Opti, if your toilet was made in America, it should have a shut-off valve., usually behind the toilet on the left hand side. This is how they can make repairs without shutting off ALL the water.

MPL, people don't have pet opossums with those sharp pointy teeth do they? (Trying to remember if I was going to have salad or other veggies with lunch. Toilet interruptus. ) Opossums are actually really docile. Their main self defense is to look vicious and if that doesn't pan out to play dead. But, most states don't allow you to keep them as pets without a permit. They don't live long either. Maybe 2 or 3 years even if in captivity. This lady runs a rescue and always has Facebook videos of her taking her possums to get a pup cup from Starbucks.
My mom has several that she takes care of in the wild. They have heated cat houses on her porch for the winter and she feeds them cat food year round.
I like Elmer.

My shutoff valve is extremely hard to reach and was too tight. I am going to find the wrench I had sitting in the bathroom for a couple months after that debacle. (Need the wrench to actually shut the valve. My hand strength is not enough.)

How am I supposed to sleep with the constant sound of the 23094rq304tydfsfh toilet running!
I hate people. I hate myself for not locking the door and saying its not a good time. I did not enter a ticket for the toilet again nor other stuff. He just showed up. Probably to pretend to rescue a damsel in distress. Instead just caused this damsel more f&^%&^ issues. Turn off your water. I fixed it for now by removing the black ring he put in the tank, or whatever he did. Does not look like a toilet part. But I will find the wrench after COB. Off to find potential rides to the doctors and suck up going through the primary doc I chose for now since the knee is a physical failure. Hopefully she and my employer can understand.

A lot of them do not. Some have shutoff valves on the lines coming in, but most of the places that I have lived have not had those either. Whenever their was an issue, water to the entire house had to be shutoff. They were replaced with shutoff valves in the places that I have owned when there was an issue.

I should know better than to ask, but why wouldn't she just let the maintenance guy in to fix it? I'm sure I'm missing some details as I only see what she posts when others quote it. but come on. nevermind, forget I asked.

It's getting quite dark. I hope it rains a bit. Not a downpour.
House is clean. I'm happy with my current cleaners. Very happy.
Amazon package was picked up, so that is gone.

andi9899 aren't you in a rental right now? If so, is it possible to pay month to month until you find a house you are happy with? If you can, that will hopefully avoid you feeling pushed to make a decision on something that you might regret. It is an option, but I don’t really want to. I have mold in my unit that I've been trying to get removed for two months and they haven't done anything about it. I just want to get out of dodge. Can you contact the building inspector for the city?

Y'all I am so torn on this Tullis house. I really like it, I just wish I could pick it up and put it elsewhere.

Can you turn off your toilet water at the back? There is usually a valve that you can turn and shut off the water. No noise than. You would just have to put a reminder to turn the water back on as necessary.

On a TEAMS meeting until 6PM with Mexico. DSis randomly called 15 minutes ago. Other than DNephew's grad party in late May I have had zero contact with her since late March when the blowup happened about my DD and DSis said horrible things about me (which I heard because DD was sitting right next to me).
I did text back that I was in a meeting until 6, she replied "ok". I doubt that I hear from her again tonight. At least I hope not, because I am not sure that I am ready open that door yet. Mom is still at a very long arm's length because I refuse to deal with both of them and their codependent relationship. Another example of me saying "I do not need anybody". At least nobody who is only adding negativity to my life.

I came in about a hour ago after doing outside work.
I also took some advil for the back. It was doing decent but it's now starting to be unhappy.
I feel accomplished enough. And the shower was glorious.

IIRC, Opti is in an apartment, so there isn't that local basement. with her complaints about the condition of the building in general, I have a feeling her toilet is also old enough that it has a local shutoff valve. but again, why not just let the maintenance guy in to fix it? alright. I'm really done now.

Those specific lyrics just popped into my head when I read your post.

We have added them at the appliance as issues arose. Replaced toilets, leaky showers or faucets, etc. Likely a result of varying building codes.

We too added them as we updated over the last 29 years. And we've replaced them a few times as they became dangerously hard to turn because if you get a little too aggressive with a wrench and they snap off you are truly screwed (and flooded!). You can ask me how I know

The shut off valves at the toilet are small and often cheap. When turned back on they often leak for a while, so put a bowl under them.
Whole house shut off valves are usually located where the water enters the house.

We have separate cut off valves for both toilets, both lavatory sinks, kitchen sink, washing machine, water heater, and ice maker, all located adjacent to the appliance That’s how it was at my first house, and how I think it is where I live now. But I discovered one by one, as I needed to use them, that most of the ones at my first house did not work. So they all ended up being replaced. After the one at the water heater failed when the water heater was running rivers of water down the original wood floors in my hall, and I had to call the utility company to come shut the water off to the entire house, a friend gave me one of his tools to shut the water to the house off at the curb, and showed me how to use it. Fortunately the utility company came and shut the water off in 10 or 15 minutes, which I felt was reasonably quick. But in just that short amount of time, I’d used every towel in my house and had started using extra comforters and stuff, trying to soak up the water that was running, because I was so worried about my wood floors. After the toilet fiasco a few weeks ago, where I live now, I was surprised to learn that you can shut off the water from inside the closet in one of the bedrooms. I was so aggravated that day that I didn’t ask Mister to show me how it works, or even go look at it. I was just surprised that it is inside the house. I am pretty sure the breaker box is in the storage room in the garage, but now I feel like I need to go investigate in that bedroom closet and see just what’s in there lol.

I like seeing all the houses for sale. There is literally only one house on Zillow for sale in my zip code 😂 If I open it up to the entire school district, there are about 10 listings. Slim pickings in rural PA!

We have a new stove on order! After pitching about this stove for 10 years, TD finally realized it needed to be replaced when he was making biscuits one morning and every time he set the oven on to preheat, it clicked off. It took 7 tries for him to finally get it to turn on and stay on. When he finally got frustrated, he agreed it needed to go!
Stove is on back order, we should get it sometime mid Aug.
