I'm so sorry Pink. That is a crappy way to live. I think Chloe was onto something and if/when you want brainstorming ideas let us know. As many reasons as I have to not want to live in my house again, the biggest one is that I don’t want to share a home with my Mom again. I could maybe get over most of the other emotional issues I have about that house, but I can NOT live with my Mom and not be a crazy person. I wish I could, because in my culture, Mothers have a special place and are to be honored, respected, and taken care of, but my Mother is something different and I just can’t do all of that, especially if it means living with her. I am willing to answer to God himself about breaking the rules, because I just can’t do it. In my mind, He knows who my Mom is and who I am, since He made both of us, so He should understand, even if nobody on this earth does. But at the same time, I am a generous person who does random things on the spur of a moment, if I can, for strangers and people I kinda know that are are in need, and even I can’t make that make sense when I refuse to do certain things for people I am actually related to. So I guess if y’all want a project to try to help me, it would be how to get my 74yo Mom who has several health conditions and limited mobility because she has refused to do what she needs to do to get a hip replacement, out of my house, without making her be homeless. She’s been given leads to senior housing from church members and offers to help her move. She pretends that it is helpful, but still literally refuses to move anywhere else, regardless of what help is available to her. I feel you. I don't ever want to live with my mother again. If you evict her will she then go to senior living? Would she be able to support herself?

It’s the end of an era for the Taz household. DD2 is going to be sleeping in her own twin bed tonight. No more toddler bed (from her crib) anymore. 😢
DD2 hasn’t seen it yet either so hopefully she goes to bed well tonight!

Y'all my mother tests me every freaking day. We took my dad out for his birthday. She said the only reason she was going was because dad wanted her to. I told to stay home if she doesn't want to go and that I didn't give a shit one way or another. Then she was bitching that the Mexican restaurant didn't have hamburgers and she hates the restaurant we went to. I told her to quit bitching and next time she's not invited. Dear God! Is she trying to mess with your dad, or you, or just jonesing for center of attention? Was this the woman who expected you to produce a really huge meal complete with cakes at your house for a signature birthday a couple of years ago or am I thinking of someone else? And your sister wasn't really helping out much

Thinking back on what bean29 experienced when her mother went to assisted living, and what countrygirl2 recently said, it is a very real problem that older people who are moved out of their home into something more suitable will likely try to go back home. I have a friend who is having memory issues to the point her safety may be endangered. Her kids want her to go to a more suitable place for her (her house is two stories with a walk-up attic and basement laundry). Her mobility is compromised but not enough to require a walker. Her kids were at first talking about her moving closer to them (3 hours away). But then they got her to place a deposit on a place in a senior community with independent living, assisted living, rehab, and skilled nursing. And it's right here in town. This is a bad option for her for so many reasons. She has no intention of selling her house and her kids second that decision because they like to come down here to go to their alma mater's sports events. If this is what happens, I foresee her basically living at home while paying for independent apartment living. I also suspect there's something else at play with my friend. She has a bit of a clutter problem and says she's getting rid of stuff but I don't see it. I think she doesn't want to sell the house because she'll have to go through her stuff.

After we get our painting done, I'm tackling decluttering again. I did good in the closets with the little shoe racks but we have some other stuff. Hubs said our whole closet needs reconfigured and it does, but that's not a priority right now. It's serviceable and neater for now.
I can say right now I'm about as content as I've ever been. I am out from elder care for the first time in years. Still have DD but she isn't that bad to take care of she does quite a bit of things for herself. Her biggest issues are her incontinence issues. Of course the never ending paperwork problems. And we are close to the kids for the first time ever plus I really like it here and I like my house, it feels as homey as any I've lived in. We thought the close neighbors would be a problem, it is not. Everyone is respectful and the houses are sited such you don't intrude on each other.
I like it here, no driving 12 to 14 miles for basics. 5 minutes or 10 get us most anywhere. I was so tired of that, so stockpiled everything I could think of and yet seems like I was always out of some needed item.
When hubs got home last night his legs and feet were swollen, never seen them like that, I'm sure it was from sitting and driving so long. He said his legs have swollen before but not his feet. He went to bed and we raised the foot of his bed, by midnight they had gone down. But he said he will tell his heart doctor about it. I'm hoping he doesn't have to go back for a month or more.
He also eats too many sweets when gone, I told him he needs to stop that.Grandson says yes grandpa you need to take care of yourself because I want you at my high school graduation. That might affect him more than anything I can say.

