I felt absolutely horrible at the burden I put on TD when I was dealing with my nightmare. I wa a boat anchor to him, I could do absolutely nothing other than sit on my ass. He was working too, ridiculous hours and often had to go back to work after dinner for a few more hours. I wonder if some of this is gender related? I busted my butt to not be any more trouble than I was, even when he washed one of his pens in a load of my shirts and every single shirt I owned out here was ink stained. I didn’t say anything, just went online and bought more. I would say yes. It is part of the reason that I was thinking about canceling my hair appointment but decided not to. It was ingrained in me early to not be a pest and do whatever I can to make things easier for people around me - including neglecting myself in order to do it. ESPECIALLY neglecting myself. It was what was expected from me. My brother has had no such expectations put on him. I don't like to cancel appointments at the last minute. I consider it very rude. I forgot an appointment for a manicure recently and I mentioned to my hairstylist who goes to same nail salon that I felt bad and had tipped extra to make up for it. She did not seem to think it was necessary, but she was royally pissed b/c the nail tech had her last appointment down for the wrong day and she has to block out time for her nail appointments. She had blocked off maybe 2 hours where she had no appointments. Nail tech had her down for following day, but she had appointments scheduled next day. She went accross the street and paid more to have her nails done. She is back at the original salon now. Andi- I like the last house you posted. I always scan for above grade/below grade sq footage. This house is about 1200 above grade and 1100 below grade. It has 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 in the "lower" level or basement. I like what I see, I am assuming it was originally a 3 bedroom and one bedroom was converted to a 1st floor laundry room. 2 bedrooms are supposed to be harder to sell. When I was younger, they kind of said to avoid them b/c of resale reasons. I doubt that is still true today with so many single working people like yourself looking for single family residences. On the house with a sub-pump. I was going to tell you yesterday that in my subdivision our houses would not be up to code if they did not put in a sub-pump. My house is pretty high above the sewer that the sub pump drains into. the pipe to the sewer goes straight down. B/c of this they said the sub pump was not needed b/c it would never turn on. The inspector made them put it in anyways b/c it was already speced in, and it was code.

I am overwhelmed, I have never seen so much stuff in my life. I am putting good stuff out now, good leather purses, and just anything and everything. As hubs said we can take it all but where can we put it?
If we had time I would have another sale but we don't, so back to pitching, donating, and trashing. Samn, I will NEVER use shopping for therapy again. This has broke me. I have bought NOTHING but food and pet supplies since we started this. I am going to curtail spending on stuff. Sure we will need things like medicine cabinets or items like that, but I'm thinking about it before I buy it.
Hubs was in the same position, he literally boxed stuff up and sold it for $1 to get rid of it. What a waste.
Now I'm working on clearing the pantry, fridge, and freezers.

Not that it really matters to anyone affected, but it was Crowdstrike, not Microsoft, who included the bad line of code that created the issue.

This one wasn't plugged in so didn't get the update. And my old one is so old windows 7 that it says cannot install so I should be safe.
I need to get back at it. I sat down for a few minutes to check messages and delete those.
I just found out the seller left the butcher block table in the kitchen. It is such a pretty feature, not something I would have ever thought of adding. The seller had good tastes. I bet they didn't have room either moving to an apartment.

Made it home with all my blood in my body. The gabapentin finally started working at the end of the appt. Of course. She was good though and even let them clip her claws and pull a nasty mat off her butt. The perils of being a long-haired cat. Unfortunately, my car is now so.ehow covered in orange fur. It was blowing around everywhere!
So I wasted a day of PTO when I could probably have gotten it off anyway due to the Microsoft update? Damn it!

I just tried to buy gift cards at BJ's. They wouldn't scan due to the IT debacle.
My personal laptop is fine. I paid bills and bought baseball tickets this morning with it.

My work laptop worked fine today. I had to do a Microsoft update a couple of days ago but knock on wood, it’s working fine now.
I’m actually on PTO for the rest of the day too (worked half day from home). Now to get some things accomplished when no kids are home. I did need to pick up DD1 at summer camp though but I still have about 3.5 hours until then. 🙂

