I saw the Tullis house. I like both for different reasons. I'll have to get on an actual keyboard later tonight and give y'all a list of pros and cons. That's exciting, Andi.

Got an Amazon return ready. I'm having UPS pick it up here as it's way too heavy for me to carry. I decided it was way too heavy too late for it to be canceled.
I have some drop cloths in my cart so I can have DN3 put them up in my bedroom when the ceiling is repaired. They are going to be doing drywall and I don't need drywall dust all over my bookshelves.

The Italian restaurant close to my house has lunch menu all day on Tuesday. I'm taking them up on that offer.

Sounds like a great plan to me. It is actually a little cool outside to me. The weather app says it’s 77°, but it’s cloudy in between all the rain, and it’s been windy all day. I’ll take the wind over the sweltering heat we’ve been having. legit, the humidity this past weekend just about killed me, since I'd already been hiding in the house (and A/C) for fireworks over the holiday week. I love heat, this has been something else. I'm leaving the windows open overnight, too. this whole week had "Hazy, Hot, Humid" on the 7-day weather forecast just now. I can hide in the house again tomorrow. I still live in the same general area I grew up in. Summer has always been my most favorite season of the year, for as long as I can remember, even though summer has always been a forced to be reckoned with in this part of the country. But for a few years now, I’ve been thinking that this sun we have in the summer now, is the extra strength version of sun we’ve had for most of my life. Or maybe I’m just older now, and can’t tolerate the extreme heat and humidity like I use to. Which is probably closer to the truth lol.

I've got mixed feelings on the job I applied for. I've heard so so things about this employer.
BUT I'm an excellent fit for the position AND it is a significant title change that would open doors into more than being a lab tech.
Hoping it's more money but I'd take the same.
We'll see. I do hope I get contacted so I can make my own observations.
It's not like I have to at that job forever either. I can take what I need and hop again later.
It's a step to get me out of where I'm at now. They are determined to keep me where I'm at and I'll be damned if they are going to force me to be lab mom.
This job I applied for would make use of my resume in a way my current lab refuses to acknowledge.
Fingers crossed. I shouldn't get my hopes high but this is the first one in the last couple months I'm almost am exact match for.
Statistics aren't my strongest skill but I DO know them and have some experience with software. I did a lot of the basic stats to get my feet wet in one of the papers on my resume.
Please please don't go internal candidate pick me!
ETA: They want a technical expert who has experience in numerous testing methods.
It would be faster for me to list ones I don't know. I realized I actually forgot a couple when editing my resume. I forgot RT-PCR and ELISA. Crap. We'll if they contact me I can talk about those too.
I've really been a jack of all trades. I'm hoping that will put me high up on the candidate list.

Mister was playing with Boy this morning, right before he left for work. I called him about 15 minutes after he left and told him to please not get Boy worked up like that when he’s getting ready to leave him. Because Boy was a mess. He was standing at the window facing the driveway and the door to the deck, and wandering through the house whining. I let him outside, and he ran to the gate, which is near the driveway. He was looking for Mister.
He has been an asshole all day. Getting trash out of the garbage cans in the bathrooms and laundry room and scattering it. And getting paper towels off my kitchen counters, and y’all know how I feel about dogs in my kitchen in the first place, but ON MY COUNTERS!
So when Mister got home this evening, I told him how Boy has been getting into everything today. I already wasn’t in the greatest of moods, like I said in a previous post, but even though I was fussing, I wasn’t really angry, just telling him Boy has been a PITA today.
So then I went to put the paper I’d taken notes on in the Teams meeting off the table in the breakfast nook and back on my desk in the living room. And there was a pile of DOG SHIT in the living room floor. That was a problem for real. I started yelling, but moreso in a way to express my frustration than to be an asshole or be mean to Mister. Which he “got” because he immediately went to clean it up and we fussed back and forth in a lighthearted kind of way, because he tried to blame it on Newbie, saying silly stuff like it smelled like her shit and not Boy’s. Which, WTF?! lol
I am glad that I was able to vent my frustration and be loud, but still recognize that he saw my venting for what it was, and his attempts to try to find some humor instead of getting upset with me. I understand that nobody wants to deal with a bunch of bullshit as soon as they come home from work, because I know that I don’t, so I do appreciate how he handled all of that.
I made both dogs go outside after I saw the mess in the living room. A few minutes later, Mister sent me a picture of them standing at the door looking pitiful, then came where I was and was laughing when he asked if I looked at the picture. I said “Fuck those dogs. They can come back inside Saturday. Maybe”. He knew damn well that I didn’t mean that, and laughed at me for saying it.
And FTR, for anyone that has said or wants to say that our dogs deserve better than living with me, the dogs came back inside the house in the time it took for Mister to walk back through the house and open the door for them, after he laughed at my reply. And I am good with that.

