It's nearly 1. I have most the house cleaned and dusted. We now have a dining room table (TD's been using it as a desk). Every place has been dusted and all the crap that's been accumulating has been cleared away. Nothing like a dinner party to have to make you clean shit up!
Anyway, wines have been pulled and app made and in the fridge. Shrimp have been cleaned, just need to be seasoned. I need to clean the veggies, but that won't take a lot of time. Everything else is done. I'm beat! At least, all that we have to do is just put the heat on stuff.

It's going to be in the mid 90s all of coming week so, for once, I decided to be pro-active* and have pulled the portable A/C out of storage and it is ready for action when needed. The thing is too small to be able to really cool the area but it will bring the temperature down to a level where it is quite comfy when I also turn on a fan. A win in my books.
*I normally wait until I find it almost unbearable before I do this and then I am sweating and swearing while getting this thing in place. Not this year.

So much this! My MIL just had an accident last week. It was her fault, she made a left hand turn in front of traffic and was t boned. She is ok, her car is fixable, the other guy’s ok but car is totaled. Her driving days are limited, and I think she realizes this. This woman looooves to drive, and thinks nothing of jumping in her car to drive the 7 hours to her daughter. She set herself up that driving is not imperative for her to get the necessities of life. Had she remained in her other house, not so much as she was in a community where a car was necessary. TD is going to talk to his sister since she tends to drive with her mom regularly to see if getting their mom to hang up her car keys is something they should do. This is going to be hard. And this is exactly why I won't get a car after moving! I may very well still have a number of years in me that I can safely drive, but by simply not buying a car it will be MY choice to stop. The fact that I have never liked driving, though I like the convenience of a car, helps a lot of course. Still, my choice... I suggested the possibility of me no longer driving, before DD1 bought my new car for me, for this very reason. I don't want my kids to have to take my keys. I'd rather give them up, by my choice.

I will be glad to get through tomorrow. Sunday I'm sleeping and lazing, then Monday kicking into gear again. Hubs is leaving to come home Sunday I think so that is good. I mowed part of the lawn he didn't as it was in front and looked awful. I would have mowed the whole thing but it was starting to get dark. DD and I had gone to the cafe in our town for dinner. It was packed and I did not know one soul in there except the owner. So need to keep in mind that is true for both hubs and I I think Smoke is mad at me for leaving him. One minute he is loving me to pieces the next I try to move him and he gets feisty. I had a strange guy come up to buy canning jars and he was growling and really getting upset. I picked him up to put him in the house and his growls at the guy got worse. I don't know what to think. Hubs said how are you going to keep him in up there. I'm going to try to a couple of weeks till he realizes he is "home". I bet he goes berserk on the plane. I will try the butter and pills, I know he likes butter. I would hate to hear him howl for 4 hours. I'm pretty sure they don't put them in cargo in the summer. And I think that would scare him worse. If I have to let him go, I think the only humane thing for him is to put him down. I can't imagine doing that to a healthy cat, but I'm afraid he might hurt someone. Hubs has never seen him go crazy like he did at the vet. I don't want him to see it either. Right now he hears something he doesn't like and he is on full alert. Tigger just sleeps not Smoke. I'm sort of surprised that the park allows loose animals because it seems so nice from everything you share here. Is your lot fenced in any way? I don't remember seeing a fence in the listing you posted.

Got back from a sand and sawdust festival in town. Lots of interesting chainsaw carvings. Not too may sand sculptures. Brownies are in the oven. I am looking forward to warm brownie and vanilla ice cream.

I laugh out loud when brownie recipes say to cool completely before cutting. Whatever. Warm brownies are the best.

I figure something is in the future with cats as cargo in the plane. I know shipping lizards is an art and very stressful to the animals. My one speciality pet show lizard purchase was a female bearded dragon. Almost lost her shortly after purchase as the trip and the show is hard on the animals. In the end the good thing about some lizards is lots of water and other things to do much for lizard emergencies especially from plane travel. Did lose the lizard I bought in Milwaukee and brought home. Have a feeling the dog I wisely talked myself out of, would have lived at though. Have no idea about cats except they can be more homebodies than many people realize. Not sure how people deal with their pets if they have multiple homes.

Well, I cleaned my bathroom. That's progress. I'm back to sitting on my ass again. Yeah. All I've pretty much done today is sit on my rear. I've been working on my english paper piecing project in anticipation for my retreat. I don't want to waste precious retreat time. And, I really should start working on my projects. It's this quilt: www.homesteadhearth.com/7c9112b9-7b58-48b2-a85d-84dae39af489/maggie-maguires-garden.htm The woman who made the original was very careful about cutting out all the pieces individually, what kind of designs you could make from the pattern print (aka fussy cutting). Ain't no one got time for that. I am continually shocked at how much time women spent on quilts, when you know they were doing things like beating rugs and making their own soap. And they actually finished the damn things. That's a very pretty quilt, Gira.

I am toast.
Between less the 2 hours sleep Monday night, a very emotional Wednesday, and two glasses of wine with too much pizza today, I keep falling asleep! I did get nearly 8 hours solid last night which is unusual, and very YAY!

It's my understanding that CG's new home is located in a "park" in Washington devoted to mobile and manufactured homes, much like a subdivision. It's a gated community and restricted to those over 50 or 55. Very lovely from the listing posted.

