Good morning, you (invisible) beautiful people of Y Ma'am. Welcome to Thursday. I hope this day treats you with care while you are carefree and frolicking. I'm not an expert light packer nor am I someone who takes every pair of shoes I own on a one week trip. Funny thing, we met some friends while we were on a one week get away and for some reason I mentioned I had 3 pairs of shoes with me. One man in the group laughed and said he owned a total of 3 pairs; the other 2 that he was not wearing were in his closet at home. Went back to sleep this morning after I realized it was raining and so going to the beach was off. Now I have a low grade headache that I'm hoping Excedrin kills very soon. Got to take Franklin the Dog to the groomer. Yesterday I finally saw the sun rise, after 2 weeks of grays on grays.

I am an expert level packer. My grandmother was REALLY good it and I inherited that skill. Then I married DH who is a chaotic packer and realizes he needs to do a load of laundry right before we're going to leave. I want to leave at 5 am so we can get there early and have plenty of time left in the day. DH claims he is in "vacation mode" and flits around till around 10 am when he decides to finally leave. Gwen has said she is surprised we haven't murdered each other.

Good morning.
We are finally getting rain. We went a few weeks with forecast rain that never materialized. According to the 10 day forecast, we are expecting rain every day. We'll see.
Glad you got to see some sun yesterday finn.
The older I get, the less I tend to pack. I haven't flown since before Covid, and I am reluctant to do so any time soon. When I travel, I wear the same thing for the outgoing and incoming travel days. That leaves out the need for at least one outfit. I wear jeans, so packing different types of pants in different colors isn't a thing. I choose no-iron tops so I don't have to fiddle with that at the destination. I don't wear makeup anymore so my personal care packing is pretty minimal as well.
Since I work from home, there are really only 3 pair of shoes I cycle through. Hikers, sneaker/walking shoes, and whatever pair of Clarks sandals I picked out for the summer season. I still have a shoe bag full of terrific shoes that I am loathe to give up, but the reality is that I will probably never wear them. I need to find someone with small feet that might like some.
My must have packing is equipment and cases for my processors, and back-up batteries for them.

I am not an expert level packer, but I have developed packing lists for the annual raft trip, going back to Illinois during winter, etc. I do not pack too far in advance because I have never had that level of clothing that I could pack early and then just toss a few things in the night before. Any medications or super important stuff travels with me as a carry on. I prefer to just go with carry-on luggage but sometimes you have to pack differently. Flying a wedding dress into my wedding was an experience in itself. XH and I actually settled into a good packing and leaving hotel rooms with all our stuff protocols. He would check us out and I would do the final sweep to check if we missed something.

TD just pays the credit card bills. I have abused the Costco card this morning. 7 hotel rooms, a rental car and flight from Dublin to Bordeaux. I should have jumped on the Bordeaux part faster because we were booked out of some of the less eye watering hotel room rates. I did book us a small apartment after we get off the river cruise which has a kitchen. It was cheaper than a hotel room, there is a grocery store not that far away and by then we will probably be sick of eating out. The one thing that I didn't account for is we get booted off the ship in the morning and we can't access the apartment until 4. I'm not sure what we can do in the 5 free hours where we will be hauling luggage - including wedding clothes - around. I'm hoping that since my sister is leaving Ireland right after the wedding, and we are hanging around for another month that she can bring those back with her. Is there a train station, bus station, hostel or someplace with lockers where you could stash your luggage? Thats a thought. I’ll have to see what’s around city center in Bordeaux. Thanks.

You're not being nosy going to an open house, that's what they have them for! Well, maybe if you're looking at 2 million dollar houses when your budget is 200K, but otherwise...not nosy. Thanks for the justification. 🙂 It's a nice house and maybe it could be a contender. I wouldn't call it one without seeing the bedrooms though. We ended up buying our house after attending the open house when our agent was on vacation. The listing pictures were HORRIBLE but the description of the house roped me in. If you refer to the gorgeous original hardwood floors (house built in 1911) and exposed brick wall in the kitchen, why no pictures of those obvious pluses?!?!! I ended up calling our agent as soon as we went upstairs and she wrote a poolside offer.

