato Bread, that stuff smells great, freezes well and doesn't get hard on the edges. When thawed just like fresh, so I bought 6 loaves for the freezer, also hot dog and hamburger buns. Out here it's a real pain to run out of anything. The stuff is $3.89 a loaf but I told hubs, guess you pay for quality at times. I've never seen it on sale either. Don't know about the buns, never bought them before. We are thinking of hot dogs on the grill, fries, and salad for dinner tonight.
It's after 1 and 89 now and dumb me will be out picking maters and cukes, plus cutting cabbage, I will have a hat and gloves on and long pants as I hate to be itchy. I just never get up early in the morning.
Oh and on the meds, my neurologist said on the duloxetane, do what works for me. He has given me 20 mg, 40 mg, and 60 so if it gets worse I can go up. He has moved to Indi with IU med but I'm keeping him. My symptoms for neuropathy have improved. So he is leaving it up to me with instructions of what I need to do. We are going to do telemed and he said long as they don't get worse, I will see him by telemed 4 times a year. If I start getting worse I will go up to his office. And no I never had docs do this before, but I have 3 that say I watch my health well so they work with me. And everything I take is very low dose. For DD they just take my word, few know about Williams and since I am with her daily they trust my judgement. Of course, we have labs pretty often, she is on a heart monitor and glucose about every 6 months so they keep close tabs on her.
The PA's talked to her about moving more, her bp was 98 over 65 or so, way to low. After little guy leaves I'm looking into her doing something. I'm thinking even 2 days a week to the Y if I can get her in. We shall see. She got mad when I told her she needed to move more. Sometimes little guy is wise beyond his years. He went in and was talking to her. I heard him say now your mom is not being mean to you. She is thinking about you and wanting to help you be healthy. He is like a little "mom" at times with her. He gets upset if I get mad at her. He yelled at me last night and told me I could not talk to him that way when I told him to go to bed. But this morning first thing he said grandma I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. If he continues like that, a good kid. He is empathetic and he has told me several times, he really likes old people. He either has a line or is a sweet kid. I honestly think he is just a sweet kid. His parents want him to understand how others feel, so they have worked with that, especially kids that are different like his aunt. He told the cashier today, he got a candy bracelet for his aunt because she will like that. Love that kid. He always makes sure she is included in everything. Who knows maybe he will be a help to her one day, you never know.

Our community pool reopened today. They have worked their tails off with covid, rain, and everything trying to get it open. Also are leaving it open past the normal close date this year.
We had a community pool for 60 years, way past its life. So they used the same footprint I believe and have been fund raising for the almost 4 years it was closed. They got a million from the community grants not long ago that I'm sure helped. They are showing long lines today, we didn't try going today. I don't think may communities of this size have a pool. The kids sure needed it, I know I donated quite a few times because this is important. I believe the city is about 12,000? We also have a small convention center and they are going to build a hotel next door, we do have 1 on the outskirts of town, so in addition too. This mayor we have is a go getter, he gets every dime out there for the community. A dem that keeps getting re elected in a now red area.

I love potato bread! I buy Yukon Gold potato bread, which has a hint of onion in it. Delicious!

Just got back from the grocery store. I hate goin* on weekends, so went early and it wasn’t too bad.
Next week is supposed to be miserably hot (for us, we have no a/c) so am planning on mostly cold meals and using the grill more.
Stopped at the garden store to look at plants. They were horribly picked over, and I was never able to get our hanging baskets this year….lack of car didn't help. I was able to pick up some pots of lavender for the yard though.

I'm sorry not sorry that I started off this dog discussion!
I think our animal shelter is different in that they only really have seven or eight dogs at a time and nothing that really fits our life.
We are leaning toward a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon pup.

