Girl, who are you telling?!?! We were CONSTANTLY being catfished while looking for homes. I still remember one from 2 years ago. It looked totally fine from the outside, but we stepped into the house and the ceiling was - no joke - less than a foot above our heads! And it was like that in every room! We joked that some elves must have lived there. I know! I feel bad running this realtor all over the city, but the strategic picture taking is insane! Maybe I'll look for open houses and weed some out this weekend. Last house shopping we did, we experienced the same thing. I started looking at square footage and ignoring the listing photos. We were not going to get what we wanted in a 1000 sq. ft. house. We needed to look at houses that were 1300 to 1500 sq. ft. Unfortunately, that meant a price bump, but in the end we bought the correct house.

I'm driving by this one tonight. Thanks! Also, what filters are you using? This didn't come up in my search and I've been stalking zillow for weeks. That one looks super nice. Too nice. The pictures almost look AI generated. I was thinking that too. Which is why I told the realtor that I'd drive by it before asking to look at it. I know the area and it's a decent one. I think this didn't come up on my search because I filtered the minimum square footage to 1,250. I've been seeing too many tiny bedrooms.

Definitely. At one time we had one that helped herself to presents in the litter box. She really had to cram herself in, because we use covered boxes and both girls poo in the back of the box. Hey, my dog eats those too. Along with the goose shit in the yard. And then rolls in the dead fish that wash up on the shoreline. Get a lab, they said! They're great dogs!!!! We had a setter-retriever mix that never failed to hit up any of the following or a combo if he got loose: in the country, manure pile or skunk - in the city a dumpster/trash or a skunk.

Almost looks like tree roots are under the drive and raising the cement.

Even when you do get a house custom built, there are things you get wrong. My sister moved into 2 houses they built. The first house had issues, which she corrected with the second one. Even the second one had issues…..but they were entirely different things. I think it takes living in some place to figure out the shoulda, woulda, oughttas. Amen. I decided everything down to the last outlet placement and there are a lot of things I'd change if I could do it over. Had I known I was living on top of a lake, I never would have dug a basement. I would have built the basement above ground and had dirt brought up to it. Also, would have never used the siding I did, would have put a bathroom off the entryway and wouldn't have had a house with an open stairway to the lower level...too much sound travels from the lower level. I also would have built it single level with a big-ass front porch.
Those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head!
I look at this house and see things I would love to change had I built it. Had they punched out the garage by 2’, we could have had a larger shower, laundry room with a sink and closet. We have a stupid cubby on the back deck that takes about 16 sq ft out of the kitchen (that’s needed). The slider to the deck is angled so we lose even more space. This isn’t easily corrected as there is a weird roof line. Cut outs in the LR make it impossible to have any other furniture arrangements, and who designs a dining room 2 rooms away from the kitchen? Oh, and there is ONE outdoor plug in the whole house! The finish carpenter we have hired to come in and do things used to work for the builder. I was talking to him and he was telling me ‘you can really tell the houses Norm built, he does all these weird things’.

Sabah our Australian Shephard ate rabbit turds. Charlotte eats deer turds if we take her down to FIL's house and there are any in the yard. She's also rolled in them. Leonard ate his own poop. The vet said to sprinkle hot sauce on them. DH said great now Lenoard will be eating Cajun turds. Midnight ate used Q-tips.

![](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1760-S-49th-Pl-Kansas-City-KS-66106/75721979_zpid/) The 5th image ( the first one after the exterior shots) looks like that kitchen wall could be removed so the kitchen is open to the living space. If I were buying it that would be one of the first things I would do. It is not likely to be a bearing wall since there is no wall supporting the living room/dining room space. It doesn't look like the cabinet on the other side of that wall even has outlets to be problematic in making that open to the living space. I would leave the lower cabinets and make that a raised kitchen bar or counter height seating.

I am having to rest frequently. It's 89 out and it was 100% humidity. I wonder how that can be without rain.
I am bringing stuff up from the basement, trying to get a cross section of anything and everything. I'm giving the extra fabric away. I have brought 2 big stacks up. I have about all of it I want anyway. I finally put good prices on some nice rolling shelving units but they have to go to the basement disassemble and bring them up. Same with 3 cabinets in my sewing room. I cannot life those.
Think I will offer the old couch down there for $20, it sits good but was soiled when I got it. I cleaned and cleaned and have a cover over it. It will serve someone well that does not have one.
I'm going to hit it one more time, then get my cats ready to go to the vet. When I do my next sale, I'm getting the guys from town to carry the rest of the stuff up. I will box what we are going to move also.
Everytime I pick something up, I ask myself, when is the last time I used this and when am I likely to use it again. That really helps.
I bet I sleep good again tonight, nothing like being dead tired.
Those stairs are killing me, but its got to be good for the muscles in my legs.

I still like this. I bet we spend more time in the big room with my sewing and stuff then we do in the house proper.

A house that is 1100 sq ft that is 3 BR, 2 BA is going to have tiny rooms. My apartment in KY was 900 sq ft, was a 2 BR 1 BA and the second bedroom barely had room for a full bed with a small desk. However, the size of the other rooms was decent.

The listing is odd - it says and shows a photo of "fireplace" in one section, but says no fireplace in another. Also, under "cooling" it says "yes" - well, what kind is it? Under garage it says "one space" but the photo shows a 2-car garage door so ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/idunno.gif) Also, the listing says "space for a washer and dryer" in the basement but doesn't actually say there are connections so it bears checking on. It would be very $$ to add W/D connections

TheOtherMe curious about your military wall. Is it only your family? Or part of a biggger wall Where will it be? A park? Government building? Nice to honor your uncles and brings good memories of your uncle and mom. It at a Veterans Memorial in Albia, Iowa. They add panels as they get enough names to justify.

Also, that big tree in the front yard is toward the end of its life and the branch hanging over the house needs to be cut down sooner rather than later. And why are there no photos of the backyard - is it that bad?

We got some of the life insurance money so it is starting to trickle in. I paid our sanitation tax and renewed our zoo membership. I can also finally get my rotors replaced on my car. Then I need to pay hte girls school fees.
WTF am I having to pay textbook fees when they don't have textbooks anymore?! Yeah yeah I know it's probably licensing fees for software but I still call bull shit.
What an exciting life we lead!

Ours shows a bunch of shrubbery that were long gone when we bought the house in 2020. If I had to guess, the image was taken fairly close to when the house was built, so somewhere around 2010.

We have cement pouring for the driveway, people hacking at the ground to put in drainage as part of the landscaping, and people powerwashing and repainting what window frames and woodwork aren’t actually rotting (that bit will come later). It’s surprisingly distracting. I’m really excited to get our driveway back and be able to get my other car out of the garage though.

Do you think/feel that the Vet can do anything else to give Mokka some more time with a decent quality of life? I have been anticipating this for nearly 2 years. She did get a steroid shot Friday to help stimulate her appetite and alleviate any pain she may be in. However, she is still hardly eating. I do think it is time, as much as it breaks my heart. I have had pets my whole life, and this one is different. She firmly has her paws and baby blues wrapped around my heart. She claimed me as her sole person from day 1 and she has just been a furry treasure.

On Google Earth, you can go back to older pictures of the property. The first one taken of my house was the day I moved in and the moving van is in the driveway.

Once when we moved my wife said not to take anything I haven't touched in 5 years. She was referring to my collection of electronics parts and ham radio equipment. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/think.gif) I did suggest for her to come too.