o.m.g. DD sent me a text with a link to a news story about someone we know being arrested for killing a woman in a motel room. We have known him and his family since he was a child. He has never been a “street” kind of person, or shown any inclination toward being violent. I know that for sure. He went to the military after he graduated from high school, and came back home a few years ago. He has been to my house where I live now, several times, as a welcomed guest, after he got out of the military. I know there were some issues when he was growing up, and even after he came back from the military because his stepfather didn’t always treat him as well as he should have, and made a difference between how he treated him, vs the children in the home that were biologically his. I could share a lot of details about what I know for sure, but since this has made the news, I don’t want to say so much that I out myself enough to make things easy for people that don’t already know who I am. This has really wrecked my nerves. I read what he told the police happened, but given what he said, I can’t even say it was self defense, which in my mind, is the only acceptable reason for killing somebody. I am SO sad, and really, flabbergasted. My nerves are SO bad right now, and I am seriously struggling to not cry. I feel so bad for whoever the woman was, and her family. And even if people judge me, I also feel bad for him, because WHY THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?! I also really feel bad for his Mom, who I know too, because I can’t imagine what it feels like to have a child do something so crazy. At least as a parent, you understand that if your child lives by the sword, he or she is likely to die by the sword. But he wasn’t that child. So again, WTF?! My nerves are well and truly wrecked right now. several years ago a relative of DH's was arrested for molesting a preteen girl. And come to find out, that wasn't his first rodeo. I never would have pegged him for a pedophile, and i would have let him watch my hypothetical children at the time. So yup, you never really know anyone.

The computer debacle is affecting my workplace as well. My laptop is fine because it was not hooked up to the network last night. The office desktops are all showing the blue screen of death.

Finally broke my mom's concert postponement curse last night. Pat Benatar was AMAZING!!!! Mom hasn't seen PB live in almost 43 years, when she was in her ninth month of pregnancy with me. As the story goes, the concert was August 10, I was due the 21st, and they almost didn't let her in the venue. Mom prevailed, and my birthday ended up being September 1.

Did the grocery, bank and post office this morning and then cleaned the bathrooms. I am now in a raw fish coma from my sushi lunch. Later is laundry and dinner. I am delighted to say that Monday night's scheduled meeting was cancelled in lieu of collaboration via email .

Trying to catch up, I was mostly out of service range for the past 24 hours.
Drama, good luck getting the interview set up! Sending all my get out of that company mojo!
Andi, I wouldn't be bothered by a sump pump, but I also live in an area where they're a normal part of most basements. Our house didn't have one until 2021 when we installed an internal French drain and sump pump. We are uphill and out of the flood zone but we do have hydrostatic water pressure issues. The prior owners just disclosed that the basement gets wet with heavy rain and we didn't see any puddles until almost two years after we bought the house. In 2020 it started getting worse and I finally found where the water was coming up. We have had zero water issues since we did the basement waterproofing. We were out of the country when Ida hit and flooded our town's entire riverward neighborhood, but a friend feeding our cats checked and let us know our basement was perfectly fine. That was our first major test of our French drain and sump pump. Every time I hear the sump pump now I just think about how glad I am we finally have one.

I put on offer on the two KS houses. Let's see if I get one. If I get to pick, it will probably be the granny house. It needs the most work, but has the most space. I won't be mad about only being able to get the updated one. I won't have to touch it for a while. Fingers crossed!

At some point during the night, I woke up enough to realize that the big body laying next to me was not Mister, it was Newbie laying on top of the comforter. I went to bed before Mister did last night. When I talked to him this morning he said I was already sleep when he came to go to bed and Newbie was already on the bed. He tried to make her get down without waking me up, but she wouldn’t budge and he got tired of wrestling with her, so he and Boy just went and got in the other bed. He thought I must have told her to get up there. I was like “Really?! You know how I am about dogs on my bed”. Idk what made her decide to do that last night. I didn’t get bent out of shape about it, but I don’t want her to do it again.

6. I have 2, he has 4 now. If it helps, we have 7 Although only 6 of them are currently running. There’s a car gathering tonight that DS wants to go to-right after his camp, at an ice cream place. I have been tasked with driving one of the 1993 muscle cars to pick him up while DH gets the Vette and its working AC since he’s coming straight from work. Just took a spin around the block in the ‘93 car so he could acquaint me with all its current quirks: the e brake doesn’t work, the turn signals don’t auto-cancel, can’t put it directly into 1st gear without sliding the shifter into 2nd first, the unlock button is a little wire lever bc the plastic fell off, and I cut my finger on a sharp bit of the door grabbing at it after whacking myself in the glasses DS loves those cars. Ngl tho, DH looked pretty hot bending over the engine with black stuff all over his hands in white shirt business dress Yes, that helps.

I'm still locked out of my laptop, so I'm hanging out in the backyard with the goobers. I'm trying to drain the pool so I can clean it. I found a dead mouse in there earlier when I first came out. 🤮 what level of cleaning does the hivemind think I need for the empty pool?

I don't know what your pool is made of so I would be leery of Clorox. Just flushing with water would probably be enough actually unless the mouse had been cooking in there for a week

We saw her maybe 11 years ago-so enjoyed it! You could tell she was pretty done with her 80s hits after 30+ years but she still gave them full effort. Guilty as charged of singing “we belong” soulfully into a hairbrush Probably multiple times but it’s hard for we old folks to remember the deets.
