I prefer the 2nd house on 65th. It's not on a busy street, and you won't need to do any work on this house. Just move in & enjoy. Same. Love the house and the greenery behind it!

Wow that is an incredible amount of home for the money! If you buy this one, I hope you keep the pink bathroom just for historic preservation, it is so groovy! Yeah, both are counting below grade living area in the total sq footage, but the first house is +1600 sq ft on the first floor, and the second is ~900 sq ft. So the first one is giving you a hella lot more living area.

I really like the mid-century mod vibe of the first house and I love the cabinet color in the second house. Both seem like good choices!

I will now fantasize about the spiral your current supervisor is going to go into once you give notice. “Finally! ….wait…now who’s going to…oh fuck.” That was actually the first thing out of someone's mouth IRL. I picked what I consider to be a fair date, even taking other people's vacations into consideration.

Also, congratulations!!!!!! < Imagine tons of dancing bananas>

I like the 2nd one better as well. I am not a fan of low pitch roof, but that is just me. The 2nd one is move-in ready. All you would need to do right from the start is fence the yard.

I'm so tired, I took a tylenol PM last night, I woke up at 11.The guys were doing other things this morning so no pressure. They just got here and are starting to pull things out in the drive, we will cover with tarps till Saturday.
I can't do much today, need pain pills, everything hurts. My left wrist has about a 6 inch bruise from bumping something, so there is that.
Good deal on the jobs ladies, so happy for you. Working somewhere else can make a difference. I was abused for a long time and didn't realize it, you have to look out for you. The best to you.
Waiting for an insurance quote, later all.

I'd pick a date that would totally fuck them over. Being professional rather than scorched earth is generally a good thing…but man, the temptation. I confess there were aspects of leaving my last position that I thoroughly enjoyed, particularly blindsiding supervisor. He had magnanimously offered to give me a good reference, knowing him it did Not sit well that I got a great new job without needing his input in any way shape or form. Such a control freak. I did everything by the book so he couldn’t even get mad about it. I enjoy it more that way.

I have completely lost track of this week. Every day has felt like Monday. Really. DH made fun of me yesterday because he asked the date to write a check and I asked him what day of the week it was. I seriously did not know. I never know what day it is. When you're retired, every day is the weekend.

I like the second better than the first. I like it too, but I like the first one better. I'm going to see all 3. Fingers crossed! I think the first one has more potential...especially if you wanted to eventually be all on one level. More space, bigger garaqe... but I like the yard on the second one much more and it's obviously a recent flip judging by the older picture on Google street view so everything is new and you wouldn't need to do anything (unless they did a crappy job on the updates).

So I went to pay my 941 Payroll Deposit for tomorrow's payroll, and I got an error code. I cannot figure out how to look up what the error code means. To log into my account there is a que. I have number 4,258 in the que and the line is paused. Once my number comes up, I will have 10 minutes to log into my account. I think the problem is that I have to use ID me for work and personal reasons. It looks like I need to add my work e-mail addy to my personal account. I might have 3 or possibly 4 accounts. Personal, DH's business and a business I have and my work. Of course, work has 3 businesses and I only have one e-mail addy for work. LOL. This is going to be a mess, and apparently there is nothing but a bot on the ID me site to answer questions. Good think the work taxes are not due until next Wednesday. Going to lunch.

Needing to make a batch of shrimp salsa for this weekend. We are going up to Salmon Arm for TD family thing. Got a reservation at the B&B we have stayed at the last few years. Hopefully, we will get the same room too.

Houston is gradually and painfully returning to life. The power folks estimate they will get another 300-400,000 folks up today and as many tomorrow. The final 400,000 will be next week. I'm really praying we are in the today or tomorrow group as my neighbors are suffering badly.
The downside of the city returning to normal is more traffic on the roadways and we still have more than 500 traffic signals that aren't working. It's the Wild West when they are working, and now it's pure insanity out there.
There's only been a few incidents of looting and, following the ambush death of a sheriff's deputy last night when he responded to a possible looting, the cops are hair trigger as are most armed residents, which is most residents.