I still haven't picked up that book. lol... I found A League of Their Own streaming, so I ran a bath and have been soaking with a nice glass of wine and the movie streaming on my phone. during a commercial break, I popped on to Amazon and ordered a bath pillow. it will arrive Monday. I think now I'll fold some laundry that's been hanging out in the dryer the past few days, and call it good for the day. I can read til I wait on the water heater to refresh itself so I can shower.

Just some random, unrelated comments: Next month DS2 and his family (which includes my grandbabies) will come to visit. With all the luggage disappearing on flights DDIL was hesitant to check in the booster seats for the little ones, so she was going to order one just for the week they are here (boosters are required until 10yo in Germany and only 8 here in CA so one would be enough according to the law). Instead I called around and was able to borrow two seats for tbe period they are here. SCORE! Several of the Costco's around here are out of roast chickens due to supply problems. Eggs are limited in the amount you can buy. Really weird - this is the first time I have ever seen this Last but not least, at least for now we are escaping the furnace that seems to be cranked up around the world. Our high temperatures for the next two weeks are going to be low to mid 80s and with low humidity that is very pleasant. Night time lows mid 50s to low 60s. I know this will change in late August but for now I am enjoying it fully. Incase any of you are inviting yourself over - I have ONE guestroom and no yard - so first come, first served and the room is taken from the 18th

Pleas don't buy chickens from Costco. The wholesale club opened a $450 million chicken processing plant in Nebraska in 2019 in an effort to control costs, and the suit filed Monday in the Superior Court of King County accuses Costco of "illegal neglect and abandonment" in the facility. The suit alleges that Costco intentionally breeds chickens too large to stand on their own, and the "disabled birds slowly die from hunger, injury and illness." www.cbsnews.com/news/costco-rotisserie-chicken-animal-cruelty-lawsuit-claims/The chickens grow enormous breasts, because that’s the meat consumers want, so the birds’ legs sometimes splay or collapse. Some topple onto their backs and then can’t get up. Others spend so much time on their bellies that they sometimes suffer angry, bloody rashes called ammonia burns; these are a poultry version of bed sores. www.nytimes.com/2021/02/06/opinion/sunday/costco-chicken-animal-welfare.html

If you treated a backyard chicken like that, you'd be arrested for animal cruelty, yet Costco does it to millions of birds.

I've picked tomatoes, cukes, cabbage, bell peppers. Some tomatoes aren't ripe but I picked to finish on the table outside, otherwise they will have sun scald from the heat and sun.
I'm going to make relish, only got a few orange bell peppers, so have yellow, orange, and red in the fridge and frozen onions to add, didn't raise any this year. Also a few fresh to use, forgot to buy more today.
I'm buying little guy sweet corn and watermelon, red because he loves both.
He went outside with me for awhile and said grandma I just can't stand the heat, hubs says that's silly but he turns beat red. He isn't used to it, I get him out once in awhile, the pool would be good but he is so light skinned. It's 89 with 72% humidity, I get hot and come and cool off, but it doesn't bother me that much.
I see the high is 75 Monday and cloudy, so I'm taking him fishing that day. Maybe to the pool tomorrow, we shall see. But both kids want floaties and don't have any and I don't want to drive to the city to get them. Just the ones for their arms or back. I'm sure Academy does have them.

My first reduced shot of Ozempic, not sure how quickly the reduced dosage will take effect. Yes, I'm nervous, scared to death I can't keep my eating reduced. I'm going to give it hell though. And I really worry about DD, she is eating quite a bit right now. They have not reduced hers yet. Mine is likely because I am hypoglycemic and also, I'm guessing they only got it approved for so long. But low blood sugar has bothered me only once while on it, they claim it smooths it out. I have no idea.
Ok going out to pick bean and pull turnips. The old guy I was raising the turnips for passed away the other day. I need to see if someone will take some. I like some raw but not all that many. And going to cut another cabbage, they are huge. It will go into my relish, have a few zucchini from a neighbor to add to it also.