Finnime -You picture from yesterday is gorgeous!. I looked for your post this morning when I woke up about 6 am Central time and was a little concerned that you had not posted yet this am. You are usually one of the first to post.
I have a cold. I don't have a temperature, so hopefully it is not covid. I am staying away from my mom though.
DB took mom on a tour of the assisted living facility we are considering, and she is good with it. She actually remembered she was there yesterday and told me she liked it and was fine with going there.
Question for Drama and anyone else that has ADD. Do you use any of the apps for your phone that are supposed to help you break down you to do list into tasks and keep you on track? I know you have mentioned Drama that you have a method, but not sure how you manage it. I am not diagnosed with ADD, but the more I read about it/hear about it, I think I have undiagnosed ADD. I am getting some FB adds for apps that would help me manage it, but I am not sure if they are worth it or not.
The other question I have is for those of you that have Trusts, what is in your trust, and if you have any assets outside the trust what is it, and how did you choose? Can you put your 401K into the trust? I plan to try to set up a trust soon. Just wondering if we put all our assets into a trust and then one of us needs to go into a nursing home or memory care facility how does that work? TY

My brother's packing rule is to make sure you have your wallet and everything that can't be replaced at Walmart/Target/drug store.
Bean I haven't seen the apps but I find if a thing has multiple tasks, I need to break it down that way on my to do list.

I didn't get up till 10:30 this morning. Hubs went to get a haircut so the house was quiet.
I woke up once in the night and was up about an hour then had no trouble going back to sleep. I went to bed last night at 9 or 10. But had to get up and down with potty breaks, have done that the last 2 nights. My neurologist upped my duloxetine dose, so wondering if that had something to do with it. Still I got much needed rest.
I just had bacon and eggs with juice, am dressed and ready to get to work. I hope to be more noticably productive today. He The day is nice out so far 72, far cry from the 91 the guys were killing themselves in.
Property is listed. Broker called and our trucking company is ready to come, so things are moving along.
And last night I even got the litter boxes cleaned!!, poor kitties, I had put them off a few days. House is vacced again.
Hubs fixed the Genny on the motorhome. He had worked and worked on it and finally figured out it was just the starter. He ordered the wrong one but he told the guy he needed it quick and they sent it overnight. He said that fixed it! So $800 for new batteries this morning, think they have only been replaced twice since we have had it and I hear it running out there. Once the house is emptied, I think he is going to use it here, I'm not sure until he can get at the other house. That is to be seen.
Last night we started getting a bit grouchy at each other but I was so tired I just ignored it and that passed over. So far we are going good, hope it continues.
Ok, to work, I feel so much better today!! All of you have a good one.

TY Dc isn't dx but we have used some of the apps to help them stay on task/get through routines. They're for kids so I can't recommend a specific one, but the idea of finding the to-do method I think is what was important for us. I use lists, spreadsheets, journals, dc has liked apps and journals.

Last night I came inside before Mister did. I was standing in the kitchen when he came rushing through. I asked what was wrong. It was a snake on the deck! I said “wait, what kind is it”. If it was a King snake, I wanted him to leave it alone. But I don’t want them on the deck either. It was a baby I guess. I couldn’t really see it, because of where it was, I could just see that something was moving. But if it was a baby, that means there’s a Momma and some siblings somewhere. Oh dear! Trying to grow vegetables had made me better understand the roles bugs and snakes play in nature, but I’m still afraid of them. I just don’t want to kill ALL of them anymore. The few snakes we’ve seen in the yard have appeared to be King snakes. The one that snuck up on me in the deck was not. It had some kind of diamond like pattern. I didn’t try to get a good look at it, just looking at them creeps me out, even if it’s only on a picture. I still haven’t gotten over the darn wold spiders, now a darn snake again. Sheesh!

DH has way more energy than I do. I do what I can, and a lot of it is effective and also complementary to what he does. But at the end of the day I can’t keep up with his energy level long term and have significant physical backlash (migraines etc) if I try, even medium term. Then again, DH is a certified freak of nature. You handle a lot. Mental load, kid load, kick ass job on bare minimum days. I know we only see what we each put out for each other, but your low energy seems like more than enough. It’s self serving to say we’ve missed you after this comment, isn’t it? Too bad: we missed you!

TY I mostly use my anxiety to compensate Routine is super, super helpful. I feel like apps could be helpful but don’t use them myself (and would definitely do my own research rather than Facebook ads). To do lists are great, especially the mini hit of dopamine when you check things off.