I spent today cleaning and running errands. My in-laws will be staying with us to go to the estate auction on Saturday; even though we aren't going to bid on the real estate there are plenty of antiques for sale. I stopped by the bank and got a letter with our balances just in case we change our minds and decided to bid.
My in-laws air conditioning has been broken for two weeks, and they haven't been able to find someone to come fix it. There is just one guy in their area and his wife had surgery so he's not working right now. I hadn't realized it was still not fixed, so I called them up and told them to come early and bring lots of clothes so they could stay until they find a repair person, but they want to borrow our old window units to take back with them instead. We held onto our old window units when we had central A/C installed.
My mother-in-law is insisting that the heat isn't that bad, but my father-in-law has pretty much moved into his workshop where he has a mini split system.

Traffic signals being out was one of biggest problems during one of our hurricanes. And we are nowhere near as large as Houston. That and so many service stations without power so no gas. I feel your pain since we went thru a Cat 4. We built house in area that had just gotten city water available. But the other 8 houses on our street all had well water. We hooked up four hoses and ran them to next door neighbor so they could use what ever they needed. They had 4 kids. It’s been 40 or so years but still flash back when reading your updates. Hoping things get back to “normal” before to long.

Got the OT reduction email today. Starting today, no OT unless pre-approved. I emailed my boss to ask how particular they were. Like, is it drop what you’re doing at 4pm even if you’re in the middle of something strict? Or is it we don’t want people working 10 hour days or coming in on weekends. He said no OT and unless it was extremely urgent he wouldn't approve it. Crap. I don't think I've had a paycheck in years without at least 3 or 4 hours on it. That's gonna hurt right now. Plus...I guess I have to leave a half hour early today. My hours are 7:30-4:00, but I almost always get here by 7.

I'm broker than broke. I wanted to take Melody and Simon to the Cirque de Soleil for his birthday on the 18th. I couldn't pin Simon down for a date. I tried and tried, and he kept telling me he'd let me know. He didn't, so I got fed up and just renewed his CAA (Triple A for you) for his birthday. Well Melody was really upset, as she's dreamed of going to the Cirque her whole life. They've been fighting because he ruined it for her. So, I bit the bullet and ordered tickets to the Cirque yesterday. This birthday cost me over $600. Fuck.

Soup, I hope you get your power back soon. I had no power for 3 weeks during the Great Ice Storm of 98. It was in the middle of winter, and I was trying to heat up cans of soup over candles. All my tropical fish died due the cold. Couldn't go anywhere because the streets were blocked with massive downed trees. I know what a pain in the ass it can be. Good luck.

Weltz I'm sorry about the costs but hope they enjoy the show. I've been lucky to see several Cirque shows and they've all been amazing.

So I just got back. I'm going to put in an offer on the Barber house. The 65th one was an obvious flip which is nice, but one of the bedrooms was tiny. I can use it for an office, but I don’t know that I trust it. Plus the house next door was trashy. The 55th house was nice, but the street was busier than I'd like. It wasn't a main road, but still kinda busy. The yard was not wooded necessarily. There is a tree smack in the middle of the yard and the neighbor behind it has trees along their fence which makes it appear wooded from the satellite view.

Well, we just got a huge thunderstorm - 3-1/2 inches in 30 minutes so electricity repairs have stopped and all the streets are badly flooded.
I had just laid down to rest my back when the storm blew in so that was that. Three days of raking, chopping and bagging tree debris has left us both pretty sore but that's okay, we're just Icy Hot-ing on a whole-body basis. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised how I limbered up if I just pushed through the initial pain.

After Sandy in NJ, gas stations were required to install generators so people could get gas for cars and their home generators.

I really do like the Barber house - it just seems more open with a good flow than many others you've shown us. And neighboring properties look good too. Good luck on this one.
