I have completely lost track of this week. Every day has felt like Monday. Really. DH made fun of me yesterday because he asked the date to write a check and I asked him what day of the week it was. I seriously did not know.

I think I just moved into I have to take this job no matter what territory. This is really bad. While it sucks to HAVE TO take a job, remember that it is one that you REALLY want to take. You may not get everything you hope for but I trust you will work it out.

countrygirl2, I feel your pain. Several years ago, I'd begun to go through all of our stuff, and had a pile of boxes in the basement that I'd put in the corner that I'd already gone through. Now, DH never helps with this sort of thing, but he got a bug up his butt that he needed to move a bunch of stuff before a repairman arrived, so he totally messed up my system, mixing up the boxes I'd already gone through with a pile I hadn't. And I'd spent HOURS going through those boxes. I really need to go through everything, but it has just knocked my motivation to the bottom of the list for dealing with that stuff. Sometimes it's amazing we let them live.

I didn't sleep. It doesn't help that I have Jack Harlow singing "I'm vanilla baby" non-stop in my head. I should have taken the meds. I thought I could do it without. And I am regretting that I didn't. Today is a faux day off for me. I don't even know why I pretend I can take PTO. I mean. Officially. I can. I have time to use. Legitimately. I seem to recall that my supervisor once had a similar work load to what I am experiencing now, and they couldn't handle it. So, of course they got their work responsibilities lightened.
Why am I expected to handle the work load and even more? OOoooh man I feel that in my bones sista!

I think I just moved into I have to take this job no matter what territory. This is really bad. As you guys told me it doesn't HAVE to be a forever job though I completely understand academia/public service is a different beast career wise. To me as long as you are not getting yourself into an even worse situation take the out. You can always keep looking or set yourself a date to decide you're going to start again after so much time in the job so you can evaluate it. Think of this job as a reset button to catch your breath and recover from the toxicity of your current position. These kinds of things really skew your world view as I am sure you are aware. You need time to be in a healthier workspace. That is how I am viewing things. I've heard things about the one place I applied for but the "pros" for me personally at the moment outweigh those negatives. I am REALLY hoping they call me. It doesn't have to be my forever career. I can take what I need from them and move on after a few years if I so choose. All of this has really beaten into my head I need to stop looking for a career and just look for a job. We may have to sacrifice a pawn or two to get to the queen. Right now you need out. That is a bad thing in regards to how toxic your current job is. But is a GOOD thing you already have an out in your pocket. It may not be the ideal out but you've done a lot of mental math and it appears it will work and that it is overall a better move for you. Take the out because you don't know when/if you'll get another one. Another one may come down the road later after you've successfully gotten out of your current position.

I think I just moved into I have to take this job no matter what territory. This is really bad. I have never been good at leaving a job just because it was the right decision. I always seem to need something to piss me off enough that I basically say “screw this” and leave, just shy of burning it all down. Blessing in disguise or not, your current job has been stressing you out, underappreciating and disrespecting you, and continuing to add and add and add to your workload-for years. Get out of that pot, the water’s damn near boiling.

Wow that is an incredible amount of home for the money! If you buy this one, I hope you keep the pink bathroom just for historic preservation, it is so groovy!

I like the second one's kitchen better. I think I would go insane trying to cook in the kitchen of the first house. It has a very strange lay out to me. The second kitchen is more spacious and flows better. I am having a hard time passing up on the idea of a Barbie bathroom though.

Supervisor has been on a tad of a mansplaining kick lately, and has lived to regret it. No, I’m not asking if this is a “magic diet thing”, I’m asking whether it’s a potential sign of mitochondrial dysfunction although that’s normally hyperthermia rather than hypothermia. Did it again last night by ignoring my subject line and lecturing along those lines…collaborator called him out very smoothly on that one with a “As lurkyloo originally noted”

I have my start date folks. We just need to sign the paperwork. The scheduling is just fine. There is a good amount of flexibility. This is just about as unicorn-eque as I can get.
I had a more real convo with the new job than I've had at any point in the last several years at my current one.

They think it is cool and will not allow me to update.

I didn't even look in that area because I don't have Johnson County money. I just randomly decided to check and it came up. You can't by a house there for under $300K unless it's either tiny or awfully dated. If it's all cosmetic, I'll do it. I'll just go room by room as I can afford it. I'll do as much as I can myself and hire what I can't do. I can come paint. I thought I hated painting the first couple of times I did it at my first house. But the last time, I learned how to do it correctly, bought good tools, and spent part of my 2 week vacation painting. I actually found it kind of relaxing and enjoyable. I got up before sunrise every morning and had all my stuff ready by the time the sun came up, played some loud music while I was working, and was proud of myself every evening for what I’d accomplished during the day. When I painted at that house, I had to learn how to cover the bright turquoise color DS had chosen for his bedroom, so I could paint it a lighter, neutral color. And because I was painting the walls in the rooms varying shades of gray, I had to learn a bit about color theory, to understand undertones and how the natural and artificial lighting was affecting the colors I wanted to paint. And I also learned some of the practical and technical skills of painting, just so I could do it right. Then I had to get creative (and I am not creative at all!) and figure out how to make 2 different colors work on a shared wall from my living room into my hall, over a doorway to my den. And I did it and made it look good. It is one of the first things people noticed when they came in my front door, and people asked, who did you hire to do that? ME!!! I did it it!!! LOL! I am not boasting, but I am a pretty good non professional painter lol. I did the same thing when I painted here a few years ago, while I was in vacation. Soon after I met Mister’s Mom, when she saw the rooms I’d painted at my first house, she asked how much I’d charge her to, paint some rooms at her house. A milllleon dollars! LOL! Because if I’m doing it for money, it feels like work, but if I’m just doing it because I want to, it’s relaxing as long as I can listen to my kind of music. I didn’t know her well enough at the time, to just WANT to paint rooms in her house. So the amount of money it would’ve taken to entice me, would’ve been more than the cost of a professional painter. And I am not a professional, but I did learn how to do things correctly and got really good at it. But you are my Internet friend that I wanna meet IRL anyway, and you like to cook, and I like to eat. You are only about 6 hours from me by car, I know that because I had to go to KC a few years ago for my side gig. So I could probably be persuaded to come help you out, in exchange for getting to meet you IRL and some good meals. You gotta leave me alone and let me play my music while I work though lol. You're hired! You can paint and I will cook. I'll make you whatever you want.

I prefer the 2nd house on 65th. It's not on a busy street, and you won't need to do any work on this house. Just move in & enjoy.

I actually like the outdated one best that andi showed from last night. It is a house where you can slowly update it and she said it's in an area with higher home values. So it's value would likely go up.
Of the two today. I would go for the 2nd one. It appears not to need much work.

Speaking of the devil I just got an email about setting up a phone interview for that job I was just talking about on here.
This is an interview where I am 100% confident. I am damn good at what they want from a candidate. I AM a technical expert no matter what my god forsaken current managers seem to think about me.
It doesn't mean I will get the job but I am confident I will make them seriously consider giving it to me.
ETA: My resume speaks for itself. My references are excellence. I am NOT an unmotivated sloppy POS that they act like I am here. I am hoping that this place will see that and want to snatch me up.

It's my favorite out of the three. It's dated, but still nice. It has everything I want other than a walkout basement. If I see this one and it's good, I'll make an offer today.

We have a predicted high temp for the next 4 days of 105° F. (Real temp) We hit 104°F yesterday . It's 80° already, at 8:54AM today.
I need to wash my car. But it's so hot!
I didn't sleep at all, last night, so I think a nap is likely, sometime today.