I need dinner ideas. Crockpot meals are great. Easy are a must. Most of you would probably die at how plain most of our meals are but reasonably healthy and something the kids will eat are my goals. I have an excellent five ingredient crockpot pork roast if y’all like pork. ETA I also have another I like to make. Braised beef short ribs with gnocchi. Yes please!

She wanted me to make gobs of food and wanted 4 birthday cakes for her birthday. She wanted the kids waiting on people hand and foot. Dad and I shut that down. My sister is useless and a drunk. She was pissing me off so bad when I was cooking for it. She doesn't know how to cook so I asked her to help prep and it ended up being my niece and I doing everything while she sat there drinking. I gave her hell for that. My whole family pisses me off.

Grandson has a cold, he has been sniffling. Called son and he said get children's Mucinex and children's Benadryl. I gave him a dose of the Mucinex and he is better already. I trimmed his nails, washed his hair and he put on new clothes I bought. Grandpa and he went to Costco to get potatoes and kitty litter. Then they went to McDonald's and got a sandwich and milk shake. He wanted to go to the Air Museum today, but I told him hubs is too tired after driving so far, so not till next weekend. He is in our bedroom now, watching TV with Tigger.
I haven't eaten yet so need to get my breakfast, yep almost dinner time.
It's beautiful out today and in the lower 70's.

DH has AGAIN decided on his new car. No, not the same as he decided on before and I don't know if that's good or bad. His current choice is $35K vs $50K but it's a 2-seater sports car . Of course, no surprise, he hasn't actually driven it so who knows? He wanted one several years ago and ordered it but 12 months in it still hadn't arrived so he cancelled the order. I don't care, I just want it done and my time filling out paperwork and signing stuff over. He got the new issue of Car & Driver magazine and I'll go through the SUV listings and decide which ones I want to look at, no more than 3. My criteria are simple - must sit up high to give good visibility and road clearance during rain, AWD, and automatic. ETA to add, my SUV needs some power to get out of scary situations

today's been a little more productive than yesterday. I made a Walmart run for some pup stuff, and made myself a tasty Sunday dinner during the football game. gearing up for another week of fighting the battles I won't see through to the end.

I looked it up and it doesn't get great reviews, due to all the ads. That's not what I'm looking for. I do have FB messenger on my phone, so I can use that, if needed. But I found out that I don't have to switch until next month. So I'll keep using my Message +, for now. Unless someone has another suggestion.

What the bleep is going on in Florida? I just read that tropical storm Milton has been upgraded to a hurricane forecasted to make landfall in Florida as a force 3 hurricane. Please everyone prepare and stay safe!

DN3 came out to set up Maddow's new feeder.
He brought me up to date on his 6 month old baby who is very underweight. Doctors in town have referred them to Iowa City and she spent 5 days in Children's Hospital, where they were required to mask. Maybe I will be allowed to see her now as her mom told me that I couldn't visit her because they didn't want her to see any masks.
At Iowa City, they used a nasal feeding tube. Of course, she hates it and pulls it out. Parents were taught how to insert it. She fights harder every times it is inserted by her dad. It makes her mom cry to insert it. She is supposed to take a certain amount of formula at each feeding. If she doesn't take that much, which she never does, they are to insert the tube. At day care, she doesn't fight the insertion. As soon as the food is over, she rips the tube out of her nose.
Poor baby and poor parents. The older son has verbalized that all of their time goes to the baby. He doesn't comprehend that his sister has to eat.
If I had not asked him to come out, I would not have known about any of this. That part makes me sad.

In Canada, DN1 and J have to renew their passports. It was okay to send DN1's in and do it by mail. For J, both parents must come in for an appointment. I guess that is about taking the child out of the country without the permission of one parent?
NIL was supposed to be going to the UK, but they don't have an appointment set yet for J's passport renewal.

It's DH's night to cook which is somewhat painful as I want to rush in and help, but I truly think having to follow a recipe will be very helpful for his cognition going forward. Clean-up will be painful for me but that's totally okay too. Aging is not easy or pretty but there aren't alternatives any better

It's been a horrible year or two for many across the country - wildfires, hurricanes, tornados, floods and more. People ask me why I don't move but can't answer the honest question of where I should move to. This is NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT and I will delete in a heartbeat if anyone takes it there.
