Yes. If they both accept, then I pick one. It's been a looong time since I bought, but back then you had to give an earnest money deposit with the offer and if you backed out the seller got to keep that. I don't have to put down the earnest money until I have the one I'm going with. This is the 4th and 5th houses I've bid on and I haven't paid anyone anything yet.

Thanks. I've decided that if I don't have anything by the end if the month and it's still on the market, I'm going to make an offer on the Tullis house.

I'm still locked out of my laptop, so I'm hanging out in the backyard with the goobers. I'm trying to drain the pool so I can clean it. I found a dead mouse in there earlier when I first came out. 🤮 what level of cleaning does the hivemind think I need for the empty pool? Lysol or pine sol maybe - nothing major. I don't know what your pool is made of so I would be leery of Clorox. Just flushing with water would probably be enough actually unless the mouse had been cooking in there for a week Concrete or vinyl liner? I’d be ok with Clorox wipes too if it’s concrete pool. Those are long chain quaternary amines so mostly greasy (like a good detergent) and concrete is basically crystallized silicates (super polar). worst case they might adsorb temporarily. If vinyl I’d test whatever on a corner or out of sight area first.

I'd hate to bleach that out if I don't need to. FWIW, the mouse was fully intact. it was tiny, so probably just a baby that hadn't yet learned to swim. it definitely wasn't there for a week, but I can't say whether it was there yesterday or not.

Just finished Bob Ross painting with Kiddo and DH. About to hit the shower and then start dinner. Burrito bowls tonight.

I don't know how big the pool is but DH always says "the solution to pollution is dilution" and 1 tiny dead mouse didn't create enough bacterial load from decomposition IMHO to create lasting contamination

I can make an offer without earnest money. If the seller accepts my offer, then we move to contract and at that point I have to put up the $$. With most sellers only accepting offers from pre-qualified buyers, they aren't too likely to lose out in this market.

Bleach. If you haven't used bleach, it's not clean IMO.

I use full strength vinegar to clean cage items as its safer than if not enough bleach is washed out. I also have tea tree oil, so if it is in a certain spot you can dilute it down or a drop for full strength hardcore.

Said Hi to the chinchilla today. Convinced my friend to take me to my doctor's appointment and because of traffic etc. he missed his window for other stuff so I asked if we could pop by the Pet store on the drive back and get Crestie some crickets because he's depressed. Will split the bag in half in an hour or two. Spoke to the chinchilla which may have been the same one, IDK. But he popped out of his new blue hide listened to me talk and then jumped on top of the blue hide before I left. There was a new even bigger Chinchilla wheel in there. Also, blue tones. Very puffy when he was sitting on top of the house.

Went to pick up some local blueberries. $1/lb if you pick, $2 if they pick. We are going to be gorging on blueberries while they are in season now.
The road out there was shut down for construction so we needed to go a rather convoluted route. There is construction going on everywhere. We passed a deli that I heard good reviews about for rubens. Bought 3, they were ok but not the best I have had.

Ran errands this morning. Trying to cool off enough for dinner. Mowed the lawn and it's 104 out there.

In a group text with DH’s family. One family member had a procedure today that was successful. One person commented, “thank god for modern medicine”. I think I rolled my eyes so far, that I can now see out of the back of my head. His family are Trumpers, whom I am almost positive are anti-vaxx, anti-mask, Covid-is-a-hoax. The hypocrisy is real.

I bought a pair of knee-length leggings. Beautifully made, and won't fall apart after washing. A perfect fit! I took them home and see that they're Extra Large I'm 118 pounds. How can I be an Extra Large? Is a Small for someone who weighs 40 pounds?

Finally broke my mom's concert postponement curse last night. Pat Benatar was AMAZING!!!! Mom hasn't seen PB live in almost 43 years, when she was in her ninth month of pregnancy with me. As the story goes, the concert was August 10, I was due the 21st, and they almost didn't let her in the venue. Mom prevailed, and my birthday ended up being September 1. We saw her maybe 11 years ago-so enjoyed it! You could tell she was pretty done with her 80s hits after 30+ years but she still gave them full effort. Guilty as charged of singing “we belong” soulfully into a hairbrush Probably multiple times but it’s hard for we old folks to remember the deets. "Promises in the Dark" is my drunk "give it my whole bad self" song.

oh, fuck no. 😳but for real, we were about that far away the other one) from a local commuter rail track when I was a kid, and the whole house shook when the trains went by. you could always hear it, too. no way that house doesn't have highway noise.

From that distance it might not be that bad. If there's no off ramp right to your neighborhood then you don't have to worry about traffic. With how many blocks away the highway is and all the surrounding trees, you probably won't hear more than soft background noise. Friends of ours live right off 95 in Philly and I love the whirring of cars driving by when we're on the roof deck, and there isn't an on/off ramp close by, so their neighborhood is pretty chill.

So I am kinda stoked to try my hand at making ricotta gnocchi this weekend. When I made lasagna last weekend, I couldn’t remember how much ricotta I needed, so I picked up two 16 oz containers.
I looked around online to see how I can use up the extra ricotta.
So, I am making brown butter sage ricotta gnocchi, sauteed mushrooms, oven roasted carrots, and coriander crusted salmon. I hope that I can find wild salmon. The flavor is vastly better.

I did a pork loin and roasted sweet potato (one big potato, which we shared, topped with brown sugar butter).

You forgot to sprinkle some cinnamon in that sweet potato! 😉

So, it’s a Friday evening, and I’m boring and work weekends. But what do y’all have planned for the weekend? Respectable stuff, or pure shenanigans, I’m here for it all. So what y’all got going on for the weekend?