In other news, Mister told me that someone from the local Aging Commission called him today. I asked him “did you cuss them the fuck out”. He said, not really, because I was at work.
They were calling to follow up in the calls we made last year, inquiring about help for his Dad. He said that he did say “Well he died last year, while we were waiting on y’all to get back to us when we were trying find resources to help him”.
He said the lady on the phone said “Oh no, really”. And he said “yes, really”.
I told him I wish they’d called me instead of him. He and I both called them several times last year, and then I thought maybe we were good, because I contacted a relative that I’d learned worked for them, and still….. crickets. So yeah, don’t call a fucking year later, when he died in the meantime, talking about “following up”. I am 100% sure I would’ve done a lot of cussing while telling them how the work they claim to do is bullshit. I got angry just because they scratched the wound by finally calling Mister NOW. And I KNOW it scratched the wound, because Mister said “I sure do miss him”, and that is when I gently said “I know you do”, and shut my mouth about them calling him today.
And he told me about that AFTER I was ranting and raving about the darn dogs. If he’d already told me that, I wouldn’t have even said anything about Boy’s unruly ass, and would’ve just cleaned the living room myself.
Him getting that call makes me way more angry for real, than the dogs and their shenanigans could ever make me.

I did some online bill pay and bookkeeping and was getting ready to cook supper but friend w/dog is on the way so supper will be late. Oh well. But at least a good friend and a good dog? Yes! A very good friend and very nice dog. He's never overnighted from his house but is handling it really well. He walked in the front door and immediately went to DH who theoretically doesn't like dogs. He's prowled the yard, marked every single pile of leaves we have to bag tomorrow , and checked out every square foot of the house, except the kitchen and bathroom where his owner doesn't allow him. I take all that as a good sign that he is chilling out from a very traumatic 36 hours as we all are. Right now his mom is in the shower and he's sort of pacing around figuring it out. He's very smart and processes new things well. He's come a long way from the little roadside rescue with a broken hip shipped up to Houston from the Rio Grande Valley several years ago.

I've spent a lot of time online this afternoon trying to share various food/water/ice/cooling center resources with the neighborhood as well as various places reopening as they get power. Life is getting marginally easier for many as gas stations open. One of the people in my group text needed propane for his dual-fuel generator which had crapped out on natural gas, and we had an almost full tank which we gave him. It's running now and he owes me biggly

I am brain dead.
If nothing else, I am really hoping that I'll get some restored work/life balance.
This is no bueno.

I think I'm tolerating the heat and humidity because I spent 5 days in central Florida last week where it was worse. And we were outside a lot of those days.

Some very random things happened today. Nothing bad, just run of the mill stuff. But it put me in the spiral for all the feels about my dead parent. I spent the last 2.5 hours on the phone with my sibling and a bottle of wine.
Anyways, I've decided that grief is just a bitch that shows up at the most random times. Utterly inconvenient if you ask me. But, we take it as it comes and do our best to keep moving forward.

