Well, the last dress I ordered wound up being the unanimous keeper. Only one of the 5 dresses received was an absolute no (it itched badly). The one I’m keeping is periwinkle blue, the second least expensive of the 5.
I do have to give Nordstrom’s kudos. When I called to make arrangements to return 3, it was so easy. Everything is boxed up and labeled to get dropped off tomorrow.
On to shoes next!

Well, I'm going on the record as expecting the balance to be at least 50K. I don't know how it would be less than that as that would mean only $1000 for the new window and 2K for all the extra work of fixing rotted wood underneath. $49,655. I was really close. The window was $875 and the rotted wood $1650. Grand total for my little summer siding project that I was expecting to be 45K? $89972...and I still have to do some electrical and get my septic alarm fixed. Good lord. I'm going to go drink on the deck.
Ok, so 50,000 minus 49,655 leaves $345. $1,200 minus $345 leaves $855 needed for puppy. Doable? ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/lol.gif) p.s. Can you tell I really want you to get that gorgeous girl?

So because there is a chance of rain tomorrow, I went to Google and learned some things.
Apparently treated lumber is “wet” and should dry out before staining it. I told Mister what I’d read and told him to not just take my word for it, but research it himself, since the original plan was to have the deck stained after all the work was completed.
He very clearly preferred not to be tasked with doing the research and making the decision, and wanted me to do it. So I said, well come outside with me to talk to the guy doing the work. The guy seems to be use to clients that just want everything done asap, but admitted that it really IS best to let the wood dry before staining it. He said he can come stain it whenever we want him to, no problem.
I was okay with being the nit picky person since Mister didn’t want to deal with it, THIS time. So I took a piece of lumber they had cut off and discarded and put some water in it to see whether it absorbed it or not, which from what I’ve read, can help you determine if the wood is dry enough to absorb stain products. The water rolled right off and did not absorb even a little bit.
So now I am the crazy lady, trying to figure out when it’s okay to stain the new wood on the deck. I ended up saying let’s not stain it right now, even though we’ve already bought the stain. Any advice or suggestions WRT to doing it now or waiting, and how long to wait, would be very much appreciated.
I’m not sure why trying to be wise about things like that seem to be more important to me than Mister, when I know he’d be very upset if we don’t time the staining correctly and it has to be done again much sooner rather than later, and cost some more money unnecessarily.
OAN, he took off work today and we ended up going to a Ford dealer. He made an order for the Mustang he wants. I don’t really care about him buying it. He very rarely spends money on himself and what he wants, so even though it’s a lot of money, he can afford it and he is stuck on getting it, so whatever. I do have some concerns, but they have nothing to do with him buying something he really wants, or him being able to pay for the car.
But after this, I do not want to hear SHIT else about a vehicle. I am a car person myself, but I have tamed that demon years ago. So we have 2 fuel efficient vehicles that aren’t problematic, a large SUV with good towing capacity, another 4WD vehicle that can get us almost anywhere we want to go regardless of the terrain, an old luxury vehicle, and he is now adding a sports car to all of that. I am DONE with vehicles now, until the time comes that I have to let my beloved Honda go and replace her. Whenever that happens…. and I don’t want to give her up until I absolutely have to, I don’t think that replacing her will be unreasonable, since I bought her new in 2003.

Wore it in Japan in the summer and weather was so miserably hot and humid, I threw it away Would love to find similar

While the deck is composite, there are green treated posts underneath and when we were looking at it tonight, he said if it where his house, he'd wait 2 or 3 months and stain those posts below a dark brown to match the upper part. Looking online it says if you sprinkle water on green treated and it soaks in within 10 minutes it's ready to be stained. If it just sheds it off it's not ready yet.

