I'm up and functional, working on some coffee. I think today is going to involve throwing the pups in the car and going for a long joyride to wherever the winds take us. Punk is laying on her dog bed in the big room, pouting. LD went back to bed after breakfast. I'm sick of looking at the same four walls, too. so whatever was on my to-do list for today can wait. well, after the current tennis match - Shelton/Shapovalov.

It's 7am for me, and it's 70ºF right now. Today's supposed to be the peak of the heat wave at 109ºF. I'm going to cover up my tomato plants. I go to work on Monday, so for the first time in four months, it's like an actual "weekend" for me. I'm so grateful that I was able to take four months off paid. I know it took me 19 years to earn that sick leave, but I still see it as a luxury.
Today I need to make substantial progress on drapes I'm sewing.

I put the guest room back in order after DD2 and grand-littles visit last month. When they are here, I move a small bookcase with antique books out of the room and slide the queen bed against the wall. Gives a little more play space for him. This is the smallest bedroom in the house.
Going through DH’s closet. It is the master closet and ridiculously small. We have more artwork stored in there, as well as photo albums, and family portraits. I want to look at what can be pitched, and see if there is room to slide 5 boxes of my dad’s comic collection. Going through those to find ones of likely value to sell for my mom is going to be a massive undertaking. I don’t have the energy to do this.
I don’t want to hang family portraits until we have our addition done. Hopeful for that next year.

Here's the next therapy journaling question:
4. How are you most reliable in your life? To what? to who? when?

I'm just tired from being up late due to fireworks. It's going to be a lazy day for me. I put a turkey breast on the smoker. I might pull some weeds. But then again, I might not.

Here's the next therapy journaling question:
4. How are you most reliable in your life? To what? to who? when? I shouldn't be so reliable to my job with how they treat me. But I drank the Kool aid that if I try hard and work hard I'll be rewarded. But I'm most reliable to family. I will go to hell and back for them. I told DH when Mom was in the hospital that you may not agree with us 100 but you cannot deny that you will never find someone who fights fiercer for their own than us. I will do the same for him and the kids. I explained to Gwen there is a difference between being assertive and being a Karen. There are times being assertive is critical and someone has to step up. That's me. It doesn't always come out in my favor but I speak up. For my family, for my friends and for my coworkers when needed.

Getting 4 new tires. DGS helped find a store with tires. Jerseyguy always did tires not me. Interesting but not surprising , when I spoke to guy on phone he kept asking many questions for which I had no answer. Had decided on 2 types of tires with DGS help. He kept throwing out multiple different types of tires and said need to order and couldn’t install till Tuesday I hung up and GS called same store 15 min later. He was only asked 3 questions and guy said can install tomorrow . Really think first call responses were cause I’m a woman. Asked about alignment but clerk said they don’t do alignment for Tesla. So I’ll need to go there next week Waiting room is air conditioned but stinks of tires

Hubs is working on the doors on our house today. The outside doors have only been painted once since moving here, so they all need done. 2 of them have some rust he needs to sand off, one front BJ scratching on it. The other from being on the west side of the house and taking the brunt of sun, wind, and rain. He has 4 to do. He said I will have to. fight flies today!
He also burned our first batch of papers, getting ready to start on that again.
The realtor is going to show the house at 6:30 today. The realtor told son if they don't buy it she is listing it at $170k, that is how crazy real estate prices are up there. We are fortunate to get the new place for $290k and that's for sure. We may have some work to do on it, but that's ok, will give hubs things to do that won't be that strenuous. Some painting mainly and he has a paint sprayer system. We will have the roof done first thing. I like the colors so can do it the same far as I'm concerned. I'm getting excited. And if we get a good price from the other we can go ahead and get our new heat pump in too. I just looked at temps up there and is to get 97 and 98 up there this week. Then Saturday to 83, but that is really hot for up there.
Hubs said anything they can't get on the truck, we hope all in the house at least he will bring up. I'm trying to be brutal but I'm sure I could purge even more.
Tigger has fallen for hubs, he was by me yesterday evening, hubs came in and he zoomed over to his lap. Hubs petted him for awhile, but he wants to lay on hubs lap and at 20 pounds he gets heavy. But he has grown to really like him so I think that is great. Makes it harder for him to say he doesn't like cats, LOL!