The one blessing of Moon Shadow passing the way he did, is it made me feel better about Dad's death. I've become too stoic I think at work. Any suggestions for sad movies to watch? (Sad movies help me grieve fwiw)

I’m jealous of soupandstew generator! We’re without power due to the hurricane, but since we rent, no generator for us. However, we are fortunate that one of the hotels near us has power and so we’ve secured a room for tonight. I’m camped out in the lobby using their WiFi to work (and post here ). I feel a little bad for DH. I’m leaving tomorrow (assuming my flight doesn’t get canceled for some reason) to go see my parents who live in MI and have AC. He is staying here so hopefully he doesn’t swelter too long or too bad! We’re very fortunate to have all these options, and he can always stay another night in a hotel if need be. Didn’t realize you were in harms way. I lose track of who is where. Heck, I lose track of where I am sometimes. Stay safe and hope your DH fairs well. Hoping the power is quickly restored for you. No power after a hurricane is never fun. Hoping you stay safe and your DH doesn't stay in the heat too long.

So some events this evening that have nothing at all to do with Mister, reminded me of a couple weeks ago when we had ordered food to be delivered. I was sitting on the side of the house where the driveway is, and Newbie was outside with me. I got alerts from the cameras that someone was in the cove and because I was expecting a delivery, I stepped out into the driveway.
The beginning of our driveway is only wide enough for one car, it gets wider as you drive down it. A lot of people have trouble with the beginning of our driveway, because if you don’t pay attention or just don’t know how to drive, you will potentially either drive through our grass or into the bricks surrounding a flowerbed. I’ve lived here for almost 5 years now, and I still have to pay close attention backing into or out of our driveway.
So that evening, when I stepped out into the driveway, the delivery person was going back and forth, trying to back into our driveway. Most people making a delivery just park on the curb in the cove, or pull in the very beginning of the driveway, so it’s not so difficult getting back out. So when I walked all the way up the driveway, I kept looking back to make sure Newbie stayed in the garage like I’d told her to, the driver got out of her car and asked me “ is there a problem” with what I felt like, was attitude.
I said well, you seem to be having a problem trying to park, so I walked up here to just get my food, and I’m also trying to make sure my dog doesn’t run out of the garage and startle you since she is not use to cars moving around like this near our house. She said “OH” and got the food out of her car and handed it to me.
How the fuck are you gonna get an attitude with me, because I came and met you since you clearly don’t know how to drive?! Idk if me mentioning my dog was what made her try to adjust her attitude, but even though I was proud of Newbie for staying out like I told her too, the truth is that even if she’d run out, I was 100% sure she wouldn’t have attacked the driver, because I was calm and gave no indication that she was a threat to me.
I’m not even sure that Newbie would've attacked her even if she was a threat to me lol. But she didn’t need to know that. I do know that when I’m outside and I start running from bugs or whatever, Newbie will run to investigate and will try to catch whatever I’m running from, but she loves humans, and I honestly don’t know that she’d try to protect me from a human that is threatening me. I pray I never have reason to find out.
My point is really that I got aggravated with that lady, for asking ME if there was a problem after I walked up the driveway after she was was going back and forth trying to back into my driveway, to try to make shit easier for HER.

Mr. T just came outside and yelled over to ask if I had a dog outside with me. I said yes, give me a few seconds to put her inside. He said he was sorry, he was just trying to take one of his dogs for a walk. I said “No problem at all! I appreciate you even concerning yourself with that”.
I really, really do appreciate how he checks to make sure our dogs aren’t outside when he brings his dogs out, because I know he doesn’t have to do that. He has much better control over his dogs than we do with ours. His dogs aren’t going to come onto our property, but our dogs will run over to him, and if one or more of his dogs react to protect their territory, that’s our fault, not his. So I really do love him for trying to be a good neighbor and trying to prevent those kinds of problems even though it’s not his responsibility.
So I took Newbie inside immediately, so Mr. T could do whatever he wants with his dogs and not have to watch out for mine. So now that my bodyguard is inside the house and it’s dark outside, it’s time for me to go inside too lol.