My school ID in the 80's was my social security number and grades were posted on the walls by the last 4 digits. Also often when you wrote checks to the school they had you write your SS number on the check. Some people even had the number printed on the checks along with their address and or DL number. I don't worry about it much...I figure everyone's info is out there and been compromised at one time or another, probably multiple times. I just keep an eye on everything in case anything wonky happens.
Back in 60’s and 70’s if you wrote check to store they asked for social security and drivers license for ID. At one time I had my SS# on drivers license. That lasted for 4 year license then “they” started to think about SS# being vulnerable. Like you, I keep eye on everything due to the wonky factor! ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/wink.png) Eta. I ran across papers from school and the used my fathers military numbers instead of my SS#. Haven’t thought about in forever. I had my SSN as my DL# for years. I was mad when they gave me a K0 number instead because I'd never remember it. Guess who has it memorized now as well as their SSN.

We did not go with composite, so everything is green treated. Whatever I ultimately do or not, I do value what my peeps here share as far as knowledge, guidance and advice. So thank you again, for sharing what he said and your thoughts. I didn't really care about looking silly and putting some water on my “test” board, but it eases my mind knowing that me looking silly does have a real purpose, since it confirmed that what I’ve read said that the new wood is not ready to be stained. I’ve come to feel a certain way about whether this house is really “our” house or Mister’s house, but I’m still who I am, and prefer that things are done properly if I have a say, no matter who is providing the funds.

The vet wants the cats to have gabapentin. I don't know how, I tried prying Smokes mouth open to put it in his throat. He didn't bite me or anything, but no way I could get it in his mouth. He liked his mouth shut.
The neighbor brought me some good tasting stuff for cats they say would work. I mixed it with that, nope, one taste. I tried some of their favorite cat food, nope, another kind, nope. Now how in the world can I get them to take it. I'm going to call the vet office tomorrow and see what suggestions they have. Maybe if it was liquid or something. Looks like they could produce something cats would eat.
I did not feed them tonight and took any extra food away to try and force them to eat it. I feel so mean.

Did you try a “pill pocket”? Or, you could try something similar such as wrapping the pill in a piece of cheese.

I got a "new" (to me) car tonight! A 2015 Nissan Altima. Tomorrow I have a ton of paperwork to do, to get everything switched over and into my name. Sirius FM, insurance, license plates and parking permit, for where I live.
Dd1 and her wife bought it for me.
It's a LOT bigger than my 2012 Ford Focus, hatchback. When we opened the trunk, the first thing I said was, It's HUGE! You could fit multiple dead bodies in there! (Instead of a freezer, but I didn't say that part. LOL)
Dd1 thought it was funny that I said/thought of that. So she climbed in, to see. And I took her picture! 😳
The things people do! Haha 🤣
I sure hope things go well, getting everything transferred. And with selling my old car. (We have an offer on it. Just need to do the paperwork.)
It's dark grey metallic with a solid black interior.

I have to give my other kitty pills twice a day. I wrap her firmly in a large towel, making a kitty burrito. I have a syringe looking thing to put the pill into the end of. The end is silicon, so it is soft enough not to scratch the back of her throat. With the palm of my hand on top of her head, I wedge my thumb and forefinger into the sides of her jaw and in one quick motion put the pill popper to the back of her mouth and push the plunger quick. The trick is to be sure it is far enough back so she can’t work the pill back out with her tongue, but not so far that the popper triggers her gag reflex.

Mine wouldn’t touch them, even though I was giving it as a treat.

Good morning, able invisipeeps of Y Ma'am. Welcome to Wednesday. I hope your day offers you great returns for your efforts and that no one pees in your pancakes. This is a quick note for now. Pink Cashmere When we replaced our deck two years ago, the contractor said wait at least 3 months and preferably 6 months to make sure the wood was super dry because our lumber had just been treated a few weeks before installation - there was a date on the boards.

My guess is that if someone needed really old files for some reason or if their system were hacked and they have those files electronically stored the SSNs will be on there. How else would they be able to differentiate one student from the other? our student ID numbers weren't still SSN by the time I graduated in 2001. 15y ago was 2009. I'd really hope all schools had figured it out by then.... The students' SSNs weren't used as their ID. That was a separate number.

Amelia and I are going to the vet this morning for her annual wellness visit and one vaccine. My nose has healed enough that I can wear my mask in the tiny exam room, so that makes me feel better about taking her.