Just got up. We lost power about 6 this morning for some reason. It was out about 90 minutes. It woke me up as the fan we had in the bedroom stopped.
Going across the border this morning for dim sum, so as soon as I finish my coffee I need to get into the shower.
Supposed to be above 80°F here this weekend. Summer is here.

We just get Michelin tires, far as I'm concerned they are the best going. They are not cheap but last much longer, we have used them for years.

Watching the new Beverly Hills Cop movie. How has Eddie Murphy not aged a day in 40 years? Good makeup and a deep commitment to skin care. I think. I think he's just one of the lucky ones with great genes. The makeup guys couldn't do the same with Judge Reinhold or Kevin Bacon.

Did not sleep well at all last night. No particular reason that I can tell.
There will be naps.
One of my favorite Buffs got a 7 day contract with the New York Liberty. I can't watch her play today as I don't get the channels the game is on. I hope she gets more than one game to prove herself. Go Jaylyn!

Filter for sold items that'll tell you what sold and for how much. I did that with grandma's carnival glass. There were people trying to sell some of it for $100+ but what was selling was at most $50. Not worth it so I consigned it. Didn't really make anything but I didn't have to deal with selling it myself.

We got all the storm shutters carried to their locations and cleaned off. We installed one as a test run. Tomorrow am we'll decide if the latest forecast warrants installing them all. We just came in, it's 91 degrees with heat index of 100 and we are soaked in sweat. We made a decision to leave all but the front 2 shutters staged by the windows until the end of the season. I'll hire some guys to put them away then, and hire them again next June to clean and place them by their windows. I told DH I'm going to label them in Spanish in addition to the existing English for future needs. I worry about DH in the heat at his age, but he says he's okay

Debating. I spent a shit ton of money this weekend and product #2, a queen-size bed frame, was dropped on my deck a little while ago. I've already verified the pieces and stuff. Now debating whether to go out and do my errands first or put the thing together now? It is mother-ass HUMID out there and really don't want to go but I must deposit a check. There is no rush really since the mattress won't be here until Tuesday but want it put together so I can get the trundle frame out of my room. Maybe I'll eat and then decide.

That's what I did with DH's comics. He had a few that were worth something but most were just random weird titles. I sold them all.

Didn't really make anything but I didn't have to deal with selling it myself. There are literally hundreds of comics. I am guessing most aren’t worth much, but need to look through and look at anything Marvel, etc. I already picked up a comic price guide. The guy at the comic store did tell me that if I had a dozen or so that I thought might be worth getting graded for a higher sell price, he would give me his opinion on them.

Well, I got productive sort of. I weeded the front and side yards, then I sifted compost and spread it. I have now earned my lazy afternoon.

You're just fine. You had no way of knowing. Plus, it just is what it is at this point. She has started being "visited" by people. She saw her mom recently and sees my grandpa at times. It's not going to be too long. Her last sibling is getting ready to enter hospice. She's the oldest and has lived the longest. I think once her sister goes, she won't be far behind. I'm sorry. That's tough. Remember when patients on the skilled side saw and had long conversations with people "on the other side". Hopefully she is not doing what broke my heart ... late at night frail women in their 80s and 90s were looking for Dad, because he said he was right here or they were convinced they just saw him ... so please could I or someone look for him. <- broken

I am making turkey chili tonight and cornbread. Have not had either in ages.

We found a picture of hubs great grandfather, our sons, great great grandfather, and our grandsons, ggg grandfather, wow.
I will post on Facebook later, he is a very, very handsome man for sure. And now I see where little guy is getting his cleft chin from.
I'm trying not to stop and look at any of this stuff. Hubs and I said this will give us something to do up there, sort through all the pictures we have and enjoy doing it.