It's going to be in the mid 90s all of coming week so, for once, I decided to be pro-active* and have pulled the portable A/C out of storage and it is ready for action when needed. When we were looking at houses over here, no central air was a deal breaker. l Well, to be fair we very rarely have temperatures here where I need more than a fan. Last year this A/C never came out of storage for longer than testing. It looks like this year may be different as the updated forecast for We takes us into triple digits. At least I have the ability to cool the place down and, VERY important, yesterday Haagen Das bars were on sale at Costco. Like the be-prepared girl I am I made sure to get a box of those.

Tomorrow is the dusting I didn't do today, plus shower cleaning, and floor mopping. Since TD Beryl became Hurricane Beryl today, Monday will be hitting up Aldi for stuff. We should have a good idea by Tuesday where she is headed so I can remove the outdoor art and get ready to put up the storm shutters.

We got our insurance settlement today for the car that ran into our porch two months ago. It was surprisingly painless to go through the auto insurance of the car that caused the accident, we just had to send them a quote from a contractor for the price of repairs. It took a while to get the quote from the contractor, but the auto insurance approved the amount that we submitted the same day.

I woke up cranky yesterday and today. It has lasted all day today though, and is worse than yesterday.
I am feeling some type of way toward Mister, and he hasn’t done anything in particular to provoke me, he’s been the same person he’s been lately. And that is probably why I’m feeling the way I am lol. I changed my mind about what I want to do Thursday, I’d almost rather go to work. That really says something. We have a joint counseling session Tuesday. If we had to do it today, I’d probably have a bad attitude and be uncooperative. That might still be the case by Tuesday, because I’m not really interested in trying to get myself into a different state of mind by then. Well, I am, for my own sake, but for trying to be all in and actively participate in trying to improve our relationship, nope.
I am also aggravated because Boy keeps peeing on the deck. He is peeing in a contractor garbage bag they left out there, and 2 stacks of wood they cut. I hose it off when I see it. I’ve asked Mister to just move that stuff off the deck so Boy will stop peeing on the deck, it’s still out there. I refuse to move it myself, because I’m tired of just doing stuff myself because he won’t do it. So in my mind, it’s possible that we might end up with a deck that is problematic because it gets stained to soon, and also reeks of dog urine.
I did tell him that the stain might get gummy if it’s done too soon, and get on the dogs’ paws and all of that. He worked late yesterday and when he got home, I showed him how the water that I’d sprayed to rinse the dog pee off the deck was still sitting beaded up on the boards and told him that’s probably what the stain is going to do too, instead of soaking into the wood like it should. The water (and the dog pee before I saw it!) did soak in here and there, but the majority of it did not. But even with that visual, as of today, when I asked, he is still planning to get it stained next week. I did not help, pay for it, so it’s his money and his investment, so if he can’t be bothered to move that stuff so Boy doesn’t keep peeing on the deck, and he is okay with the risks of spending all of that money to end up with a funky ass, mess of a deck, he can have at it. Just don’t say shit to me when everything goes wrong or expect to hear anything from me other than I TOLD YOU! Because I’m definitely gonna say that as I bitch about it and expect him to fix it again.
I don’t like all of this complicated shit I’m having to navigate with our relationship and with trying to take care of this stupid house. I know that part of life is having to figure things out sometimes, but I am very much OVER every day and everything being complicated and challenging. I prefer simple and uncomplicated, as much as possible.
My apologies for ranting.

I'm home from a very fun afternoon. the beer garden at the brewery is just a gorgeous outdoor space just behind a public beach at the east end of the canal. I was surprised to find they also offer a limited selection of canned seltzers and N.A. options, and some bulk pre-mixed cocktails at one of the open bars outside. nice for those of us that don't really drink beer! we all had 2 drinks over a few hours, and also grabbed a pizza while we were there. I'm still stuffed. oh,and the place was absolutely LOADED with friendly pups, including a 4mo golden retriever puppy I kept threatening to kidnap. 💗
my two have been fed, and I'm sacked out on the deck with a replay of this afternoon's mens gymnastics Olympic trials. I already know who won, but I still wanna see the performances. I'm probably going to bed once it's over.

My poor brain is ping ponging all over the place. I'm having real trouble keeping my anxiety in check.
We found a doll of said character from Inside Out 2. She vibrates when you press a button.
Gwen just looked at me. Yep that's me all

It might also be his way of relieving stress about the work done out there. A different critter might have already peed on that bag, and Boy is trying to make that scent go away. Thinking about you and hope you can get through the emotional things you need for YOU.

We should have a good idea by Tuesday where she is headed so I can remove the outdoor art and get ready to put up the storm shutters. I do not miss the summer stress of hurricanes & TS. I live in hurricane country. I have my HN plan in place every year just in case

It is possible Boy is asserting his outdoor territory markers to other animals. It might also be his way of relieving stress about the work done out there. A different critter might have already peed on that bag, and Boy is trying to make that scent go away. Thinking about you and hope you can get through the emotional things you need for YOU. I do understand what Boy is doing, I’d just prefer he not do it on the deck. Removing those things would probably keep him from peeing on the deck. He most definitely did not like those men working on the deck. When he barked when they would first get here, I would go look even though I already knew who it was and tell him he’s a good boy for alerting me, I see them, they’re okay. He wouldn’t bark anymore after that, but he would still be antsy about them being out there. Thank you.

It's too hot to play outside, so I started an Ancestry.com account. I found out that my great grandmother's first name was Golden. Cool!