OK. I finally have an actual keyboard. Both houses are 4 BR/2BA. Cernech is one level with a finished basement. Tullis is 1.5 stories with a finished basement. Both have low fences. I’m just gon fuss about one more thing and be done for tonight,
I am tired of fussing with Mister about getting the deck stained, so I have been watching the weather forecast and saying just have them do it this coming Friday. That turned into him agreeing they can come do it tomorrow. It has been raining since last night, and most of today. Sir, the boards are ,clearly very wet today. How does staining it tomorrow make sense.
He agreed that the boards are very wet from rain right now and rescheduled for Friday, which is what he’d agreed to being the plan in the first place.

andi9899, I like the house on Cernech just a wee bit better, except for 2 things: The pictures make it difficult to determine if the wooden porch out back is in good shape or not, so I'd get that checked, because it appears unstained/unfinished in the photos. Also, will you need to tear down the children's play area, or is it sturdy enough to keep? Both houses are nice. My only concern with the Tullis house is how close it is to an elementary school, so busses and parents blocking the roads at certain times of the day (not to mention kids running around).

I should be in bed now and will be in a few minutes.
They guys got almost all the landscaping cleaned of weeds and trimmed, it looks GREAT! They should finish tomorrow. I am so thankful for them being able to do it and a good job. They are both very good workers.
The one guy is kind of tall and skinny with no teeth. He just works away humming while he is working. I don't understand why he doesn't have a good job somewhere the other is going back into the Ironworkers soon.
They cleared out another room in the basement and I worked in both of the end rooms. I packed items, took some to give away, and went through stuff, but still have quite aways to go in there.
I sorted through more upstairs and cleared a good sized space.
Hubs got them to also help him move stuff in the garages for the sale, they made good progress. This is costing us $300 a day for the 2 of them, but we think it is well worth it.
We have a person in the little town call this evening and he bought the truck. Hubs wanted $5k, but some things need fixed and the guy offered $4k, hubs took it. We have had it for years and its a 1990, so fair price. He is coming to get it tomorrow.
I am dead and my feet hurt. I did cut a place off on one of the calluses on my foot and it feels better, not sure what was going on, was a dark place and lifted out. Small something but really hurt me.
I talked to my friend in New Caney, Texas, its north of Humble even. She has no electric, they have a community well, but she has no water. A tree fell in her circle drive and she can't get out. She was trying to clear tree debris and was ready to take a shower when she found out no water. Of course her fridge is defrosting too. She is divorced so no one to help her. She has been trying to decide to move up north with her daughter and she said this hurricane did it, she is done. I don't blame her.She has a son but he may be having his own problems with a wife and 2 little ones, hope she gets help.
That's it for today, the dishes are washed, laundry done except for drying a load and I'm going to bed. Night all

Good morning, stalwart and giving invisipeeps of Y Ma'am weathering the weather wherever you are. Welcome to Wednesday. This week is flying past, although it may not seem that way if you are without power. I hope your day provides electricity, water and a delightful repast to sate you. I hope your spouses and SO's do not provoke you but clean up their dishes and any other messes themselves without you saying a word. THe day ended well for DD yesterday. She was told she's doing a good job and no one commented on her fall(s). Ordered new shoes for her. She'll repay me when she gets paid. She was mentioning the challenge patients with dementia pose especially when they refuse medication. The trick apparently is to find out what they really like and intersperse the meds with that. One patient likes caramels, so they keep a few available for their medicating. Weather here is warm and humid. Today will be the same. It was foggy again yesterday early a.m. and is this morning. I grabbed this shot of a lonely lifeguard stand against the deep fog that is the bay shortly after 5 a.m. The pieces of brick scattered on the ground are remnants flung from the depths of the bay during a couple of big storms this past winter.

D*&n. Too expensive for me, and in MN ... but I'd certainly buy a house with more garage than average.

We put in under cabinet lighting when we did our kitchen Reno after we bought this house. Lighting in the kitchen was terrible, and I will never go back to no lights under the cabinet again. There is no sleeping in with a cat that wants her first nosh of the day and a back that is screaming for you to get off of it. So like Moon Shadow only in the cat version.

Kitchen remodel work continues. Today electrician got most of work done. Installed under cabinet lighting and it is SO Bright! Love it. Backsplash tile will be here Sunday. It’s kind of wild. Very pretty colorful tile.