Did a quick phone screen today for the analyst job. Hopefully I gave good answers and make it to the hiring manager. I'll know sometime next early next week. ETA: I was able to answer yes to the things she specifically asked if I had experience in. I am hoping 18 years experience counts for something. It hasn't really counted since I left the university.

I have never used an app. I try lists but then I lose my list. I am hyper strict about routine and very rarely stray from it. I also have a preferred way I tackle things. I go for "low hanging fruit" or easier/quick tasks first to get me into a groove and save the bigger/harder things for when I am ready to really knuckle down/focus. If I try to do the big stuff first I get overwhelmed and my executive functioning shuts down. I have to trick my brain into feeling good about itself first with little rewards.

I am making progress, boxing, pitching, donating, but mainly organizing. Getting boxes stacked, fragile lamps boxed, doing good. It's looking less and less like a hoarder house with stuff everywhere and anywhere as it had gotten. Most cabinets are emptied. I'm hoping I have enough time this weekend to clean all my cabinet doors and wipe out the cabinets so they will look nice.
I was beginning to wonder if I could ever pull it all together. Hubs is mowing today, so he will be home soon to help.
Going to go buy us some lunch and donate a few things.

Woke up this morning with my eyes itching like crazy. I have 3 different eye itch drugs to use, but strangely enough, the cheapest seems to be the most effective.
My sister received the first of the 5 dresses she ordered for her daughter’s wedding. It’s ok, not my favorite. Ironically, it’s the exact same color of the dress mom wore to her wedding.
SLAP tonight is at the Cider Company. They have a nice patio that overlooks the bay and it looks like it’s going to be nice out today, not too warm.

If I try to do the big stuff first I get overwhelmed and my executive functioning shuts down. I have to trick my brain into feeling good about itself first with little rewards. I can make a list like a champ, but I am horrible at the follow through. Mom will be moving to assisted living soon, so part of my load will be gone. No more grocery shopping, and the screening her mail should be easier b/c I can just have it go to a PO box or just forward it to my house. Maybe I can return to sender all the Fake Political Surveys requesting donations. I really don't want that kind of mail forwarded to my house. I will still need to take her to church at least every other week. I also can shut down her Business, so I won't have to file state tax reports anymore. My personal stuff is getting backed up - as my DH has his own business, I have to do the accounting and I am way behind. I also am behind on cleaning my house. But I need to catch up my taxes, and see an attorney and a CPA to get will/trust/and a SEP IRA plan for DH. We make too much $$ for him to do a conventional IRA so that is the only option.

We are home, okay we got home Sunday from a week in the Up MI visiting my aunt. Going from weather in the upper 70s to the 100s was not fun. Overall the vacation went well. The kids all decided against the mining tour so it was just A and I, so we upgraded to doing the one with the rappel and swinging bridge walk. It was nice having someone to do it with, I would have done it solo, it was just nicer with him. His son didn't come out and do much with us, but all the girls went out with us on several adventures. It was nice to see the cousins too. 2 more weeks of summer break for me, so trying to get all the appointments in I can.

I like it but it says 3 bedrooms, and I don't see a third on the floor plan. Lots of carpet, I don't like carpet anywhere so that is a me thing. I would like a picture of the stair case in the dining room, to see if it effects function.

So the Tullis house keeps coming up in my mind. It's really nice. It's also completely remodeled and the same price as this NJ house. It's probably equally as far from downtown KC. It's cheaper to live in MO, so it seems like a no brainer. However it has a sump pump which I think is keeping people (including me) from buying it. What do you all think? My parents say that they have one with no problem, but they don't have a finished basement. What are your opinions on having a sump pump. I've been staying away from them so far.

Looks like they just added the stairs and another door and were using as a dining room.

I have a sump pump. It's been the difference between having to use a shop vac/dehumidifier vs having to get a pump and snake a hose out into the street when our basement floods.
We've never had any issues with it and the thing is older than dirt. The only "issue" we had is DH ran over it's pipe with his law mower and snapped it off so the water was coming right back in.
I had a temper tantrum and finally got him to fix it with my dad's assistance so now it releases the water towards the storm drain in the street which is where we want it to go.