My college days are so far back that at the small private school I attended, we stood in line to register for classes. When the last IBM card was gone, registration was closed for the class.
Since not all classes were offered every school year, exceptions were made if it was a course the student needed to graduate that school year.
I majored in accounting and had to take all the accounting classes as they were offered in order to get them done to meet graduation requirements. So from my class we always had the same 6 students in our accounting classes.
I was impressed that there were 3 male and 3 female students in our class. All 3 women graduated summa c*m laude.
All 6 of us were working our way through school as much as possible.

We were told at least 6 months for our new 6x6 porch posts. We are at about 6 months right now, but I am not going to attempt it in the summer heat, so we'll wait until things cool down in the fall.

I went back to the thrift store yesterday to see if the animatronic Santa was still there. And he was! Right where I left him last weekend when I talked myself out of buying him on the spot. He's in his original box I don't know if he was ever even opened because out fell the promo cards for additional characters and his warranty card. Dated 1992. Do you think it's expired? I plugged him in and he works great! He'll go with my Mrs. Claus. She still lights up but doesn't move anymore. I've been hunting for a Santa to be her companion. I told DH he is lucky he has such a cheap date. I said there may be other wives who would expect him to buy her a car or go to Jareds now that we have money coming in. Me? I was super stoked to not have to put back the $10 Santa at the thrift store. Took me YEARS to convince him I actually am that cheap of a date and not being passive aggressive.

Another case where university ID number was SSN. I wasn’t aware enough at the time to realize how egregious that was.

I still have my old IBM card from 1964 when I worked for RR showing my YTD wages and how much I paid in Union Dues ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/rofl.gif) I remembered being told to hang onto it since I don't think we paid into SS and this somehow had something to do with that. I held onto to it to this very day - now just because it is such a novelty ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/wink.png) The college I went to was also small and remember standing in line to register for classes (not private) and when I went to register I remember the lady saying "Oh you are a war baby"

I had punch cards to register for college. I'd wait in line for an hour only to find out all the cards for the class I wanted were gone and have to go wait in another line. My kid thought I was nuts when I'd constantly marvel at his registration process. He would just enter the courses he wanted and the computer would spit out half a dozen or more different available schedules with those course selections. He'd pick one and be done. It took him maybe 5 minutes from start to finish. Every time, it ended with "I know mom, when you were in college..."

Butter. Cats can't get enough of it. Wrap your kitty in a towel, coat the pill in butter and get it toward the back of their throat. Hold the cat's mouth shut and after he swallows, let him lick some more butter off your fingers. They won't fight you if they know they get butter. I have had success with feeding pills to dogs using this method too.

I had one cat impossible to pill, and unfortunately he had several bouts of FUS over his lifetime where he had to be pilled (and multiple pills too). The cat gets burrito’ed in a heavy towel, so only his head sticks out. Clamp the cat and towel between your thighs. Open the mouth and push the pill back as far as you can. Hold the cat’s head and stroke their throat to force swallowing. It does help is the pill has a slick coat, so putting butter or oil helps it slide easier. I figured out this trick when one of the meds I had to get down my cat’s throat was citric acid, to acidify his urine. It looked like an uncoated aspirin, and it wasn’t until I started coating it in butter that he didn’t hack it back up. I’d rather inject a cat rather than pill them!

We had touch tone registrations and a paper catalog of courses. Growing up, we had two phones in the house. One in my parents room and one in the kitchen. It was a big deal when the kitchen phone went from rotary to touch tone. Almost as exciting as getting an atari gaming system.

I missed the treated lumber discussion, but I was also going to say that you should wait 6 months before staining it.
We just finished sealing/staining our deck...more than 6 months after it was built. Oops! We ran out of stain and need to buy another can and finish the stairs.

Speaking of phones hanging up in anger with a cell phone just does not provide the same level of satisfaction as slamming down the receiver. Smashing the zero button to get out of the automated message and to a person isn't nearly as satisfying either. Kids these days are missing out. Even the old flip phones you could snap it shut aggressively or really pound the shit out of that * key.