4 to five weeks
The half-life of Ozempic Injection is from 4 to five weeks. So, after you stop Ozempic, it will take your body about five weeks, after your last dose to completely clear the semaglutide from your body. This means that the common side effects will last up to 5 weeks. Now I know.

So far today, I have made scrambled egg instead of custard, determined that agar is not a suitable substitute for gelatin in a bavarois texture wise, and forgotten that my one cookbook really, really overdoes it on the sugar. My meringue was fine till I went to add the extra sugar it thought necessary Washed everything and backed away slowly from the kitchen.

We are leaning toward a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon pup. It look about 6 months before our local shelter had the type of dog we were looking for. I found it, texted TD at work and we met there to check her out. We were 4th on the list for Harriet, but the 3 others before us turned her down.

DS just got back yesterday! Did he enjoy it? I think that's great that he traveled so young. Well worth it! Yes!
Prague and the Swiss Alps were his favorite. He was in Berlin, Munich and a few other places.
I agree it was worth it. Especially since he's not on the 4 year college track, he could end up settling down earlier.

DH fixed breakfast so I got an early start on laundry. I helped him clean some hard-to-access areas in the main bedroom, and dusted several rooms. Tonight is an easy fix - bagels and lox with cream cheese, capers and red onions.

We use them in beef soup, beef stew, and with corned beef instead of potatoes. We also enjoy them cubed up, simmered in water until tender, and topped with a little butter. And pickled turnips are the best thing ever.

We have most of the school supplies procured for the younger 2. A costco run and walmart run should do it, except for gym shoes. I'll save gym shoes for closer to the start of the school year. I also may have bought several cross stitch patterns that were half off.

I'll echo soupandstew -> stay safe MPL!!! Green sky would scare the bejeezus out of me. On an another subject ,, my bucket list just got shorter by one item. For years I have wanted to go look at Great Whites in a steel cage. Just moments ago I saw some footage on CNN of new shark week footage with a Great White attacking a cage with a diver/swimmer. The man survived without a scratch but it was touch and go and he had to swim for his life. Now while I can swim and keep it up for an hour or so, I am a sloth compared to his Cheetah! So f* that: I'll be content with sharks no closer than my tv.

Please don't buy chickens from Costco. <snip> The chickens grow enormous breasts, because that’s the meat consumers want, so the birds’ legs sometimes splay or collapse. Some topple onto their backs and then can’t get up. Others spend so much time on their bellies that they sometimes suffer angry, bloody rashes called ammonia burns; these are a poultry version of bed sores. The same is true for your Thanksgiving turkeys and probably for most commercially-grown chickens. You want cheap? It comes at a price. When I find that someone is vegetarian I'm always curious about the reason since there are so many good ones, and if it seems right, I ask politely. Cruel treatment and breeding of commercially-raised animals is one of them. I can go for weeks without eating beef, poultry or pork although when BF and I go out for Mexican I'll get something with shrimp. It's partly the cruelty, partly health benefits, partly concern over what they feed them. On an another subject ,, my bucket list just got shorter by one item. For years I have wanted to go look at Great Whites in a steel cage. Just moments ago I saw some footage on CNN of new shark week footage with a Great White attacking a cage with a diver/swimmer. So f* that: I'll be content with sharks no closer than my tv. A family member (son of Ex's cousin) who was studying marine biology lost a leg to a shark attack while studying in Australia. He was severely injured and wasn't able to continue in that field and became a physical therapist. I swam with giant manta rays off Hawaii and went on a boat with people swimming with whale sharks off Mexico- didn't go in because the water was on the cold side and I preferred to save my water excursions for snorkeling among the tropical fish. Plenty of lovely creatures with which you can share the water without being eaten.

I've been watching Shark Week and, while I am fascinated and in total awe of them, my awe does just fine watching TV or going to the aquarium. In my stupid teen years I lived on the beach and spent a lot of time in the water. With the wisdom of age, I no longer go into water that isn't chlorinated
